We look back on turbulent days full of fear and anger, but also hope and solidarity in relation to Rigaer 94. The escalation around the “fire inspection” is only the visible tip of the iceberg in the struggle for living space. For eviction and displacement take place every day, but usually without attracting public attention. They are tragedies that lead to homelessness, isolation, lack of dignity and, in extreme cases, can even be fatal. So recently happened on 31 May in Kreuzberg as the 67-year-old musician Peter Hollinger, because of his impending eviction after 40 years in the apartment, took his own life.

In deep solidarity with the resistant residents of Rigaer 94 and all those who do not give up the struggle against the city of the rich, we attacked symbols of capitalist rule at Antonplatz in Berlin-Weißensee during the night. It has caught a savings bank, a Targobank, a Volksbank, LBS, Postfinance and two supermarkets. Meanwhile, the street was blocked with burning garbage cans. On a wall in the square we left our message: “R94 remains – Peter R.I.P.”
