Athens, Greece: ‘In the Footsteps of the Struggle: Lambros Fountas Present’ Text by anarchist prisoners Marianna Manoura & Dimitra Zarafeta

In the Footsteps of the Struggle: Lambros Fountas

On March 10, 16 years ago, Lambros Fountas, a member of the Revolutionary Struggle organization, was shot dead by cops. The murder of our anarchist comrade took place during a preparatory action by the organization in Dafni, during an armed clash with police forces.

From its very first days, the anarchist movement has defended and continues to defend the memory and the substance of the actions of the armed fighter Lambros Fountas through marches, events, and actions. The very organization of which he was a member carried out an attack on the Bank of Greece in 2014, dedicating it to the fallen comrade and claiming responsibility under the signature “ Commando Lambros Fountas,” thereby paying tribute to the revolutionary.

As a member of the armed revolutionary organization Revolutionary Struggle, Lambros Fountas chose to act through armed proletarian resistance at a time when the social base was being battered by austerity measures. Measures imposed by the local and international elite to prevent the collapse of the European banking system. And while politicians and media moguls present the memoranda and agreements as “measures of salvation,” we experienced them as cuts to wages and pensions, as a present of destitution and an uncertain future.

The Revolutionary Struggle organization fought against these conditions by targeting the economically powerful and vigorously opposing the measures of the memoranda. It chose to create conditions of political instability, making it harder to bleed the social base dry, leaving behind a great legacy for the international and domestic revolutionary movement. Through actions against predatory “institutions” —the Bank of Greece, Citibank, etc.—, the stock exchange, and the uniformed murderers of the MAT, he defended the armed social revolution, writing new chapters in the book of revolutionary history.

And while I may never have met comrade Lambros Fountas, never gotten to know him, never fought side by side with him. But the thread of revolutionary memory bridges precisely this: fighters, movements, and struggles that, while unfolding in different corners of the globe and across different times and places, shared a common struggle and vision for liberation. Thus, the preservation of revolutionary memory is anything but a neutral process. It is a thorn in the side of oblivion and a crack in the history of the ruling classes. That is why securing it is part of our very struggle, part of the present and the future. That is why, even though the past was stained with blood, our dead managed to fill the inkwell of revolutionary history. And even if we did not walk beside them, we walked alongside them. And even if we did not choose the same path, we gazed at the same skies. Because we shared the same dreams and hopes, we experienced similar fears and rage. Thus, their struggle, the way they acted, and the way they fell serve as a call to arms, a starting point, and a catalyst for new cycles of resistance. And as long as we keep the revolutionary memory alive, we keep our history alive as well. A history built on the smiles and comradely glances of our own people, our own friends, and our own comrades. Just as our comrade Kyriakos Xymiteris did, who fell in battle nearly a year and a half ago on October 31, 2024, in the explosion in Ambelokipi. A comrade who envisioned a world of equality and freedom. A just world, built upon the ruins of the old one.

So, for Lambros Fountas, Kyriakos Xymiteris, and all the other fighters who saw themselves as part of revolutionary history and threw themselves into the fray, it is now our turn to turn their loss into a rallying cry. Let us live up to our history and our responsibilities, and let us see their deaths as a motivation to continue the struggle.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the bomb attack at the National Bank of Greece in Petralona by ‘Group Conspiracy Vengeance’

Posted on 2024/01/27 - 2024/01/27 by darknights

At a time when the “liberal” economy is imposed by the capitalist system with the foundation of the right-wing agenda, both in Greece and in most countries of the world, the banks are the crown jewel.

The legal pimp that intervenes and influences our lives in the name of money, impoverishing the people and enriching the minions and stooges of the governments.

It is no coincidence that the cabal of private giants, bankers and governments are the main beneficiaries of the permanent crisis that has been hitting the country for years. They privatize all public services that belong to the people, securing their money in the banks with exorbitant interest, getting richer and richer. They play a leading role in the auctions, grabbing people’s houses as fast as possible without any light being shed on the people who have been suffering for years because of them.

The examples are endless, elderly people with health problems, the unemployed and many others who simply do not belong to the corrupt circle of crooks – predators of the government, big business and bankers. It goes without saying that they have the support and help of the uniformed garbage police, who as the known puppets of the rich run around to carry out the “mission” of eviction, taking the bribes from the big-name loan sharks.

We could say too much, but we all know the miserable role of the banks. So we will come back to this after our next hit.

The key reason why we chose to attack this bank at 115, 3 Ierarchon Street in Petralona, is the appeal hearing on 2/2/2024 of the comrade – anarchist Tziotsis Fotis, in the context of practical solidarity.

This bank was the first financial goal of his action, in order to continue the conscious path of illegality he chose, “breaking” his license from the Larissa prison, not returning to captivity, choosing with dignity to continue walking on the paths of freedom and armed struggle.

No state bastard can stand in the way of freedom.

Nothing will go unanswered, judges, prosecutors, cops who happily shuttle prisoners back and forth to the courts, remember that no one is alone.

Everything goes on…

The responsibility is assumed by the group

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for incendiary attack on bank in solidarity with G. Michailidis by Anarchists

Posted on 2022/07/17 - 2022/07/17 by darknights

The anarchist prisoner G. Michailidis has been on hunger strike since 23/5 demanding the release he is entitled to and is already in danger of suffering permanent damage to his health. After the negative proposal of the prosecutor, the judicial authorities prolonged the torture of Giannis, setting the Lamia council that will meet for his release on Monday 25 July, the 64th day of our comrade’s hunger strike.

Alongside the intensifying torture of the captive comrade, the judicial system blatantly confirms its role as a mechanism for the maintenance and reproduction of class power and its culture. It releases the killer cop of the anarchist Alexandros Grigoropoulos, Korkoneas, the serial rapist Filippidis, the petty bourgeois murderer of Zackie, Horteria, acquits the big-time Leventis for the gang rape of Georgia Bika and gives parole to the serial child rapist, director of the national theatre, Lignadis. The message is clear. The bodies of the oppressed have no value against the appetites of the powerful and their praetorians. Those who belong to the ruling classes can murder and violate the bodies of the oppressed and bourgeois justice is there to reward them, to acquit them, to give them extenuating circumstances, to find them unsuspecting of committing new crimes.

On the contrary, comrade Giannis Michailidis is persecuted, tortured and remains indefinitely imprisoned and suspected of committing new crimes. Precisely because he did not use violence against those from below, but instead took up arms and turned them against the ruling classes and their temples. The temples of the reproduction of capital, of the exploitation and enslavement of our lives. The banks, the pillars of the capitalist system of power that for years, in order to maintain themselves at all costs, our lives have been torn apart by wage cuts, unemployment, home foreclosures, economic exclusion and misery.

As a sign of minimal practical solidarity with Giannis’ struggle, as a sign of our solidarity, we mounted an attack on the National Bank of Greece on G. Avxentiou Street in Ilisia, placing an incendiary device and causing damage to the exterior wall and an internal auxiliary room of the bank.

Let us make it clear that we will be, alongside Giannis, once again the cutting edge, which, even if only temporarily, will inevitably penetrate the murderous class that sustains this system of generalized enslavement and exploitation of (human and non-human) nature…

Victory in the struggle of Giannis Michailidis

Solidarity and strength to the captured comrades, hunger strikers in solidarity with G. Michailidis, Dimitris Hatzivassiliadis and Dinos Giagtzoglou.

Athens, Greece: Incendiary attack against a National Bank branch in solidarity with Giannis Michailidis

Posted on 2022/06/17 - 2022/06/17 by darknights

Since 23.5, comrade Giannis Michailidis chose to put his body on the line, starting a hunger strike demanding his immediate release. The comrade has served 3/5 of his sentence and meets all the formal conditions for his release. However, the judicial council vindictively rejected the comrade’s request, using as an excuse that Giannis does not meet the substantive conditions for release as the same council considers him to be a risk of committing new offences.

Class power wants to impose on us a world where ‘danger’ is identified with the vision of a world of equality and solidarity. Where any form of self-determination, self-institution and self-organisation, any attempt to overcome state mediation is considered a crime. The same system that creates and reproduces exploitation, oppression and the culture of power uses itself as regulator and judge. Thus it imposes laws that protect sovereignty, punishments that unfold at the grassroots level. And when the latter realises that if it does not fight it cannot survive and chooses self-defence, the omnipresent regulator puts on its most bloodthirsty face, because at this moment not only is sovereignty threatened but its own role is called into question. This is how his political courts are built. On moments of practical questioning of a devastated world, moments of questioning those who guard it.

Incarceration is nothing but the consolidation of the proletarian condition in contemporary capitalism. Democracy is imposed not only by tactical victories, but also through the constant effort to subjugate those who challenge its rule and fight for their survival through its overthrow. It attempts to bring the resisting parts of society to their knees by burying them in mass repositories of souls, condemning them to a fate of permanent captivity, deprivation and torture. Athens: Comrade Marios Seisidis is on trial in the courts of Loukareos on 25/6 at 9am

Posted on 2021/06/24 - 2021/06/25 by darknights

On Friday 25/6/21, at 9am in the courts of Loukareos Street on the 6th floor, the trial of anarchist comrade Marios Seisidis continues in the second instance for the case of the armed robbery of the National Bank on Solonos Street in 2006.

During the escape of the perpetrators, the state dogs did not hesitate to shoot into the people, resulting in the wounding and arrest of the anarchist Giannis Dimitrakis. Marios and Simos Seisidis and Grigoris Tsironis were subsequently declared wanted and € 600,000 proclaimed for them. After almost a decade on the run, the 3 wanted comrades were arrested in different places at different times. Simos lost his leg from a police bullet in Tavros area in Athens, Grigoris in Volos in an attack by EKAM special force of cops unite (during which Spyros Darvilas decided to committed suicide to be free) and Marios in Peloponnese together with Costas Sakkas.

While Simos and Grigoris were acquitted in this case, Marios was sentenced in the first instance to 36 years in prison as the state mafia had already been irreparably exposed by the acquittal of the other two defendants. With this trial, the cycle of this case is closing and we must defend the legacy of resistance and solidarity he leaves, as well as a comrade  so that he does not remain a hostage of state repression. Solidarity is our weapon.
