Ariane Gransac is dead: a life that was intense, rebellious and anarchist

Posted on 2026/05/17 - 2026/05/17 by darknights

Written by Tomás Ibáñez. Via KSL.

Ariane Gransac passed away in Perpignan on Sunday 5 April 2026, at the age of 84: her funeral is to take place at Perpignan crematorium on 15 April.

Rather than succumb to sadness at her leaving, I would prefer to remember her joie de vivre back when I first met her some sixty years ago around 1966, following her brave participation in the unforgettable abduction in Rome of Franco’s ambassador to the Vatican.

Ariane was the daughter of a top manager in the perfume industry and could easily have settled for the privileges offered by financial comfort, but that did not sit well with her rebellious temperament. She quickly began hanging out in anarchist circles in Paris, becoming a member of the French Anarchist Federation’s Emile-Henry Group and, being an amateur painter, she frequented cultural circles with libertarian leanings. Saint Max: The Heretic Marx Couldn’t Silence

Posted on 2026/05/16 by darknights

Translated from Indonesian.

In The German Ideology, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels devoted hundreds of pages to attacking a single man: Max Stirner. They called that section “Sankt Max”—Saint Max, mockingly. They never published it during their lifetime. The manuscript was only discovered and published long after both men were dead.

Some interpret this as evidence that even they themselves felt the section was unfinished—not strong enough to publish. And when it was finally read more widely, many readers did not come away thinking “Marx successfully refuted Stirner,” but rather the opposite: just how much energy had been spent avoiding the questions that actually needed answering.

Except, of course, for Leftists, who desperately defend Marx and Engels without ever having read the work of the ‘Saint’ targeted by their intellectual idols. And if they have read it, I suspect they sweated through trying to decipher The Ego and Its Own in Byington’s English translation from the original German—a translation already notorious for interpretive distortions. It is absurd, obviously, to read and claim to understand a response while failing to understand what that response was actually responding to.

But setting that aside—what really happened there? Continue reading “Saint Max: The Heretic Marx Couldn’t Silence” →

June 11 2026: Solidarity Without End

Posted on 2026/05/16 by darknights

This year as we are marking the International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason and All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners we are thinking about the nature of solidarity as ever-changing and never-ending. Our solidarity is not just for those who are imprisoned, but for all those who are harassed, intimidated, deported, hunted, on the run, tortured, and even killed — not just for individuals but for the struggles they are a part of. Just as repression ebbs and flows and state tactics adapt, transform, and innovate, so must our practice of active solidarity. We must adapt to the changing terrain and needs of our movements.

Solidarity does not end when trial ends and a verdict is reached, when a hunger strike has gotten its demands met, or even when somebody is released from custody back into the arms of their family and friends. The consequences of state repression last long beyond big moments and media attention. Whenever one cycle of struggle winds down as the target of the state, another will take its place. Whenever one comrade is released from prison, another will be taken in. Our support must continue to ripple out beyond our friends and immediate networks. It must extend beyond the borders of states into all lands and territories where people are fighting. It must expand beyond the present moment, honoring comrades of the past and thinking of what legacy we will leave for those who come after us. Update on May Day 2026 Anarchist Prisoner – Tahanan Anarkis M1 2026 (Indonesia)

Posted on 2026/05/16 by darknights

Jangan biarkan RR sendirian!

Update on May Day 2026 Anarchist Prisoner (Indonesia)

Since Wednesday (13/05/2026), police, through local media outlets, have claimed to have arrested 13 individuals accused of involvement in acts of vandalism during the 2026 May Day demonstrations in Bandung. One of the suspects, RR alias “Mpe,” was presented as the “leader of South Bandung Anarchists” and accused of coordinating acts of arson, property destruction, and the financing of the unrest.

Authorities have charged the alleged anarchists under provisions related to public security, including Article 308 on endangering public safety and Article 309 on criminal conspiracy and preparation of offenses threatening people, property, or the environment, under Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP), carrying a maximum sentence of up to nine years in prison.

In addition, police alleged that the anarchists were under the influence of drugs during the demonstrations, presenting this claim as one of the moral justifications for their detention. The announcement has been interpreted as a sign of panic within the security apparatus, given that the unrest during May Day reportedly exceeded official expectations and failed to be anticipated by the authorities.

PS: Once again, the police are constructing a false narrative portraying RR alias “Mpe” as the mastermind or leader behind the action. Since last year’s arrests of anarchists, the Indonesian national Police (Polri) have repeatedly employed the same framing. There are also reports that RR alias “Mpe” is being blamed by the families of other detained participants simply because the others are younger. Do not let RR stand alone!

Text of the 8 arrested comrades/comrades in the May 11 case + Soli-demo call-out (Greece)

Posted on 2026/05/13 - 2026/05/13 by darknights

In the early hours of May 11, 2026, a group of comrades expropriated a bank in Kato Tithorea. Approximately 5 hours later, 5 of them were arrested after a coordinated repressive operation by the police and house invasions. 8 comrades, anarchists, found themselves hostages in the hands of the state.

We have been charged with an inflated indictment that includes bank expropriations and weapons possession. The comrades are being held at the GADA [police HQ in Athens] and some comrades at the Vyronas Prison. Today, 12/05, we went through the prosecutor and were given a deadline to appear before the investigator on Friday, 15/05 at 9am at Evelpidon, building 9.

The 8 comrades for the May 11th case

–

Call for a solidarity rally for the 8 comrades of the expropriated bank in Kato Tithorea.

On the morning of May 11, an armed robbery takes place at a bank branch in Kato Tithorea. After a police operation and pursuit in the surrounding areas, four comrades and one comrade are arrested. Another comrade is arrested in Loutraki and two comrades in Athens. The prosecuting authorities create an inflated indictment that includes robberies, hostage-taking, ATM bombings, vehicle thefts, possession of weapons, etc. The comrades are transferred to the GADA and on 12/5 to Evelpidon where they are given a deadline of Friday 15/5.

From the very beginning, the media has attempted to depoliticize the comrades, giving them a thousand and two characteristics, in an attempt to assassinate their character. The state and the punitive mechanisms triumph over the dismantling of the “gang” that they succeeded in creating. But the answer to all of them is one and they have written it themselves from within the cells of GADA: LONG LIVE ANARCHY!

We call for a solidarity rally on Friday, 5/15 at 9:00 a.m. at the Evelpidon courts. We support the call for a solidarity rally at GADA today at 6:00 p.m.

Open Letter from imprisoned anarchist Komar (Surabaya-Indonesia)

Posted on 2026/05/13 by darknights

My friends and brothers and sisters,
inside and outside these walls,
Peace be upon you.

I’m writing this letter to let you know that, God willing, I’m doing alright. A while ago I came down with a mild fever, but alhamdulillah, I’m still holding on, still under His grace and protection. I hope all of you are safe, healthy, and kept well. Aamiin.

My dear friends,

I’ve lost count of how many letters failed before this one finally made it out. There are barely any writing supplies in here, and when there are, they never last long. Even now, as I write this, I’m still being kept in quarantine. I don’t know for how much longer. Though honestly, I don’t expect anything from being moved to another block. To me, it’s all the same. The only thing I truly want, the only thing I keep hoping for, is FREEDOM. I want to go home. I want to eat my mother’s cooking again. I want to sit with my family. Bandung: 7 comrades arrested during Mayday clashes (Indonesia)

Posted on 2026/05/09 by darknights

Bandung, May 7, 2026 — The 2026 International Workers’ Day (May Day) commemoration in Bandung, West Java, ended in unrest that broke out in the late afternoon around the Dago Cikapayang Park area. Approximately 150 people had gathered at the location since 4:00 p.m. local time.

As night fell, the situation escalated. The crowd set fire to a videotron display, a police post, and several banners. Fires were also seen burning on the streets, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air.

The group was also involved in direct clashes with members of the Jaga Lembur community organization and police officers in the Tamansari–Cikapayang intersection area. Several road barriers were burned before the crowd gradually dispersed at around 9:00 p.m.

As of today, police have arrested seven individuals suspected of involvement in the vandalism that occurred during the May Day unrest in Bandung. Six of them have been named suspects, identified by the initials MRN, MRA, RS, MFNA, FAP, and HIS.
