London, UK: 11/07/22 Intervention at the Greek embassy in London for G.Michailidis and the struggle of the migrants in Elaionas

Intervention at the Greek embassy in London for G.Michailidis and the struggle of the migrants in Elaionas in Greece.

the text given out:

FREEDOM TO HUNGER STRIKER GIANNIS MICHAILIDIS

SOLIDARITY TO MIGRANTS IN GREECE

Giannis Michailidis is an anarchist prisoner on hunger strike since 23/5. He has served 8.5 years in prison and, while he fulfils all formal conditions for his release, he is kept in preventive detention. The Greek judges backed by the Greek state refuse to release him on the pretext that he does not meet the substantive conditions of release. This additional detention is being used at will to punish him for remaining unrepentant and maintaining a militant stance within the prison walls. This is not the first time Michailidis faces the vengeance of the Greek state. His heavy prosecution began in 2011 when an arrest warrant was issued against him for involvement in the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, for which he was later acquitted. He chose the path of illegality and was arrested in 2013 in Velvento Kozani, after expropriating a bank together with 3 other anarchists, where he was tortured by the police. Athens, Greece: Gathering outside Hellenic Cosmos at the book presentation of Adonis Georgiades

Posted on 2022/06/11 by darknights

On Wednesday, June 8th, an event/presentation of Adonis Georgiadis’ new book, entitled “Simple rhetoric lessons” will take place at Hellenic Cosmos. Also participating in the event are Makis Voridis, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Grigoris Psarianos, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos and Aris Portosalte.

We decided to intervene and disrupt the smooth conduct of this presentation both in the light of solidarity and support for our comrade and hunger striker since 23/5 Giannis Michailidis, who remains imprisoned indefinitely, despite meeting the formal conditions of his release for all his sentences after 8. 5 years of detention, but also to show that this mob is only specialised in one kind of rhetoric and that is hate speech.

These people, for various reasons, are for us despicable subjects of the political scene. Two ministers in key ministries such as Development and Investment (A. Georgiades) and Interior (M. Voridis) who are important cogs in the far-right wing of the ruling party with roots in neo-Nazism. Especially Voridis who was an active “activist” of the far right in the 1980s, either at the Athens College from which he was expelled for anti-Semitic attacks, or as the chosen one of the dictator Papadopoulos in the ΕΠΕΝ (Junta cops) during the years he studied at the Law School. A wing that has been upgraded over the last 10 years, effectively giving line to key issues in the public sphere. These particular ones, with their rhetoric and practice, are pushing for the implementation of increasingly conservative and obscurantist legislation. They are pushing for a more dynamic application of the ‘law and order’ doctrine. For more sweeping operations in the centre of Athens. For more freedom for uniformed killers to turn the bodies of the oppressed into shooting targets. It is no coincidence, moreover, that the New Democracy, through the mouth of Adonis Georgiades, took political responsibility for the execution of Nikos Sampanis in Perama. Along with the conservative positions they express on issues of repression, on economic issues they are supporters of the harsh neoliberal model as imagined by the technocrats of the Chicago Group. They are pushing for more privatisations, for fully flexible labour relations, for a cut in the rights of the economically weakest, for the dismantling of public health and education, in order to enrich big business with which they have friendly and behind-the-scenes relations. Thessaloniki, Greece: Intervention in “Kokkino” radio stationand Avgi as part of the nationwide day of solidarity actions against Giannis Michailidis

Posted on 2022/06/02 by darknights

Intervention in solidarity with the anarchist hunger striker G. Michailidis took place in the context of the nationwide day of action on Thursday morning 2/6 at the radio station “Sto Kokkino” in Thessaloniki.

During the intervention, leaflets were thrown and texts were distributed on Venizelos Street, while the programme was interrupted to play a recorded text of solidarity.

Immediate release of hunger striker G. Michailidis

Victory in the – since 23/5 – hunger strike by

All and everyone at the microphone solidarity meeting Thursday 2/6 at 19.00 Gounari & Tsimiski

Below is the text of the intervention:

Giannis Michailidis, has been in Greek prisons since 2013, and has been arrested in the past during clashes in anti-war and anti-state/anti-capitalist demonstrations. From his participation in anarchist student groups in his teenage years to the student struggles of 2006-2007 and December and from the struggles against the memoranda to a series of prisoners’ struggles, the comrade has fought and continues to fight against the state and capitalist dystopia without renouncing his ideas, without repenting for his choices.

Giannis continues to be imprisoned even though he has served the required sentence for his conditional release and the disciplinary sentence as well as the detention sentence (which is not merged) for the disciplinary offence of escape, and since Monday 23 May he has been on hunger strike against his vindictive treatment, demanding his freedom, putting his health and life at risk. 10th DAY OF THE HUNGER STRIKE OF GIANNIS MICHAILIDIS

Update from today’s intervention at ESIEA

The assembly in solidarity with the hunger striker Giannis Michailidis, who has been on hunger strike since 23/5, held an intervention today at the ESIEA building, in order to give visibility to the struggle of his comrade. As soon as the intervention started, the vice president of ESIEA was negative even with the hanging of the banner. We made it clear to him that we had come with the specific purpose of highlighting the hunger strike and that we would leave when we felt that the comrade’s hunger strike had been sufficiently highlighted. He threatened us that he would call the police and we replied that we would not leave the building until we had left safely and had achieved our purpose. He ordered all the telephone lines and computers in the building to be shut down to prevent the propaganda of the action.

We are not in a position to know if the vice president ultimately called the cops or if they came on their own. Two Delta groups (Motorcycle cops) came to the scene and even without any legitimacy they entered the ground floor and threatened us with arrest. We re-stated that we would not leave unless the police forces left. The determination of the solidarity groups to remain in the building made it clear to the president that in order to end the intervention the cops had to leave.

The banner was hung from the rooftop and leaflets were thrown.

About the choice to intervene in the ESIEA

We have no illusions about the mainstream media. However, against the constant tactic of the state apparatus to silence the hunger strikes, we had to intervene in order to make the demand for the immediate release of Giannis Michailidis heard. The regime media that wrote about the intervention did not post the text. Athens, Greece: A few words about the intervention to Professor A. Drakos

Posted on 2022/01/23 by darknights

The age we live in finds us trapped in a spectacular, imposing but at the same time fragile normality, the normality of the “aristocrats” and their slaves. Sitting behind their seats, with wide smiles and over-inflated bank accounts, the ‘excellent’ are the dream of every petty bourgeois. However much they may communicate this image, the pervasive rot and stench that pervades them is everywhere, infesting the space where they stand and breathe.

This image is usually accompanied by a high social status and perhaps a high-ranking position in the academic, artistic or political world. We do not forget the case of the serial rapist, pedophile and involved in shelters for underage refugee children, D. Lignadis, a ‘renowned’ actor in the eyes of the shaky Greek society, whose political contacts were and are so strong that he was appointed president of the National Theatre. Another shining example of ‘excellence and ethics’ is Nikos Georgiades, MP and political planning secretary of the New Democracy party. In 2016 this scumbag was found involved in a pedophile ring in Moldova. We apologize if the above names made you sick but there is a follow-up and that is the associate professor of financial management at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Anastasios Drakos.

On Tuesday 11/01/22 we coordinated a storming of the auditorium A of the Athens University of Economics and Business during a course taught by A. Drakos. His abusive attack, the writing of slogans on the walls of the auditorium and the physical violence we used were our main means of highlighting an issue that has been buried around powerful acquaintances.

Two anonymous complaints against A. Drakos have been made public, having in common his paedophile habits. More specifically, the first complaint comes from a former partner of A. Drakos-also a professor at the OPA-with whom he coexists in a loan sharking case and it is reported that A. Drakos was caught in the act of having sexual intercourse with underage children in their joint company in Romania in 2016. As for the second complaint, which was made public in 2019-also by two of his university colleagues who are not related to the aforementioned case-it says that in a meeting in a faculty room, A. Drakos disclosed his close friendly relations with the pedophile N. Georgiades, admitted that they share the same pedophilic tendencies and did not hesitate to show off his motives. All this in the same place where the subject in question continued to teach undisturbed for another four years. Continue reading “Athens, Greece: A few words about the intervention to Professor A. Athens, Greece: A brief review of the events of the last days in Exarcheia

Posted on 2022/01/19 - 2022/01/19 by darknights

We raise this update as we have noticed that in the mainstream media and the wider media, the events of the last few days, as well as the solidarity march for the Biologio steki, completely silence the fact that Exarcheia was, is and will be a neighbourhood that fights against gentrification and repression. We want to make it clear that these events are mass actions spontaneously flanked by people and prove that no matter how much Mitsotakis and his whole family want to, Exarcheia will not submit to their vices.

Wednesday 12/01/22

Since this morning, bulldozers and contractor crews arrive in Messolonghiou and proceed to excavate the pavement in order to electrify the new building where a luxury apartment block is being erected. After the work is temporarily halted due to complaints from residents, police forces arrive at the site. In the evening of the same day, a banner is displayed against the gentrification of Exarchia and people cover the holes that the bulldozers have made in the pedestrian street with earth. Athens, Greece: Tearing up Messolonghiou for luxury apartments + Gathering & Intervention against the destruction of Messolonghiou

Posted on 2022/01/19 - 2022/01/19 by darknights

This morning a bulldozer was tearing up the pedestrian street of Messolonghiou for the electrification of a building of luxury apartments.

Some people from the neighborhood approached the workers and asked them the reason for the works. The contractor said it was ΔΕΗ (electric company) works to supply electricity to the building intended for luxury apartments. When asked for the contractor’s documents, he refused them as he also denied the connection of the works with the building, while at the same time they were going in and out of the building.

The individuals managed to stop the works and the contractor left, but Messolonghi remains a wreck. 15 minutes later 6 DRASI and DELTA motorcycles arrived at the site and searched for the people.

Exarcheia is a neighbourhood under threat of gentrification. Residents are being displaced, squats are being vacated, rents are going up. This building in Messolonghiou, intended for luxury housing for the rich and tourists, is another example of the march of capital. Every day we see the neighbourhood being changed and transformed into a playground for big investors. At the same time the square and the turnpike are under constant threat. Thessaloniki, Greece: Intervention at MarCom tzelepoglou – Solidarity with Francisco Solar

Posted on 2021/11/25 - 2021/12/03 by darknights

On 24/11, an intervention took place, with leaflets and spray paint, at the company MarCom tzelepoglou, owned by the Chilean Consul, R. Tzelepoglou, as a minimal sign of solidarity with comrade F. Solar

“Prison is another point of struggle at the post-conflict level – the anti-authoritarian conflict is not over for me, it has just changed form”

-M. Caballero

24/7/20 in Chilean territory, anarchists Monica Caballero and Francisco Solar are arrested, accused of parcel-bombing. Specifically, for a bomb that exploded in the Huechuraba police station, leaving a cop seriously injured, – and one that was defused by the GOPE (operational police group), a bomb in the office of Rodrigo Hinzpeter, former minister and current manager of the Quiñenco company (one of Chile’s largest business groups), and finally, for planting two bombs in the Tánica building. Since 24/7, therefore, the comrades have been held in custody and have remained in the cells of the republic ever since.

In the first months of 2021, comrade F. Solar, along with other anarchist and subversive prisoners, participated in a hunger strike that lasted for more than 50 days, demanding the release of Marcelo Villarroel, and against the modification of Legislative Decree 321, while 11 years before, he had put his body as a mound in another hunger strike, for more than 60 days.

The serious health condition of the comrade, but also the expected indifference of the prison administration, led him on 22/09 to request further medical examinations, after an emergency hospitalization, where he was diagnosed with advanced diabetes (on the verge of a diabetic coma). Italy: Intervention of Alfredo Cospito to the initiative “Land of Love and Freedom” in Grisolia (24.08.2021)

Posted on 2021/09/06 - 2021/09/06 by darknights

The following text is the intervention of fellow anarchist Alfredo Cospito, currently imprisoned in Terni, for the debate on the book What International?, held in the context of the second edition of the initiative “Land of Love and Freedom”, two days of anarchist publishing in Calabria focused on internationalism and revolutionary continuity, in Grisolia 23-24 August 2021.

Lately I have been wondering with what nerve an anarchist prisoner for ten years as I claim to express an analysis “realistic” about the present, the real movement outside these four walls. The interview with “Vetriolo” caught me still relatively soaked in reality, out of the fray of the struggle, still convinced of having a “realistic” and objective view of the world. What international? is the result of thirty years of practiced struggle, of blows inflicted and received, of affinities and friendships born and then traumatically severed by the wall of a prison. Summing up, today I can say with a certain conviction that the only moments in which I was certain of having contributed to changing things were those moments in which I clashed with the system, in which I risked my freedom and my skin. In those moments I lived, I felt more alive than ever. And the pleasure I felt was incomparable, comparable only to the love for one’s own or one’s partner in the most intense moments of passion. I remember when, as a young boy, it seemed impossible for me to intervene concretely, the level of deepening always seemed insufficient, the practical skills I had didn’t seem up to the task, I didn’t know where to start, at the beginning one feels inept, incapable… I was waiting for a suggestion, a start from my more experienced companions. Often, in exchange for my enthusiasm, I received a good dose of “realism” that dampened or risked dampening any revolutionary “ambition”, any drive to action. Incredible as it may seem, “realism” sometimes makes any action, any impetus, impossible. I came out of this sort of “dead end” only when I decided in an impish, reckless, crazy, provocative way to arm my hands. Then everything became “easy”, failure after failure, step by step, things started to work. I looked for my companions and I found them, we recognized each other by making the refusal of delegation and wait-and-see our compass. Many (perhaps too many) years have passed since that time and today I find myself on the other side, “navigated” anarchist with more “experience”. And what I feel like saying is simply to follow your instincts and not to pay too much attention to the prudence of those who from the height of their lives “lived” push for moderation. Because that popular saying “you are born an arsonist and you die a fireman” is not so far-fetched. Every day in here I fight with myself to remain what I was, and I don’t always succeed. In my words I sometimes glimpse what I’ve always fought, opportunism, paternalism, realism… “politics”. Dynamics that risk making me forget how beautiful it was to communicate only through gestures of destruction and the words that followed them. When I wasn’t in danger of becoming a “point of reference”, when I was a complete stranger. And the stupid things I happened to say remained limited, no one rightly spun them. The tragicomic thing is that the “metamorphosis” is almost painless and does not only affect us prisoners but perhaps even more those who outside these walls every day relate to a reality that tends to normalize. The “realism” drags you to a continuous decline that leads you to judge those who remain “themselves” as naive, provocative, childish, deluded.
