The constant distortion of reality by the authorities and their sycophants everywhere.

On 22/10/2021 the 18 year old Roma Nikos Sampanis was shot with 36 bullets by the uniformed scum of the DIAS unit (motorcycle cops) in the area of Perama. This was preceded by the torture of Vassilis Maggos, which led to his death, followed by the rape at the Omonia Police Station, while on 22/09/2022 16-year-old Michalis was dragged and abandoned by an police vehicle in Ampelokipi in Thessaloniki, resulting in him breathing his last breath in hospital.

A little over a year after the murder of Sampanis, the 16-year-old Roma Kostas Fragoulis was murdered in Diavata, Thessaloniki on 05/06/2022 with a bullet in the head by a cop of the DIAS unit as he committed the crime of not paying for twenty euros worth of petrol.

On 11/11/2023 shortly before midnight after a chase, the cops once again murdered a Roma minor, 17-year-old Christos Michalopoulos. Two and a half months before, Kostas Manioudakis has left his last breath due to a beating by cops of the Souda police station during a random check. One month after the murder of Michalopoulos, a cop beats and abandons 19-year-old Ayse in the city of Xanthi, killing her.

To these incidents we could add countless beatings, torture, murders, all carried out by the police and silenced by the judiciary and the media.

In the few cases when police violence cannot be hidden, the mouthpieces of the state apparatus are quick to present the obvious as an isolated incident, that it was a bad moment or that the cops were in self-defense or that justice will be decided at a later stage.

It is worth mentioning that they try to throw tons of mud at the murdered person. Whether it is the criminal record, the social group to which they belong, or their political beliefs are emphasised over and over again, implying, where they do not say it outright, that it is a good thing the cop’s hand pulled the trigger. The presentation of the cop-killer is diametrically opposed. A family man with children, hard working for the safety of the citizens, with a social contribution, particularly beloved by the rest of the gang (“Hellenic Police”).

The media narrative changes the times when social revolt erupts and targets the perpetrators of so many murders. Suddenly the value of human life has become the ultimate good and the justly targeted uniformed killers become heroes wounded in the line of duty and unfairly targeted. Those who experience state and capitalist violence in their own skin and at times respond combatively to it are portrayed as brutal criminals with murderous intent.

To the apologists of the police: you and those who settle for the fairy tale you are selling are ridiculous low lives without a shred of dignity and morality.

To put it clearly and succinctly there is no room for doubt, the Greek police operate as a gang of armed potential murderers with complete impunity.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for placing of explosive device at a branch of Eurobank by Cell ‘Lambros Fountas’

On March 9, just before the day changed to 10, the day on which 13 years ago in Dafni, the short revolutionary Lambros Fountas was killed in an exchange of fire with cops, we placed a device1 in a branch of Eurobank on Papanikoli Street in Halandri.

Walking alongside or in the turmoil of the days we decided to make our statement as combatants of the social war. Apart from the timeless and undeniable symbolism of attacking a bank, we cannot fail to mention the fact that this bank, apart from being located in one of the most central nodes of Halandri, is only two blocks away from the police station of the area.

Because memory is not rubbish and the struggle against oblivion is a struggle for freedom we attempted to contribute to the aggravation of the social war. A war that the state is fighting, either indifferently, as in the case of Tempi, or by targeting, as in the case of the poverty-stricken Fragoulis and Sampanis2. Of course, in this field our own side could not fail to count losses, such as that of our comrade and member of the revolutionary organisation EA [Επαναστατικός Αγώνας, Revolutionary Struggle] , Lambros Fountas.

In no way can the Tempi incident be equated with the military choice of the state to attack the oppressed in general, let alone the deeply ideological choice of eliminating a strategic enemy of the state who fell bleeding from the fire of the cop killers in a preparatory action of the organisation. The comrade with his actions gave flesh and bones to the slogan “Fear must change sides” which is the political issue of our days, accepting and accepting the all-out attack of the state and capital, we are called to change the correlations and fight back.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for incendiary attack on a retired cop’s house by ‘Andreas Baader Cell’

We take responsibility for the incendiary attack on the house of retired cop Fotis Theodoros in Kaisariani, at 5 Manoliassas Street. We were very pleased to learn in the following days that a second retired cop lived in the same building.

The reason for this attack was the state murder of Kostas Fragoulis by the uniformed garbage of the DIAS unit. Once again, the agents of the state apparatus murder in cold blood, but this time, as last year with Nikos Sampanis, the race of the victim became the main issue in the political and social arena. We as anarchists do not need to analyse our position, it is clear. But we ought to recall that this is not a random incident but a manifestation of the wider war that is being waged unabated by the state and capitalism against the oppressed of this world and especially against those who dare to question their domination. We take a stand in this war and declare that we will walk through your homes and over your dead bodies.

Shortly after the murder of Kostas Fragoulis, the police released a text to all cops, explaining how to be careful and how to avoid or manage attacks either while on duty or in their homes. The attacks in Sygrou, Patras, Zografou and now here have shown once again how important our organization is and how willpower humiliates the stupid plans of the state. Here we have to mention that the target was chosen by chance and only because of its location, that is, within a stone’s throw from the YMET headquarters (riot cop unit) and apparently we approached-we left-we fled and nobody bothered us.

The 2nd main reason for the attack ( that is, apart from the targeting of the cops anyway) was, as the comrades in the attack in Zografou put it, the attack on the doctrine of “law and order” with which the New Democracy has been doing politics from the beginning and hopes to be transformed again into thousands of votes by their stooges. We don’t want to say anything else the rest is well known and well said, we prefer to put it into practice. Let the results of our actions speak!

FEAR CHANGES SIDE

On Thursday night 12/1 we organized and carried out an ambush against cops of the DIAS group in the area of Zografou. The way the ambush was set up and the intensity of the attack we carried out, resulted in the serious injury of a cop and the total destruction of a motorbike -only this one arrived at the scene- of this particular group. The high strength of firepower used was proportional to the impunity of this group, which already counts 2 murdered Roma in the last 16 months and dozens of incidents of “police arbitrariness”. This was a powerful response to the crescendo of police repression orchestrated by the New Democracy government, which has given the police force free rein to beat, torture and shoot in cold blood, knowing that none of them will be punished and their crimes will be covered up by the lies of journalists, the impunity of the bourgeois justice system and the cover of the political leadership.

We say to the cops in the ranks and to their superiors. For the wanton violence you have used, we will punish you with our own hands. Your colleague’s cries of despair are proof of your weakness when faced with organized forces of revolutionary violence. Panic, pain, fear, insecurity, these are the emotions we offered you during the ambush against you. Draw your conclusions from them because your sense of omnipotence ended with a bang in a dead end at Zografou. With this action we want to pass the message that with organization, planning and discipline we can hit the forces of repression by causing fear and material costs to both animate and inanimate material.

The law and order doctrine that the New Democracy government has been applying since the first moment of its election has left behind dead, wounded, tortured and raped. The constant impunity of the cops is not an accidental fact but the essence of this doctrine. The last link in a huge chain of incidents is the cold-blooded execution of the 16-year-old Roma Kostas Fragoulis, because he ‘dared’ not to pay 20 euros for petrol. Before the truth about the event has even come to light, police reporters have begun to weave the dominant narrative. The journalistic vagrancy is talking about a maniacal driver who rammed a police vehicle to get away from the chase. It is the compounded lie that as another truth will give extenuating circumstances to the thug of the DI.AS. In the same way that the uniformed scum in Perama were exonerated. The journalistic sycophants, bloodthirsty in the arena of spectacle, constitute the state narrative that adorns the prestige of the criminal nature of tyranny.

When the state murdered the 15-year-old anarchist comrade Alexandros Grigoropoulos, the media saw vandalism and riots. When the battalions of Chrysochoidis executed comrade Lambros Fountas, the terror panels of Lambropoulos and Souliotis spoke of an Albanian thug. In Perama 38 bullets in the body of Nikos Sampanis shielded the self-defence of the motorized assault battalions of the DI.AS. And when the lie does not overshadow the truth, they bury it by overemphasizing it in the next main news story, just as they buried the murder of 16-year-old Michalis in Ditika, when he was swept away by a police service vehicle. As Direct Action Cells we take responsibility for the incendiary attack on the home owned by the child rapist, pimp and member of the New Democracy party Elias Michos, and his ex-wife Elizabeth Lekka. In the early morning of 23/10, we placed a low-powered incendiary/explosive device at the entrance of their apartment building in the Attica area.

For those who still insist on not understanding the systemic support and cover-up of police and fascist attacks, for those who still insist that the judiciary is neutral and independent of the domestic bourgeois elite and the whole mechanism of consolidating and monopolizing the violence it practices, for those who were not satisfied with the acquittal of the pimp and child rapist of the New Democracy, Nikos Georgiadis, the “special-friendly treatment” of the mafia boss Menios Fourthiotis, but also the full release on parole of the New Democracy’s Petros Lefkowitz for the serial rapes of his daughter since she was 11 years old, we would like to list only a few of the recent cases where the full complicity of the civil justice system with the scum who destroyed lives was proven. All this is already known, we are simply quoting it in a condensed form to make it absolutely visible that STATE AND CAPITAL VICTORY, VIOLATE AND KILL, that their very nature is exploitation, barbarism, devaluation of lives and the imposition of terror, and that every aspect of political and social life is class and value-determined. It is a SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING TERROR, VIOLENCE AND DEATH, with the corresponding mechanisms of communication management and laundering.

Two years ago, after a solidarity meeting for those arrested during a march against the burning of garbage by Lafarge / AGET in Volos, the comrade Vassilis Maggos was arrested. The cops of the Magnesia Police Directorate torture him and, after covering their voracious violent appetites, throw him into the street. The blows were fatal for the comrade, who breathes his last breath on 13/7/2020. This state murder is still being covered up today by the state-judicial apparatus, as only three cops were indicted for the simple misdemeanour of “dangerous bodily harm”, while no names have been released, and now that the case is being tried, the “law and order enforcers” are committing violence against the people in solidarity who had gathered at the Volos courts.
Last summer, the deafening case of the pimping and rape of a minor girl by her father and a cop at the Ilioupolis police station came to light, with the knowledge and the brutal cover-up of the other state agents of that department. The pimps, rapists and cover-ups are still circulating among us, the case was covered up and buried, until the next and the time after that when we will learn again about trafficking and (child) rape rings involving cops and “prominent” households.
One year ago, on 22/10/2021, cops execute Nikos Sampanis in Perama, gunning him down with 36 bullets after a chase due to racial profiling, and defying orders from the operations centre not to follow the stolen vehicle. The cops claimed they were on “defense,” which of course was debunked by video footage and eyewitnesses. The follow-up is predictable. Immediately all seven were acquitted, returned to work as normal and are walking among us. Athens, Greece: Anarchist comrade Nikos Romanos denounces deep parastate with far-right tendencies

Our anarchist comrade Nikos Romanos releases a text denouncing the parastate and fascist actions of the Greek cops inflicted upon him, his family, friends and comrades. The comrade has been under surveillance on and off since his release three years ago by the fascist scum of the Anti-Terrorist Unit, which has now hit a new level since the beginning of the hunger strike by his friend and anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis, who has been subject to further imprisonment despite serving the required amount of time that would trigger his release.

The repression our comrade is facing should be considered and analysed within the international context of repressive tactics by states against those who dare to fight back without fear. With the current international environment, such as the war in Ukraine, the impending economical crisis threatening on the horizon, technological developments, the repressive apparatus of all states is entering a new stage to counter the struggles that are coming.

Nothing is over, the conflict continues…

The events that I am about to recount took place on Monday 20/6 in the afternoon outside my friend’s house in the centre of Athens. They concern yet another incident where police surveillance by the anti-terrorist police crosses the boundaries and red lines that exist and defines the peculiar relationship between a secret service and its potential target victims.

So let’s get to the facts. The hunger strike of our friend and comrade Giannis Michailidis, who is fighting against the arbitrariness and methods of the bourgeois justice system by putting his body in a barricade, has been going on for the last period of time. He is in a regime of preventive detention because while he has served the sentence imposed on him, the judicial councils, acting as thought police, reject his requests for release, foreseeing his future behaviour as other Pythias*. In essence, they are punishing him not for what he has done and for which, according to their laws, he has served his sentence, but for what they think he will do, based on interpretations that have nothing to do with reality.

During this period, the surveillance of the anti-terrorist police against me has become a daily occurrence, while their presence outside my family’s house has become daily and provocative, with large groups of anti-terrorist police officers defiantly rushing around in their vehicles. This event was interrupted following an engagement with these police officers on Saturday 18/6, where it was emphatically stressed to them that their defiance must end and that their continued presence there would not be accepted. Which was accepted and they ceased their defiant presence, so there is no point in me expanding on evidence that exists and will not be published unless there is a substantial reason. Athens, Greece: Text of two imprisoned comrades

Comrades, we are writing to you from the penitentiary hellholes of Korydallos and Avloras, two more detention centres, both of which aim at our physical confinement and remorse of our political conscience. By making our case public, we would like the reason for our detention and evidence of the practices of the EΛ.ΑΣ National Police used against us to come out.

In the early hours of 14 November 2021 we didn’t stop during a check carried out by a DIAS cops bikes team in the area of New Faliro. Immediately a chase was launched against us by a civilian vehicle that did not bear the characteristics of the service. As white people, we did not receive a plethora of bullets, but in the area of Moschato, the car rammed us while we were moving and threw us on the road (with a high risk of being fatally injured). Our arrest was linked to an attack on the Piraeus traffic police earlier that night, which took place more than three kilometers from the checkpoint (the checkpoint was being controlled by fixed units outside the stinking Skye channel). We were taken to the ΓΑΔΑ, (Athens Police HQ) where we refused to give fingerprints, which, as well as genetic material, were ordered to be compulsorily taken a day before we went before an interrogator in an attempt to identify us with the evidence found in the attack and with previous cases. With invalid evidence against us, it was decided to remand us in custody on the pretext of identical clothing, as shown by video footage from the department.

This case is a fiasco and a desperate attempt by the police to win a major victory and legitimize the new criminal code in the eyes of the public. A decisive role in this is played by the state disinformation media, which first ran to prejudge us, using against us evidence with no legal basis – they talked about a yafka house(safe-house), an explosives manufacturing plant and spread false news about the first Molotov cocktail detention in Greece, thus exaggerating the work of the police and the necessity of the changes in the criminal code. The changes to article 272 and how they relate to the changes to 264 and 270 are intended to spread terror in the anarchist/anti-racist movement, to anyone who resists or questions the sovereignty of the state and its partners. As anarchists we are not surprised by this case and how it has developed so far, we do not believe in bourgeois justice and have no illusions about who it serves. The reality of the state, capital and patriarchy is misery and death. It is imposed as normality through the rhetoric and propaganda of the rulers, an impoverishment that is condensed into a lifetime of work in suffocating spaces and times, with unpaid overtime, counter shifts, ridiculous wages and high cost of living. The unhealthy social-working environment for the physical and mental condition of the underprivileged. The patriarchal violence that perpetuates the nightmare of the Greek family and protects the gendered relations of power-openness-oppression. To the detention camps for immigrants, to the imprisonment of those who resist and those who somehow threaten the national-state sovereignty and its political-economic interests. Still, anyone who is left over from the cycle of perpetuating the capitalist market is marginalized, paranormalized, and when they don’t comply they are shot with .38 bullets. Murders christened workplace accidents, murders at the border for the national ideal, murders of inmates for lack of medical care, femicides christened family tragedies, murders of individuals for deviating from gender norms, murders to preserve the integrity of “Sacred Property”, millions of murders of non-human animals on the altar of capital… And we who, in spite of the times, will not get used to death.

The December 2008 uprising has left in our consciences a signal of militant resistance of the oppressed. It did not come out of nowhere. It was the explosion that followed after the conflicts and struggles of the previous years. Today, in the face of repressive mechanisms that are constantly being technologically equipped and reinforced by the hiring of cops, and listening to the legacy of the global uprisings of the past, we insist that faith and consistency in struggle are necessary to create cracks in the face of domination. Our organization and will to go on the counterattack illuminates the weak points of the opponents, terrifies the state and its vassals, and gives strength to those fighting for freedom.

The Greek state since its foundation has included in its territory minorities that do not identify with its national characteristics and is forcibly trying to integrate them. Several have succumbed, some have been expelled, others have been exterminated and others are still fighting for the autonomy of their communities. Roma communities are the target of racist rhetoric that maps them as dangerous to the national body. From the media’s promotion of them as uncivilized and criminals, the endorsement of their physical extermination by trashy cops, the judicial acquittal of the killers and the silence – or consent – of the householders, the state’s strategy of control and assimilation is being implemented. On 22/10/21 the 18-year-old Roma Nikos Sampanis attempts to escape from a chase by a group of DIAS – and under the accusation that he was committing a crime – is murdered in cold blood by 7 determined uniformed bastards. In their form is personified what we hated most. And against them, they have not only what they aim at: for all those murdered by state, capital and patriarchy we will avenge. On Wednesday 8/12 at midnight, we set up a trap on Katehaki Street for passing DIAS motorbikes. We had ensured the safety of ourselves and other passing vehicles. Through our own fault the motorbike we targeted overtook the burning molotovs and no cop injury was caused. However, the uniformed bastards who were spared for seconds got a clear message by looking fearfully at the fire that broke out a few metres behind them. Ahead of them, they will meet the new attacks and the struggles that will continue.
