Shutting down the heart of the megamachine – Fire of microchip production

Last night, we set fire to fuse boxes, supply cables and a ventilation system belonging to Micro Resist Technology on the grounds of the Wuhlheide Innovation Park. While Germany is once again unrestrainedly mobilizing for military strength and war capability with a turnaround, special funds and compulsory military service, we are targeting the heart of the technological mega-machine with our sabotage and, with microchip production, are also hitting one of the most sensitive points of civil-military cooperation. This attack is intended as a contribution to the protests against National Veterans Day next Sunday – fire and flame instead of glory and honor for militarism, soldiering and fatherland!

Tiny giants at the intersection of technology and war

The web of capitalist domination is tightening ever tighter around us. Technological progress is the engine that drives the destructive mega-machine and allows it to penetrate ever further into the most intimate areas of our existence. Inanimate objects made of plastic and metal, which, equipped with sensors, microphones, lenses, microchips etc., are increasingly becoming prostheses for social interaction, replacing genuine, empathetic relationships and causing our cognitive abilities to atrophy. At the same time, we are being tracked at every turn by social media, voice assistants, artificial intelligence, “smart” devices, facial recognition and many other surveillance tools, whereby everything we do is being increasingly incorporated into the capitalist value chain. Big data becomes big money. The implementation of such technologies in our everyday lives shapes our existence and the algorithmic calculations derived from them increasingly decide and determine our future. Once we have become accustomed to them, these mechanisms have such an all-encompassing effect that it is almost inconceivable for most people today to escape their digital grasp. For many, even the thought of it triggers anxiety. What remains is an army of slaves to the machine, dependent, controlled, externally determined and not even aware of this relationship.

However, this is only one side of the technological attack. Technology can and should not only manipulate our thoughts and actions, it should also kill. Almost all relevant technologies can be traced back to military research and development in order to gain advantages on the battlefield. Not only against hostile nations, but also in the social war against the exploited, superfluous and precarious of the population. From nuclear power to the internet, from cybernetics to artificial intelligence – our everyday lives are permeated by things that have a military logic at their core. In extreme cases, this can mean that apps that playfully accompany us through the day today feed and train the same machines on the basis of which an AI-controlled drone will determine and destroy its target tomorrow. A practice that is sometimes used by the Israeli military in particular through AI programs such as “Lavender” in their unleashed campaign of destruction against the Palestinian population of Gaza and with the friendly support of their Western accomplices. What seems like an episode from a dystopian science fiction movie is the gruesome reality of technological “achievements”, which are summarized under the term “dual-use” and are inherent in most technologies. Companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Siemens, Telekom and Tesla are just some of the best-known players operating at the interface between civil and military applications. Companies that produce highly specialized key technologies such as microchips/semiconductors, without which none of the modern technical devices would work, are far less well known. The future dystopia of a fully controlled life by smart cities, 5G, where your fridge communicates with your mobile phone or a street lamp, and supermarkets offer you everything you ask for in the (anti)social media is already here. Everything is increasingly connected and everything is being monitored. It’s a future where people will be controlled by the artificial intelligence of big capital – big data and machine learning. Whatever information capital collects is shared with the state. Technology means repression, blackmail and total social control.

At the same time, the ecological war for plutocratic resources called green energy is nothing but a new form of slavery on other continents, allowing Western capitalism to be as independent as possible from Russian gas or oil-producing countries. All this is another new great stage of capitalism – green capitalism. It is the exploitation of the climate crisis and biological extinction by capital and the state.

When the New Democracy government came to power, it began an unprecedented upgrade of the repressive apparatus in numbers and technical equipment. The cops are used as a solution to every “problem”: the pandemic, the universities, demonstrations and protests of all types, the gentrification of Athens. The cops are the number one remedy for everything.

All of the above are condensed in the memorandum of understanding between the government of the New Democracy and Volkswagen with the aim of turning Astypalaia into the first smart island, a laboratory that leads the inhabitants to become guinea pigs of the dystopian future. The contract began in September 2021, and aims to gradually replace the island’s conventional vehicles with electric ones. The project is being portrayed by the mainstream media as a technological leap that will benefit the environment and residents. In reality, of course, the memorandum of understanding is nothing more than another way of increasing profitability and repression at the expense of the natural environment and the inhabitants. VW will be able to test autonomous vehicles on the island on terms outside the strict EU legislation, gaining the upper hand against competition. At the same time there is talk of installing hundreds of wind turbines on the island, turning it into a hub for electricity generation and completely destroying the natural environment. Finally, one of the first moves of the project was the donation of electric vehicles from VW to the murderous assault battalions of the cops and the coast guard.

The cooperation between the bloodthirsty New Democracy government and VW is not unprecedented. VW has a long history of supporting fascist and oppressive regimes. From Nazi Germany in the 1930s, to the military dictatorships in Brazil and Argentina, to Franco’s Spain, VW has always been and continues to be at the forefront of capital profiting on top of harsh oppression.

For all these reasons, at dawn on May 10, we visited the VW dealership on Alexandras Avenue. Our intervention resulted in the destruction of several new electric vehicles and the destruction of the front of the dealership, without endangering passers-by or residents of the area. We consider it an integral part of anarchy to recognize those who profit on oppression, misery and exploitation and it is our duty to return the violence they cause.

We dedicate our action to the prisoners of the social war, Fotis, Iasona, Panos and Lambros, who are being prosecuted for the attack on the Piraeus traffic police.

Solidarity with our wounded comrades Boris and Serge from the militant ecological defence on the territories of the French state.

Solidarity to Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar whose trial against them starts in a few days.

The Guide to Peer-to-Peer, Encryption, and Tor: New Communication Infrastructure for Anarchists

Secure encryption chat apps are essential infrastructure for anarchists, so they should be closely scrutinized. Signal is the dominant secure encryption tool used by anarchists today. Conspiracy theories notwithstanding, the fundamental architecture and development goals of Signal have potential security implications for anarchists. Signal is a centralized communication service, and centralization results in potential security implications, especially when contextualized within the current threat landscape. Alternative secure chat apps like Briar and Cwtch are Peer-to-peer communication tools that, in addition to being Encrypted like Signal, route all traffic through Tor (PET). This approach to secure communication offers great advantages for security, anonymity and privacy over more common services like Signal, but with caveats. However, anarchists should seriously consider trying and using Briar and/or Cwtch, in the interest of developing more resilient and more secure communication infrastructure.

Despite all that, the best way to communicate anything securely is still face-to-face.

This is a discussion about digital tools for communicating securely and privately. To begin, it must be stressed that a face-to-face meeting, out of sight of cameras and out of earshot from other people and devices, is the most secure way to communicate. Anarchists were going for walks to chat long before encrypted texting existed, and they should still do so now, whenever possible.

That being said, it’s undeniable that secure digital communication tools are now part of our anarchist infrastructure. Perhaps many of us rely on them more than we should, but there is an extent to which they have become unavoidable for coordinating, collaborating, and staying connected. Given that these tools are essential infrastructure for us, it’s crucial that we constantly scrutinize and re-evaluate their security and effectiveness at protecting our communications from our adversaries.

In the last decade or two, anarchists have been early adopters of these secure communication tools and techniques, and have played a role in normalizing and spreading their use within our own communities, as well as among others engaged in resistance and struggle. The following text is intended to present anarchists with newer tools for secure encrypted communication, and make the case that we should adopt them in order to bolster the resilience and autonomy of our infrastructure. We can learn the advantages of these new apps – how they can help dodge surveillance and repression – and subsequently employ them effectively in our movements and help spread their use more broadly. The Social Credit System – The New Totalitarian Management in a Technological Key and Social Credit Experimentation has begun in Italy

From 2013 Rongcheng, Chinese city in the province of Shandong, started experimenting with the ‘social credit’ system, but the aim is to extend it throughout the country by 2023.

In Rongcheng, each citizen is assigned 1,000 initial points, and each score corresponds to a specific letter: AAA to D. The letter ‘A’ (equivalent to 1,000 points) is the basic score and entails access to certain benefits, such as preferential assistance in employment and priority in school enrolment. One can aim to increase one’s score through behaviour considered by the Chinese Communist Party as ‘virtuous’: paying taxes and bills on time, making certain purchases, sharing and spreading party ideas, etc. a long list of behaviours by which the ‘trustworthiness’ and ‘virtuousness’ of citizens is judged. Of course, reporting people whose attitudes are deemed to be improper leads to an increase in one’s score. The benefits for the highest level (AAA, accessible to those with more than 1,050 points) include: higher pension insurance, subsidies for public transport, the possibility of applying for interest-free loans, being able to rent vehicles without having to leave a deposit, requiring fewer documents for travel visas, etc.

One’s score also becomes a symbol of prestige to be displayed online, as it already is on the Baihe website, which already allows its users to publish their score. On the other hand, those who are in a difficult situation and therefore pay their bills, rent or taxes late will inevitably have their points deducted; the same goes for those who do not cross at a pedestrian crossing, who throw paper on the ground, who express political opinions not in line with the party, etc. The list of behaviour deemed ‘immoral’ is very long. Italy: The 5G network and the so-called ‘Smart Planet’

THE 5G NETWORK AND THE SO-CALLED ‘SMART PLANET’

Italy, like the rest of the world, is pressing ahead with the implementation of the 5G network, but how many really know what it is? First of all, the name: 5G is not related to the frequency of the waves used, but indicates that it is a fifth-generation network, whose waves have A power and frequency several times higher than those used so far. Like most technologies it also originated in the military sphere, in fact the type of waves that will be used by this network, namely microwaves and millimetre waves, are used both for localisation (radar), and as a real weapon of war (Active Denial System).

With the 5G network we will be irradiated twenty-four hours a day by an infinity of these waves, which, due to their technical characteristic, will require the installation of millions of new antennas, at a maximum distance of one hundred metres from each other, depending on the location. One only has to look around to see the continuous installation of new repeaters, or the continuous installation of new antennas on existing ones. What few people know is that there will be many ‘mini-antennas’, camouflaged both in street furniture (lampposts, manhole covers, bus stops, etc.) and in everyday objects, not to mention the thousands of satellites that have been launched, and will continue to be launched, into space, to connect even the most remote places on earth. What is known to date about the network already in use is that it causes serious and irreversible damage genetically, biologically and to the reproductive system, which makes it clear that its enhancement (by means of the installations we have just discussed) will cause even greater damage to all living things, further aggravating a situation which already today appears dramatic.

Italy: Social Credit Score – Rome & Bologna testing new app that monitors & rewards behavior

In line with recommendations being laid out by the World Economic Forum and the UN 2030 Agenda, Bologna, Italy, plans to launch a social credit style app that has striking similarities with Communist China’s social credit system. The app rewards or punishes its citizens for their behavior. Dubbed “Smart Citizen Wallet,” the app will track activities such as recycling, public transportation use, and energy management.

The primary argument for the program is to “save resources” and promote climate-friendly behavior. Those displaying good behavior will collect digital coins and receive discounts at local shops based on the given scores.

The app is already active and in experimental stages in Rome and is set to go live in Bologna in Autumn. Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore and Massimo Bugani, director of the city’s “Digital Agenda,” discussed the project at a March 29 conference. Bugani indicated the app was part of a more comprehensive effort by the city to invest in digital innovation.

In 2020, Italy and six other nations signed an agreement to become “Agile Nations” in partnership with the WEF. Besides Italy, the deal—co-organized by the OECD—includes Canada, Denmark, Japan, Singapore, UAE, and the UK and sets “each country’s commitment to creating a regulatory environment in which new ideas can thrive.” Expressly—with the Fourth Industrial Revolution front and center.
