Against Oblivion, Against Despair: A Call for June 11th

Another year passes, and another June 11th is upon us. Once again we’re appreciating all that has unfolded in anarchist struggle over this period, both triumphs and hardships, outside the prison walls, and within. We’re appreciating the beauty in fighting back, and the strength that can be fostered when we refuse to succumb to both oblivion, and despair.

Against oblivion: we refuse to let the state disappear rebels, to erase their sweet or sharp words from our discussions, or to remove or obfuscate their contributions to our shared struggles. Instead, we remember them. Their actions, words, laughter, potential, and humanity. We can act as conduit for each other through prison walls and among generations. They can be kept involved as our struggles shift and change, and we can keep them connected to the outside world, and too the outside connected to them.

Against despair: up against the power of the state, it can feel as if nothing can be done. Despair is a very particular space to inhabit. Despair is not hopelessness, as hopelessness can be a fair assessment of circumstances. One can see and acknowledge hopelessness with a full heart and strong spirit. But despair, despair destroys courage. What is despair, but to value the knowing of suffering without acting against it. We refuse to wallow in the realm of despair, indefinitely. We refuse to let despair destroy our courage.

Instead, we will offer hope to one another. Not a naive or misguided hope that offers false solutions. But instead, an impassioned belief in our capacities as individuals, and capabilities together, to continue on. We can learn from people, like prisoners, who face the full power of the state in isolation and maintain their principles, their humor, their courage, and their resolve. We will act not just based on what’s possible or “strategic,” but on what we know to have value and meaning both out of care and love for each other and in an acting for our own selves, our own aliveness and spirit. Imprisoned comrades are often an incredible example of persevering in the face of hopelessness. Of coming out on the other side of it to the fierce activity of nothing to lose, and nothing worse to be feared.

Chile: Words by comrade Ambro for the anti-prison day held on May 6 in Villa Portales

Posted on 2023/05/24 - 2023/05/24 by darknights

Greetings to all those present, I would like to begin by thanking you for your attendance to the activity, and also to thank all those who made and make this event possible, once again demonstrating their faithful support and loyal commitment.

Support networks and gestures of solidarity are necessary and indispensable in the frontal attack against all that is established and authority.

My arrest occurs in the context of a new commemoration of the day of the young combatant, a new 29th where the night becomes an accomplice of the insurgent youth that armed with courage they confront the enemy face to face, seeking to keep intact the rebellious and combative memory through anonymous action, and it is precisely in this action where the statements, theories and convictions make sense, that is why I believe it is essential to keep alive this black memory and make it a permanent exercise.

It is in this context that every bullet, bomb or attack carries with it the hatred and rage accumulated over centuries of slavery and inequality, which cry out for vengeance.

I knew very well that anyone who rebels against the tyrant, who tries to alter the established order and who decides to take the path of direct confrontation is always very close to imprisonment or death. That is why when I was kidnapped by the sikarios of power, I immediately accepted my destiny and decided to go ahead without hesitation or regrets, in fact the decision was already taken since I assumed an anarchic and irreducible position. When I threw myself into freedom.

However, that does not mean that the reality shock was not hard, life inside the prisons was still something unknown and from the first moment it shows its teeth and claws. Continue reading “Chile: Words by comrade Ambro for the anti-prison day held on May 6 in Villa Portales” →

Accused of sending explosive packages against former Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter and 58th Commissioner, as well as for the explosive attack on the Tanica building, comrades Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar are about to face trial for these actions.

Although the trial was initially scheduled for May 19, 2023, at the request of the defence, it was rescheduled for July 18, 2023.

Complicity with those who attack the power brokers and repressors!

Hamburg, Germany: Tracking technology discovered on motor scooter

Posted on 2023/05/17 by darknights

In the last few days, a so-called “AirTag” from Apple was found in the seat of a scooter. The scooter is used by an anarchist from Hamburg, who has already been the subject of Surveillance and investigative measures in the past. The small, flat device of an approximate diameter of 3 centimeters and a height of less than 1 centimeter, was placed through a slit in the seat cushion, which was apparently made with a cutter knife or similar. The assumption is that an investigative agency or the Verfassungsschutz (german interior secret service) is responsible for the placement. Apple originally marketed the AirTags for the purpose of tagging items such as a bunch of keys, wallet or similar in the immediate vicinity of one’s of one’s smartphone. It works via Bluetooth and has an immediate maximum range of about 100 meters outdoors. It only becomes a tool for tracking the movements of another person via the “Where is? app. When this function is activated, the “lost” AirTag pairs with other iPhones or iPads (with activated Bluetooth function) in the vicinity and passes the location via the “Where is?” network to the Apple device paired with the tracker. Apple device paired with the tracker – and with inflationary use of Apple products and Bluetooth headphones, these small devices then record a potentially fairly complete movement profile, especially in urban areas. The batteries of the AirTags have a lifespan of about one year. According to Apple, the trackers emit a (quiet) beep in “Where is?” mode at regular intervals – which is sufficiently muffled by the upholstery of the scooter seat, for example. It should also be possible, by means of the “Where is?” app in iPhones and the “Airguard” app for Android to identify “lost” AirTags. There are some articles about these possibilities on the IT platform golem.de, which we recommend reading. The serial number of the AirTag theoretically allows to identify the device that was originally paired with it – but it is difficult to get hold of the data over which the Apple group has control. AirTags currently cost around 40 euros each – making them by far the cheapest way for investigators to use such devices for surveillance. A certain failure rate, gaps in the surveillance or a limited usability of the data in criminal proceedings, we estimate that these are insignificant reasons for the authorities not to use the devices. So: check your cars, scooters, bikes and so on. Continue reading “Hamburg, Germany: Tracking technology discovered on motor scooter” →

Greece: Responsibility claim for anti-speciest actions

Posted on 2023/05/17 by darknights

On the occasion of the celebration of the great slaughter, there was an awakening of our reflexes to a ritual that takes place at regular intervals validating the rules of hierarchy of species where animals are inferior and are species to be exploited. By striking at butchers we strike at the institutions and laws that wash away crimes but at the same time we highlight how the everyday person, the trader, the customer, etc. also participates in this timeless holocaust. From this authoritarian mania, people from below do not escape by participating in customs or anti-customs calling themselves anti-authoritarians who contribute to the maintenance of the mass massacre by the domination. Being another proof that the state and power is primarily maintained by those who follow the rules, institutions and laws set by those from above and secondarily by the state and power.

For these reasons we chose as a minimal act of retaliation to strike shops and warehouses of dismembered corpses, conceived as food, because of sadistic anthropocentric culture. We chose to sabotage with simple means such as paint, glue, and leaflets by promoting it to every person who espouses the idea of anti-slavery to act accordingly in the spaces where they move.

Breaking down in practice the structures of control, discipline, and self-monitoring. We propose mass sabotage because anarchy without direct action is incomplete.

Authoritarians of all forms will find us before you.

Hamburg, Germany: You Are The Crisis! DHL Fleet Torched

Posted on 2023/05/17 - 2023/05/17 by darknights

The face of the exploitative system is sometimes only visible in this world by looking behind the numerous corporate logos that flash back and forth before our eyes every day, spitting at us from illuminated billboards or pestering us penetratingly from the Internet.

The companies behind names like Amazon, Tesla, Vattenfall, Deutsche Bahn, Thyssen-Krupp, Telekom, DHL, etc., leave much more visible traces in other areas of the world. Destruction of nature and war have turned this earth into a battlefield and the people and animals who live on it into mentally and physically unwell beings.

The analyses that try to capture what has led to the current misery here since the beginning of the industrial age are neither abstract nor far-fetched. They clearly name the capitalist actors as the culprits and the patriarchal system they adhere to as the root cause. Only complete idiots still believe that reformist policies and green capitalism can be acceptable ways out of the crisis.

For us, it will never be enough to mark our cross at the next election or to consume or do without in one way or another. Another world can only become possible with diverse means. That is why on the night of May 11 we attacked with fire a fleet of trucks of the company DHL. Several vans and box trucks were thus given over to the flames.

With an armada of trucks, vans and a large squadron of airplanes, DHL is an enormous, CO2-emitting polluter that exemplifies the destructive lifestyle of the industrial system. Even the greenwashing campaign that this corporation runs can only fool the most naive. Let’s destroy as much as we can to slow down the destruction of the planet. The Internet of bodies: the body as a technological platform

The Internet of bodies: the body as a technological platform

Introduction

It has not even been ten years since the Internet of Things made headlines and fueled the dreams of technologists around the world. Smart clothes that can measure your mood and update your cell phone, smart glasses with which you can overlay reality with a second layer of your own, e.g., with personalized realities, smart and inexpensive light bulbs charged with carrying the burden of your eco-consciousness by turning on only when you are in the room or when you give the command from the controller of your life aka smartphone, smart coffee makers, ingenious mugs, wi-fi-enabled sinks, and the list goes on. All this new “smart” and illusory life promised by the universal interconnection of everything on the Internet has turned out to be, at least so far, a mere fantasy. But is this proof of the failure of the Internet of Things? In a sense, the answer should be yes (again, at least for now), at least if one is to take such promises at face value. On the other hand, the Internet of Things can be considered as much of a “failure” as any new model of an automobile-based society is a “failure” because its drivers end up spending most of their time moving at the pace of a sloth on Alexandra rather than with feline grace on open roads, vast expanses of open country, or meandering, scenic roads perched on green mountains, as they should, given the commercials. The crucial difference in the case of the Internet of Things, which will provide the measure of any failure or success, is that it was not simply an attempt to promote a product or even a range of products. What was widely promoted or even mandated was not so much and not only the lures of smart devices, but the very idea of universal connectivity, the notion that information can be drawn from anything and that this information can be valued, exploited and enhanced.

There have been many, too many, probably the vast majority of individuals in Western societies, who have seemed all too willing to take the bait of all kinds of smart devices. Finding themselves with the hook of universal interconnectivity stuck in them, perhaps not yet sufficiently aware of the consequences of the position they have found themselves in. The oceans of psycho-intellectual novocaine in which they swim daily (courtesy of social media and subscription lobotomy platforms) do not leave them much room to maneuver. The extent of this retreat of conscience and panicked concession of battlefield positions that would once have been considered non-negotiable has become evident, if nothing else, with the recent issuance of health certificates. The docile readiness with which the subjects display the symbols of their unworthy conformity to a paranoid regime (even for unnecessary movements, such as those related to work or studies) is a low point but not the nadir of political and aesthetic-moral decline; at the other end of the sewer are those who assume the role of controllers, not infrequently enjoying their role, even if they do not openly admit it, perhaps not even to themselves (their tone of voice and body language are, however, irrefutable witnesses). A marvelous social condition that allows microclimates and alveolus to be created everywhere, within which the mushrooms of petty authoritarian attitudes acquire the status of the self-evident: the teacher checks the pupils (a mischievous person might say, “this is not a new role for teachers”), the clerk checks the teacher when he shows up as a customer, the waiter checks the clerk when he goes to buy coffee, etc. Everyone is given the opportunity to assume the role of the examiner; but no one is spared the role of the examined: in other words, the definition of the cannibal condition.

A nontrivial reminder: all these things owe their “success” in large part to the fact that they are mechanically mediated. The smartphones that promised the blossoming of a life in which everything would be available at (or even before) the push of a button seem to have first spread the manure of social barbarism in the form of mutual surveillance. It is obvious that without the ability to instantly scan and identify a certificate, the entire “medical” surveillance regime would be unstable and to such an extent that it might eventually collapse. But who would dare to oppose such practices among those who, for the sake of any free “convenience,” have become spineless data bleeders through their interconnected devices of all kinds? Hamburg, Germany: Neither guilty nor innocent! Solidarity with the anarchists Mónica and Francisco!

Neither guilty nor innocent! Solidarity with the anarchists Mónica and Francisco!

On July 24, 2020, three houses in Santiago de Chile were stormed and the two anarchists Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar were arrested. They have been in custody since then. They are accused of actions against representatives of state repression, including Rodrigo Hinzpeter, Chile’s former interior minister, and a station of the Carabineros de Chile. The two revolutionaries are also accused of other explosive charges. On May 19, the trial of our two comrades-in-arms will begin. We want to inform ourselves about their situation, their history and ideas as well as the trial and give space to our solidarity. There will be a contribution (via video) by fellow activists from Chile, and we will also read texts by the two prisoners. We also want to eat together.
