We take responsibility for the placement of 2 powerful incendiary devices on the facade of the bank ALPHA BANK- ABC FACTORS at 48 Michalakopoulou Street, which is located in the same building as AXA Insurance, late on Friday night, July 1. We chose such a central point of the city attempting to send a strong signal of solidarity to Giannis Michailidis who is on hunger strike since 23/5.
In addition, we cannot but comment on the occasion of this action a well orchestrated plan to cover up the solidarity movements in the face of the striker, with the essence of this cover-up being at the very core of Michailidis’ strike. The state administration has kept the strike and many of the actions that accompany it ‘secret’, apparently aiming to de-politicise and end it in terms of defeat and retreat. We stand by the comrade’s side for his release at a time when his health is getting worse by the day. The attack at this moment is a one-way street.
THEIR JUSTICE IS A MISGUIDED DECEPTION
The historical examples of judicial decisions that throw their own children – the whole shipowning dog pack, the ecclesiastical mob, the political establishment and its most prominent straw men – into the mud are numerous. Some do not get the publicity they deserve, others are de-nominated in an attempt to disorientate public opinion and others are simply headlines, infuriating the average person with their neutral texture. Unfortunately, in recent days their judicial time has been very dense and we cannot let it go unattended. All the more so when at the same time the anarchist prisoner Michailidis is fighting at the risk of his own life and claiming the release that – again, according to their own laws – he is entitled to, making his judicial hostage-taking even more challenging.
– On Tuesday 28/6, the Court of Appeal in Lamia granted mitigating circumstances to the murdering cop Korkoneas and he is released from prison. In 2008 Korkoneas together with Saraliotis execute in Exarchia the anarchist student Alexanderos Grigoropoulos and the bourgeois justice comes some years later to wink at the unrepentant murderer of Alexandros by releasing him from prison. Will the same appellants in Lamia have the same sensitivity when they consider the release application of the hunger striker Michaelides? And if someone naive is quick to point out that it was the jury’s votes that gave the green light for Korkoneas to leave prison, we have to tell him that their rigged games cannot fool anyone. Korkoneas is recorded in historical memory as the murderer of Alexandros, blood water is not made by any decision, any vote and in any courtroom. The blood of Alexandros not only watered the pedestrian street of Messolonghiou Street but watered thousands of consciences. Revenge is not an emotionally charged word. It is, but in the context of politics for the overthrow of the system it is fuel for organized action and targeted intervention. Let this court decision be another reminder that everything is won and conquered in the streets and not on the benches of hypocritical judges.
-On Friday 1/7 an acquittal is issued for the shipowner-rapist of Georgia Bikas in Thessaloniki, making the whole narrative and Georgia’s side of the story unreliable. The most blatant example of powerful businessmen being laundered by the judicial mafia. In these cases the laws are reconstructed within minutes, when the phones ring in police stations and judges’ offices and the orders ‘from above’ cannot be questioned.
– Also on Friday 1/7 the actor Filippidis is released from prison for health reasons by the Mixed Jury Court of Athens at a time when he is accused of crimes of sexual violence. We are particularly impressed by the sensitivity of the judiciary to Filippidis’ health. We do not recognise the same sensitivity to the health problems (psychological or physical) of the women affected by the bully Filippidis nor the same sensitivity to the health of a 41-day striker.
Three examples not in the distant past but in the week that has just passed. We decided to mention these three examples of judicial impunity to demonstrate that lives in the dark middle ages we live in are not all the same. And let the sensitive democratic representatives overstate this. People’s lives are put on the scales, weighed, and some have a different weight than others. Some are worthy, some are worth less and some are dumped in the trash. This is the raw reality.
A huge list of names, judges and decisions that provoke, outrage, stubbornness. Provocative court decisions with caressing sentences for the ‘misguided’ children of the system are not the exception but the rule. At the same time, poor devils crammed into prisons are sentenced to years in jail and pay a high price for not being the offspring of shipowner families or the children of politicians. Immigrants as second-class citizens are imprisoned in detention centres because they have simply chosen to escape the hell on earth of their home countries. Women who are abused in closed societies and the news is only revealed on the 8 o’clock news in case of death. And so on. We don’t dwell on it. Because quite simply everything is known. Obvious and blatant. That’s the system, it’s always been that way. So is the stakes of subversion and the occasions given to steel consciences. And in our opinion there are no better occasions for reflection, contemplation, commitment to radical struggle and action than these moments when the system, unable to do otherwise, unfolds its true essence in the most brutal way.
We will stop somewhere here. We have much to say, much to write and much more to do. We send a signal of solidarity to all comrades fighting for the release of Giannis Michailidis, by whatever means each one chooses. Together we will win this difficult struggle united.
