Atlanta Forest, U$A: Protester Killed, Trooper Injured in Shooting Near the Defend the Atlanta Forest Encampment

Posted on 2023/01/19 by darknights

A protester was shot dead Wednesday morning and a Georgia state trooper was shot near Atlanta’s Stop Cop City encampment.

From ‘Defend the Atlanta Forest: “Police killed a forest defender today, someone who loved the forest, someone who fought to protect the earth & its inhabitants. This is why we organize to stop Cop City. And we will. In honor of their life, and the lives of everyone killed and imprisoned by the police.”

Defend the Forest & Stop Cop City is a grassroots movement of many groups and individuals from Atlanta and beyond, working together and separately to prevent the South River Forest from becoming either a police training compound or a new Hollywood soundstage complex.

Atlanta Police Foundation is trying to build the largest police training facility in the US in Weelaunee or South River Forest, a watershed. The plans include military-grade training facilities, a mock city to practice urban warfare, dozens of shooting ranges, and a Black Hawk helicopter landing pad.

On the heels of the historic 2020 uprising following the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department, the current movement inherits all of the wisdom and ingenuity of those unforgettable days. After millions marched, demonstrated, and took action against police brutality, the Atlanta government and countless others found creative ways to give local law enforcement even more resources and funds, under the cover of “reform” and “trainings.”

The South River Forest, one of Atlanta’s largest remaining green spaces. The forest encompasses a three-hundred-acre, city-owned tract of land that sits in a poor and predominantly Black part of unincorporated DeKalb County. Underground are the much older remains of the Muscogee Creek people, who lived in what they called the Weelaunee Forest until they were forcibly removed by white settlers in the eighteen-twenties and thirties.

The plans for Cop City have been met with exuberant from forest defenders and the broader community.

At the end of July, someone set fire to a truck that had hauled construction equipment to a trailside parking lot. On its charred remains were scrawled the words “No Cop City” and “No Hollywood Distopia.”

Board of Trustees of the Atlanta Police Foundation include members from: Waffle House, Home Depot, AT&T, UPS, Delta Airlines, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch, Chick-fil-A, Equifax, and SunTrust Bank. A CALL FOR RETALIATION

The worst has come to pass.
An unnamed forest defender has been shot and killed in Weelaunee.
Consider this a call for reciprocal violence to be done to the police and their allies. On Friday, January 20th, wherever you are, you are invited to participate in a night of rage in order to honor the memory of our fallen comrade.

Love and rage

International call to action in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito and the end of the 41bis regime (January 22-28) EN/ES/GR/IT/PT

Posted on 2023/01/14 - 2023/01/24 by darknights

We extend the call for an international campaign in solidarity with comrade Alfredo Cospito during the week of January 22-28. More than 80 days after the beginning of his hunger strike against the 41 bis regime, it is urgent for us to deepen and multiply the gestures of internationalist solidarity and to deploy all our forces against all expressions of domination. We hope that this initiative can be translated and disseminated to all anti-authoritarian comrades throughout the world. We also hope that this campaign will go beyond the walls that isolate comrade Alfredo and that he will feel all our solidarity and complicity in war. LET’S NOT LEAVE ALFREDO ALONE!

END TO THE REGIME 41 BIS!
FREEDOM TO ALFREDO COSPITO!
LONG LIVE THE BLACK INTERNATIONAL!
DEATH TO THE STATE & LONG LIVE ANARCHY!

Call for a weekend of solidarity with the Atlanta Forest to #StopCopCity. January 13-16th.

6 people are charged with domestic terrorism for tree-sitting, as police kill more people in 2022 than any year before, & the climate crisis rages.

We can all take action for our future.

Call from Germany for a November 30 of actions in solidarity with the anarchist Alfredo Cospito, in view of the re-examination hearing on December 1 for the 41bis measure

Posted on 2022/11/25 by darknights

Call from Germany for a November 30 of actions in solidarity with the anarchist Alfredo Cospito, in view of the re-examination hearing on December 1 for the 41bis measure

Since 20 October, the anarchist Alfredo Cospito has been on hunger strike against his detention in total isolation and torture and against imprisonment without parole. Other detained comrades (Anna Beniamino, Ivan Alocco, Juan Sorrocho and Toby Shone) as a sign of solidarity and to give strength to Alfredo’s struggle, have also started a hunger strike.
Alfredo has been in prison uninterruptedly for ten years, spent in High Security sections until his transfer to 41 bis. The 41 bis is a prison regime of annihilation, as it is designed to cause physical and mental damage through the technique of sensory deprivation; it is a political and social death sentence, aimed at cutting off all contact with the outside world.
Our comrade was transferred to these torture chambers because, despite his imprisonment, he never stopped contributing to the international anarchist debate with articles, editorial projects and proposals.
The re-examination of the 41 bis measure against Alfredo is set for 1 December. This hearing will be very important because it will have to pronounce on the legitimacy of the previous Justice Minister Marta Cartabia’s decision to apply the 41 bis prison regime against our comrade.
Alfredo was convicted, along with Anna Beniamino and other anarchists, in the mega trial Scripta Manent, a trial aimed at criminalising anarchist ideas and hostile practices against all forms of authority and domination. Specifically, Alfredo and Anna were accused of being responsible for the double explosive attack against the Scuola Allievi Carabinieri in Fossano, on 2 June 2006, claimed by Rivolta Anonima and Tremenda / Federazione Anarchica Informale. For this attack, on 6 July, the Court of Cassation reformulated the sentence to ‚political massacre‘. Life imprisonment is the only penalty the Italian penal code provides for political massacre. After reclassifying the crime, the Cassation sent the case back to the Court of Appeal to redetermine the convictions. The hearing that will decide the extent of these sentences is set for 5 December in Turin.
The Italian state, which has always protected the fascist strategy of mass murder, now wants to convict two anarchists of massacre for an explosive attack that caused neither victims nor injuries.
This affair breaks into the increasingly dark repressive climate with which we all have to deal: that is why the struggle of Alfredo, Juan, Ivan, Anna and Toby is close to the heart of those who do not want to resign themselves to a world that is more and more an open-air jail.

We call for 30 November (the day before the re-examination of the 41 bis measure against Alfredo), a day of action in solidarity with Alfredo and the other comrades on hunger strike.
Let us make them feel our solidarity that breaks the isolation beyond all borders and all cages. Let us break the deafening silence in which they want to bury our comrade alive. Let us give voice to our comrades‘ struggle with our actions.
Let us make the symbols of oppression and exploitation the targets of our actions. Targets are everywhere. Every action is necessary: whether it is spreading the ideas of anarchist hunger strikes or sabotaging and disrupting the normal functioning of the state and capital. Target the Italian, German or any other state and the symbols of domination to abolish the prison system!
Let us show that solidarity is a dangerous weapon…

Chile: CALL FROM THE PRISONS OF THE CHILEAN STATE. Communiqué of anarchist and subversive prisoners

Posted on 2022/05/14 - 2022/05/14 by darknights

Joining wills and consciences for the return to the streets of comrade Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda.

“No one will be able to erase the history of offensive resistance outside and inside Chilean prisons because in this is the commitment of hundreds of comrades and accomplices throughout the world who do not and will not stop until they see the last bastion of the prison society fall.”

-Necessary Clarities on Prison

Politics in today’s chile….

Various related networks.

February 2022.

A year ago, at this time, we were conducting a hunger strike that lasted 50 days demanding the repeal of the amendments to DL 321, the annulment of the sentences of military prosecution and thus the release to the street of our comrade Marcelo Villarroel.

Today we give a new impulse to this struggle, which is fully in force, persisting as a collective priority in the return to the street of Marcelo, in whom are condensed clear and unacceptable legal aberrations that go beyond the very legality of power.

Marcelo was arrested in Argentina in March 2008 where he spent 22 months in prison, then he was expelled to Chile and today he is just over a year and a half away from serving a 14-year sentence for two bank robberies carried out in 2007, the comrade is also being held captive by a series of sentences from the early 90’s issued by the military prosecutors of Pinochet that amount to more than 46 years and with this they intend to bury him in prison perpetuating his sentences in the midst of an unacceptable complicit silence of all the structures that affirm the political, legal, police and penitentiary framework of the Chilean state. Montevideo, Uruguay: Llamado/Incitación para un 1ero de Mayo en las calles ES/EN

Posted on 2022/04/12 - 2022/04/12 by darknights

Athens, Greece: Call for participation in the defense of the Squatted Community of Prosfygika on Alexandras Avenue (EN, TUR, ES, IT, DE, FR)

Posted on 2021/12/20 - 2022/01/30 by darknights

Hello comrades,

We address this call to collectives and individuals from all around the world to join the combative defense of PROSFYGIKA against the imminent repression. The attempted evacuation of our neighborhood must be turned into a central event of resistance and a victory against political power and the gentrification of our neighborhoods in the metropolis.

WHAT WE INVITE YOU TO DEFEND:

The building complex of Prosfygika was built in 1933 for the refugees coming from Asia minor.

In the conditions of the time, a vibrant working class neighbourhood with communal characteristics emerged. Today,it is one of the biggest building complexes in the center of Athens, which is still not gentrified and exploited by big investors or the state. It is a place of strategic significance, since it is located between the two ‘pillars’ of authority – the Supreme Court on one hand and the Police Headquarters on the other.

Within this socio-spatial frame, some militants, who were already living in the neighborhood as squatters, decided to organize. In 2010 they initiated the Community of Squatted Prosfygika, having as its central decision-making political organ the Assembly of Squatted Prosfygika (SY.KA.PRO.). A communal body for everyday life and political struggle. Metz, France – Boris hospitalised: call for action and solidarity

Via & Translated by Act for fredom now!

Our friend and comrade Boris has been in an induced coma in the burns unit of the Grand Est hospital in Metz since the morning of Saturday 7 August 2021 following a fire in his cell. His condition is life-threatening, his respiratory tract being highly damaged by smoke and ash. A  first skin graft operation will be carried out as soon as his state of health allows it.

Right away, a journalist from Lorraine Actu, Antony Speciale, rushed to take up the version of the facts provided by Fadila Doukhi, regional delegate of the Force Ouvrière prison union.

Priority was given to the vultures of the media of course, the prison did not even bother to inform the family until late in the day, long after publication in the news columns. Not surprisingly, the guards were congratulated for their responsiveness to this event, which had been directly produced by a year’s imprisonment.

Today, it is difficult for us to understand what happened. Boris is naturally unable to express himself and, it seems, we will only have access to accounts from the screws and the administration aimed at offloading all responsibility on their part.
