Opening Arguments and Testimony from Alvarado Officer at Center of Prairieland Case Marks First Day of Landmark Trial Against Nine Defendants (USA)

Posted on 2026/02/25 by darknights
Testimony of Lt. Thomas Gross Undermined Government Arguments that the Noise Protest on July 4, 2025 Was an “Ambush” and “Planned Attack”
FORT WORTH, TX – Opening arguments and testimony from the Alvarado police officer at the center of the controversial Prairieland ICE Detention Center case marked the first day of trial yesterday against nine defendants. The federal government offered no new or compelling arguments in their opening statement and relied heavily on First Amendment-protected activity to make their case. However, during cross-examination, Alvarado police officer Lt. Thomas Gross revealed information that undermines the government’s narrative that the noise demonstration on July 4, 2025 was an “ambush” and that police were the targets of a “planned attack.”

During today’s proceedings, the defense team was able to cross-examine Lt. Gross, who was injured at the scene. This is the first time Gross has spoken publicly since the incident. He described a hectic scene with few details, claiming to see only a small handful of male individuals, despite multiple women defendants in the case.

On cross-examination, Lt. Gross said he spent between 2-4 hours in the hospital before being released, and could not explain why he appears to have been shot from the back despite also claiming to have been facing the person who the government alleges fired at him. Gross could not say who drew their weapon first, but he admitted drawing his weapon without any obvious threat. Gross stated that when he arrived on the scene, there was no alleged criminal activity being committed more serious than “criminal mischief.” In response to questions from defense attorney Phillip Hayes, Gross admitted that he was pointing his firearm at a fleeing person’s back, before encountering the individual holding a rifle. This testimony seemed to contradict the government’s claim that the police were ambushed.

On the attempted Far-Right attack on an East Bristol pub (UK)

Posted on 2026/02/18 by darknights

From Bristol Antifascists:

Yesterday, 25-30 members of Bristol Patriots attacked our fundraiser at the Red Lion in Easton.

They arrived together in vans and cars and tried to force their way into the pub. Due to the quick thinking of people there, they were shut out. There was a great community response as more people from the surrounding area showed up to protect the pub. Eventually, they were hugely outnumbered and forced out the area by police for their own protection.

The fundraiser gig continued and many of those who mobilised ended up celebrating the strength of our community at the gig, which was a roaring success. Continue reading “On the attempted Far-Right attack on an East Bristol pub (UK)” →

Anti-Fascists Occupy Hungarian Consulate in Manchester (UK)

Posted on 2026/02/17 by darknights

Mocskos Fidesz!

Yesterday (14/02/26), a group of anti-fascists answered the call to take action against Viktor Orbán’s regime. Under our banner, they occupied the lobby of the building containing the Hungarian consulate in Manchester – disrupting the building until the police arrived on the scene.

Fidesz has criminalised antifascism, utilised their control over the courts to prosecute who they see fit, used the power of government to tighten their grip on the nation and victimise marginalised communities – all the while, letting degenerate nazis celebrate their equally degenerate forefathers.

Whilst here in the UK we cannot stop this, we stand in solidarity with every vicitim of Orbán’s regime, we stand with the people of Hungary – and we stand united with anti-fascists across the world.

Free Gabriele M.
Free Anna M.
Free Hungary.

The Hungarian government has proscribed “Antifa” as a terrorist organisation, marking all those who oppose fascism as terrorists and placing activists under surveillance. In a show trial, 25 year old non-binary anti-fascist Maja T. has been sentenced to 8 years in prison. Gabriele M. Has been sentenced to 7 years and Anna M. has been sentenced to 2 years.

In Britain as well Black and Brown youth have been put on trial and sentenced for helping defend their communities from racist attacks during the pogroms of Summer 2024.

Meanwhile on 14th February neo-Nazis are holding a music festival, rally and meeting in Budapest, to pay tribute to Nazis and their collaborators in WW2, which thousands of neo-nazis will travel from around the world to attend. The anti-fascist counter demo has been banned and Hungarian cops will be out hunting anti-fascists gathering to help defend their communities.

Anti-fascists in Hungary have called for an international day of solidarity on 14th February. We will be answering this callout and invite you to gather with us outside the Hungarian Embassy in London.

Fighting fascism is our social responsibility and when states ban fighting fascism it is our social responsibility to all be criminals.
