On Sunday, October 23, on the margin of the planned reading against 41 bis in Piazza delle Gardenie, some of the people who attended decided to take part in a small demonstration in the Centocelle district of Rome. Blocking traffic and trams, slogans, sticking posters and writing on walls to shout that Alfredo’s fight is ours too. Strength comrade!

USA: Update on Joseph Dibee’s situation

Long-time fugitive, Joseph Dibee pleaded guilty this year to helping burn down an Oregon horse meat factory in 1997, but he says the FBI is withholding evidence that could affect his soon-to-be-decided sentence.

Joseph Dibee, a former international fugitive who pleaded guilty to the 1997 arson of a Central Oregon abattoir that sold wild horse meat to Europe, says the U.S. government is withholding information about his extradition. In an affidavit, he indicated a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation lied when the agent said the U.S. government did not videotape the incident.

FBI Special Agent Timothy Suttles stated in his own sworn declaration, filed in federal court on July 14, that he was present in Havana to arrest Dibee but said there “were no videos taken by the United State Government.”

That differs significantly from a declaration Dibee, formerly associated with the Earth and Animal Liberation Fronts, filed in federal court last week stating that a representative with the U.S. government “was videotaping the rendition using a small silver Sony digital camera from the moment” they arrived.

The FBI declined to comment on the court filings, citing the open federal case. A spokesperson for Oregon’s U.S. Attorney’s Office, which is prosecuting Dibee, also declined to comment. Continue reading “USA: Update on Joseph Dibee’s situation” →

41 BIS is torture – Strength and solidarity with the unrepentant anarchist of praxis Alfredo Cospito

Anarchist prisoner Alfredo Cospito has been in Italian prisons since September 2012. He has claimed responsibility for the shooting in the legs of Ansaldo Nucleare CEO Roberto Adinolfi by the Olga Cell of the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI-IRF).

From the very first moment of his detention, the Italian state has exercised all kinds of repressive experiments against the comrade. New prosecutions, new exhausting sentences, disciplinary sanctions, repressive operations against his political comrades. The comrade was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment for the action against Adinolfi, while in prison he was sentenced to an additional 20 years of imprisonment (which is appreciable in total, an equivalent sentence in Greece would be 2 times life) after the prosecutions brought against him within the framework of the repressive operation Scripta Manet. In essence, the comrade was convicted as an instigator for all the actions of the FAI, since he was accused as its founder and leader, in a case that deserves special mention as it is a monument to arbitrary interpretations and vindictiveness.

The Italian state is a hybrid state when it comes to issues of anti-terrorist policy. It is a model state for its brutality and rigour in these matters, having been called upon to manage low-intensity civil war conditions during the period when armed revolutionary movements flourished in the 1960s and 1980s. The Greek state has followed the Italian example on many occasions, one need only recall the similarities between the ‘Marini case’ in Italy and the ‘Conspiracy of Cells of Fire case’ in Greece. Belarus: Anarchists convicted in ‘Pramen case’

On April 22 the verdict was pronounced in the so-called “Pramen case”. Aliaksandr Bialou, Jauhen Rubashka, Artsiom Salavei were sentenced to 5 years in prison, another Artsiom Salavei – to 4.5 years. The gravamen is unknown, since the trial was held in camera.

Aliaksandr and Jauhen were arrested on July 29, 2021 and charged with participation in the 2020 protests. Two activists named Artsiom Salavei (namesakes) were detained a week later. While the investigation was going on, the anarchist media collective Pramen and its website and social networks were recognised as an extremist formation. The guys were accused of promoting extremist activities on behalf of the collective.

In 2020-2021 all of the defendants had already been detained for various protests and arrested for short terms. [Jauhen said he was tortured, with plastic bags over his head and beatings, while in custody; Attaque note.]

Belarus: Blood on your hands – information about anarcho-partisan torture

Today the sister of anarchist Dzmitry Dubovsky published a short story after visiting the activist in the detention center. In particular, the story is about the torture that was used against the guerrillas in the first days after the detention: the punishers cut the skin off Igor Olinevich‘s heels, and Dubovsky himself was strangled with a bag and suspended in a so-called swallow. Previously, it was already reported that Sergej Romanov cut open his veins because of beatings by border guards.

We are well aware that anarchist activists have repeatedly faced beatings by the punitive authorities. But since August 2020, the cops no longer have any brakes at all. This blatant sadism existed in the so-called “law enforcement” agencies even before the protests began. A person does not turn into an animal overnight. Many tortures and beatings before the “political” were tried on ordinary prisoners.

The story of the anarcho-partisans is just a drop of what is now happening in the country. There are thousands of people sitting behind bars who have no voice at all and we have no doubt that they are being beaten and tortured on an ongoing basis. Even after they are sentenced. The Belarusian dictatorship has evolved from an authoritarian regime into a sect of sadists, ready to shed blood not just to keep power, but to enjoy the process itself. If you have any doubts about the people working in the MIA/KGB system, then think of all those who are now fighting in prisons for your and our freedom.

We will never forget every drop of blood spilled in the fight against the regime. For every groan and cry, not only the officers, but every asshole who carried out the sentence will pay. You may have won in 2020, but the war on the dictatorship continues!
