Athens, Greece: Anarchist comrade Nikos Romanos denounces deep parastate with far-right tendencies

Posted on 2022/06/23 - 2022/06/23 by darknights

Our anarchist comrade Nikos Romanos releases a text denouncing the parastate and fascist actions of the Greek cops inflicted upon him, his family, friends and comrades. The comrade has been under surveillance on and off since his release three years ago by the fascist scum of the Anti-Terrorist Unit, which has now hit a new level since the beginning of the hunger strike by his friend and anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis, who has been subject to further imprisonment despite serving the required amount of time that would trigger his release.

The repression our comrade is facing should be considered and analysed within the international context of repressive tactics by states against those who dare to fight back without fear. With the current international environment, such as the war in Ukraine, the impending economical crisis threatening on the horizon, technological developments, the repressive apparatus of all states is entering a new stage to counter the struggles that are coming.

Nothing is over, the conflict continues…

Without further hesitance, we let our comrade’s words speak for themself:

The events that I am about to recount took place on Monday 20/6 in the afternoon outside my friend’s house in the centre of Athens. They concern yet another incident where police surveillance by the anti-terrorist police crosses the boundaries and red lines that exist and defines the peculiar relationship between a secret service and its potential target victims.

So let’s get to the facts. The hunger strike of our friend and comrade Giannis Michailidis, who is fighting against the arbitrariness and methods of the bourgeois justice system by putting his body in a barricade, has been going on for the last period of time. He is in a regime of preventive detention because while he has served the sentence imposed on him, the judicial councils, acting as thought police, reject his requests for release, foreseeing his future behaviour as other Pythias*. In essence, they are punishing him not for what he has done and for which, according to their laws, he has served his sentence, but for what they think he will do, based on interpretations that have nothing to do with reality.

During this period, the surveillance of the anti-terrorist police against me has become a daily occurrence, while their presence outside my family’s house has become daily and provocative, with large groups of anti-terrorist police officers defiantly rushing around in their vehicles. This event was interrupted following an engagement with these police officers on Saturday 18/6, where it was emphatically stressed to them that their defiance must end and that their continued presence there would not be accepted. Which was accepted and they ceased their defiant presence, so there is no point in me expanding on evidence that exists and will not be published unless there is a substantial reason. GR: Γιάννης Μιχαηλίδης: Ανακοίνωση έναρξης απεργίας πείνας με στόχο την αποφυλάκιση μου

After 8.5 years in prison, after all these arbitrary actions against me, I decided to put an end to my 11 years of suffering, by putting a stop to the practice of pre-trial detention, or the additional punishment of escape through legal loopholes. After 5 more months of pre-trial detention, I start a hunger strike for my release. This choice, with the deep motivation of the much desired freedom, I intend to support it with the same consistency that I have supported my choices so far and for which I am being persecuted.

“Woe to those who will accept prison as a condition of life, and from the brightest sunlight, the smallest ray” – The rallying cry of the Alikarnassos prison uprising

For 11 years I have experienced state vengeance against choices in line with my values and ideas. The difficult journey, from which I choose to share some blatant vengeful acts of arbitrariness against me, began in the distant 2011, when an arrest warrant was issued against me for the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire case, for which I was eventually acquitted as there was not the slightest connection between me and the charge against me. It was the incrimination of a relationship of solidarity with wanted anarchists that put me in their place when they were arrested.

After 2 years of being on the run, I too am now walking through the heavy doors of prison, as the existence of a warrant that entails a decade of incarceration has led to certain choices and consequent mistakes. The comrades who were arrested at the time in the bank robbery in Velvento, Kozani, were tortured by the police, which is common, and then the Ministry of Public Order published photos of our swollen faces, provoking a public reaction. Of course, no police officer was accused of this by the blind Greek justice system. Athens, Greece: Incendiary-explosive attack upon cop’s vehicle in solidarity with anarchist prisoners Vaggelis Stathopoulos & Dimitris Hatzivassiliadis

Posted on 2022/05/14 - 2022/05/18 by darknights

For 3 years now, the far-right government of the ND has intensified state repressive action against those who fight and stand against its brutal capitalist plans.

The repressive attacks and frame-ups and persecutions against militants are countless. In these 3 years we have witnessed demonstration bans, torture of protesters and prisoners, informal hostage-taking of anarchists under harsh restraints, mass arrests, intimidation with non-existent DNA and detention. The purpose of all these state practices is to completely cut off and isolate militants from social resistance and physically eliminate them.

The basic premise of this repressive policy is to put the management of everyday life in the hands of the police, which, with the chariot of the pandemic, has been largely conquered by placing uniformed men everywhere like an army of occupation to decide who goes out and who does not.

Police impunity and police state repression has so far resulted in hundreds of incidents of beatings, torture and arrests, even murders, as in the case of Nikos Sampanis who was gassed for not stopping at a checkpoint.

One of the first state frame-ups is the prosecution and imprisonment of the anarchist comrade Vaggelis Stathopoulos, who has been locked up in state cells for two and a half years for showing his practical solidarity with the wounded anarchist comrade Dimitris Hatzivassiliadis.

In a mock trial with a tailor-made indictment by the anti-terrorist police, held in March-April 2021, Vaggelis Stathopoulos was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

On the night of 21 April we placed an incendiary-explosive device in a cop’s vehicle in the area of Ampelokipoi, destroying it completely, in solidarity with the anarchist prisoner Vaggelis Stathopoulos, whose appeal trial begins on 18 May.

It is our belief that state framing and trumped up charges are overturned through diverse solidarity actions.

Athens, Greece: Molotov attack on motorcycle cops

Posted on 2022/01/19 - 2022/01/19 by darknights

04/01/22

The reality of the state, capital and patriarchy is misery and death. It is imposed as normality through the rhetoric and propaganda of the rulers, an impoverishment that is condensed into a lifetime of work in suffocating spaces and times, with unpaid overtime, counter shifts, ridiculous wages and high cost of living. The unhealthy social-working environment for the physical and mental condition of the underprivileged. The patriarchal violence that perpetuates the nightmare of the Greek family and protects the gendered relations of power-openness-oppression. To the detention camps for immigrants, to the imprisonment of those who resist and those who somehow threaten the national-state sovereignty and its political-economic interests. Still, anyone who is left over from the cycle of perpetuating the capitalist market is marginalized, paranormalized, and when they don’t comply they are shot with .38 bullets. Murders christened workplace accidents, murders at the border for the national ideal, murders of inmates for lack of medical care, femicides christened family tragedies, murders of individuals for deviating from gender norms, murders to preserve the integrity of “Sacred Property”, millions of murders of non-human animals on the altar of capital… And we who, in spite of the times, will not get used to death.

The December 2008 uprising has left in our consciences a signal of militant resistance of the oppressed. It did not come out of nowhere. It was the explosion that followed after the conflicts and struggles of the previous years. Today, in the face of repressive mechanisms that are constantly being technologically equipped and reinforced by the hiring of cops, and listening to the legacy of the global uprisings of the past, we insist that faith and consistency in struggle are necessary to create cracks in the face of domination. Our organization and will to go on the counterattack illuminates the weak points of the opponents, terrifies the state and its vassals, and gives strength to those fighting for freedom.

The Greek state since its foundation has included in its territory minorities that do not identify with its national characteristics and is forcibly trying to integrate them. Several have succumbed, some have been expelled, others have been exterminated and others are still fighting for the autonomy of their communities. Roma communities are the target of racist rhetoric that maps them as dangerous to the national body. From the media’s promotion of them as uncivilized and criminals, the endorsement of their physical extermination by trashy cops, the judicial acquittal of the killers and the silence – or consent – of the householders, the state’s strategy of control and assimilation is being implemented. On 22/10/21 the 18-year-old Roma Nikos Sampanis attempts to escape from a chase by a group of DIAS – and under the accusation that he was committing a crime – is murdered in cold blood by 7 determined uniformed bastards. In their form is personified what we hated most. And against them, they have not only what they aim at: for all those murdered by state, capital and patriarchy we will avenge. On Wednesday 8/12 at midnight, we set up a trap on Katehaki Street for passing DIAS motorbikes. We had ensured the safety of ourselves and other passing vehicles. Through our own fault the motorbike we targeted overtook the burning molotovs and no cop injury was caused. However, the uniformed bastards who were spared for seconds got a clear message by looking fearfully at the fire that broke out a few metres behind them. Ahead of them, they will meet the new attacks and the struggles that will continue.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for burning of cop motorbike

Posted on 2022/01/19 by darknights

Our comrade Alexis, December belongs to you.

That’s why we, like rabid wolves, at dawn on December 8th, in Kefalas Street in Poligono, Athens, destroyed the motorbike of a well-known family of cops, giving a message to all state servants that we know what time they finish their service and where they are coming home from.

For Vassilis Magos, Nikos Sampanis, Alexis Grigoropoulos.

Patras, Greece: Responsibility Claim/Attack at the Zarouchleika Police Station

Posted on 2021/12/17 - 2021/12/17 by darknights

December ’08-December ’21

The thread of social struggles unfolds and widens the historical circle. The revolutionary act takes the consciousness one step further. It opens up paths against oblivion, devaluation, fragmented and incomplete historical-social memory, flattening and fascism. In the perpetual cycle of social struggle, actions form consciences and consciences form revolutionary strategy. Similar to the drying out, torture, executions and terrorism of yesterday, the regime today continues to embellish the same practice. It murders, imprisons, beats, beats up, files, terrorizes. The pandemic is an opportunity for the new idiots and modern lepers.

Then and now the answer must be the same. We attacked at dawn on Sunday 5/12 at the police station in Zarouchleika, Patras, on the one hand to honour the memory of Alexandros Grigoropoulos and on the other hand as a minimum for the recent murder by the state dogs of Nikos Sampanis.

We wink at all those who feel cheerful at the sound of such actions. Solidarity and strength to the two men in custody for a similar attack. War now and always on the state and the bosses.

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES…

..art with fires, the glow of love is here, the world is not won by prayers….

Athens, Greece: Taking responsibility for the attack on the Acropolis police station

Posted on 2021/12/05 by darknights

Source: athens.indymedia. Translated by act for freedom now!

On Saturday 27 November we attacked the Acropolis police station with molotov cocktails. At the time of the attack the guard cop and 4 undercover cops sitting in front of the police station, at the sound of the cry “murderers” scampered and hid in the building while we set fire to the guard post and the entrance of the police station.

We haven’t said the last word yet, these are Alexi’s days.

It is not remembrance, or melancholy nostalgia. It is the very idea of rebellion against our oppressors and exploiters. It is the fiery flame of yesterday that drives the gestures of resistance of today.

It is not a desire for repetition, but the very reality of exploitation, death politics, totalitarian control, segregation and total state management of the pandemic.

It is the intensity of oppression, of the suffocating present that arms us with the will, the desire, the strength to attack the state apparatus. It is the December 2008 uprising that fills us with the faith that the situation can and must change, that those from below can come back to the forefront by claiming their own lives.

The murder of comrade Alexandros Grigoropoulos on December 6, 2008 by the cops Korkoneas and Saraliotis sparked an uprising in the whole of Greece. Large sections of society appropriated the slogans, the proclamations and the practices of the anarchist space and took to the streets against everything that oppresses and exploits us. Thessaloniki, Greece: Explosive attacks on 2 houses of assassins in uniform by Direct Action Cells – Organzation Anarchist Action

Posted on 2021/11/21 - 2021/11/25 by darknights

On 22 October, uniformed assassins of the DIAS, detect a stolen vehicle in the neighbourhoods of Piraeus and pursue it. At the same time that the vehicle is trapped and immobilized, surrounded by numerous and armored police forces, the cops raise their guns and shoot in cold blood with 38 bullets 18-year-old Nikos Sampanis. Typically brought into the arms of civil justice are 7 cops involved in the murder, who under the blessings and praise of the Minister of Uniformed Killers himself, Theodorikakos, are released. The operation is a complete success. Score – one dead for one stolen vehicle.

From propaganda to praxis

Justice is a revolutionary affair and comes like the Sword of Damocles on your heads. As a minimum first retaliation for the previously announced murder of Niko Sampani, we take responsibility for the explosive attacks with low-powered devices on the houses of two bounty hunters in uniform, Lefteris Gatos at 19 Graziou Street and Dimitrios Daggli at 45 Olympiad Street, in the early morning hours of November 15th in Thessaloniki. Our attacks took place a few hours after a new outrageous event came to light: the arrest of yet another uniformed man for indecent assault on his 4-year-old daughter. We had made it clear that nothing goes unanswered, let alone a murder. And while incidents of police brutality are increasing by the day, passive waiting is not one of our characteristics. We go on the offensive again by publicly stating that as of today the bounty list has 19 more unpunished scumbags (with no guarantee that the above two will not be re-targeted in the future).

To cut the laughter…

Last July, we proceeded to put a public bounty on 21 hired killers of the Greek Police, showing you a small but not insignificant sample of our own factionalism in the face of your impunity. And we saw the fear and terror in your eyes when you took Tsairidis from channel to channel crying and begging justice for protection. A few months later, our deeds complement our words. As long as you are unpunished, you are unprotected. History itself has shown that murderers and torturers will always meet the punishing hand of revolutionary violence, of true justice. That is why our attacks on the political descendants of the junta’s torturers, a few hours before the anniversary of the ’73 uprising, are a tribute to the memory of the dead of the Polytechnic. Thessaloniki, Greece: Claim of responsibility for breaking of banks and ATM’s

Posted on 2021/11/04 by darknights

In the evening hours of Friday 22/10 in Athens, a chase is carried out by the Dias (motorcycle unit) on a passing vehicle as it did not stop at the corresponding signal. Three Roma were in the vehicle. The chase started from the neighborhoods of Egaleo and ended in the streets of Perama. Unfortunately, the end of the chase took place with the car being riddled with 38 bullets while trying to extricate itself. The result was the death of the 18-year-old passenger, Nikos Sampanis, and the injury of the third passenger, while the driver managed to escape in order to save his life while the bullets were raining down behind him.

The first moves of the state, the media and the cops were out of the laundering manual in order to de-escalate any reaction. The state at first took a ‘cautious’ attitude towards the incident by arresting the cops, but without much success because support for them could not be kept hidden for too long by various politicians. The media unleashed a racist barrage against the victims, being Roma, in order to highlight how dangerous these people are and to justify the actions of the cops. However, the occupants of the car were unarmed and there was no such suspicion. Their only ‘weapon’ was their colour and their position at the bottom of the social stratification. As for the cops themselves, in order to justify their actions they employed the tactic of lying and victimization, saying that in trying to extricate the vehicle, he rammed them with the clear aim of killing them and that this was evident from the fact that 7 of them were injured. Of course, audio-visual footage came to flatly contradict these statements.

In the following days we witnessed attempts to build a profile of hard robbers as to the faces of the three Roma, but all of them , being lies, fell on deaf ears, The truth, the only truth was and is one. Cops and the state murdered a child. Racism, bigotry and power armed the hands of the cops who fired that night, not fear for their lives. After all, since when is failing to stop a vehicle at a cops signal punishable by the death penalty and on the spot? But as harsh as the truth is unfortunately we are not falling from the clouds. This is not the first time that state and capital have left cold bodies behind. Whether they come from the bullets of the cops or from the arbitrariness and impartiality of employers, from exploitation and oppression, as in the latest example of the dead 45-year-old worker Dimitris Daggli, who was dismembered by a crane bridge at the Cosco piers in the port of Piraeus. All these people will never return to their families and for a piece of bread, for a starvation wage, they paid the price with their lives. The price of being born poor in a world of the rich. And it won’t be the last time that state and capital murder only if they cease to exist. Only if those at the bottom, the exploited and the oppressed raise class barriers. Only if we overthrow the system that sows death and sorrow.

So we too wanted to put a small stone in the mosaic of class resistance and solidarity by carrying out coordinated attacks with hammers on banks and ATMs on Tuesday night 26/10, 2 in Lagada Street in the western part of Thessaloniki and one in Karamanlis Street in the eastern neighborhoods.

Athens, Greece: What happened in Perama area

Posted on 2021/10/29 - 2021/10/29 by darknights

In the early hours of Saturday 23/10/21, 7 bike cops were chasing a car they thought was stolen. In it were three young guys, which the cops recognized as roma. A bit later, there were 38 fire-shots, aimed not at the tires of the car (in their supposed attempt to stop it), but higher; in a clear attempt to injure/murder the passengers of the car. All shots were fired by the cops. The three young guys were unarmed. Nikos Sampanis, the 18-year-old co-driver was instantly killed, as he was hit with 2 bullets on the chest. A 16-year-old is injured and still in hospital and the 14-year-old driver ran away amidst gunfire. The cops were initially arrested and were charged with the felony of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter.

A few minutes after their *arrest*, Spyridon Georgiadis, Minister for Development and Investment, tweeted his congratulations to the murderous cops. The Citizen Protection Minister, Takis Theodorikakos, paid them a visit in jail. For “symbolic reasons” as he stated.

From the very first moment, mass media in Greece focused on the fact that the murdered young man is a “roma”. Additionally, they falsely reported that he had a heavy criminal record. This was proven to be a blatant lie. In fact, the notorious police reporter Nina Karamitrou posted a photo of a man with dark skin holding a gun, presenting him as the dead Nikos. The photo was fake. The cops’ attorney, A. Kougias, characterized the roma community in Greece “a plague”. Al. Kougias is a well-known lawyer from criminal cases but also a defense lawyer in cases of the Greek mafia. He was also the defense attorney for the cop that murdered 16-year-old A.Grigoropoulos in 2008.

The greek reality is that the roma community is constantly targetted by the authorities and subjected to racism and discrimination in the greek society. The roma community is a typical case of a marginalized community.

Yesterday evening the investigator and prosectutor decided to release from custody with no restrictive measures all cops with felony charges. Once again, minutes after the decision, the Citizen Protection Minister, Takis Theodorikakos, expressed his “satisfaction on the decision of the independent judiciary”.
