Buenos Aires, Argentina: Arrested comrades accused of participating in the arson attack against the newspaper El Clarin.

On November 22, 2021 Molotov bombs hit the façade of the newspaper El Clarin in Buenos Aires. The action was not vindicated, and a few days later, according to the press, the police had come across a series of surveillance cameras where the attackers were identified on their way to the action.

In December, the police arrested a comrade accused of the attack and he is still in custody.

On March 21, 2022, in various repressive operations carried out by the DUIA (Departamento Unidad de Investigaciones, DN: Anti-terrorist), the police arrested five suspects in the attack. According to police versions, through the use of public transportation cards used in the sector, geo-referencing the use of cellular antennas and surveillance cameras, they were able to build the route of the attackers.

The dubious police astuteness allowed them to use social networks to observe the links between some of the suspects and decide to launch the hunt. In order to define the houses to be raided and the links of the detainees, the police installed a surveillance camera around the home of one of those under investigation.

Five arrests were finally made, but one person was released shortly after, and three comrades and one comrade were brought to justice. All of them charged with the crime of “public intimidation”.

Italy: Update about the comrades arrested on March 16: Gianluca transferred to house arrest

On Wednesday, March 16, two anarchist comrades, Evelin and Gianluca, were arrested in Rome. The investigation and the repressive operation are the result of a joint work between the ROS (“Special Operational Grouping” of carabinieri) and the DIGOS (“General Investigations and Special Operations Division”, political police), coordinated by the Genoa public prosecutor’s office. The two comrades are charged with “possession of deflagrant and explosive material, attempted manufacture of improvised explosive devices, as well as possession of deflagrant material with the aim of attacking public safety”, in conspiracy with unknown persons.

On March 23, Gianluca was transferred to house arrest. Currently (March 25), Evelin remains imprisoned in the women’s Rebibbia prison.

Trentino, Italy: Repressive operation and new measures against anarchists

Yesterday, 25th February 2022, police notified three custodial measures to as many comrades – from the documents we learn that the recipients would be 4 in total. They concern one custodial measure in prison, one house arrest and two compulsory residence orders in municipalities outside Trentino (one in the Trevigiano area and the other in Trieste).

The accusations refer to events different to one another and also distant in time. The only common thread seems to be the struggle against prison. After the revolts that took place in Italian jails in response to the management of the epidemic, attention has become more stringent concerning those who mobilize outside the walls on this obviously explosive front (a local example is proceedings opened in Trento for incitement to commit crime following gatherings outside the prison of Spini di Gardolo in 2021). In the orders notified yesterday, the prosecutors (Raimondi, Ognibene, Profiti, the same as in operation Renata) talk about the intent “to impose their anti-prison ideology”.

The accusations are three:

According to prosecutors, Juan allegedly placed a device near the Tribunal of Surveillance in Trento in 2014 (article 280 bis). Juan is currently being held in the prison of Terni and is facing a trial for ‘terrorist attack’ and ‘massacre’, following devices placed near the premises of the Northern League of Treviso in 2018.

Two other comrades are accused of having aided and abetted Juan’s hiding between 2017 and 2018 (procured non-observance of an accusation, article 390), by providing him with fake identity documents and a rented place.

Another comrade is accused of attempted extorsion with the aggravating circumstance of purposes of terrorism because along with others he allegedly tried to convince the editor of Radio Ottanta to read live a communique in solidarity with the revolts and [against] the massacres which occurred in Italian jails in March 2020.

There is no charge of subversive association.

This is what the documents say in short. What we say is that the spirit of freedom will never be sedated by any police manoeuvre. That we’ll continue to fight against prison. That we want our comrades back with us. That we won’t deprive them of our closeness.

We anarchists retain an idea of freedom which is too extended and uncontrollable to be allowed to be “satisfied”. Our idea defines and – where theory flows into practice – intends to express integral and absolute freedom which scorns all kinds of compliance with power, which effectively smashes the false democratic “freedoms” being given to us, which in an eternal yearning for revolt strikes with action the persons and structures of power, disintegrating the space and time of authority.

Sometimes, especially when conscience is arid of will, the cumbersome presence of the State in all fields of existence and everyday life manages to make its courageous opponents withdraw, and in this way they begin to postpone the realization of their projects infinitively. Hostility becomes indifference. In this way, little by little, the goal becomes that of keeping on with a form of antagonism more or less adorned with radical desires. Rather than destroying the world of authority we prefer de-existential withdrawal which aims at building up our “small world”, by dedicating ourselves to ourselves, our deadlines, relations and even “self-management”, “self-determination” of milieus and situations. Spain: Solidarity with the repressed comrades, accused of burning a Bankia ATM EN/ES

On October 29th, 2018 two anarchist comrades from Madrid were arrested accused of a fire sabotage to a Bankia ATM on April 13th of the same year. They have recently received the news that their trial has been dated for April 7, 2022.

The Prosecutor’s Office together with Bankia and Mapfre (the bank’s insurer) are asking for 3 years for Damages and 17,000 euros in Civil Liability. In the police statement, the fact is related to a statement uploaded to counterinformation websites in which the action was vindicated in solidarity with Lisa, sentenced to 7 years (now in third degree) for a bank robbery in Aachen (Germany). They also say that the comrades are recognized anarchists, mentioning identifications at rallies, poster-attachments or arrests in evictions. All this rhetoric is used to justify the ideological aggravant since the comrades, being anarchists, hate the banks, and Bankia in this case would be a victim of this “ideological hatred”. Athens, Greece: Letter of Panos Kalaitzis from Korydallos Prison

On Tuesday 08/02 at 19.00 I was arrested by the anti-terrorist squad outside my comrade’s house in Ano Polis. The reason for my indictment was the arrest that same morning of Thanos Xatziagkelou and Georgia Voulgari accused of placing an incendiary device in the Foundation for National and Religious Reflection. I was taken to the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, where hours later I was informed of my arrest on felony charges and membership of the Anarchist Action organization. I remained in custody for two days in the basements of the GADTH, on Friday 11/02 I passed through the interrogator and the prosecutor where I was notified of my pre-trial detention.

Being now in the throes of a comic process that is taking place against me, I declare myself unequivocally and categorically innocent of all the charges against me. I am currently in custody without a shred of evidence linking me to any participation in the charges against me, without a single mention of my name in the statements of the anti-terrorist police in connection with the activities of the organisation. The only attempted connection is through the house I rented next to the shop I ran with my associates as well as next to my comrade’s house (where I actually lived), which I reserved as a quarantine and recovery space from covid-19.

I am making an effort to stand up to this conspiracy that has been set up to deprive me of my freedom. I am trying to keep my mind alert and clear so that I can resist this injustice that wants to strangle me. I am trying to stand up to this arbitrariness that sees my life as a pawn on an invisible chessboard.

Against those who take human relationships and use them as they want and as it suits them to compose whatever puzzle they design.
I’m going to make it.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday 8/2, armed forces of the SWAT (EKAM) and anti-terrorist squads storm a house at 12 Alkinoou Street in the Upper City (Άνω Πόλη) and arrest us. This was preceded by the arson of the IETP (Foundation for National and Religious Reflection), an action for which we have not abdicated responsibility from the first moment to the extent that each of us is responsible. With hoods on our faces and chains on our hands we were kept for 28 hours in isolation in the offices of the anti-terrorist police and then we met the first comradely glances in the courts. Chained between people with no faces, with our heads held high and smiles brimming with pride for what we are, for what they are persecuting us for.

The regime of exclusion has continued inside the detention cells of the ΓΑΔΘ (Thessaloniki Police HQ ) , where every time we have attempted to intervene in the public sphere of movement we find ourselves locked in our cells, a condition that the anti-terrorist police have tried to dress up under arbitrary orders for general detention of all. A condition that must be cut at the root, as our accounts with the hooded anti-terrorist squads are our own. War has rules and an act of revolutionary violence is part of our war. However, we must from now on highlight the entire moves of the anti-terrorist police who, when they attempt to crush people and ideas, frantically look for three people to uphold and set up the criminal case of Article 187A, which deals with the establishment of a terrorist organisation. We are taking our own firm steps at the same time as the anti-terrorist police are rushing ahead in delirious optimism. On the morning of Monday 14/2, the launch of the mandatory DNA collection began, with comrade Thanos being the first to undergo this humiliating condition. Spain: Legal developments since last public statement on Gabriel Pomba Da Silva (April 2021)

With this communiqué we want to inform about the current legal situation that continues to prevent the release of our anarchist comrade, despite the fact that 2 years have passed since his arrest (we remember illegal). It is evident the will of the executioners in robes to continue kidnapping Gabriel. With any means that their (almost) unlimited powers allow them, they abuse demonstrating their will to continue turning time into a weapon.

The sadness of the legal message (which we use in a synthetic and cold way) becomes strength knowing that our comrade is in very good health and spirits, despite this situation, and despite the discriminatory treatment he has been suffering for months after having refused the anti-Covid “vaccine” (he is not allowed to have vis-a-vis and can only receive visits by telephone). As always, he is investing his time (in his hands, as in ours, time can also become a weapon) reading books, receiving and writing letters, dedicating himself to translations and physical exercises and to freedom projects that we hope will materialize as soon as possible. The communication interception has been retroactively annulled (before last summer the Provincial Court, with a firm sentence, established the “non-dangerousness of the inmate”). In response, the prison took revenge by denying the second permit for “belonging to armed gangs” (the appeal has been dismissed with the excuse of the “remoteness of the date of compliance” -November 2030-, without going into the matter of the unjustified and false accusation of “armed gangs”… note the plural! Until this date of compliance is not modified, it is not possible to ask for another permit – the answer of the supreme court regarding the possibility of recasting to 20 years should have arrived last autumn, but the solicitor responsible for the processing of the appeal did not process it, making us lose 6 months (legal sewers of state part 1). The same court reinstated the appeal and we had to wait another 5 or 6 months at least.
