Last week, the International Motor Show (IAA) took place in Munich. Once again, all kinds of corporations were able to show off their great, shiny cars at this summertime trade show and congratulate each other on their economic successes in their air-conditioned conference rooms, limousines and exhibition halls.
At the same time, there’s a fire again this summer in Rhodes. In Portugal. On Maui.
At the same time, the homes of many are being flooded. In Slovenia or in Austria.
The livelihoods of many are destroyed. These deadly disasters have many causes. The IAA is one of them. We say switch off the system of destruction!
Therefore we torched some new Teslas in Frankfurt tonight. As a salute to the protests in Munich. As one attack among many on the destructive auto industry.
Tesla is one of our most prominent enemies. The company represents like no other the ideology of green capitalism and the ongoing global and colonial destruction. Electric motors are constantly presented as the clean alternative. This is a cynical lie. Like other corporations, Tesla exploits resources worldwide. The raw materials needed for the batteries of electric cars, such as lithium and cobalt, are mined in Latin America or Africa under lousy conditions. For transport and production, fossil fuels are needed despite the great green coating.
All this always happens in connection with the oppression of indigenous communities, whose resistance must be a signal for us to act.
Tesla accepts all this to produce cars that can creep around here in the inner cities. That show every day: There is prosperity. But just not for everyone. In the corporate logic, only a few are entitled to own such cars. It is a class issue who drives or is allowed to drive these cars.
As resistance this time we attacked a parking lot with Teslas for sale. Often it hits private Teslas everywhere or the construction of factories like in Berlin-Grünheide is sabotaged. These are all important parts to damage this corporation. Also economically, but especially politically. To show that we do not agree with green lies, robbery of raw materials or cities and roads that belong to the rich. In our opinion, environmental pigs have to pay high prices!
Tesla belongs to a collection of corporations of Elon Musk. His patriarchal fantasies are seemingly inexhaustible. He is one of the people who want to dominate the Internet, space, new technologies and artificial intelligence, seeming to know no limits to his fantasies of domination.
SpaceX, for example, is a company that wants to create more funding, rockets and spaceships to make space a vacation destination for the richest of the rich and to push the idea of eventually inhabiting Mars. The appropriation and subjugation of territory for capitalism continues, now newly on Mars. A dystopia that stands on its own.
The neurotechnology company Neuralink aims to link human brains with machines. The company is using animals to test how thought currents can be read. In the long term, this should help to cure diseases.
But just like SpaceX and Tesla, Neuralink is also striving for a long-term perspective in which people are worth different things. In which some are entitled to a better life within the ecological catastrophe already present. Some thoughts and ideas are included in the development of AI that produce a deeply racist technology. Some can claim not to be responsible for the destruction of global ecosystems and the exploitation and displacement of people because of their electric car. Some claim the right to be blind to their privilege of colonial and ecological destruction. We must destroy these patriarchal and colonialist visions of the future. They are hostile to a world and way of life that is ecological and in solidarity.
