Grand Est, France: Attack on nuclear infrastructure in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito

Posted on 2022/12/20 - 2022/12/20 by darknights

In May of this year, the anarchist prisoner Alfredo Cospito was transferred to the 41bis isolation regime. The torture method of sensory deprivation aims to break his rebellious spirit and silence him. In order to obtain the removal of his isolation conditions, our comrade started an unlimited hunger strike on October 20. On December 1st – on the 42nd day of the hunger strike – a review of the conditions of detention decided to continue the torture procedure. If the Italian fascist state persists in its practice of isolation, Alfredo may not see the end of this year. But his death will not be a suicide: it will be the murder under torture of a vengeful political justice.

Let’s prevent this murder
The most passionate form of revolutionary solidarity is to continue the struggles for which our compasses are behind bars. It was in this spirit that on December 11, during a night-time sabotage action, we went to a pylon of the Fessenheim-Paris EHV line and unscrewed the bolts. The pylon is still standing, but its statics are clearly compromised. Let our revolutionary anger act in alliance with nature, and let a winter storm do the rest!

Alfredo has always been able to link the question of social revolution with that of ecology and, through his words and deeds, connect the ecocidal plundering of our planet with the struggle against the dominant powers, exploitation and oppression. In his statement on the shooting in the knee of the Italian nuclear industry leader Roberto Adinolfi (ansaldo nucleare) and later in various statements of the procè in the Scripta Manent case, he described the need to anchor a revolutionary perspective in the anti-nuclear movement. In a valuable contribution to the debate, he also spoke in 2018 about the struggle against the CIGÉO project for the burial of nuclear waste in the French village of Bure in the Meuse. Referring to the idea of diversity of tactics practiced there, he suggests an intensification of the forms of struggle chosen. This is one of the contributions that were later used to justify the hardening of his detention conditions. Alfredo Cospito fuori dal 41-bis : Solidarity from Bure

Revolutionary solidarity is a sailboat without borders that rides the waves of the storm!

From Bure, we wish to send all our solidarity to our comrade Alfredo Cospito, who is currently in solitary confinement (called “41-bis”) in the prison of Sassari in Sardinia (Italy) for having shot the CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare, designer and builder of nuclear power plants, for having claimed his action and for having greatly contributed, from prison, to the debate on our modes of action, the diversity of tactics, internationalism and the revolutionary perspective of the anti-nuclear movement.

Any attempt to isolate one of our comrades will fuel our anger and revive the sparks that drive us to act. Alfredo Cospito’s struggle is also our struggle: against nuclear power and the technocrats who rule the world.

While the extraction of uranium and other rare-earth elements continues to ravage territories and destroy bodies, while nuclear “tests” or bomb trainings have contaminated the regions and inhabitants of Quirra in Sardinia, the Hoggar mountains in Algeria, Moruroa and Fangataufa in Polynesia, and other territories taken over by the imperialist powers, while in its war against Ukraine, Russia is using nuclear power plants as a sword of Damocles, Europe agrees that nuclear power is a “green” energy, France is rushing head first to build new reactors and Italy is questioning the shutdown of its production (after all, it didn’t mind continuing to build power plants in other countries, so why continue to pretend to have stopped, right?). The projects of burying radioactive waste, in Bure (France) and now also in Italy, are not a search for solutions to the contaminations that nuclear power has produced, but tools to allow nuclear power to develop, more and more.

The Italian state, in the vanguard of the repression of our struggles, adopts, not too surprisingly, the strategy of isolation. Isolate more and more: on an island far from loved ones, alone in a prison, in a cell in the basement. Sardinia, a militarized island, a training ground for special forces, with its NATO bases, is a node of the war. For a long time, it has been used as a location for isolating the most problematic political prisoners, such as the Red Brigades and the Nuclei Armati Proletari locked up in the Fornelli prison in Asinara, whose revolt of October 2, 1979 should be recounted. The Fornelli prison has now become a museum, but it has not made history of all the other prisons, it has not put an end to the confinements in the 41-bis special regime, and therefore it will not archive our struggles. Even today, Sardinia is used as a land of deportation for the enemies of the state order.

Somewhere in the Alps: Nightly unbolting of Poma installations

Posted on 2021/09/11 by darknights

Owls from here and elsewhere, we set off into the dark night.
We followed the tracks of foxes and deer, sniffed the air of the coming autumn, leapt under the stars in the Alpine mountains and swooped on Poma’s installations to avenge its involvement in the CIGEO project for nuclear waste burial!
We chose to target Poma’s cable car lines in the Alpine resorts.

Poma the virtuous, queen of soft mobility and mass tourism, we have unmasked you!
Click makes the key!
Click and crack makes the first nut!
Click and crack makes the lock nut!
Slam the washer!
And sing the antinuke night birds
“Poma, go to hell!”

France: [Zine] History and context of the struggle in Bure

Posted on 2021/09/01 by darknights

Source: Bure Bure Bure

Here is a map of the territory around Bure, with indications in the following text. It is a representation of the area, in order to better understand the different places and the high points of the struggle (Andra laboratory, the former station of Luméville, Lejuc wood, the struggle against Unitech in Joinville, the archives of Houdelaincourt, the GIP,…). The map, which is more of a bird’s eye view of reality, could be completed with other more precise documents, for a more refined vision of the territory. What was important to us here was the space left to the text.

The struggle in Bure has been going on for almost 25 years, and in order to have a more complete vision of the past years, the second part of the zine is a chronology of the struggle against Cigéo. The two parts go together, but can also be read separatly. This is why historical sequences can be redundant from time to time (Lejuc wood and 2016-2017, for example).

As with any written perception of the territory and past events, this is a subjective (although collective) vision, a kind of tool, a mean. It should not be taken for granted and is only willing to be criticized, confronted with other opinions or testimonies.

The present zine is also available in French, German and Italian.
On this beautiful pompous verbiage, we wish you a nice reading session (and more if desired) against Cigéo!

Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle): Sabotage of a 5G Antenna

Posted on 2021/08/29 by darknights

Neither nuke nor 5G!

In the heights of the outskirts of Nancy, this August 18, a 5G antenna burned. ‘Neither nuke nor 5G!’ was tagged on a wall of the enclosure that protected the access.

This was one of many responses to the government’s obstinacy in forcing through its project to digitalize the world. This year will also be decisive for the nuclear waste burial project in Bure, which is also gaining ground despite local and wider opposition that has been going on for years. Nuclear and 5G are the pillars of a deadly industry.

Solidarity to all those charged as a result of these fights!

France: Claim of vandalism against nuclear-related infrastructures

Posted on 2021/06/23 - 2021/06/23 by darknights

On the night of… direct action against CIGEO [The Industrial Centre for Geological Disposal, is a deep geological disposal facility for radioactive waste to be built in France.]

At the beginning of June, the trial for criminal association against 7 persons took place in Bar-le-Duc. A trial against the opponents of the nuclear waste burial project in Bure, in the Meuse department. For the State, the stakes are clear: to try to crush, at any price, any resistance to the Bure nuclear waste dump project, one of the missing links in the French and European nuclear chain.

Sold as clean energy, nuclear energy is the opposite. From the extraction of uranium to the burial of waste, everything is a social and ecological disaster. Like what the “digital everything” society promises us. It will force us to an ever-increasing production of electrical energy, a demand that will increase in the future and that will have to go through nuclear power. The geopolitical bet of the digital reminds us of the one that was waged for the nuclear: no matter the massive rejection that lies ahead, the damages or the risks, the State has launched itself in its absurd race.

So, when Andra [the national entity for radioactive waste management; Ndtr.] wants to impose itself on a territory, all public officials are involved, to silence opposition to its productivist race: land exchanges, sale of forests, subsidies of thousands of euros to the departments of Meuse and Haute-Marne.
