Communiqué from Luca Dolce (aka Stecco) on the recent sentences against Palestine Action

I recently learned of the convictions of four comrades from Palestine Action in the UK for their actions against the Israeli arms company Elbit Systems UK.
The solidarity and struggle last winter—with the hunger strike inside prisons that united prisoners internationally—led to moments of unity and awareness in the internationalist struggle against the genocidal war in Gaza and against colonialism. It was a surge of energy that brought many people together. Months have passed, and the massacre continues.

In Kramatorsk, in Ukraine, during these days, those technological gadgets called drones continue to terrorize populations—the same is happening in Russia. Iran and Turkey continue to use this new paradigm of modern warfare to attack the Kurdish resistance in the mountains, while for Palestine, there are no more words to describe the reality we know and keep bringing up. Despite the brutal existence the population is forced to endure, it still clings to life amid the rubble. We know the objectives of Israel and the West.

In Ankara, with the NATO summit underway, these bastard torturers are doing business right now, and amid treaties, contracts, and handshakes, only one thing troubles them—and it’s not war, because that’s what they thrive on. (Prison) walls don’t protect people—they protect the status quo!

I’ve spent nearly 27 years of my life in prison. Eleven of those years were spent in solitary confinement. I’ve now been living in freedom again for three years. That’s how I’ve come to realize that prisons aren’t just buildings made of concrete and steel. They are always also an expression of a society that relies on exclusion; it is above all the marginalized members of society who end up in prison.

In school, in the mainstream media, and even at the regulars’ table (today that’s social media), people say that prisons serve the purpose of security. In reality, however, they manage the failure of this society. They manage and punish poverty.

I experienced this firsthand during my years in prison: almost all the people I encountered were living in precarious circumstances, and many had immigrant backgrounds. This is the second key factor that puts people in the crosshairs of the justice system. Statement by Benjamin “Champagne” Song (U$A)

Benjamin “Champagne” Song was sentenced to 100 years in the Texas Prairieland ‘Antifa’ Frame-Up, solidarity to the defendants and all those who resist, tear all borders and prisons to the ground:

I don’t hate. I don’t hate anyone. I don’t hate cops. I don’t hate Trump. I don’t hate Nazis. My beliefs are composed thus:

First, that we should help each other.

And second, that we should protect one another.

I never want to see anyone get hurt. I never want to see good people, standing up for what they believe in, gunned down in the street. What we all saw happen to Renee Good and Alex Pretti is my worst nightmare.

It was the kind of thing I had feared for a long time, after dealing with officers who could be reckless, who could be bullies, who could be violent. But fear is not hate. Sadness is not hate. Wanting people to live is not hate.

While sifting through the archives of a life of struggles, we came across this deeply touching letter that Sara wrote to her coworkers in January 2018. The letter was written in the wake of a dismissal for disciplinary reasons—an act of insubordination in defence of her dignity, which she asserted with her head held high. At the time, the text had also been forwarded to some of her closest comrades.

It is striking, after all these years, to (re)discover that there are no differences—neither in style nor, above all, in terms of pride, tenacity, and the absolute primacy of ethics—between this and other more recent and “political” documents, such as, to name just one example, the statement Sara delivered in the Perugia courthouse on January 15, 2025, during the preliminary hearing of the Sibilla trial. This demonstrates—if proof were ever needed—that Sara was the same person in the presence of everyone: in the presence of colleagues, comrades, and inquisitors alike. And she has remained so over the years. Far from being a solitary figure leading a double life, as some journalists have written— always ready to play the tune that best suits those in power.

Her anarchism never required further clarification or adjectives. Her’s was a personality marked by proud, indomitable individualism; one that zealously guarded her individual freedom, insisting at every opportunity on thinking solely for herself, without taking orders from anyone or giving them to anyone. At the same time, and without any contradiction—indeed, with the utmost naturalness—her universal interpretation of social events was always marked by an unyielding class consciousness, consistent with anarchist principles. Open Letter from imprisoned anarchist Komar (Surabaya-Indonesia)

My friends and brothers and sisters,
inside and outside these walls,
Peace be upon you.

I’m writing this letter to let you know that, God willing, I’m doing alright. A while ago I came down with a mild fever, but alhamdulillah, I’m still holding on, still under His grace and protection. I hope all of you are safe, healthy, and kept well. Aamiin.

My dear friends,

I’ve lost count of how many letters failed before this one finally made it out. There are barely any writing supplies in here, and when there are, they never last long. Even now, as I write this, I’m still being kept in quarantine. I don’t know for how much longer. Though honestly, I don’t expect anything from being moved to another block. To me, it’s all the same. The only thing I truly want, the only thing I keep hoping for, is FREEDOM. I want to go home. I want to eat my mother’s cooking again. I want to sit with my family. Defence Statement of Adit, Anarchist Prisoner in Chaos Star Case (Indonesia)

Your Honorable Panel of Judges,

After everything that has happened regarding the act of violence I committed in the case of the burning of this police post, I have gained many things that I must take upon myself. About how the state —long before what I did— has carried out acts of violence on a far greater scale.

To be honest, after the defense I presented in the case of the August 2025 demonstration was rejected, everything feels pointless. My defense in the previous trial was already very long, explaining everything in great detail. Yet my suspicion that the verdict had been determined from the beginning only grew stronger when the decision was finally struck with the gavel. The state has sentenced me to two years in prison, and now the state demands again that I be given the same sentence. And for that, I only have very little room to defend the violence that I have committed.

It has become an open secret that all forms of violence and abuse of power by state apparatus —(read: the police)— have produced forms of human rights violations. One of the most severe and intolerable is the taking of human life. The Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS) recorded 602 incidents of violence involving members of the Indonesian National Police from July 2024 to June 2025. From the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Randi and Yusuf, Afif Maulana, Gamma, Affan Kurniawan, Arianto Tawakkal, to Eko Prasetyo—the most recent—killed by the police. Hello comrades, warm greetings from Bandung to Bristol.

We introduce ourselves as prisoners from what is known as the “Chaos Star.” This correspondence carries fragments of memory from years marked by chaos, surveillance, and arrests. We send this message from behind the bars of a prison in—so called—Indonesia. We are currently serving sentences related to the August 2025 unrest, the pipe bomb attack on a police post in December 2024, and the destruction of Bank Hana during the anti–TNI Bill protests in March and May Day 2025.

The unrest last August became the largest manhunt against activists and anarchists since 1998. This year, 703 political prisoners—although we reject that label—are still undergoing legal processes or are detained. We prefer to be called Anarchist Prisoners rather than Political Prisoners. This is an issue we want to critique. The label “political prisoner” places us within certain relations of power: we are framed as symbols of resistance, victims or survivors of a regime, or tools for legitimizing particular political agendas. Instead, we are Anarchist Prisoners. We reject the very foundation of politics itself. Our emphasis is on the autonomy of the subject and individual disobedience, without serving any project or representation tied to political agendas. By using the label Anarchist Prisoners, we assert a distance from the language of power and maintain a position outside the political field that seeks to regulate, define, and justify everything. “Yet Another War of Extermination” – Letter by anarchist prisoner Luca ‘Stecco’ Dolce (Italy)

Now that the masses all over the world have expressed their solidarity with Gaza, I’d be curious to know how social scientist Elias Canetti(1) would describe his concept of the “masses” in such a technological, warmongering and at the same time, exterminating age as ours. He says that mass society exists in the mind of human beings before it materially expresses itself. If ancient societies chose certain social and economic forms of mere subsistence, it was because they deliberately chose not to use bureaucratic or authoritarian methods: they foresaw their dangers. Our ancestors, therefore, were perfect political animals, aware and active observers of the community’s social life.

So what are these squares and streets full of people today, if in our daily lives we go back to the riverbed of a life organized and imposed by others?

Now that the “truce” in Gaza is divulged and imposed with the stamp of the army boot and the mediatic hype on the Flotilla, now that they are silencing and dampening the surge against the massacre, how to transform it into an action going beyond the manifestation and expression of opinions? Power uses human emotions as a can opener; often, the former gives its best in its “delayed reaction” empathic emotion and during “emergencies”, and it coagulates in peaks of scorn. A humanity which is nevertheless still alive despite all the efforts to atomize it. Its more progressive components are proving united in the face of the evidence of an extermination. Over the reaction timing, we should reason at length. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet understood in depth how deceitful and blackmailing the tactics of the enemies of life are, to what extent do commodities and quiet living manage to recuperate the movements, even sincere ones, at least here in Europe. In order to be more incisive and longsighted they have to doggedly overcome exactly the traps scattered over the ground of the struggle, which have the precise function of making everyone go back to the wishy-washy pen of the democratic morals, to issues such as the use of liberating violence or not, to inaction. Let’s move from emotions to self-organizing and direct action. If the roads of freedom are hindered, revolutionary movements of the past teach us opacity and going underground.

Greetings, comrades! I hope this message finds you well. As I write, I’ve just been informed that my case has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office. The police investigator told me I have only a few more days left in this cell. I hope to be transferred to Kebon Waru Prison by the end of this month, where I can reunite with other comrades, even if it’s under the condition of being “imprisoned.”

To those of you outside, trust in the fire burning in your chest–it won’t easily fade if you believe in it. This struggle is fated for anyone who stands by it. We didn’t start this war; we’re simply fighting back! We resist the tyranny of the powerful, the violence of the authorities, the massive land evictions, the monopoly on natural resources, the criminalization of those who speak out, those who defend their rights, indigenous communities, and our fellow comrades. We’re only fighting back against all of that!

Comrades, the actions you take–whether through resistance or defiance–are nothing compared to the injustice they have inflicted upon us. Stay strong and unshaken! Fighting back is the truest form of love.
