Tuesday June 16th, in Rome and elsewhere, yet more raids struck the anarchist movement, with six arrest warrants for as many comrades various others under investigation, searches all over Italy and the eviction of the occupied space in Rome, Bencivenga.

As well as that, two comrades have been arrested with the new charge of “terrorismo della parola” [terrorism of the word] (270-quinquies) for possession of a number of pamphlets found during the raid.

While the information leaked by the media is scarcer and more patchy than usual, it is quite clear that the investigations concern a number of acts of sabotage of railway lines, in particular that carried out on February 14th on the Rome-Florence line, against the Cortina war Olympics in 2026.If the media’s efforts of mystification and defamation against anarchists is certainly nothing new, we cannot avoid pondering for a moment on the level reached by the propaganda of the regime this time (in particular by the ineffable TG1[main TV news]), which is particularly grotesque: “they would meet in a farmhouse like the Mafia”, “they were planning the strategy of tension”, “they were intending to carry out violent actions”, “anarchist terrorism”… It is worth pointing out to these gentlemen that for anarchists the Mafia is as bad as Authority, and that the “strategy of tension” was carried out in this country by the State, it is not difficult to see that behind these filthy words there is a precise intention: that which led, in 2015, to transforming the National Antimafia Direction (DNA) into National Antimafia and Antiterrorism Direction (DNAA). With the result that the same absolute ‘monsterisation’ and relative treatment previously reserved for real or presumed mafiosi is now being applied to anarchists (and moreover has been inflicted on the revolutionary communists for decades).

With the aggravation, for revolutionaries, of not carrying out violence for reasons of profit or power, but as a kind of end in itself for the sheer joy of destruction or who knows what death wish. As if thousands of people had not opposed the winter Olympics for very clear reasons: the presence of the military (not in uniform for the occasion), of the Israeli team, the escort of the ICE gangs of murderers, the devastation of the Alpine environment in the name of the usual “grand event” – and as if these motivations had not been claimed, unequivocally, in the communique following the sabotage. As for the usual accusation of “terrorism”, we believe that Gaza has clarified this question sufficiently – and that there can be no more doubt about who spreads the terror.

In times of war, an old poet said, the first victim is truth.

While Alfredo Cospito remains in 41-bis like a kind of scapegoat for the “sins” of the whole anarchist movement, the State has reached the point of criminalising the very intention of doing something to stop him being tortured. While we are still recovering from the shock of the death of Sara and Sandro the State is trying to use this against us.

We don’t know if those arrested and under investigation carried out the actions they are accused of. We can only repeat what we have written many times in similar cases: if they are “innocent” they have all our solidarity, if they are “guilty” they have it even more.

On the morning of 11th May, a group of comrades raided a bank in lower Tithorea. A few hours later, eight comrades were arrested; after their initial hearings, six were remanded in custody and transferred to different prisons.

How can anyone feel human while denying the fundamental human trait of taking initiative rather than waiting to be given something? Especially when we’re talking about reclaiming what is rightfully ours. How can anyone accept the existing system when it inflicts violence upon us every day?

With the dark reality of bank seizures, with the cops who use legitimate force and fabricate trumped-up charges, the sleazy, snitchy journalists who sling mud at our comrades, and finally the rotten judicial system that sends revolutionaries to the prison cells of democracy.

In such circumstances, acts of resistance are necessary to reclaim our breath and foster a climate of insurrection. They are not criminalized.

With these thoughts in mind, we chose the evening hours of Monday, 25th May, to attack the Evelpidon courts with molotov cocktails. This incident was completely hushed up by the Athens Police Headquarters (GADA) and was not reported in any media outlet, a pattern that has been repeated with attacks on these specific courts in the past. This action was carried out with the aim of serving as a first, minimal—a basic—gesture of solidarity with the 8 anarchist comrades on trial.

In a variation on *Nil Luce Obscurius**, we might say that sometimes there is nothing brighter than darkness—which springs from the depths of our raw liberating impulses. So let us make room for instinctive spontaneity. In this era of reformist lukewarmness, “easy” words just as easily erase subversive imagination. This is something we must realize and reflect upon.

We issue a call to action in every direction, using diverse and inventive ways to fight for life. By expressing the struggle uniquely, through the individuality of the self, each of us ceases to be a daily prisoner of current events in the metropolis. By making room for their individuality, the subject also frames collective processes more fruitfully. Far from the numbing and blunting of our sharpness, let us bring our concern to the doorstep of every authority.

The deaths of Sara Ardizzone and Alessandro Mercogliano on the night of 19–20 March in Rome, following the explosion and collapse of an abandoned cottage in the Parco degli Acquedotti area, have created an open wound that is not intended to heal. For the most part, the spontaneous reaction of the anarchist movement in Italy and around the world has been dignified and coherent with the life paths of two revolutionaries who died fighting. However, a genuine moment of reflection has been lacking so far. We do not regret this, but rather believe that the extended timeframe is necessary given the nature of this event. These are inevitably long, grief-filled days, but they are also days spent coming to a concrete understanding of the facts.

We do not believe that we should take a stance of specific struggle towards this tragedy, with all the urgency, contingencies and anxiety that such a struggle imposes, in order to do something “practical”. Of course, this kind of event has also been accompanied by moments of struggle: attempts to sabotage participation in funerals using every petty stratagem; the preventive custody of 91 anarchists who were trying to lay flowers near the accident site on the morning of 29 March, the media smear campaign against the Easter Monday gathering in Valnerina to commemorate Sara. These all became moments of struggle precisely because of the attitude of the state and its servants stationed at various battlefronts (in police headquarters and newsrooms, in ministries and courts), an attitude aimed at casting a blanket of silence and moral ostracism over our comrades. Above all, consider the political justification by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the preventive custody of the 91 anarchists, the first ever application of this measure introduced from the government in the latest “Pacchetto Sicurezza” (Security Act).

Beyond these episodes of struggle, which were all the more necessary given the paramount importance of rejecting the state’s monition aimed at socially and morally isolating our two fallen comrades, we do not view the question of Sara and Sandro’s memory as subordinate to the urgent demands of a specific claim. Rather, we view it as a legacy and heritage to be preserved over the years and decades by carrying it into every specific struggle.

We believe that, a few months after this event, an initial global discussion about the facts could be organised. A discussion that would allow time for reflection on at least three major topics.

First, the technical aspect. A deadline for submitting autopsy results should be set within two months, and reports from cops and prosecutors on how they believe the events unfolded should start being filed. Saying that we have no confidence in the work of the repression professionals would be an understatement, as our attitude towards them is one of open hostility. Nevertheless, given the current circumstances, with the state holding a monopoly on science, research and physical access to the bodies and the explosion site, the findings of these unwelcome investigations assume the status of “objective” material. It will therefore be important to deconstruct this material, seeking to understand if there is something that doesn’t add up, something to denounce, something on which to base counter-information and a counter-investigation.

Secondly, we would like to initiate an ethico-political discussion about this case. A discussion that, truth be told, began immediately after the events, thanks to the many statements proudly claiming brotherhood and solidarity with Sara and Sandro, which were made in improvised assemblies just hours after news of their deaths spread and continued at demonstrations, in interventions near cemeteries and inside holding cells at Rome police headquarters. However, whether due to being overshadowed by the virtual sphere, scattered across various initiatives or, above all, the entirely natural lack of mental clarity following a tragedy that had shaken our thoughts for weeks, there was a lack of horizontal, global discussion convened with sufficient advance notice for comrades to organise their attendance and bring matured arguments.

Lastly, we would like to discuss the practical and organisational matters that need to be addressed to ensure that Sara and Sandro’s memory is kept alive in our path forward. From public demonstrations to publishing initiatives, from dedicating spaces in their names to our stance in legal proceedings where these comrades were and are our co-defendants, and any other issues that might come up during the discussion.

Athens, Greece: Claim of responsibility for the incendiary attack on Vasilis Kapernaros’ law office – Direct Action Cells

The Direct Action Cells claim responsibility for the incendiary attack on the office of far-right lawyer and failed politician Vasilis Kapernaros in the Kypseli neighborhood in the early hours of April 2. Just as we did the last time we attacked a collaborator in the crimes of Tempi (the Vozenberg residence, February 2025), so now we name the cell that carried out the attack after the armed urban guerrilla Kyriakos Xymiteris. We call upon all fighting revolutionary forces. Every comrade who devises subversive plans and puts them into action through dynamic acts, to take up the torch and honor the memory of our comrade as he deserves. To set fire to the quiet nights of the metropolis. To take the risks that are necessary so that we can show through our actions that there is no better way to remember and honour our dead than by intensifying the war against the rot of the system and its dominant culture.

The reason for our group’s attack on the office of that wretched individual known as Kapernaros is his active involvement in covering up the crime at Tempi, as he is the lawyer for Interstar Security, the company responsible for security and video surveillance of the railway network. The company that concealed for years the videos of the trains that collided that day and, along with other parties, contributed to the concealment of critical evidence regarding the crime. At this moment, the company’s legal representative and two ΟΣΕ executives are on trial for failing to hand over the videos of the freight train being loaded at the station in Thessaloniki. In this courtroom, as relatives of the victims report, Kapernaros bursts in with an escort, taunts and bullies people, culminating in a vile attack on former hunger striker Panos Routsis.

To put it more plainly, we’re dealing with a servile lackey. A few months ago, and “coincidentally” immediately after Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s interview—in which he wondered if there were any videos from the tunnels showing the freight train —the eager scoundrel appeared, donning the guise of a saviour lawyer, with three “forgotten” videos, which he even shared with an old acquaintance of ours, Aris Portosalte. He therefore chose to bear the burden of responsibility for distorting the facts and burying the truth of the Tempi crime, placing himself in the spotlight of public criticism—as such megalomaniacal figures always desire. The criticism we have consistently chosen is that of fire and revolutionary praxis.

Kapernaros, the son of a cop, grew up in post-Civil War Greece in an environment that can be summed up by the slogan “Fatherland – Religion – Family.” He, too, is just another two-bit patriot like those who donned hoods and betrayed resistance fighters to the occupiers, later fighting them in the mountains at the behest of their new masters as “bandits.” Like those who, exploiting the people’s hunger and hardships, amassed fortunes like black marketeers. All these vermin presented themselves to the post-civil war state as good Christians and patriots, while they were the greatest scum in the history of this land. Chronicles and reflections on expressions of affection for Sara and Sandro, and on the anti-Mafia movement as a tool for counter-insurgency

During the night of Thursday 19th to Friday 20th March, a loud bang shook the neighbourhoods of eastern Rome near the Parco degli Acquedotti; inside the park, an explosion caused part of an abandoned farmhouse to collapse. The explosion and the collapse killed two of our comrades, Sara and Sandro. Their unwavering consistency between idea and action led them to take risks and cross the line between life and death.

Following this tragic event, the state attempted to take possession of their bodies, with the aim of rewriting their history; of concealing the love, respect and fraternity that surrounded them; of erasing their ideas and of erasing the proof that it is possible to act against this system.
It is possible that their bodies were located and identified in the hours immediately following the explosion, but the news of their deaths was kept hidden for a long time and only released in the afternoon via the mass media, through which everyone, including their families, learned of the tragic event. The State was thus able to decide how to tell this story, how to describe the two comrades, attempting to impose its own narrative on everyone and manage the affair according to its own ends.
If one of the aims they had set themselves was to secure a dissociation from our comrades and their disavowal, this could never have happened for the simple reason that these wretched loopholes never belonged to us.
Immediately, numerous statements were issued clarifying that Sara and Sandro are our comrades, comrades who were known, respected and loved, comrades who fell in action.

At this point, the state attempted to seize their bodies, holding them for days, thereby venting a belated vengeance against those prey who had never been captured and had now escaped forever from the courts and prisons.
Their bodies were suddenly released, and the families were forced to bury them immediately. This haste was intended to make it difficult for those who wished to pay their last respects, to make the two comrades appear as isolated and abandoned individuals, and to try to prevent this farewell from becoming an occasion for public commemoration of their figures, or for the vindication of their ideas and deeds. Athens, Greece: Arson Attack on the Home of the Snitch Dean of NTUA and a Riot Police Officer

In the early hours of March 25, we attacked with an incendiary device the building where the dean of the NTUA, Panagiotis Tsanakas, as well as a riot police officer, live in the area of Zografou. Our research on the chief snitch of the academic rabble of the Polytechnic brought us in front of a simultaneously special but poetically explainable coincidence. A snitch and a cop work and live together, a touching image to say the least.

Tsanakas is not simply the tsuchiki [contemptuous address for a person we consider vile and insignificant] of Hadjigeorgiou (rector of NTUA) but as the culmination of his “academic” work he has shamelessly handed over to the police a student who was writing slogans in favor of the Palestinian people on the school grounds. However, he has a deeper and more essential role in Hadjigeorgiou’s police-held monstrosity, of a rectory that allows/imposes the daily presence and the scolding of cops on campus in full compliance and obedience to the dictates of the ND doctrine for absolute control and essentially the necrosis of student and subversive struggles on university campuses. A rectorate that we have lost count of how many times has ordered the invasion of the repressive forces on the university grounds, with a particular “sensitivity” when it comes to those in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people.

Of course, Hadjigeorgiou has an additional reason to fervently desire the presence of cops on the NTUA grounds beyond serving the government’s planning. He uses them as doormen and henchmen who guard the “shop” that he has built in future collaborations on NATO programs and Jewish arms industries. Just the day after the attack, we read that a way has been found through opaque procedures and individual opinions of legal advisors to declare unconstitutional (!) Article 2 of the Funding and Management Guide of the Special Research Funds Account (ELKE), which concerns the NTUA and explicitly states “…The history of the NTUA is connected to struggles for freedom and peace. For this reason, the NTUA is not allowed to conduct or participate in research for war purposes of any kind, with the exception of research for the country’s defense needs, and no research funded by international military coalitions is undertaken.” Let us recall that the above constitutes a conquest of the anti-war movement of the era of the bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO forces in 1999. Of course, as early as October 2023, in the midst of the genocide of the Palestinians of Gaza by the Israeli army, with the signatures of Hadjigeorgiou and Dean Panagiotis Tsanakas, a memorandum of cooperation between the NTUA and Intracom Telecom was signed. It is therefore obvious (unless you are a lobotomist) that the results of the university’s research in this collaboration are channeled to 2 subsidiaries of Intracom Telecom, Intracom Defense and Intracom Aviator, which actively cooperate with the Israeli army and its genocidal activities in the wider Middle East. In May, none of us shall die (May 2025, Thessaloniki – Snizanna Paraskevaidou, fell in an explosion during an attack on a bank)

And the story continues like this. Through the battles of our own people, simple, everyday. Like Lambros, like Kyriakos, like Snizanna, like Sandro and Sara and so many more people who lost their lives in direct action.With determination, with our own rage and memory, we took to the streets at dawn on March 10, the date that the anarchist revolutionary guerrilla Lambros Fountas fell fighting under fire from cops in Daphne 16 years ago and we attacked a cop’s house in Kaisariani with an incendiary device.

We have every reason to target the state’s scumbags who act as security guards for the bosses and the ruling elite. With this move, we want to remind them and all cops that we will not leave their activity unpunished. They are the ones who target fighters, violently attack demonstrators, torture and murder people in cop stations, at borders, as well as people from the impoverished margins and our own class. Let them remember and know that we can also locate them in their homes, in their neighbourhoods, in their jobs and that they are not really safe anywhere in making this choice to serve the system.

It is a fact that the state invests in order and security by strengthening policing at every level of central government. In this way, it prevents any resistance from below on behalf of capital as much as possible, while at the same time strengthening military-police capital through funds for security forces and armament programs. This is a phenomenon that is parallel in relation to the international geopolitical situation. As the war intensifies abroad (Middle East, Ukraine) and the Greek state participates in it through the Greek-Israeli-American alliance, NATO and the EU, so does the repression at home. Cops of all kinds are positioned to control our lives. The same applies to every field of public space from universities to neighbourhoods, squares and other natural sites (see Exarchia Square, Strefi Hill).

So, let fear change sides then. No matter how much the complicit and regime-based mass deception media cover you up by hiding our actions, we know the anxiety that these visits to your homes cause you. If you don’t pack up, we will come again. Our lives are not expendable. We want to show that you are the terrorists and dangerous to the public interest, not us who return the minimum percentage of your share of violence.

We express our solidarity with the Palestinian people who are fighting for their lives. Let us intensify the anti-war action against the war crimes occurring in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran by the Western bloc. We will not become meat for the murderers’ cannons because the local leaders, with Mitsotakis and Dendias as the first and best, rushed to ally with Netanyahu and Trump.

The choice to connect these contents through action on the day of remembrance of the anarchist guerrilla Lambros Fountas constitutes a connecting link between memory, action and continuity.

Our ability to speak and communicate does not allow us to venture down the unbeaten paths of personal accountability for the risks we take. Any discussion along these lines remains inevitably tentative and inadequate. To truly seek freedom — in its authentic and complete form, not in the counterfeit versions bestowed and imposed by the state — means entering into the realm of risk inherent in the quest itself. In this realm, our choices — often wild and solitary — carve out a path of no return. Freedom is a quality that is experienced by putting oneself at risk.

We say this without resorting to any rhetorical indulgence: the two anarchists found dead after the collapse of a farmhouse in Rome, Sara Ardizzone and Alessandro Mercogliano, are our close comrades, we are proud to have them as our comrades. The paid hacks, from whose trashy paper we learned of the incident, write about the detonation of an explosive artefact. The attempts to distance oneself, always aimed at ensuring a shameful sense of security, do not belong to us. We are used to never believe what is uttered by the propaganda machine, but if there is a glimmer of truth about the “leaked” information we cannot fail to dwell on the fundamental fact: Sara and Sandro died in action, died in the battle. Social war is not a stunt, a life style or a subculture. It is, first and foremost, a war. Sara and Sandro are a shining example of the inseparable bond between thought and deed which inspires the anarchism, revolutionaries until the very last moment of their lives, and in death. 20.3.26: Two anarchist comrades, Alessandro Mercogliano and Sara Ardizzone, died yesterday in Rome apparently due to handling and managing explosives in a cottage in the Acquedotti park area. So far there is only mainstream news with the terror lust of the security services where they speculate like ghouls on the lives on the comrades. Postulating theories which mention the usual phrases like “known to the authorities” and casually blame the circle of “Cospito’s group”. It can surely be predicted that there will be a further scavenge by the media and police in tandem at the behest of the Meloni regime, for the “friends and accomplices” of our slain comrades. Alessandro Marcogliano had previous been convicted and sentenced to five years in prison in 2016, accused of participation in the armed group FAI-FRI.
