Athens, Greece: Arson attack on Hertz van in solidarity with anarchist hunger striker Giannis Michailidis

The anarchist hunger striker G. Michailidis has been on hunger strike since 23/5 demanding his just demand for release after serving 3/5 of his sentence. For the past 2 months he has received rejection decisions for his just request, while he continues his hunger strike until today with the risk of suffering irreparable damage to his physical health.

At the same time, the state is taking provocative decisions by acquitting notorious and socially reprehensible cases of people in the system such as Hortaria, Leventis, Korkoneas, Filippidis and Lignadis.The above cases happen to take on dimensions because of the fame of the accused. The state protects and exonerates its own people and its supporters, which is a constant condition. The responsibility of the pro-democratic classes is to remind again and again of their capitalist and patriarchal values. Property is a sacred value of what exists, therefore destruction and vandalism are criminal acts. In contrast, rape of women and minors, state murder at the hands of cops are not so valuable to the state and justice. This was the message we were conveyed by the decisions of their courts in the last period of time. It is probably no coincidence that these decisions were made at this particular time and circumstance. On the other hand, the authorities are avenging and exterminating political prisoners, migrants, Roma and poor people by extending the time of their incarceration, without any regard for their procedural and human rights.Let us be clear, we are talking about a war of different worlds and values without any suspensions, which is why we do not believe in any rule of law.

So as an indicative warning for the next decision of the Lamia council on 25/7 we decided on the 7th week of the hunger strike, at dawn on Monday 11/7, the flame of the solidarity struggle will wrap a van of the car rental company Hertz in the area of Vyronas. Hertz supplies the Greek police forces with cars and offers special conditions of suppressive forces worldwide. Removing the Hertz label from the cars of the OPKE is not enough. Hertz is an enemy of the struggle against repression. We are here, following your steps and your movements; nothing will go unanswered.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for incendiary attack on bank in solidarity with G. Michailidis by Anarchists

The anarchist prisoner G. Michailidis has been on hunger strike since 23/5 demanding the release he is entitled to and is already in danger of suffering permanent damage to his health. After the negative proposal of the prosecutor, the judicial authorities prolonged the torture of Giannis, setting the Lamia council that will meet for his release on Monday 25 July, the 64th day of our comrade’s hunger strike.

Alongside the intensifying torture of the captive comrade, the judicial system blatantly confirms its role as a mechanism for the maintenance and reproduction of class power and its culture. It releases the killer cop of the anarchist Alexandros Grigoropoulos, Korkoneas, the serial rapist Filippidis, the petty bourgeois murderer of Zackie, Horteria, acquits the big-time Leventis for the gang rape of Georgia Bika and gives parole to the serial child rapist, director of the national theatre, Lignadis. The message is clear. The bodies of the oppressed have no value against the appetites of the powerful and their praetorians. Those who belong to the ruling classes can murder and violate the bodies of the oppressed and bourgeois justice is there to reward them, to acquit them, to give them extenuating circumstances, to find them unsuspecting of committing new crimes.

On the contrary, comrade Giannis Michailidis is persecuted, tortured and remains indefinitely imprisoned and suspected of committing new crimes. Precisely because he did not use violence against those from below, but instead took up arms and turned them against the ruling classes and their temples. The temples of the reproduction of capital, of the exploitation and enslavement of our lives. The banks, the pillars of the capitalist system of power that for years, in order to maintain themselves at all costs, our lives have been torn apart by wage cuts, unemployment, home foreclosures, economic exclusion and misery.

As a sign of minimal practical solidarity with Giannis’ struggle, as a sign of our solidarity, we mounted an attack on the National Bank of Greece on G. Avxentiou Street in Ilisia, placing an incendiary device and causing damage to the exterior wall and an internal auxiliary room of the bank.

Let us make it clear that we will be, alongside Giannis, once again the cutting edge, which, even if only temporarily, will inevitably penetrate the murderous class that sustains this system of generalized enslavement and exploitation of (human and non-human) nature…

Giannis Michailidis: Rape after the murder of the concept of justice

For Greek “justice”, a rapist of a child (D. Lignadis) has been sufficiently rehabilitated and is not a danger to society after less than 1.5 years in prison. A racially motivated murderer (Ath. Hortarias), has been sufficiently rehabilitated and is also not a danger after 2 months in prison. The murderer of 15-year-old Alexandros (Ep. Korkoneas) does not deserve life imprisonment. Another rapist (P. Filippidis), earns his freedom prematurely as he is not considered dangerous because of his celebrity. This is the “epic” of crony Greek “justice”.

However, for Greek “justice” an anarchist bank robber and escapee, after almost 9 years in prison and 7 months, after completing the required 3/5 of the sentence, “risks committing new crimes as he has not spent sufficient time in prison”.

What I understand is that robbing a bank and escaping from prison is far worse than rape or murder. Especially if the rapist is a close friend of ministers or the killers kill troublesome kids or marginalised people. After all, isn’t the role of the state to protect capital? Also, it will obviously show more vindictiveness towards someone who has actively challenged the feared institution of prison, absolutely necessary for disciplining society.

And as for bank robberies, now that we’re impoverishing you, don’t get any ideas. If you want to rape a kid, a wink to a minister will do the trick! This is the clear message of Greek “justice”.

I received it. That’s why I started a hunger strike. To expose all those arbitrary acts against me, which I list at the beginning of the text. However, from what I can see they don’t need me. They have made their own judgments. Not even for appearances.

I think they are even using the hunger strike as an example now. They’ve set my appeal hearing for 7/25. On that day I will have done 64 days’ hunger strike. The aim is clear. To exhaust me. A possible permanent disability reinforces the message they are sending. Perhaps my eventual death, which becomes more likely with each passing day. Such a perversion of the concept of justice is unthinkable. Let them enjoy their “justice”. Enjoy your careers.

As for me, who do not have access to their villas with their lavish tables paid for with bribes, I can greet this world fasting, but with the spiritual fullness of total existential conflict with their rotten system.

L’Haÿ-Les-Roses, France: Arson of a Vinci utility vehicle in solidarity with Yvan

During the night of July 7 to 8, rue Paul Hochart in l’Haÿ-Les-Roses (94), we set fire to a Vinci van. Vinci is a shitty company for many reasons but especially due to the fact that it builds prisons. In solidarity with Yvan, an anarchist comrade incarcerated in the Villepinte prison suspected of having set fire to different types of cars, we attacked a vehicle of this company by burning it.

Even if this action won’t reverse the order of things, it will at least put a wrench in the gears of a tangible structure of domination. The targets are everywhere, let’s attack them!

On Tuesday 12/7 and while our companion is on his 52nd day of hunger strike, an intervention by 20 people took place on Kontra channel during a broadcast by A. Yamalis. During the intervention, a banner was put up and parts of the text of the assembly in solidarity with the anarchist hunger striker G. Michailidis were read.

The comrade is now in danger of severe multiple organ failure. After 8.5 years of detention, he demands the obvious. The release to which he has been entitled for 7 months according to their own laws. In order to justify the indefinite hostage-taking of the comrade, the pretext is used that the prisoner “does not meet the essential conditions for release, as there is a risk of committing new offences”.

In addition to the exceptional regime against political prisoners, whi Giannis is fighting with his body barricaded, it also exposes the whole mechanism of cover-up and bias that reflects what their “justice” really is; while our comrade is melting in a miserable cell of the Lamia hospital, to defiantly release “their people”. Lignadis, Hortarias, Filipidis, Korkoneas, Leventis.

We have no illusions. The justice system that has released murderers and rapists in the last few days is classist. We declare in all tones that our anger will drown you. Street justice will not let you exterminate our comrade.

Italy: On the sentence of the Operation Scripta Manent trial

SCRIPTA MANENT SENTENCE

The hearing of the Scripta Manent trial took place on July 6 at the Court of Cassation (Supreme Court). The court reclassified the facts of the explosive attack to the Carabinieri students school in Fossano (Cuneo) on June 2, 2006, claimed by Rivolta Anonima Tremenda – Federazione Anarchica Informale, for which Anna and Alfredo were prosecuted, in “massacre & political” (art, 285), returning the process to the court of Torino for the punitive recalculation of the sentence. All the other sentences were confirmed, between 1 year and 9 months and 2 years and 6 months, for 11 comrades, and the acquittals for the rest of the defendants, which thus become definitive.

There will come times for more detailed reflections. What does seem evident to us is the determination of the State to break the anarchist movement and the revolutionary struggle, making even worse what happened before the Court of Assise (National Court) of Turin, with a sentence that does not seem to presume any margin for criticism. While the contradictions on which society is governed become more and more unmanageable, before the social tension takes forms that the power does not know how to manage, the State tries to give a blunt blow to the movement and a warning to those who do not desist: two or three years for those who publish a newspaper, dozens of years or even life imprisonment for those who act.

The recent decision to lock Alfredo up in 41 bis, shamelessly taken, moreover, on the eve of this sentence, is perfectly qualified in this State reprisal: the decisions have been taken, Alfredo has to stay buried, literally, in prison. His ideas, his actions, his contribution must be silenced, condemned to oblivion.

But forgetting the prisoners of the social war means forgetting the war itself: revolutionary solidarity with the anarchists Anna Beniamino and Alfredo Cospito. Death to the State and capital, long live anarchy.

Philadelphia, USA: Jane’s Revenge vandalized Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia

In the wee hours of July 6th, the office of the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia (88 Pennsylvania Ave Oreland, PA) had their front window smashed and their wall vandalized with “JANE’S REVENGE”. The Pro-Life Union runs two crisis pregnancy centers (Guiding Star Mother’s Home: 1940 E Chelten Ave, Philadelphia, PA, and The Cenacle: 1509 Church St, Philadelphia, PA) and an anti-abortion pregnancy hotline (610-626-4006). They also organize anti-abortion rallies outside of abortion clinics where clients are harassed and shamed, and have numerous member organizations involved in a variety of anti-abortion programs in the greater Philadelphia area (list can be accessed at prolifeunion.org/member-organizations).

We hope that all queers, anarchists, anti-fascists, and just plain-old pissed-off feminists in the area will use this information wisely. Plan with a group of friends, wear a mask, and take action. Project your rage on your enemies. Dissapear into the night.

Italy: We will not stay warm during the storm

Let’s be clear: we want Alfredo out of 41bis.

Our proposal is not that of a specialized campaign against 41bis or against prisons: not because we like these institutions or because we think anyone should remain locked up in them, but because we think it is urgent to start from a “simpler” goal, knowing full well that when we have achieved it we will not have even begun in our struggle, which is for social revolution.

A struggle for the destruction of the prison cannot be won as long as there are states and authorities: therefore, these are battles that must be carried on continuously, but we would like, in this case, to try to give ourselves an attainable goal even in the short or medium term.

The fight against prison is – in itself – a fight against the existing, because the end of prisons means the end of the state, similarly the fight against 41bis, in Italy, goes to touch some of the foundations of the Italian state, which since its introduction has made it the workhorse of the “fight against the mafia.” Let’s face it clearly and humbly: 41bis is one of the ideological pillars of the Italian state, which has among its mottos “41bis or death!” The anti-mafia war has shown us this: the state, instead of giving up 41bis, has been willing to make the population pay for mafia bombs, such as the massacre of Via Georgofili in Florence or Via Palestro in Milan. So we find it difficult that on the abolition of that prison regime specifically (as, moreover, of prison in general), we can make pressures, whether harmless or violent. Whereas we think it is different to lobby specifically for the downgrading of Alfredo. This is not to say that our speeches, or our actions, should be watered down. The radicality of our struggle must be ensured, even in the case of a “partial demand” such as Alfredo’s demotion, by never disjointing the goals we can and must set ourselves with the social-political reasons for our anarchist actions. The radicality of action, propaganda, and agitation are the only antibody to strongly reiterate that our struggle is for the destruction of the existent, without mediation, preventing our demands, from that of the liberation of a comrade to stopping this or that project of capital, from being assimilated into a power-compatible reformism. Greece: A letter from the special cell of Lamia Hospital – Giannis Michailidis

The scorpion is an insect that differs little from its ancestral species, which were among the first animals to walk on land hundreds of millions of years ago. It has been observed that individuals of this species, when trapped among the flames with no visible escape route, do a remarkable thing: they turn their sting on themselves and commit suicide! A behavior that offers no evolutionary advantage, as on the slim chance that the fire would go out, the surviving animals could continue to reproduce. A behavior that contradicts the theory that insects are biological robots because they exhibit standardized behaviors.

The simplest way I can explain this behaviour is that the evolution of life does not build robots, but instead creates neural systems for information processing and decision making. Recurring patterns of behaviour emerge from the complex operation of self-organised neural circuits, which in most cases do indeed favour maximum reproductive potential. So then, these tiny nervous systems with several orders of magnitude fewer neural synapses than our brains produce a behaviour that betrays evidence of their internal functioning:

These animals experience pain, meaning pain as a stimulus that the animal tries to eliminate.
These animals experience fear, meaning fear as an internal mental projection of a future situation.
They have knowledge that they possess a murderous tool with which they kill their prey and defend themselves from their predators: the stinger.
They associate the feeling of pain with their body as they point the stinger at themselves.
The association of pain with self-consciousness, since pain is an elementary form of mental state, and consciousness is thought upon thought, constitutes a primitive form of consciousness. So pain is in a sense conscious.

Patras, Greece: Paint attack and breaking of windows at courthouse in solidarity with anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis

On Monday night 11/7 we attacked the Patras courthouse, painting the facade and breaking its windows, in solidarity with the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis who is on hunger strike since 23/5, waging a struggle against state vengeance with his own body as a weapon.

The comrade, having already served about 8.5 years in prison since December 2021, is entitled to his temporary release from prison, something that runs up against the refusals of the competent judges and councils, as in essence, he does not abandon his militant identity, course and dignity, as clearly demanded by the extortionist regime imposed on him.

It is the same justice that is now avenging the comrade but also so many other militants, so many others who are in the excluded and impoverished social strata, all this prison population that is being beaten by the repressive state boot of the law and order doctrine, the new prison and penal regulations.

In the person of the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis, the state takes revenge on all those who stand up against the violence and the rottenness of the capitalist authoritarian world, who take a stand for struggle and action. At the same time, every rapist, every fascist, every uniformed murderer, every paramilitary, every golden boy, every politician responsible for scandals and so many others who are the children, the cogs of political and economic power, enjoy either immunity or the favour of justice.

Make no mistake, justice is and will be class-based in the capitalist/extremist world, and every cop killer like Korkoneas and those who tortured Zack/Zackie, every Golden Dawn, every Hortaria*, every Filippidis**, and so on will continue to walk with the state’s backs amply provided for them.

The militant dignity, history and the means of struggle, the ideas for a free world of equality and solidarity, the anti-statist/anti-capitalist struggle is the only way against the murderous nature of this world that spreads poverty, refugeeism, wars, inequality, misery. This is the road that comrade Giannis Michailidis is walking and we stand unwaveringly by his side.
