Thessaloniki, Greece: Incendiary attack on the office of Leventis lawyer Th. Alexopoulos by Direct Action Cells – Anarchist Action Organization

On New Year’s Eve, in a suite of the luxurious MET Hotel, an anthropomorphic gang of golden boys, including the businessman in the catering industry Manos Papadopoulos (owner of Achillion) and the owners of Coca-cola in Greece Evagoras and Vassilis Leventis, bind the 24-year-old Georgia Bika and after drugging her, proceed to gang rape her. From the first moment she finds the strength and power to stand on her feet and with determination not to remain silent, denouncing the incident. One of the rapists (Vassilis Leventis) is arrested and released, with him a few hours later posing provocatively on social media holding the newspaper that records his exploits on the cover. Into the scene of decadence enters yet another extra of misery, the defense attorney for one of the rapists. Theophilos Alexopoulos, full of audacity, unfolds his manhood behind his professional capacity, finding Georgia Bika in the police station and verbally attacking her in order to intimidate her and prevent her from taking legal action.

This ease with which some scoundrels move, overwhelmed by the feeling of impunity that stems simultaneously from the privileges of patriarchy and the security they enjoy through the social and class status they enjoy, has always been a characteristic that has armed our thinking, our will but above all our conscious duty of revenge. We take responsibility for the incendiary attack with a low-powered device on the law office of pimp and rapist supporter Theophilos Alexopoulos at 74 Egnatia Street in Thessaloniki on the morning of 31 January.

The events through the perseverance and determination of Georgia, which stood alone against the wall of the Patriarchy, occupy the public sphere where the existence of a whole pimping ring that drugs and promotes young girls for the tastes and manliness of the economic elite is methodically revealed. A circuit that has the backing of the uniformed rapists and the bourgeois justice system to wash their faces based on their economic and social status and the political-economic interests they represent in both the legal economy and the black underground economy through the drug, arms, protection and trafficking mafias. Thessaloniki, Greece: Responsibility claim for incendiary attacks against nationalists

In recent times we have seen the increasing effort of various nationalist groups to establish their presence in the western districts of Thessaloniki. Various groups of fascists are trying to forcibly steer occupations that have taken place in recent months in various schools towards a clearly nationalist course. Occupations by schoolchildren who raise as their main issues the educational devaluation, the privatisation of education, the total lack of protection and prevention measures with regard to the spread of mockery, the shabby structural facilities and more. Issues, which we understand touch on the class priority of the state in terms of learning as most of these schools are EPALs (Evosmos, Stavroupoli), without making any distinctions as to which nationality students can or rather cannot claim their right to free learning. Something which, it seems, cannot be accepted by the advocates of nationalist rhetoric whose priority is to have schools composed entirely of Greek students, thus disregarding the devaluation and impoverishment that people of our class are subjected to by the state even at such a young age.

Of course, the direction of these people’s priorities does not surprise us at all. Fascist groups have always been, whether they are organisations such as Golden Dawn or more disorganised paraphernalia such as in recent events the Eneth, selling an anti-government and sometimes anti-populist fairy tale in order to convince the masses that they will make a difference, that they will bring about change. What change can we talk about when the interests of these groups go hand in hand with the interests of the state and the bosses. What solution have they given or even proposed for unemployment, flexible working hours, starvation wages and pensions, precariousness and poverty in general? What change can we talk about when, over time, where the state is unable to intervene, fascism takes action with its long arm. With countless attacks in recent years, always on the weakest or different, with knives, guns, sticks and fists on immigrants and even children, with violence against schoolchildren who reacted to the nationalist occupations, with Molotov cocktails on the balconies of foreign families, with attacks on movement structures, thus taking the role that the state does not want to take the responsibility to take. What change can we talk about when these attacks are accompanied by the complete tolerance of the police.

One of these groups that have been active in Thessaloniki in recent years is the Holy Company, an organisation with a deeply Christian and nationalist analysis in its discourse. The Holy Company was at the forefront of the riots in Oraiokastro in 2016 when refugee children wanted to go to the local school. In 2017 it spearheaded blockades and riots protesting the ”anti-Christian” performance ”The Devil’s Hour”. He was found at the nationalist rallies for Macedonia that resulted in the burning of the Libertatia squat and the attack on EKX School on 21/01/18. Created Macedonian Pride a nationalist fiesta in a desperate attempt to keep the Macedonian issue alive in an anniversary format. Organized the marches for the death of the fascist Katsifa, as well as participated in nationalist protests first against lockdown and then against vaccines. Finally, it tried to capitalize on the events by calling for a nationalist march in the neighborhood. Based on these highlights of the holy company’s activities, we can easily understand that this group over time tries to follow the news in order to gather and organize as many people as possible. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for attacks in solidarity with comrade Haris Mantzouridis

Comrade Haris Mantzouridis has been a prisoner of the state and its mechanisms for 4 months. On 13 October, uniformed masked men of the police kidnapped him from his house in front of his family and took him to the GADA (police HQ). There he is accused of involvement in a robbery of a safe deposit box in Zografou in 2018 with the only evidence being an “orphan” DNA sample found in adjacent premises after the suggestion that an “anonymous citizen” seems to have made to the cops.

The use of DNA as evidence of guilt while scientifically perverse and false is used extensively by the state and its repressive mechanisms to hostage and trap militants. At the same time, the existence of an “anonymous phone call” clearly shows the orchestrated effort of the state mechanism to trap the comrade.

The state crime and the vindictiveness towards Haris because of his long-time participation in the anarchist space continues and goes beyond any limit as while he has applied for release due to his serious mental health, the prison prosecutor prosecutes him for false self-harm with the purpose of attempting to escape, which sends him to the disciplinary court. At the moment, the comrade is being held in the psychiatric hospital of Korydallos prison with conditions there further discrediting his charged mental health. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for arson attack on Hertz dealership in solidarity with Haris Mantzouridis & Steki Biologico

“The tradition of the oppressed teaches us that the ‘state of emergency’ we are now living in is not the exception but the rule. We must manage to grasp history with this awareness.” – Walter Benjamin.

The Greek state is in the process of strengthening and intensifying its repressive mechanisms and under the umbrella of the doctrine of “law and order” is further arming its defences. It creates and nurtures daily bipolar and tactics of social division (vaccinated-unvaccinated) and at the same time focuses on the narrative of the enemy within, with the anarchist space and its militants at the forefront. It applies a doctrine of shock, with the regime’s peak being terrorism, this time through the virus, the external threat from neighbouring countries, the projection of “violent” incidents in university campuses and the simultaneous silencing of the revaluations, impoverishment and poverty of the largest population of the country, the resisting parts of society becoming the recipients of the state’s vengeance. The aim of the current government of the New Democracy is to consolidate impoverishment by completing the work of the social democracy it succeeded. At the same time, faithful to its historical rendezvous with revisionism, the Greek right aspires to put a tombstone on the struggle against impoverishment by intensifying repression against the resisting parts of society and trying to delegitimise the memory of the struggle against the state and capital.

For more than 3 months now, the latest episode of this attack has been unfolding, the prosecution against comrade Haris Mantzouridis, who currently remains in custody in the psychiatric hospital of Korydallos prison. The case is based on a trumped-up indictment, which, in addition to the classic tactic of the “anonymous phone call” that pointed him out as a suspect, is reinforced with the last tool the repression has at its disposal, the “genetic material mix”, accusing the comrade of robbing a money transport company in 2018 and setting fire to a car dealership in 2009. After being kidnapped outside his home by security guards in October, the comrade was initially taken to Korydallos. There he had a first panic attack, which resulted in a head injury and his transfer to the psychiatric hospital in Dafni. During his hospitalization in Dafni he made two suicide attempts, for which the prosecution authorities vindictively and sadistically charged him with disciplinary misconduct, accusing him of “false self-harm with the purpose of escape”. Their goal is obvious: The physical and psychological annihilation of the comrade. At the same time, the attack on Haris Mantzourides sends a message to the wider antagonistic movement. The concerted persecution is part of a broader context of intensifying the use of genetic material for the construction of persecution against the anarchist space. The state has the ultimate goal of spreading fear in the ranks of the militants, showing that at any moment it can collect a sample (in cases even for petty charges) and through a mixture of matching, fabricate indictments, detain and torture physically and psychologically the people of the struggle. Athens, Greece: A few words about the intervention to Professor A. Drakos

The age we live in finds us trapped in a spectacular, imposing but at the same time fragile normality, the normality of the “aristocrats” and their slaves. Sitting behind their seats, with wide smiles and over-inflated bank accounts, the ‘excellent’ are the dream of every petty bourgeois. However much they may communicate this image, the pervasive rot and stench that pervades them is everywhere, infesting the space where they stand and breathe.

This image is usually accompanied by a high social status and perhaps a high-ranking position in the academic, artistic or political world. We do not forget the case of the serial rapist, pedophile and involved in shelters for underage refugee children, D. Lignadis, a ‘renowned’ actor in the eyes of the shaky Greek society, whose political contacts were and are so strong that he was appointed president of the National Theatre. Another shining example of ‘excellence and ethics’ is Nikos Georgiades, MP and political planning secretary of the New Democracy party. In 2016 this scumbag was found involved in a pedophile ring in Moldova. We apologize if the above names made you sick but there is a follow-up and that is the associate professor of financial management at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Anastasios Drakos.

On Tuesday 11/01/22 we coordinated a storming of the auditorium A of the Athens University of Economics and Business during a course taught by A. Drakos. His abusive attack, the writing of slogans on the walls of the auditorium and the physical violence we used were our main means of highlighting an issue that has been buried around powerful acquaintances.

Two anonymous complaints against A. Drakos have been made public, having in common his paedophile habits. More specifically, the first complaint comes from a former partner of A. Drakos-also a professor at the OPA-with whom he coexists in a loan sharking case and it is reported that A. Drakos was caught in the act of having sexual intercourse with underage children in their joint company in Romania in 2016. As for the second complaint, which was made public in 2019-also by two of his university colleagues who are not related to the aforementioned case-it says that in a meeting in a faculty room, A. Drakos disclosed his close friendly relations with the pedophile N. Georgiades, admitted that they share the same pedophilic tendencies and did not hesitate to show off his motives. We, an initiative of anarchists based in Athens, Greece, call upon international solidarity with imprisoned revolutionary anarchist Dimitris Chatzivasileiadis, who is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence for his armed revolutionary struggle in Greece and his involvement in the urban guerilla organization, Revolutionary Self-Defense.

The funds that we raise with this campaign will cover directly the needs of our imprisoned comrade, as well as the expenses for the continuous solidarity actions and events from the initiative on the ground. Leipzig, Germany: Vonovia offices attacked in solidarity with Biologico!

Vonovia has perfected the capitalist exploitation of the basic human need for shelter: apart from outrageously high rents, the company utilizes an endless list of inhumane practices to exploit and terrorize their renters (e.g. systematic fraud in additional costs, general refusal of maintenance, as well as extortion of drastic increases in rent via “modernisations”). Through all of this Vonovia is rapidly advancing gentrification and the housing shortage. Especially in the east of Leipzig this displacement has become increasingly obvious, in hardly any other part of the city the rent is increasing as quickly. Vonovia plays one but not the sole part in profiting massively from this development and in actively advancing it. Our actions are part of the diverse resistance against the so-called ‘valorization’ of neighbourhoods and the displacement of their residents. Militant attacks are one of many means in this fight, they are legitimate and necessary. Direct economic damage drags the ones responsible into the lime light and decreases their profits. But we must not stop there. Let’s work together in many different ways to achieve a city where living together in solidarity is prioritized over the profits of big real estate companies. Let’s create vivd and rebellious neighbourhoods and let’s find ways to connect the various fights against gentrification!

Let’s also not forget about our comrades and friends in other parts of the world. Their struggles are our struggles. The squat “Biologico” in Thessaloniki has been evicted in december of last year. This squat served as a place where social struggles were united with the fights of students and where resistance against valorization and displacement was organized. In their call to action they write: “This one week should serve as another chance for fighters, individuals and groups in Greece, Europe and the whole world to show their solidarity with the squat Biologico which has existed for 34 years and is now at risk of eviction. They should do so with any means necessary and in any way which seems useful. Each eviction has its price. Be prepared, be cautious, solidarity is our weapon.”

We hope seeing the broken windows in Vonovia’s offices brings a smile to the faces of some renters suffering under this company’s harassment.

Exarcheia: THIS IS NOT A MUSEUM, THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE!

As you may have already understood, on the buses, in the streets, in the shops, cameras are watching and recording our every step. The social media industry has made us accustomed to the presence of cameras at events, in marches and in our daily lives (in workplaces, schools, etc.), so that our resistance to them is diminishing. It seems as if there is no other way and this leaves us no room to breathe.

The state is installing cameras to protect its infrastructure, to record demonstrations and to monitor its citizens. On the other hand, the petty bourgeoisie use them to protect their sacred property while their visual material is always available to the cops and is used as incriminating evidence in court cases. Under the pretext that this system of surveillance and control will create greater security, it shields the system of domination.

Cameras have never prevented any “crime”, nor have they ever “protected” anyone. The goal of surveillance is to create a sense of constant monitoring of our every step, every social media post is recorded and creates profiles with data that can be used against us.

Then we start to think twice, where we go, what we say, who we talk to and what we do. This superstitious obedience is part of repression and self-censorship. When we are not anonymous we do not act and speak as we would like, but according to what is socially acceptable.

Athens, Greece: Claudio Lavazza – A whole life dedicated to the struggle

Our anarchist comrade Claudio Lavazza has been in prison since 1996, having already completed 25 years of continuous detention. He is one of the longest serving political prisoners in Europe. Claudio was one of the militants who took up arms to oppose capitalist rule politically and militarily.

An insurgent proletarian who participated in conflicts and expropriations in the early years of joining the movement in the dynamic 1970s in Italy. Armed fighter of the revolutionary movement of the 70’s-80’s afterwards. Member of the Armed Proletarians for Communism, a horizontal guerrilla group with strong ideological influences from workers’ autonomy. Participant in the coalition of groups under the name ‘Organised Communists for Proletarian Liberation’, an armed project to support fugitives and free comrades and comrades-in-arms from prison. Accomplice to the 1981 attack on the prison in Frosinone where imprisoned militants were released.

At a time when the meaning and content of words had not been surrendered to museification, revisionism, and boundary activism. Instead, it found meaning through the practical cultivation of hope in those imprisoned and “exiled” from the legal order by the relentless repression of the state and the parastate. Elefsina, Greece: Intervention Against Animal Poisonings

As a minimal sign of rage against anthropocentric cannibalism and the culture of speicism, the following posters were put up in neighbourhoods of Elefsina, Mandra and Magoula.

Modern civilized societies are structured on the basis of anthropocentrism.

They have ample space for prisons, industries, the construction of huge modern psycho cells and other units for the perpetuation of exploitative relations in order to serve the interests of the householders and the bosses.

Any remaining elements of fauna and flora within it are therefore exterminated for the sake of a development that profits from the corpses of animals, human and non-human.

The current suffocating conditions within urban landscapes are coming to make it clear that any individual who goes against the imposed way of life will be suppressed.
