Thessaloniki, Greece: Molotov attack on riot cops & riot during the 6th December, anniversary of the killing of Alexis Grigoropoulos

Posted on 2022/12/08 - 2022/12/08 by darknights

Extensive attacks on the riot cops in the center of Thessaloniki after the march for Alexandros Grigoropoulos who was killed by cops in 2008, turned into a riot on 6th Decemeber. Beginning 5th December, there have been extensive riots in Athens and Thessaloniki, protests in many towns around the country, after the shooting in the head of 16 year old Roma kid Kostas Fragoulis. At the same time, the Roma communities in the suburbs of Thessaloniki, Athens and other towns are rising up, fighting with the cops out side the hospital Kostas is being treated in, even outside the court where the cop murderer appeared. Barricades built of burning tyres and vehicles have been erected in their neighborhoods. In Ioannina a cop station was attacked during a protest, in Volos the ruling party New Democracy had its local HQ destroyed, in a Athens metro station a cop was cornered and had to be rescued by the scum of the OPKE special unit, that are also being used to attempt to put down the riots in the Roma areas. Spontaneous attacks are increasing, while the Roma are calling for an insurrection and further protests are planned outside the court and hospital.

Volos, Greece: Responsibility claim for the breaking of the New Democracy headquarters during the 6th December march.

Posted on 2022/12/08 - 2022/12/08 by darknights

During today’s march, a political intervention took place, specifically breaking into the offices of the New Democracy Party. We broke the glass entrance, then went up to the 2nd floor, broke the door and threw white paint.

The above action took place on the occasion of the attempted state murder of 16-year-old K. Fragoulis on the eve of December 6, the boiler room explosion that led to the death of a student in a primary school in Serres and the provocative attitude of the Prime Minister who praised the cops with 600 euros.

AGAINST THE STATE AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY

WE ORGANIZE HORIZONTALLY AGAINST THE HIERARCHY AND RESPOND IN THE STREETS

NOT TO GET USED TO DEATH AND REPRESSION

IT WASN’T THE GASOLINE, IT WASN’T THE MONEY.

THE COPS SHOT BECAUSE HE WAS A ROMA.

Patras, Greece: Responsibility claim for attacks on supermarket chains

Posted on 2022/12/08 - 2022/12/08 by darknights

At dawn on Monday 5 December, we attacked supermarkets of large chains in the city of Patras, with sledgehammers, causing damage. We chose the supermarkets:

Sklavenitis on the El. Stratiotou

Sklavenitis in Notaras

Market In on Souda Street

It is known to all that accuracy and the unbearable cost of living are not “sky-high” concepts that “happened” to be created by the war in Ukraine and the revaluations it brings, as the Greek state sells as a narrative. On the contrary, they are the result of an increasingly deepening crisis that capital has been in for at least 15 years. In the midst of this crisis, and the opportunity it presents to the world’s rulers, wealth is being redistributed, geopolitical balances are being redistributed, new energy hubs are being created and overall competition is intensifying. In this context, the effect on everyday life for the vast majority of society is more brutal than ever. More and more impoverishment and misery, the imposition of a working dark ages and modern slavery.

In this crisis, the state and capital are attempting ever harder, more totalitarian changes in their functioning, imposing ever harsher conditions on our lives, creating the necessary conditions and situations for the further plundering and exploitation of our lives and the natural world for the sake of their profitability.

The Greek state is certainly moving in the same direction. Only in the last 10-15 years we can mention the memoranda, the neglect and dismantling of the public health care system for the benefit of private interests, the continuous subsidizing of banks from state funds, costs that fall on the backs of society, financial scandals in every sector, bills for the exploitation of the environment, the dismantling of the remaining public character in education and health, the anti-labour bill – the infernal Hantzidakis bill, the tightening of repression and criminal treatment especially of those who struggle and so much more. Greece: Scenes from the riot in Exarcheia after a 16-year-old kid was shot in the head by cops in Thessaloniki

Posted on 2022/12/06 - 2022/12/06 by darknights

Dec 5, 2022

It was during the early hours of Monday 5 December 2022, when a 16 year old kid was shot in the head by a greek police officer of the DIAS motorcycle unit during a car chase in Thessaloniki.

He was accused that he filled his pick-up truck with 20 euros worth of petrol and left the petrol station without paying. Following the news and his dire physical condition, riots erupted in the city of Thessaloniki, located in the north of Greece, later on the same day. At the same time, in Athens, several different protests were held in the evening of December the 5th. The protest in Exarcheia, held in front of the memorial of Alexis Grigoropoulos, (a 15 year old kid that was shot dead by a cop on 6 December 2008, sparking the events that would lead to massive riots all over Greece, known as the December Revolt) soon turned into a march that led to a riot, as seen in the video.

It has to be noted, that today 6 December, protests have been planned in dozens of cities and towns all over Greece, in remembrance of the December Revolt and the murder of Alexandros Grigoropoulos by the police in Exarcheia 15 years ago to this day.

Thessaloniki, Greece: Responsibility claim for a raid on a riot squad of MAT

Posted on 2022/10/17 by darknights

…And life became the biggest lie

There is no police brutality

There are only bloodthirsty protesters in a brutal fury

with the breakneck speed of desperation

the com-mat-asfalites1, the chemical tear gas, the shields.

the helmets, the incubating cages

the snake eggs of the fascist crawling society….

George Tsingos and the Black Circles

Watching the domestic news of the last few months, one will see that despite the social reactions that have developed, the isolation and suppression of the antagonistic movement as well as the imposition of unprecedented social control measures remains a key objective of the Greek state. The gentrification of Exarcheia includes the construction of a metro station in the square, the redevelopment-privatisation of the Strefi Hill and the blocking of access to the Polytechnic and aims to uproot the revolutionary tradition of the area. Similarly, the installation of MAT platoons and all kinds of cops inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims to sterilize the university premises from any voice of opposition to the bosses. But beyond hitting the movements, the hiring of thousands of new cops, the millions given to equip the police and their constant presence in the public arena on every occasion set the tone of the new social contract. And all this at a time when society is being impoverished anew, with precision pushing those from below to the limits of survival. In a nutshell as Petsas arrogantly informed us adaptation (to capitalist and state dictates) or death.

The effort by the current government to restructure the education system and especially the universities begins the very next day after its election with the abolition of the university asylum. Their pretext was to crack down on lawlessness and instil a sense of security. This was followed by the passing of Law 4777 in the midst of quarantine to avoid major social reactions. The response to those that were manifested was a display of fierceness and brutality. Just a few examples:

  •  the pulling of a gun by a cop at the ΑΣΣΟΕ (Athens School of Economics)
  •  the two evacuations of the occupied rectorate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the space of one month in 2021
  • the evacuation of the steki at the Biologcko
  •  the hundreds of injuries, beatings and arrests in the last two years in student mobilizations
  •  the firing of asphyxiant inside the ΣΘΕ (School of Sciences) in broad daylight with hundreds of students and workers trapped inside the building and suffocating
  • the hitting and severely injuring of a student with a flashbang grenade fired at point-blank range
  •  the murderous attack on the crowd attending Thanasis Papakostantinou’s concert during the 3rd Libertarian Festival of Occupied Spaces and Collectives, which almost resulted in people being trampled.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the attack on the MAT (riot squad) at Ch.Trikoupis

Posted on 2022/05/05 - 2022/05/05 by darknights

RESPONSIBILITY CLAIM FOR THE ATTACK ON THE MAT SQUAD IN CH.TRIKOPI

On Saturday 2/4 we chose to attack the MAT squad in front of the PASOK offices in Charilaou Trikoupis. The attack turned out exactly as we had planned where, with great ease and comfort, we arrived in front of the frightened eyes of the cops who started with quick steps backwards throwing tear gas from a distance, not having the possibility to do more.

The plan had two stages, with the first being to attack the cops at the PASOK offices with 30 Molotov cocktails and the second being to create fires in the surrounding streets simply as a demonstration and reminder of how easily we can be next to you.

While the second part of the plan was being implemented the DELTA/DRASI group made their appearance. Of course from our side there was no concern from their presence as their appearance was part of our planning and those comrades who had the role of attacking them attacked them. The reaction of DELTA/DRASI was to be expected, they stayed pinned to their motorbikes, sent from afar what they could send and did not take a single step to approach us. The mere sight of a few Molotov cocktails and the ready crowd, terrified them and awakened memories of old times. As a consequence of this fear, we were given the comfort of entering the Exarchia neighbourhood with the crowd of people without any problem. We then remained for some time in the surrounding alleys observing their movements for future attacks.

The choice of the Exarcheia neighborhood to carry out the attack was not accidental. The rebellious Exarcheia is a reference point for the antagonistic movement, a neighbourhood of politicisation, fermentation and insurgency. From the anti-dictatorial struggles and clashes of the Polytechnic uprising of ’73, the murder of comrade Michalis Kaltezas* and the Chemistry revolt of ’85**, the murder of the student Alexandros Grigoropoulos and the December 2008 uprising to the defence of our neighbourhood by groups of fascists and parastatals in the ridiculous Macedonia rallies of 18-19, Exarcheia has always been a place of freedom, comradeship and struggle for those who fight to overthrow the rotten reality of the state. Athens, Greece: 4-11 June Week of Reconstruction of the Alexandros Grigoropoulos Monument

Posted on 2022/05/05 by darknights

Revolutionary memory is not an empty letter. It is not a museum affair. It is not a dry ritual that is exhausted in anniversary recurrences. Revolutionary memory is the thread that binds the past to the present and that lays the foundations for a future that will do justice to those who sacrificed for a different world. A world where no one will see the sky through barbed wire, where no one will have their bodies broken in the sweatshops of class exploitation, where no one will be murdered on land and sea borders, in police stations, in the urban ghettos of metropolises. Revolutionary memory brings together those who are missing from our side, making them complicit in our subversive projects and dreams. Revolutionary memory, if we give it the value it deserves, becomes a subversive project, a springboard for struggle, a source of inspiration and disposition in the beautiful cause of freedom. For the words that will form a conceptual framework different from the one spoken today by politicians, economists, military analysts, industrialists, the golden boys of the stock exchange, journalists. Or they will be words armed ready to become an impulsive energy. Or they will be nothing.

The metropolises are the modern steam engines, they are the universal factories of capitalism. The transparent sweatshops where capital’s domination, control and repression of the explosive contradictions it produces are absolutely institutionalized.

The crimes of the state and capitalism within the metropolises become isolated incidents. They are recorded in fragmentary narratives by the bourgeois ideology that imposes its hegemony. Our own memory, which should highlight them and transform them into social consciousness, into a perception of our role and position, is constantly absent. When it is not, it is blurred, colourless, non-existent, empty of content. Fascist censorship here has for the moment been replaced by a new form of active censorship. The production of incessant distorted knowledge, the methodical reversal of facts, their insidious substitution. It is revisionism that attacks consciences, memories, the very history of the struggles. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the burning of the Exarcheia Police Station on 4.2.22

Posted on 2022/02/12 - 2022/02/12 by darknights

We take responsibility for the burning of the Exarcheia Police Station on 4.2.22. The attack was carried out by a group of comrades who, armed with the weapons of comradeship and organization, defied police state and succeeded in destroying the myth of omnipotence that the police systematically cultivates in this area. We attacked with more than 10 Molotov cocktails at the outpost and the entrance of the police station, driving the cops outside into disorderly flight.

A few words about the incident

The tragic management of the pandemic, the sweeping changes it has brought about and the developments of the period are revealing of what it has brought about to the social base. Inflation, poverty, energy poverty, the daily deaths from COVID-19 which reach 24,000 are the results of capitalist management in order to recover the profitability of capital.

At the same time, the indirect reduction of wages against the government narrative, the ever greater devaluation of the Ε.Σ.Υ. (National Health Service) are increasingly impoverishing the social base. On the other hand, the cynicism of the rulers is reflected in their statements showing how indifferent they are to the lives of the impoverished.

The recent statements of Mitsotakis: “we may have had 16,000 dead but we saved tourism”, the admission of Plevris: “we have no communism and everything that is commanded is paid for” and the reference of Skertzos that it is a luxury to support the Ε.Σ.Υ. , leave no room for doubt.

At the same time, Development Minister Adonis Georgiades announced the end of the pandemic, at the same time that patients continue to die in beds and the medical and nursing staff, being understaffed, is collapsing from the workload. Athens, Greece: A brief review of the events of the last days in Exarcheia

Posted on 2022/01/19 - 2022/01/19 by darknights

We raise this update as we have noticed that in the mainstream media and the wider media, the events of the last few days, as well as the solidarity march for the Biologio steki, completely silence the fact that Exarcheia was, is and will be a neighbourhood that fights against gentrification and repression. We want to make it clear that these events are mass actions spontaneously flanked by people and prove that no matter how much Mitsotakis and his whole family want to, Exarcheia will not submit to their vices.

Wednesday 12/01/22

Since this morning, bulldozers and contractor crews arrive in Messolonghiou and proceed to excavate the pavement in order to electrify the new building where a luxury apartment block is being erected. After the work is temporarily halted due to complaints from residents, police forces arrive at the site. In the evening of the same day, a banner is displayed against the gentrification of Exarchia and people cover the holes that the bulldozers have made in the pedestrian street with earth. Athens, Greece: Tearing up Messolonghiou for luxury apartments + Gathering & Intervention against the destruction of Messolonghiou

Posted on 2022/01/19 - 2022/01/19 by darknights

This morning a bulldozer was tearing up the pedestrian street of Messolonghiou for the electrification of a building of luxury apartments.

Some people from the neighborhood approached the workers and asked them the reason for the works. The contractor said it was ΔΕΗ (electric company) works to supply electricity to the building intended for luxury apartments. When asked for the contractor’s documents, he refused them as he also denied the connection of the works with the building, while at the same time they were going in and out of the building.

The individuals managed to stop the works and the contractor left, but Messolonghi remains a wreck. 15 minutes later 6 DRASI and DELTA motorcycles arrived at the site and searched for the people.

Exarcheia is a neighbourhood under threat of gentrification. Residents are being displaced, squats are being vacated, rents are going up. This building in Messolonghiou, intended for luxury housing for the rich and tourists, is another example of the march of capital. Every day we see the neighbourhood being changed and transformed into a playground for big investors. At the same time the square and the turnpike are under constant threat.
