Greece: Financial support of the four comrades in pre-trial detention

The following text is the political view of the Assembly in Solidarity with the four comrades in pre-trial detention Fotis D., Jason R., Lambros V. and Panagiotis V.

On November 14^th, 2021 an unmarked police vehicle rammed into the comrades Fotis D. and Jason R. as they were in motion and then they were taken to the General Police Department of Attica. There, the uniformed garbage of the Greek Police proceeded to mandatory fingerprinting and DNA sampling, in order to link them to the attack on the Piraeus traffic police on the same night. In a process that took only half a day, they raided their homes, making sure to plant incriminating evidence, thus building a weak case against them. At the same time, the media indulged in their usual vile role, talking about homes being bomb and explosives manufacturing facilities, in an attempt to normalise the new criminal code in the public mind (which upgrades the possession and use of Molotov cocktails to a felony). It is worth noting, that the code came into force the day before their arrest. For the millionth time, the fabrication of guilty people by the media, has socially reinforced the prosecution’s argument and created the appropriate ground for the pre-trial detention of our two comrades, who have been held captive for 15 months in the Korydallos and Avlona hellholes.

With the trial date not being set and the case file still open, the interrogator had room to implicate more people. Following a prosecution conducted by the interrogator, on Tuesday morning 20/9, state cops accompanied by a prosecutor, stormed into the house of comrades Panagiotis V. and Lambros V. The comrades were arrested and detained in GADA, where for several hours the reasons for their detention were not known and they were not given the right to communicate with their lawyers or their close ones. The next day, they were tried by the Single-Member Plenary Court in Evelpidon for violation of the weapons law and were later released. Venice, Italy: Appeal ruling in the trial of anarchist Juan Sorroche: comrade sentenced to 14 years and 10 months

Appeal sentence for Juan (Venice, March 28, 2023)

We report that last March 28 our Juanito, sentenced in first instance to 28 years in prison for an action against the League’s headquarters in Villorba (TV) in 2018, had his sentence reduced to 14 years and 10 months by the Venice appeals court. This is still a very high sentence for an action that-beyond the intentions of the anonymous attackers-did not result in any deaths or injuries.

Tired of being silent, tired of seeing systematic violence every day through racism, sexism and waged labor that take place in society, whose essential values are authority and profit. Sick of exploitation we see all political parties as main responsible, as they repress freedom with the state, reformist and repressive apparatus (TV, the mass-media, associations, the army, the civil protection, etc.) The state and capital are the biggest criminals, they even violate their own laws, they steal through taxes, they kill through wars and waged labor, rejections of migrants’ boats in the sea, concentration camps for immigrants in Europe and Africa, they contaminate irreversibly men, animals and the entire planet, all for their profit and power.

Let’s not forget the hypocritical complicity of society made of citizens who pretend not to see the horrors of present and past racism and nationalism. This acceptance is the pillar of totalitarianism and democracy: in the course of time the authority based on indifference, fear, apathy was able to create Gulags and nazi concentration camps, and today the concentration camps in Libya and outside our homes. The appeal hearing held on March 27 at the Trento assize court for a trial involving defendants Nico, Sasha and Poza (the last two currently being held for sentencing in the “Renata” trial), accused of setting fire to the front door of the Rovereto (Trento) courthouse, ended with acquittals for all three defendants. Every once in a while good news. As a reminder, for Operation “Renata,” Poza and Rupert are on semi-release at Spini di Gardolo prison, Sasha is under house arrest with all restrictions, and the others are awaiting execution of their sentences.

Courthouse entrance set on fire (Rovereto, Feb. 5, 2019)

We learn from local media that on the night of February 4-5, one of the courthouse’s entrance gates, the one that allows access for prison police vehicles, was set on fire. A few meters away, on the wall of the old prison, the inscription “All free, fire to the courts” was left.

Rovereto, Italy: Action against an SNAM vehicle in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito on hunger strike to the bitter end

In the week of March 13 we damaged a vehicle of the SNAM company, a multinational corporation dedicated to environmental devastation through the construction of gas pipelines, not far from Rovereto, we punctured its wheels, smashed its windows and headlights. Not far away we left an inscription NO 41 BIS ALFREDO LIBERO. This action is a small gesture of solidarity with anarchist comrade Alfredo Cospito on hunger strike to the bitter end against 41 bis and hostile life imprisonment. Come on comrade you are not alone! against 41 bis and hostile life imprisonment! Death to the state! for Anarchy.

Santiago, Chile: Incendiary outburst at the Instituto Nacional & Universidad de Chile (JGM) for the day of the young combatant

On Tuesday, March 28, around 30 hooded students unfurled a banner and set up barricades and confrontations with Molotov cocktails against the presence of carabineros (COP), on the eve of the “day of the young combatant”. Three of them were arrested, two were taken into custody by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and finally released without precautionary measures.

Lille, France: Claim of the arson of a Groupama car

The other night, between Monday and Tuesday, we were raging against this world of cages, private property, exploitation and destruction of the living. So we set fire to a Groupama car, which was lying around on the rue des frères Vaillant in Lille.

Among other insurance company crap, Groupama has joined as a civil party in the trial of the Bure association of criminals. So this burning car was also against CIGEO and the people who defend it.

We learned in the bourgeois press that the fire had spread to 5 other cars in the street. We would like to remind you that our target was the Groupama car and not this collateral fire on private property.

The Voix du Nord (DN: local media scum) takes advantage of this to ask for the installation of video surveillance cameras in the neighborhood and to feed a security discourse. This must please insurance companies like Groupama, who are also actively participating in the construction of a world governed by control, speculation and individualism.

Russia: Radical Resistance 22.03 -29.03.2023

Amur Region

Although authorities did not officially name the cause of the fire in the military registration and enlistment office in the Amur Region’s Svobodny village on 22 March, there is every reason to believe that it was caused by the actions of Amur guerrillas. The fire was extinguished by two fire engines. In September 2022 an attempt to burn the military registration and enlistment office in the village of Svobodny, at that time only the facade was burnt, now the attempt has been more successful.

Yaroslavl

On 23.03. there was a fire at the Yaroslavl motor plant Avtodizel. The plant manufactures engines for the Topol-M missile systems. It is reported that the electrical substation was the first to catch fire, burning transformer oil over an area of 30 square meters. Seven people were rescued by firemen from the burning building, another 218 people were evacuated by the site administration.
Fires at the plant have happened more than once. We have no information about the cause of this fire, but we hope that the production of military equipment was well damaged.

North Ossetia, Ingushetia

On the night of March 27-28, guerrillas attacked the police checkpoint Volga-14 and the police returned fire. The attack took place on the border of the two republics, but in North Ossetia, at the intersection of Nazran – Kantyshevo and Malgobek – Mayskoe roads. It was the first attack in the region in more than three years.

Alfredo Cospito Documentary: Fino All’ Ultimo Respiro (Until My Last Breath) with English Subtitles

Since 20 October 2022, Alfredo Cospito, a 55-year-old individualist anarchist, imprisoned for years for various actions publicly claimed by himself, has been on hunger strike against the 41-bis detention regime and the life sentence to which he has been subjected for several months now.

His is not only a personal protest, but a political battle against the 41-bis and life imprisonment in general, a battle that he declares he wants to continue with different forms in case these provisions are revoked and which, otherwise, will lead forward to the extreme consequences.

Alfredo Cospito and Anna Beniamino have been charged with participating in and organizing a series of attacks that took place in Italy with rudimentary explosives in the early 2000s, actions that caused minor damage, no deaths or injuries. Their participation in these attacks has never been directly and convincingly proven, nor has it ever been claimed by them.

However, for these facts they were initially sentenced for the crime of “common massacre”, to 15 years in prison, precisely because it was a massacre, but without victims or injured… But the crime was later further reclassified in the Supreme Court as a crime of “massacre against the security of the State”, one of the most serious crimes in the Criminal Code, which provides for the fixed penalty of life imprisonment.

The 41-bis, also known as “hard prison”, a particularly afflictive regime, born to counter the mafias in 1992 and extended in the 2000s to terrorist organizations, is a regime whose constitutionality, and the methods of its application have raised significant doubts for numerous jurists.

Alfredo Cospito is the first and only anarchist to whom such prison measures have been applied in Italy.

The documentary attempts to reconstruct the events which Alfredo Cospito, through the hunger strike, undertook, as an anarchist prisoner, a battle against the Italian State and its disproportionate use of force.

Napoli + Pozzuoli, Italy: Raids on houses of comrades in connection to a 270 bis investigation into attacks in solidarity with revolutionary prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas

On March 28, two houses, one in Napoli and one in Pozzuoli, were raided and four comrades were taken to the police station, in connection with a 270 bis investigation (anti-terrorist association), which was officialized in May 2022 following several house-searches.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, one comrade was placed under preventive arrest, accused of an arson attack against the Greek consulate in 2021. The prosecution contextualizes this attack within the campaign in solidarity with revolutionary Greek prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas, who at the time was on hunger strike.

The comrade has now been taken to the Secondigliano prison and is placed in the AS2 section (high security unit), while the three other comrades were released. According to the case’s files, the timing of the arrest was influenced by the relentless solidarity actions with Alfredo Cospito, an anarchist prisoner currently on hunger strike against the 41 bis regime and life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

This operation is part of a witch hunt that wants to frame anarchists as a public enemy to be eliminated. In the context of the countless actions in solidarity with Alfredo in Italy and abroad, we clearly see this repressive blow as part of the state’s attempt is to stifle every and any spark of rebellion.

When faced with repression, our solidarity will never stop.
