Italy: Statements by Anna Beniamino, from Rebibbia prison, and Juan Sorroche, from Terni prison, and greetings from Action for Palestine Ireland on the occasion of the “Sabotage the War and Repression” initiatives on February 7 and 8 in Viterbo

Statements by Anna Beniamino, from Rebibbia prison, and Juan Sorroche, from Terni prison, and greetings from Action for Palestine Ireland on the occasion of the “Sabotage the War and Repression” initiatives on February 7 and 8 in Viterbo

Some contributions from inside and outside prisons for the initiatives
“Sabotage war and repression” on February 7 and 8 in Viterbo

On February 7, about 150 people took to the streets in Viterbo for a radical demonstration that showed how it is possible and necessary to link the issues of war and repression: with the resistance of the Palestinian people, against defeatism in Ukraine, against repression as an expression of war policies on the home front, against 41 bis as a war prison, and in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito. These issues were explored in greater depth the following day, again in the city of Viterbo, at a very rich militant conference. Here is the text announcing the two initiatives:
https://ilrovescio.info/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Sabotiamo-la-guerra-e-la-repressione-corretto-al-23.12.pdf

While waiting to publish further material as it becomes available, we are circulating letters from Anna and Juan from the prisons where they are being held as contributions to the conference on February 8. We are also publishing a greeting from Ireland, as partial testimony to the internationalist nature of the days of struggle and discussion on February 7 and 8.

Contribution by Anna Beniamino from section AS2 of the Rebibbia women’s prison (Rome) for the conference held on February 8 in Viterbo.

First of all, thank you for asking me to contribute to the conference on War and Repression. I will try, starting from the perspective that is, despite myself, clearer here: repression and the ‘local’ repercussions, in prisons, of global policies of war, economic austerity, and the militarization of society.
I am aware that there are no theoretical recipes or detailed, definitive analyses, but only a simple and solid certainty that any real, non-virtual struggle implies reaction and repression.
The problem is ‘only’ to take this into account, to be ready and not to be paralyzed by fear of it, to build solidarity and awareness of one’s own means and ends, with continuity and tenacity. Especially in these times when preventive repressive work is spreading across multiple levels, both covert and overt.
Starting in 2022, when Alfredo was transferred to 41 bis, I wrote several times about differentiated circuits and regimes as well as, long before that, inside and outside prison, about struggles and repression, in ordinary and “extraordinary” terms; I refer back to all this and to my latest notes for the Roman assembly against 41 bis.
Essentially, I believe that the discussion should be resumed… because it is never over, nor have the ethical assumptions that supported it fallen away, so as not to leave a well-established discussion unfinished, not to leave a comrade alone, not to waste an opportunity in which a single battle has shown how we can be together, “irredeemable” and positively recognizable outside the narrow area of the anarchist movement in its content, so as not to leave alone the comrades who are now facing the various trials connected with the mobilization, because credibility is also built on continuity and consistency, because the mask has been removed from one of the pillars of bipartisan rhetoric on “mafia and terrorism,” because the “fight against terrorism” is now a global smokescreen and the current context of militarized capitalism and blatant neocolonialism in the procurement of resources and the opening of trade routes lends itself well to the reception of an anti-authoritarian, anti-militarist message of solidarity among the oppressed. Revisiting Social Revolution in the Aftermath of 2020 (USA)

Posted on 2026/02/20 by darknights

“Our task as anarchists, our main preoccupation and greatest desire, is to see the social revolution come about: a terrible upheaval of men and institutions which finally succeeds in putting an end to exploitation and establishing the reign of justice.

For we anarchists the revolution is our guide, our constant point of reference, no matter what we are doing or what problem we are concerned with. The anarchy we want will not be possible without the painful revolutionary break. If we want to avoid turning this into no more than a dream we must struggle to destroy the State and the exploiters through revolution.”
–Alfredo Bonanno, Why Insurrection?

Few anarchists today have any speak of social revolution. Many laugh off or roll their eyes at the mention of it or worse, talk about realism and reform. The few who talk talk about it as if it were a religious desire or an otherworldly force. But what is social revolution, and what is anarchy without the social revolution? A desire, a goal, an over arching project of our entire lives – without it, what are we, what are we doing, and why?

The anarchist movements in the U.S. today are largely a reactive force, always waiting for another movement or uprising to come along to attach ourselves to. Emptying anarchy of its content, anarchists are content to be the militant auxiliary or informal organizational vanguard of social movements or simply sit back and look for forms of anarchy in other peoples and places so we can rest assured that anarchy is a latent impulse in all peoples, that we are less alone than we really are and that it’s a simple matter of time before everything falls into place. If I were to sum it up, I would say that there is a great confusion about what it means to be an anarchist and what it is anarchists aspire to. Reports are confirmed that ICE agents shot 37 year old comrade Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, on the street, who was filming their repression in Minneapolis, USA. This took place in the context of widespread protests and an ongoing general strike. The USA has been rocked by the widespread deployment of a fascist personal army of Trump who are attacking and detaining people of colour. There is a media whiteout on the actual detailed news of what is taking place. The Trump administration has reached its point of no return.

ICE Agent Fatally Shoots Observer Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis (USA)

Minneapolis, MN — Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] fatally shot a woman acting as an observer on 33rd St. and Portland Ave. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI are investigating the killing. Hundreds of community members showed up in protest and many were met with chemical weapons deployed by federal agents, including one person who was shot directly in the face. She was later identified as Renee Nicole Good, 37.

Minneapolis, USA: Public Works Truck Lit on Fire in Response to Evictions

Posted on 2023/03/01 - 2023/03/01 by darknights

On the early hours of the 24th, in response to the eviction of indigenous elders, land defenders and allies from the roof depot in East Phillips, a Minneapolis public works truck near the depot was lit on fire.

Why light a truck on fire?
The city of Minneapolis continues to ignore the most vulnerable people who live here. The roof depot is an abandoned building which the city wants to demolish and use to expand the public works facility. If the depot is demolished in its current condition, it will unearth plumes of arsenic into the air. East Phillips is one of the most diverse neighborhoods of Minneapolis and is already experiencing pollution and environmental racism.

The community of East Phillips has made their demands for environmental justice known for over a year. The community wants the property converted into an urban farm. Despite overwhelming public response, the city is pushing forward with their plan. A burnt-out truck is a small price to pay to protect the health and safety of our neighbors.

We acted autonomously and encourage others to take matters into their own hands.
We stand in solidarity with comrades in Atlanta who seeking to stop the construction a cop training ground in the Weelaunee forest.

Atlanta Forest, U$A: Protester Killed, Trooper Injured in Shooting Near the Defend the Atlanta Forest Encampment

Posted on 2023/01/19 by darknights

A protester was shot dead Wednesday morning and a Georgia state trooper was shot near Atlanta’s Stop Cop City encampment.

From ‘Defend the Atlanta Forest: “Police killed a forest defender today, someone who loved the forest, someone who fought to protect the earth & its inhabitants. This is why we organize to stop Cop City. And we will. In honor of their life, and the lives of everyone killed and imprisoned by the police.”

Defend the Forest & Stop Cop City is a grassroots movement of many groups and individuals from Atlanta and beyond, working together and separately to prevent the South River Forest from becoming either a police training compound or a new Hollywood soundstage complex.

Atlanta Police Foundation is trying to build the largest police training facility in the US in Weelaunee or South River Forest, a watershed. The plans include military-grade training facilities, a mock city to practice urban warfare, dozens of shooting ranges, and a Black Hawk helicopter landing pad.

On the heels of the historic 2020 uprising following the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department, the current movement inherits all of the wisdom and ingenuity of those unforgettable days. After millions marched, demonstrated, and took action against police brutality, the Atlanta government and countless others found creative ways to give local law enforcement even more resources and funds, under the cover of “reform” and “trainings.”

The South River Forest, one of Atlanta’s largest remaining green spaces. The forest encompasses a three-hundred-acre, city-owned tract of land that sits in a poor and predominantly Black part of unincorporated DeKalb County. Underground are the much older remains of the Muscogee Creek people, who lived in what they called the Weelaunee Forest until they were forcibly removed by white settlers in the eighteen-twenties and thirties.

The plans for Cop City have been met with exuberant from forest defenders and the broader community.

At the end of July, someone set fire to a truck that had hauled construction equipment to a trailside parking lot. On its charred remains were scrawled the words “No Cop City” and “No Hollywood Distopia.”

Board of Trustees of the Atlanta Police Foundation include members from: Waffle House, Home Depot, AT&T, UPS, Delta Airlines, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch, Chick-fil-A, Equifax, and SunTrust Bank. A CALL FOR RETALIATION

The worst has come to pass.
An unnamed forest defender has been shot and killed in Weelaunee.
Consider this a call for reciprocal violence to be done to the police and their allies. On Friday, January 20th, wherever you are, you are invited to participate in a night of rage in order to honor the memory of our fallen comrade.

Minneapolis, USA: Attack on Bank of America in Solidarity With Arrested Forest Defenders

Posted on 2022/05/21 by darknights

We smashed up the windows of the Bank of America on Hennepin Ave in MPLS, and painted the front to read “DEFUND COP CITY.”

Our attack was in solidarity with those arrested in the recent raid on the forest, and we pray for the safe return of our comrades and a continuation of the fight for life against cop city and hollywood dystopia. Bank of America will need to end their sponsorship of the Atlanta Police Foundation or they will continue to be under threat from our friends across the so-called united states.

a toast to the nights we gave ’em hell.

Minneapolis, USA: Roseville Office Attacked In Solidarity With Atlanta Forest

Posted on 2021/08/25 by darknights

Responding to the call from comrades in Atlanta for an 8/18 day of action in solidarity with the struggle to defend the Atlanta forest; vandals broke into the office complex housing Corporation Service Company’s (CSC) regional office in Roseville, a suburb of Minneapolis. After smashing the office door and throwing cans of paint inside, a message was left sprayed across the front: HANDS OFF THE ATLANTA FOREST.

Demands are being made for CSC to drop their client, Blackhall Studios. Blackhall Studios would like to level the South Atlanta Forest to build the country’s largest soundstage and an airport, creating unprecedented levels of gentrification in the city.

Atlanta police plan to level 300 acres and create a sprawling tactical training compound featuring a mock city, with which they’ll develop the ability of police departments around the country to brutalize those practicing resistance.

Rebels in Minneapolis know what it means to inhabit a rapidly gentrifying city, and know what it means to have cutting edge police repression deployed against us. We also know what it means to fight back. Atlanta, we love you.

In solidarity,

Minneapolis
