Italy: A text by Anna Beniamino about Marilù Maschietto

Posted on 2021/11/29 by darknights

Written by Anna from prison on the occasion of a day dedicated to Marilù

There are people who are a safe harbor to land in. Marilu had all the characteristics, although thorny and ironic in the discussion and in certain cynical anecdotes of the miseries of the movement, she knew how to be welcoming, always and in any case, without fear or difficulty. In her telling and recounting, far from the rhetoric of some of her writings that linger in a certain hagiographic complacency in painting portraits of comrades and episodes of the 80s, she gave her best in the daily concreteness, with the simplicity of those who have known and lived the most varied experiences. Thus surfaced the revolutionary wave and the times of backwash and the companions of a life of militancy (term now a bit ‘retro, but full of meaning on her lips): from the old anarchist partisans from Carrara described in an anti-rhetorical form, in the act of digging up their infracycles treasures to help the young people of AR, to the ” comrades ” of the Roman squats of the 90s to support in the occupations; from Horst Fantazzini in the few periods of freedom between one jail and another, greedy for life and adventure, to Gianfranco Faina, an intellectual in struggle and on the run; Fernando Del Grosso, a partisan from Abruzzo, who told of not giving himself peace until he reached all those responsible for the death of his brothers slaughtered by the Nazi-Fascists. All this mixed with memories of a trip to Nicaragua to support the struggle and the stories of the Bangladeshi stallholder to help with his problems of being an illegal immigrant in the metropolis, the posters of Casa Pound under the arcades of Piazza Vittorio to tear down (“and if no one helps me I’ll go”, and she really did! ) and the frequentation of the chorus of women singers of the popular tradition and struggle, the flamenco shoes shown with pride and the heart medicine “forgotten” in the drawer, her presence at any parade, making fun of the dismayed look on the guards’ faces when they saw this lady in a camel-colored coat and half-heeled shoes surrounded by young punks, the same smile with which she whispered, twenty years ago in the streets of Genoa, “we’re going together” taking under her arm the comrades she saw weighed down by “overly” loaded backpacks.
The same density of stratified experience immediately caught the attention of those who crossed the threshold of the old house in Piazza Vittorio for the first time, also of lived and crumpled nobility, between the Bangla market and the Chinese stores, open day and night for the comrades. On the walls were oil portraits of a frowning nineteenth-century ancestor (Marilu came from a noble and “fascist” family of Ferrara, of which she was the refractory daughter) and posters of the fight against special prisons; the photos of dead comrades and the lace tablecloths worn to welcome the living ones, the peach stones carved in the shape of a ring “Horst’s gift when he was in jail” and the ” diary” with the phone numbers written in pen on the wall (“so when they come for the next search, even if they take away the diary I’ll have them”), behind the heavy frame that enclosed the aforementioned noble frown.

It was clear that there were no stereotypes of movement applicable, but solidarity and indestructible bonds were always valid, despite galleys and ideal shipwrecks; pride was valid, in narrating her and her comrades’ experiences of struggle, the pride of narrating something well done, a job completed to the end.
In this sense, above all, she was enlightening and luminous in revealing, almost in a fairy-tale way, the hardness of the blows she received and the beauty of resistance, freeing those who came into contact with her from the heavy weight we carry on us, in order to travel light.
It would have made a mockery of the infamous presence of the police, up to the occasion of the last farewell to her, the last anecdote of an anarchist watched by living and dead, as if a funeral could be a seditious demonstration. Or perhaps, in these dark times, the dead are considered more alive than the living?

In Defense of Associative Specificity by Gustavo Rodríguez EN/ES

ES: APOLOGÍA A LA ESPECIFICIDAD ASOCIATIVA

“The International was founded in order to replace the Socialist or semi-Socialist sects by a real organisation of the working class for struggle. The original Statutes and the Inaugural Address show this at the first glance. On the other hand the Internationalists could not have maintained themselves if the course of history had not already smashed up the sectarian system. The development of the system of Socialist sects and that of the real workers’ movement always stand in inverse ratio to each other. So long as the sects are (historically) justified, the working class is not yet ripe for an independent historic movement. As soon as it has attained this maturity al sects are essentially reactionary. […] And the history of the International was a continual struggle on the part of the General Council against the sects […] At the end of 1868 the Russian, Bakunin, entered the International with the aim of forming inside it a second International called the “Alliance of Social-Democracy,” with himself as leader. He – a man devoid of theoretical knowledge – put forward the pretension that this separate body was to represent the scientific propaganda of the International, which was to be made the special function of this second International within the International. His programme was a superficially scraped together hash of Right and Left […] atheism as a dogma to be dictated to the members, etc., and as the main dogma (Proudhonist), abstention from the political movement. This infant’s spelling-book found favour (and still has a certain hold) in Italy and Spain, where the real conditions of the workers’ movement are as yet little developed, and among a few vain, ambitious and empty doctrinaires in French Switzerland and Belgium. Resolutions I (2) and (3) and IX now give the New York committee legal weapons with which to put an end to all sectarian formations and amateur groups and if necessary to expel them.”

K. Marx, Letter to Friedrich Bolte, November 23, 1871. [1]

Since the defeat of Spanish anarcho-syndicalism, reiteration is a frequent ocurrence in the Babellian context in which the life of the so-called “anarchist movement” painfully takes place.[2] As if it were “Groundhog Day” [3], we are condemned to repeat the same experience indefinitely. Time and again, the ideological displacements and the conceptualizations of others gain presence in our camp. Thus – again – the notions of “sect”, “sectarianism” and “sectarian” emerge in the debate. We don’t have the slightest chance of escaping from this vicious cycle. Like Phil Connors (Bill Murray) in the famous comedy, every day the same song is hammered into us (at six in the morning!), forced to repeat ourselves in an infinite cycle from which not even suicide saves us.

Perhaps, for those who come from the so-called “left” – who have happily already evolved into “libertarian” positions – and today share the same barricade side by side, these imprecations have always been there, close at hand. Ready to be wielded at the slightest provocation. So they assume that such curse words are part of our lexicon or that they are part of a kind of universal vocabulary that we have to use out of obligation.

For those of us who have been in the fight for some years, the feeling of déjà vécu caused by the remastering of this farcical operetta is inevitable. Indeed, it’s not the first time that we have to face these epithets and, definitely, it will not be the last. They are repeated as a mantra invoking the “crushing march of history” (Saint Charlie of Trier, dixit). The sad observation is that this liturgy even occurs in the ins and outs of the praxis —live and active today— of the Informal Anarchic Tendency (TIA). A tendency that has no place for uniforming practices, nor for repetition; that is to say, the attempts at fronts, nor the attempts at “tactical unity” and “collective responsibility.” Continue reading “In Defense of Associative Specificity by Gustavo Rodríguez EN/ES” →

Thessaloniki, Greece: Intervention at MarCom tzelepoglou – Solidarity with Francisco Solar

Posted on 2021/11/25 - 2021/12/03 by darknights

On 24/11, an intervention took place, with leaflets and spray paint, at the company MarCom tzelepoglou, owned by the Chilean Consul, R. Tzelepoglou, as a minimal sign of solidarity with comrade F. Solar

“Prison is another point of struggle at the post-conflict level – the anti-authoritarian conflict is not over for me, it has just changed form”

-M. Caballero

24/7/20 in Chilean territory, anarchists Monica Caballero and Francisco Solar are arrested, accused of parcel-bombing. Specifically, for a bomb that exploded in the Huechuraba police station, leaving a cop seriously injured, – and one that was defused by the GOPE (operational police group), a bomb in the office of Rodrigo Hinzpeter, former minister and current manager of the Quiñenco company (one of Chile’s largest business groups), and finally, for planting two bombs in the Tánica building. Since 24/7, therefore, the comrades have been held in custody and have remained in the cells of the republic ever since.

In the first months of 2021, comrade F. Solar, along with other anarchist and subversive prisoners, participated in a hunger strike that lasted for more than 50 days, demanding the release of Marcelo Villarroel, and against the modification of Legislative Decree 321, while 11 years before, he had put his body as a mound in another hunger strike, for more than 60 days.

The serious health condition of the comrade, but also the expected indifference of the prison administration, led him on 22/09 to request further medical examinations, after an emergency hospitalization, where he was diagnosed with advanced diabetes (on the verge of a diabetic coma). Germany: Solidarity and Complicity with Cem

Posted on 2021/11/25 by darknights

Cem is accused of being involved in various attacks as a member of the Revolutionary Action Cells (RAZ) / Revolutionary Left (RL).  From 2009 to 2011 the Revolutionary Action Cells (RAZ) / Revolutionäre Linke (RL) carried out various actions, such as In 2010 and 2011, attacks took place on the „Haus der Wirtschaft“, the Senate Department for Urban Development and the Wedding District Court, as well bullet casings to different repressive authorities . In addition, he is accused of helping the underground magazine „radikal“. The §129 was overturned in 2016 and cem was tried in 2018 for arson and the „radikal“. He is the only one left from the initially accused with §129 and it shouldn’t be a coincidence that he is the only one who is not in possession of the German citizenship. This prozess also shows that the authorities never stop investigating, if they see a chance to opress ideas that fight for another world, they do even decades after.

The whole trial is a parody, for example, completely unproven claims made by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution became strong indications. When it comes to arson, procedural the constitutional protection is not supposed to be taken into account. Various state bodies were supported by the court, by kindly sending their original statements, in their memory of the events more than 8 years ago. Just before they were invited to be witnesses.
The verdict of the trial will be individually carried out for Cem from the court on 01.12.2021 at 09:00 a.m.

We won’t wait for any court decision, instead, we decided to take to the streets. Whether criminals or terrorists, we will show our deep solidarity against the oppression by authorities and our complicity in fighting against the capitalist warring and exploitative system. We also want to use this moment to remember alex, who was also repressed in this case and is not with us any more.

We call for a gathering and a demo on 28.11.2021 at 14.00, U-Bhf. Turmstraße, Berlin

No one left alone on the hands of the state!
Solidarity is our weapon!

Metz, France: News from Boris

Posted on 2021/11/25 by darknights

Contrary to what we had hoped for, stopping the sedation about a month and a half ago was not the beginning of a full recovery. Boris is still in the burn unit of the hospital in Metz, in the intensive care unit. His condition is fragile and unstable. He is still not able to speak or write. It is not known how long it will take for him to regain his abilities.

Moreover, his belongings cannot be recovered in prison. Therefore, it can be imagined that the investigation of the cell fire is still ongoing.

News will be given according to the evolution of the situation.

Rotterdam, Netherlands: Reflections and Report on the Nov. 19 Riots

Posted on 2021/11/25 by darknights

A comrade in the Netherlands has sent a first-hand report from last night’s extraordinary anti-police riots in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which included Dutch police firing their guns into the crowd.

Some out-of-touch “leftists” have tried to dismiss these riots because they coincided with and/or overtook a protest called by the right wing against new government restrictions. However, something like last night’s youth uprising against police cannot be so simply reduced— as our writer makes clear.

I don’t know where to start writing about this. On the one hand I’m overtaken by emotion, still processing the things I witnessed last night. On the other hand I’m trying to make sense of what has happened from the perspective of someone who believes in social revolution. I don’t think the latter will be something that I can fit into this short, emotionally laden piece of text, but some things need to be said about this right now. What happened last night was so much more than the supposed “fascist riot” many are dismissing it as.

Last night a protest against the (renewed) Coronavirus measures was called. This protest was clearly initiated by people that should, for the most part, be called fascist. These protests draw a crowd much more diverse than just fascists, however, and the discontent is broadening, especially now that the state is imposing more and stricter repression to control the spread of the virus.

In all this time I had not seen a single sign related to the protest, not heard a single slogan, not seen a single banner. This was about a collective and widespread hate for the police. You could taste, smell and feel it on every single corner of that street that night.

Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône (Bouches-du-Rhône), France: Attack on wind turbines

Posted on 2021/11/25 - 2021/11/25 by darknights

State speeches and the media show on climate change accompany and legitimize a new transformation of the technological system.
Diversifying and multiplying energy sources in order to perpetuate exploitation and control: revival of nuclear power, “solar farms”, “wind farms” to feed telework, robotics, the internet of things, electric cars…

One night at the end of October, while the newspapers were talking about COP26 and the energy crisis, we sabotaged three wind turbines of the Port Saint Louis du Rhône wind farm. After opening the ventilation grid, we set fire to the cables and electrical installations located below.

For direct action.

Toulouse, France: Unraveling the web

Posted on 2021/11/25 by darknights

19/11/2021

During the night of November 17 to 18 in Toulouse North district, 4 vans of a fiber optic installation company, burned.

The COP26 has just come to an end and the media debate is focused on the choice of a source of energy capable of making France sovereign and not appearing crude in terms of pollution. In this apocalyptic landscape, the expansion of broadband internet is at its peak and already announces a society where the state will need more and more energy to dematerialize the whole economy via internet. That’s why we tried to block the way to a company that installs fiber optics in businesses by setting their vehicles on fire.

Thessaloniki, Greece: Explosive attacks on 2 houses of assassins in uniform by Direct Action Cells – Organzation Anarchist Action

Posted on 2021/11/21 - 2021/11/25 by darknights

On 22 October, uniformed assassins of the DIAS, detect a stolen vehicle in the neighbourhoods of Piraeus and pursue it. At the same time that the vehicle is trapped and immobilized, surrounded by numerous and armored police forces, the cops raise their guns and shoot in cold blood with 38 bullets 18-year-old Nikos Sampanis. Typically brought into the arms of civil justice are 7 cops involved in the murder, who under the blessings and praise of the Minister of Uniformed Killers himself, Theodorikakos, are released. The operation is a complete success. Score – one dead for one stolen vehicle.

From propaganda to praxis

Justice is a revolutionary affair and comes like the Sword of Damocles on your heads. As a minimum first retaliation for the previously announced murder of Niko Sampani, we take responsibility for the explosive attacks with low-powered devices on the houses of two bounty hunters in uniform, Lefteris Gatos at 19 Graziou Street and Dimitrios Daggli at 45 Olympiad Street, in the early morning hours of November 15th in Thessaloniki. Our attacks took place a few hours after a new outrageous event came to light: the arrest of yet another uniformed man for indecent assault on his 4-year-old daughter. We had made it clear that nothing goes unanswered, let alone a murder. And while incidents of police brutality are increasing by the day, passive waiting is not one of our characteristics. We go on the offensive again by publicly stating that as of today the bounty list has 19 more unpunished scumbags (with no guarantee that the above two will not be re-targeted in the future).

To cut the laughter…

Last July, we proceeded to put a public bounty on 21 hired killers of the Greek Police, showing you a small but not insignificant sample of our own factionalism in the face of your impunity. And we saw the fear and terror in your eyes when you took Tsairidis from channel to channel crying and begging justice for protection. A few months later, our deeds complement our words. As long as you are unpunished, you are unprotected. History itself has shown that murderers and torturers will always meet the punishing hand of revolutionary violence, of true justice. That is why our attacks on the political descendants of the junta’s torturers, a few hours before the anniversary of the ’73 uprising, are a tribute to the memory of the dead of the Polytechnic. Greece: Update on the appeal court of anarchist Vangelis Stathopoulos, set for 9 February 2022

Posted on 2021/11/21 - 2021/11/25 by darknights

19 years in prison without evidence

In April, 2021 the anarchist Vangelis Stathopoulos was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Appeal to 19 years in prison. Our comrade has been in custody since November 2019, in the first repressive operation of New Democracy – after coming to power – regarding the imprisonment of militants through trumped up charges and blatant plots.

Vangelis Stathopoulos, when asked, provided first aid to an injured comrade. The court of appeal, presided over by Maria Giannakopoulou – the same judge who had convicted Tasos Theofilou in the first instance – sentenced him to 19 years in prison for participation in the “Revolutionary Self-Defence” organisation and for theft in an ΟΠΑΠ store (the biggest  Gambling company in Greece).

Based on what data? On the basis of the same evidence with which many militants have been imprisoned over the past years: the well-known “anonymous phone calls” of the anti-terrorist police, the anti-scientific “dna samples” of the anti-terrorist police and the “testimonies” dictated by the police. It is significant that during his arrest, the commander of the Anti-Terrorist Service, Lefteris Hardalias, told him: “We know you have nothing to do with the robbery at OΠΑΠ, but you will find the icing on the cake tomorrow.” The cherry on the cake was the police’s methodical claim that Vangelis Stathopoulos was involved in the ‘Revolutionary Self-Defense’ organization.

In a court of law, in which 3 witnesses testified they were with Vangelis in the centre of Athens at the time of the theft at the OPAP store in Cholargos. In a court, in which even the prosecution witnesses themselves testified that they did not identify Vangelis in any of the organisation’s attacks, nor in the theft. In a court, in which a biologist/technical consultant testified that this particular dna sample could be anyone’s. In the same court, our comrade was sentenced to 19 years.
