We publish the following communiqué by Nicola De Maria, militant of Brigate Rosse – Colonna Walter Alasia (‘Red Brigades – Walter Alasia Column’) imprisoned since February 1982, currently in the High Security section of the Alessandria prison, on the initiative – extension of the time outside the cell, against the strict provisions of prison regulations – undertaken by him on November 9 in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito, anarchist comrade on hunger strike to the bitter end since October 20 against 41 bis prison regime to which he was transferred in May this year, and with Nadia Lioce, Marco Mezzasalma and Roberto Morandi, militants of Brigate Rosse per la costruzione del Partito Comunista Combattente (‘Red Brigades for the construction of the Combatant Communist Party’) imprisoned in 41 bis for 17 years.
‘Crisis, war, repression against workers, unemployed, students’
In this context, the 41 bis prison regime for revolutionary prisoners has recently been extended; a regime that aims at the annihilation of their identity and psycho-physical integrity.
On November 9, 2022, I extended the time outside the cell in:
– solidarity with Alfredo Cospito, anarchist prisoner on hunger strike to the bitter end in the Bancali-Sassari prison against 41 bis;
– solidarity with the Brigate Rosse–PCC prisoners, Nadia Lioce, Marco Mezzasalma, Roberto Morandi, who have been resisting the 41 bis regime for more than 17 years.

For Alfredo Cospito
Text of Solidarity by the Members of Revolutionary Struggle
Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis
The physical and moral extermination of revolutionary fighters and political prisoners, or the coercion of them into political renunciation and repentance, has been the goal of the State and capital throughout time. In order to achieve this aim, States have created special conditions of detention and isolation for those who took up arms against the regime, for those they call “terrorists”.
One example of special detention today is the Italian model under Article 41 bis.
Under Italian law, the Minister of “Justice” is given the right to lift the rules of treatment of some prisoners and order their transfer to special conditions of detention. The special conditions based on Article 41 bis impose complete social and sensory isolation, limiting contacts with other prisoners, limiting visits to one (1) per month with relatives, not by physical contact but through a glass partition, limiting, prohibiting, correspondence and the possession of books, shrinking prisoners’ exercise period to one (1) hour per day and increasing the time of confinement inside the cell.
These conditions are a form of torture aimed at crushing militant prisoners and in general those under this regime. Continue reading “Greece: Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis: For Alfredo Cospito. Text of Solidarity by the Members of Revolutionary Struggle”

On the margin of the planned gatherings held outside the prisons in Terni and Spoleto, some of the comrades took part in a demonstration through the streets of Spoleto.
Given the massive deployment of forces present in the acropolis of the old city centre, to protect the happy continuation of the holiday for tourists, the demonstration moved through the streets of the lower part of the old city chanting slogans against 41 bis, repression, war, in support of revolutionary action, in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito on hunger strike, the anarchists Juan Sorroche and Ivan Alocco who joined in his battle, and the communist prisoners in 41 bis, distributing various leaflets. The demonstration first surprised the repressive forces, who took half an hour to deploy the anti-riot police, who, after another half an hour or so, forced the break-up.
The comrades remained compact and firm on their positions, despite a few attempts at intimidation and a lot of paternalism. We stayed together for a while longer to protect each other and in the end the cops left in dribs and drabs.

Freedom for everyone!

On the night of November 6, we sabotaged high-speed rail and other train lines in several places in the city. Writings against 41 bis were left at the site. The goal of this action was to give visibility to the struggle of Alfredo and the other prisoners on hunger strike.
The action, despite being successful (we verified that there were heavy delays to circulation the following day) was silenced by the media.
We recognize the state and its institutions responsible for Alfredo’s condition and health, and these attempts to invisibilize his struggle will not stop us: we will continue to stand by Alfredo because his struggle is our struggle.
NOT A STEP BACKWARD!
GET ALFREDO OUT OF 41BIS!
CLOSE THE 41BIS!
WITH JUAN, IVAN, ANNA AND ALL ANARCHIST PRISONERS!
LONG LIVE DIRECT ACTION!
LONG LIVE ANARCHY!

On the night of November 12, on a street in Rome, we smashed the windows and ATMs of Unicredit, Benetton and Banca Popolare di Milano and threw firecrackers at RAI in solidarity with anarchist comrades on hunger strike. To Alfredo, Anna, Juan and Ivan goes our boundless solidarity.
A conspiratorial salutation to the Mapuche people in struggle.
Against 41 bis, against life imprisonment without parole and against any jail.
For anarchy.

November 13th, we spontaneously demonstrated in solidarity with Alfredo by slowing down and blocking traffic in Eberswalderstrasse and Rosethaler Platz (Berlin).

Hunger strike of anarchist GIannis Michailidis as a sign of solidarity with the 11 fighters and hunger strikers from Turkey
On 7th of October, the 11 fighters from Turkey Ali Ercan Gökoğlu, Burak Agarmış, Hasan Kaya, Sinan Çam, Şadi Naci Özpolat, Halil Demir, Anıl Sayar, Harika Kızılkaya, Hazal Seçer, Sinan Oktay Özen and İsmail Zat started an indefinite hunger strike with the main demand of a fair trial.
From today, Saturday 12 November and for one week I am starting a hunger strike in support of their difficult struggle. Their trial starts this Wednesday 16 November in the courtroom of Korydallos prison.
I also want to send a signal of solidarity to the anarchist comrade Alfredo Cospito who has been on hunger strike since 20 October against the torture regime of article 41-bis, but also to the anarchist Anna Beniamino and the anarchists Juan Sorroche Fernandez and Ivan Alocco who are on hunger strike alongside him.

In the early hours of 31 October, we set fire to a van belonging to the GA-Tec company. This company for building and facilities management technology is 100% owned by the Sodexo group and runs prisons itself (in England and Chile) and is a big profiteer of the prison industry. The van burnt out in the Lichtenberg district, where a number of cars have been burnt recently.
Not only to cause damage to the company, but out of an inner motivation we could not help but make such an attack against our oppressors. The news that the comrade Alfredo Cospito is being tortured in the so-called “41bis” regime of justice by the Italian state leaves us anything but indifferent. Alfredo is not only to be muzzled, his existence is on the verge of extinction. We unite with his militant push. Together with his hunger strike, we break the total isolation. We also call on all other comrades to take direct action now and decisively shorten the reaction time of the anarchist international struggle. To snatch Alfredo Cospito from the regime of extermination and unleash a revolutionary force in the coordinated offensive. Not to live in prison or in the isolation regime means a great responsibility. In the struggle combined with hunger strikes, we cannot wait until the prisoner also has to go on thirst strike.
Militant campaigns triggered by hunger strikes can open up a substantial anti-capitalist perspective. Metropolises can be transformed into jungles where the infrastructure of the ruling classes could be completely destroyed if its inhabitants decided to do so. Prison profiteers, arms companies, police contractors, construction corporations – their glass facades, vehicles and data lines that are encroaching on the habitats of our class in increasingly dense urban centers or being used to try and protect themselves in their own sanctuaries. Just like how the GA-Tec/Sodexo van we attacked was engulfed in a high-rise precariat housing estate, it could become commonplace for the logistics of power as the intensifying class antagonisms and the militant campaigns of the anarchist milieu develop a common approach.
Solidarity also to Juan Sorroche and Ivan, who immediately joined Alfredo’s struggle and are also on hunger strike.
Freedom for them and also for Giannis Michailidis, Claudio Lavazza and Toby Shone.
Victory to the Mapuche struggle!
Death to the state, long live anarchy!
