Greece: ’14 years later the only thing that has changed is the bullet in the chamber’ – Thanos Chatziangelou

Posted on 2022/12/08 by darknights

Dawn of December 5th

Thessaloniki

Simmachiki Street

Uniformed bastards of the DI.AS. chase a vehicle that does not stop at their signal. They shoot the driver who has left a gas station without paying the price. A bullet is lodged in the head and the driver loses control of the vehicle. The result? Kostas Fragoulis a 16 year old kid in intensive care from a cop’s bullet to the head.

Scum Snitch Journalists

Before the truth about the event has even come to light, police reporters have begun to weave the dominant narrative. The journalistic vagrancy is talking about a maniacal driver who rammed a police vehicle to get away from the chase. It is the compounded lie that as another truth will give extenuating circumstances to the thug of the DI.AS. In the same way that the uniformed scum in Perama were exonerated. The journalistic sycophants, bloodthirsty in the arena of spectacle, constitute the state narrative that adorns the prestige of the criminal nature of tyranny.

When the state murdered the 15-year-old anarchist comrade Alexandros Grigoropoulos, the media saw vandalism and riots. When the battalions of Chrysochoidis executed comrade Lambros Fountas, the terror panels of Lambropoulos and Souliotis spoke of an Albanian thug. In Perama 38 bullets in the body of Nikos Sampanis shielded the self-defence of the motorized assault battalions of the DI.AS. And when the lie does not overshadow the truth, they bury it by overemphasizing it in the next main news story, just as they buried the murder of 16-year-old Michalis in Ditika, when he was swept away by a police service vehicle. Today the authoritarian subjectivity of the armed journalistic pen is pitted against the same bloody truth over and over again. A 16-year-old kid in intensive care from a cop’s bullet to the head. Greece: Letter from anarchist prisoner Thanos Chatziangelou to the anarchist prisoners Monica Caballero and Francisco Solar, for the International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners

Posted on 2022/11/16 - 2022/11/16 by darknights

DN: Missed from 18th August

Comrades Monica and Francisco,

These words travel to your side from a cell far from your own. They carry with them the same complicit thoughts that crush borders and walls. The same persistence and impatience to return to the paths of fire. These thoughts do not die every day on the bars and uniformed figures that separate us. They remain alive accompanying the same necessity for yet another coherent plan to deliver to fire and gunpowder the order and security of this aging world.

Day by day more and more pieces of sky are being given away to the steel grid. And one question torments my head more and more: is it the concrete that grows taller or is it bowing its head lower and lower? But life itself comes to answer. Prison will not defeat us, comrades. For we remain with the same pride, wholeheartedly committed to the horizon of overthrow.

New formations of direct action are being formed in the territories where we have hitherto declared ourselves irrevocably present. New plans of attack are taking shape, travelling to all the metropolitan centres the deafening necessity of attacking the exponents of violence and exploitation of the oppressed.

Travelling to the present day, the words of the Italian guerrillas of armed autonomy are necessary to remind our tyrants that uncertainty is the most unbearable thing. No matter how many years of captivity may pass, we will remain irrevocably committed to the vein of imprinting theory through practice, proudly defending the anarchist guerrilla war. We are the links in the coherence of the past, present and future of insubordination, rupture and subversion. We will not be broken by incarceration for a moment. For will and necessity in the face of captivity are like the hands of a clock: while time tries in vain to divide them, they traverse individual revolutionary paths beginning and ending always at the same point.

I send you my wholehearted sympathy while holding my breath for the hostilities to come. All our strength to the incarcerated international community of anarchist guerrilla warfare and a raised fist to every fighting initiative that insists on clashing head-on with the order of this world.

Immediate release of comrade Marcelo Vilarroel Sepulveda

We do not forget the revolutionaries everywhere who have honoured with their lives the barricades of proletarian violence.

Greece: ‘A message like an arrow tearing down the walls of 41bis’ – Thanos Chatziangelou

Posted on 2022/10/28 by darknights

A message like an arrow tearing down the walls of 41bis

A solidarity message from captive member of the Organization Anarchist Action to anarchist guerilla Alfredo Cospito, who is on a hunger strike against isolation regime 41bis.

For some, the cohesion of comradeship is built on shared positions or philosophical opinions. In an empty dimension where common words are far from action. In the guerilla war what makes us comrades is the common enlistment in this war, the choices, the hostilities behind the mound of the anarchist struggle. And when we are wrapped in chains our common component is complicity, political responsibility, unrepentant stability in the same paths. It is the dedication to the pace of the path of fire.

Urban guerilla anarchist Alfredo Cospito has been held captive in the prisons of the Italian state since 2012. He has proudly claimed political responsibility for the shooting of Ansaldo Nucleare’s CEO, Roberto Adinolfi, an action carried out by the Olga Core of the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI- IRF). Since then he has remained an unrepentant enemy of tyranny. The constant persecutions against him, the status of exception and the restrictions, although they constantly intensify his isolation, both from his social and from his political-social environment, they do not bend Alfredo’s rebellious will, his thirst for new moments of rebellion. Since 2016, under the cover of the anti-terrorist operation Scripta Manent, Alfredo has been accused of leading the FAI, a sentence that essentially aims at his life imprisonment. And yet he still defends the Anarchy of action. Anarchy that is hostile towards power and people of authority, Anarchy that arms itself and attacks. Thessaloniki, Greece: Responsibility claim for a raid on a riot squad of MAT

Posted on 2022/10/17 by darknights

…And life became the biggest lie

There is no police brutality

There are only bloodthirsty protesters in a brutal fury

with the breakneck speed of desperation

the com-mat-asfalites1, the chemical tear gas, the shields.

the helmets, the incubating cages

the snake eggs of the fascist crawling society….

George Tsingos and the Black Circles

Watching the domestic news of the last few months, one will see that despite the social reactions that have developed, the isolation and suppression of the antagonistic movement as well as the imposition of unprecedented social control measures remains a key objective of the Greek state. The gentrification of Exarcheia includes the construction of a metro station in the square, the redevelopment-privatisation of the Strefi Hill and the blocking of access to the Polytechnic and aims to uproot the revolutionary tradition of the area. Similarly, the installation of MAT platoons and all kinds of cops inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims to sterilize the university premises from any voice of opposition to the bosses. But beyond hitting the movements, the hiring of thousands of new cops, the millions given to equip the police and their constant presence in the public arena on every occasion set the tone of the new social contract. And all this at a time when society is being impoverished anew, with precision pushing those from below to the limits of survival. In a nutshell as Petsas arrogantly informed us adaptation (to capitalist and state dictates) or death.

The effort by the current government to restructure the education system and especially the universities begins the very next day after its election with the abolition of the university asylum. Their pretext was to crack down on lawlessness and instil a sense of security. This was followed by the passing of Law 4777 in the midst of quarantine to avoid major social reactions. The response to those that were manifested was a display of fierceness and brutality. Just a few examples:

  •  the pulling of a gun by a cop at the ΑΣΣΟΕ (Athens School of Economics)
  •  the two evacuations of the occupied rectorate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the space of one month in 2021
  • the evacuation of the steki at the Biologcko
  •  the hundreds of injuries, beatings and arrests in the last two years in student mobilizations
  •  the firing of asphyxiant inside the ΣΘΕ (School of Sciences) in broad daylight with hundreds of students and workers trapped inside the building and suffocating
  • the hitting and severely injuring of a student with a flashbang grenade fired at point-blank range
  •  the murderous attack on the crowd attending Thanasis Papakostantinou’s concert during the 3rd Libertarian Festival of Occupied Spaces and Collectives, which almost resulted in people being trampled.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the Incendiary Attack on the House of Babis Papadimitriou by Direct Action Cells

Posted on 2022/07/22 by darknights

The Direct Action Cells take responsibility for the attack with an incendiary device at the house of the MP of the New Democracy and journalist of SKAI, Babis Papadimitriou, in Metz in the morning of 6/7. Wanting to honour the real freedom of speech that is persecuted and silenced in the Western countries, we gave the name of Julian Assange to the cell that carried out the action. So that we can recall what it really means to silence freedom of speech with persecution, prisons, courts, when a journalist exposes the war crimes and massacres committed by capitalism.

Babis Papadimitriou belongs to this category of SKAI journalists who redeemed the worm work he did for so many years with a parliamentary seat in New Democracy. The Anglo-Saxon model followed by the SKAI television group in defending New Democracy, as Portosalte had said, has another parameter. The function of SKAI as a political reservoir for future executives and MPs of the New Democracy.

We have mentioned the illusion of security offered by the arrogance of a dominant position of a political official or a big journalist. So now Babis Papadimitriou has crawled out of his house in front of the television cameras to protest against the state’s inability to stop terrorists.

A TV puppet with a consciously argumentative speech, whose persona has been skilfully manipulated over the years by the shipowners who have him on their payroll and the political managers of New Democracy. The similarities with Aris Portosalte are many. After all, together they have marked a period when SKAI was outraged by plaguing the social resistance to the imposition of the memorandum programmes. As a journalistic duo they provoked the anger and disgust towards them from the majority of society. It is no coincidence, moreover, that at the news of the attacks on their homes the social reactions were jubilant from a multitude of people of our class. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for incendiary attacks on the Secretary General of the Greek Police Officers’ Union and SKAI journalist Aris Portosalte by ‘Direct Action Cells’

Posted on 2022/07/04 - 2022/07/04 by darknights

LET FEAR CHANGE SIDES

The Direct Action Cells undertook the incendiary attacks on the homes of the Secretary General of the Greek Police Officers’ Union Evangelos Mantziorou on June 2 in Peristeri and the SKAI journalist Aris Portosalte on June 14 in Vrilissia. Our attacks were carried out in the context of our strategy expressed through the slogan “Fear must change sides”. For the last 1.5 years we have been trying with all our forces to target people who, from their position, staff the Greek capitalist formation. High-ranking police officers, big journalists, government officials, technocrats who plan government policy, judges, have been targeted. At the same time we have carried out incendiary actions against financial and political targets. Our action is aimed at sending a clear message to these puppet masters. Those who from their position participate in the savage attack that capitalism has unleashed on all aspects of our lives are in the crosshairs of the Direct Action Cells.

Their apologetic statements, the terror with which they jump out of bed when they hear the explosions of the devices we place in their homes, the condemnatory statements of the parties and the media, show that we are on the right track. The encouraging comments from our people, our class people, are our strength to carry on. Through our actions we are trying to keep alive the tradition and practice of direct action. To make it clear that our enemies have names and addresses. To prove that our momentum is greater when we become unpredictable and to call on other militants to follow our example.

The choice of the far-right neoliberal university student and his targeting was not the result of a victimhood and a source of disgust caused by his public presence. Aris Portosalte as a persona encapsulates the most extreme aspects of neoliberal discourse in the country and with his shrill voice he challenges and seduces the sympathetic ears of the neoliberal audience. His daily rants are not the opinion of a journalist, as he and those who deplored the attack on his house want to peddle, but the outgrowth of the political footprint of New Democracy in Greece at the cutting edge of its thought and speech production, the media. Like another harlequin, he has taken a leading role in the forefront of far-right propaganda and is doing the dirty work that the ruling party’s political cadres often avoid. Greece: Georgia Voulgari and Thanos Xatziagkelou start hunger strike in solidarity with the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis.

Posted on 2022/06/18 - 2022/07/26 by darknights

The dictatorship of confinement is the mirror of democracy. It is the morbid representation of a tyranny that is not content with its military victories. It wants to see those it subjugates bend, sink into deprivation and decadence. To see in the faces of the captives that laughter disappears and misery takes its place. Power builds mass graves of souls to bury in concrete the voices of the invisible.

And yet some continue to shout. They shout loudly about injustice, inequality, arbitrariness. They shout for freedom and their voices break the concrete, cut the wires and travel free as birds in the sky. They contemplate the meanness of this world and from their proud height they fall like thunderbolts on the heads of the lords.

Comrade Giannis Michailidis belongs to these voices. A disobedient fighter both outside and inside the walls. Intransigent with the demand for encirclement to this day. Humble as a personality as much as a sworn enemy of exploitation, our comrade condenses in his journey the meanings that today we are called to defend collectively. Revolutionary consciousness against subjugation, abnegation against self-interest, the sharpening of the struggle against disarmament and generalized resignation.

In the face of the general decadence that prevails around us, there are people who, with their faith and dedication to revolutionary ideals, have left their own special mark in the militant struggle for total liberation. The lives of these people, whom we are honored to call comrades, weigh like mountains. Therefore, the struggles they wage are the struggles of all of us. Giannis placed a stake on his body to defend the collective current of those who chose to march, from the first to the last day, on the paths of intolerance through the walls. Athens, Greece: Political text by Anarchist Georgia Voulgari, a prisoner in the women’s prison of Korydallos

Posted on 2022/05/23 - 2022/05/23 by darknights

Political text by Georgia Voulgari, a prisoner in the women’s prison of Korydallos.

We are in a daily war, a war with the status quo, with every form of power that eats away at our lives, and in this war I realized where I belong. In a world where patriarchy rapes and kills us, where capitalism crushes us, impoverishing what we call life, in this world where humanity itself dominates nature and animals, perpetuating anthropocentric thinking and speciesism. So I chose sides. For the power complex will not destroy itself, no social change will come about unless our action transcends reformist logics, having a will to believe and a commitment to our ideas, putting theory into practice.

I proudly declare myself anarchist, proud that in this rotten society, the society of submission and spectacle, I did not bow my head before exploitation and power and chose to stand next to comrades who, by supporting the multiform struggle, also wrote their own page in the revolutionary historical memory. So far, living my new life next to them, in squats, through their common struggles for freedom, I learned what solidarity and comradeship is, what it means to give everything for what you believe in even if you are going to lose your freedom. I take the political responsibility that is due to me for my complicity in the incendiary attack that took place on 8/2 at the Foundation for National and Religious Reflection. A fragmentary action, which was not carried out by an organisation, namely the Anarchist Action organisation of which I am accused as a member, but was motivated by the desires and anger of two people against religious obscurantism, patriarchy and state power. Greece: Thanos Chatziaggelou – ‘Don’t ask if we will win or if we will be defeated – Just fight!’

Posted on 2022/05/16 - 2022/05/19 by darknights

Solidarity message of the imprisoned member of the Organization Anarchist Action to the unrepentant anarchist Claudio Lavazza, in response to the appeal of his 25-year-old sentence which is to be examined on the 17th of May.

While being imprisoned in the most dystopian Hall of tyranny a combination of a few words on a piece of paper could never vividly describe the ideal of revolutionary intransigence. How could anybody fit a moment a life of disobedience, complexly devoted to the relentless struggle without leaving out any important detail.

Until today, there are only few people who wholeheartedly attempted to build a bridge filling the gap between a life and survival. These people who devoted their whole existence to the bright direct actions of the revolutionary base against the fierce doctrine of tyranny for the “end of history”, laid down their lives in the wholehearted hostilities of the revolutionary base. They enlisted sternly and unyieldingly on the fractious front of subversion, bled while comrades were perishing in battle, but imprisoned in the face of the danger of repentance and legitimacy, they chose ironclad pride.

Comrade Claudio Lavazza belonged to the same mixture of figures of struggle that divided them by a very important “particularity”: injustice and exploitation, social decay and tyranny were not just statements but issues that concerned them individually and collectively. They did not adapt ideology and politics to their lives; they devoted the absoluteness of their existence to vital and militant resistances. Enlisted in the armed ranks of the Italian Autonomy, he chose very early on the path of illegal freedom in the face of repression and political degeneration from statements of repentance. Thanos Chatziaggelou – During a witch hunt, pride is hidden in the fire beam

Since the first day of my arrest, I have consciously chosen to keep a consistent position and refused to cooperate with the prosecution and interrogation authorities. Every time I spoke, I did it to claim certain historical and political responsibilities. Responsibilities towards my individual and collective path in the acts of revolutionary violence, as well as towards two of my comrades, on whose names from the very first moment the anti-terrorist unit tries to personify the lost pieces of the puzzle of the so-called deracination of Anarchist Action.

In this case, beyond what is objectively true and what is a lie, the greatest danger lies behind the political goals of the anti-terrorist unit. So, what are the shocking pieces of evidence of the service, infamous for its methodical lies: A ridiculous anonymous phone call that names me personally as the one responsible for a set of arson attacks in the region of Thessaloniki (a phone call whose number I assume is going to be missed in the trial by the hackers of the service), surveillance of ambiguous quality and origin taken from my personal daily life, my arrest together with my companion Georgia Voulgari in the house of Panos Kalaitzis, where I had in my possession a set of confiscated items that are named as “arsenal” and two clear political statements: the common responsibility claim of one and only arson attack at the FNRC from me and my companion and my personal responsibility claim of being a member of the Anarchist Action.
