We are some anarchist comrades who took part in the ‘Sabotiamo la guerra’1 assembly. With this writing we want to speak out on a bad episode that happened at our assembly (not the only one of this kind, but the most serious), but above all on a forma mentis and an ideology that now make such episodes systematic. If we present ourselves in such a circumscribed manner, it is because ‘Sabotiamo la guerra’ is precisely an assembly, made from time to time by those who participate in it, and we cannot speak on behalf of all its many past, present, and future participants. Youpi is one of the many servile puppets of the gang that operates under the name of Greek justice. She presided in the trial of the child rapist and member of the Mitsotakis family, Dimitris Lignadis, who was released from prison after being found guilty of raping underage children. Yioupi is relentless when confronted with the poor, handing out years of sentences with the same ease she would hand out toys at a children’s party. But she has a peculiarity, she turns into a sensitive and soulful person when confronted by people from high society, with political connections, access and financial clout.

At the home of the judge Myrsini Papachiou, at dawn on Saturday, November 5, in the Zografou area.

Papachiou occupies the highest levels of the cesspool known as civil justice. The throne that she sits on as vice president of the Supreme Court is built from the pain of shattered human lives destroyed by prison.

Our decision to target her, apart from her institutional role, is related to the fact that she is currently involved in the Novartis scandal, being a member of the special court that is currently trying state prosecutors and government officials from the former SYRIZA government, as defendants for allegedly orchestrating a conspiracy in this particular case. She is also a court tribunal member for the upcoming trial of a former SYRIZA minister in a case regarding TV licenses. In fact, in order for Papahiou to be a member of these tribunals, she was hastily promoted to the rank of deputy-president a few days before the selection of tribunal members took place. Without any desire to get involved in the shifting alliances and infighting of this rotten political establishment, we recognize that this court is acting as a white-washing machine for sections of the political elite who are involved in the Novartis scandal. An international scandal that demonstrates with surgical precision how capitalism works. Multinationals, big pharma and politicians were complicit in the criminal regulation of drug prices in the health sector. They were complicit in the dismantling of public hospitals, in the operation of an organized international state-economic mafia that exploited in the worst possible way one of the most basic services, that of health. The government’s systematic attempt to present this scandal as a frame-up goes hand in hand with its refusal to demand compensation from the company. Two years ago, after a solidarity meeting for those arrested during a march against the burning of garbage by Lafarge / AGET in Volos, the comrade Vassilis Maggos was arrested. The cops of the Magnesia Police Directorate torture him and, after covering their voracious violent appetites, throw him into the street. The blows were fatal for the comrade, who breathes his last breath on 13/7/2020. This state murder is still being covered up today by the state-judicial apparatus, as only three cops were indicted for the simple misdemeanour of “dangerous bodily harm”, while no names have been released, and now that the case is being tried, the “law and order enforcers” are committing violence against the people in solidarity who had gathered at the Volos courts.
Last summer, the deafening case of the pimping and rape of a minor girl by her father and a cop at the Ilioupolis police station came to light, with the knowledge and the brutal cover-up of the other state agents of that department. The pimps, rapists and cover-ups are still circulating among us, the case was covered up and buried, until the next and the time after that when we will learn again about trafficking and (child) rape rings involving cops and “prominent” households.
One year ago, on 22/10/2021, cops execute Nikos Sampanis in Perama, gunning him down with 36 bullets after a chase due to racial profiling, and defying orders from the operations centre not to follow the stolen vehicle. The cops claimed they were on “defense,” which of course was debunked by video footage and eyewitnesses. The follow-up is predictable. From the moment of her arrest, in June 2020, Monica has been in the public connotation module of the San Miguel Women’s Prison. This module is characterized by the direct control exercised by the gendarmerie over the prisoners, with greater and more complex security measures than in the rest of the prison.

Along with this, Monica’s derisory yard time – 1 hour a day – makes her confinement even more oppressive, as she is confined in closed spaces practically all day long.

However, there is one factor that is making life particularly difficult for our compañera inside the prison: being forced to share spaces with women who have assaulted, raped and/or murdered their children. Monica’s contact with these people is at all times and at all hours, a situation that is becoming unbearable for our compañera. It is important to point out that Monica is not relying on the investigations and accusations of the prosecutor’s office, but it is they themselves who openly assume their aberrant behaviors, normalizing aggressions and rapes of their children.

In this sense, we are clear in pointing out that this represents a strategy of Power to subdue comrades who have turned their lives to wage war against authority, as Monica has evidently done. Power knows that our revolutionary ethic clashes head-on with these despicable behaviors and those who perpetrate them, which is why it deliberately exercises this type of provocations that represent, by all means, an added punishment.

We will not accept to share common spaces with rapists, so we demand immediately the change of module of our comrade Monica Caballero.

Together with this, the change of module would also mean that our colleague would no longer be subject to an exceptional regime of control and surveillance, which would undoubtedly improve her situation inside the prison.

As anarchists, communists, we struggle daily and by all means against the degradation of labor into a commodity, of the worker into an object, against the patriarchal devaluation of femininities and LGBTQ+ subjects. We fight, in other words, against every existing capitalist productive and social relation. This struggle confronting the bourgeoisie and the state is the necessary condition for the abolition of classes and for our liberation. The movements and means we use are always judged in the necessity of the class struggle.

Necessary are the means that rally the working class and the revolutionary proletariat, that fill their hearts with irreconcilable hostility to oppression, that intensify their contempt for bourgeois legitimacy, morality and their democratic mouthpieces, and that remind us of the consciousness of our historical mission.

Thus there are social and political developments and events that mark moments in the class struggle when we must escalate the intensity of our struggle. It is at these moments that revolutionary vigilantism is the only and immediate answer to express and defend the interests of the oppressed class.

One of these crucial events is the case of the (child) rapist and New Democracy appointee Dimitris Lignadis. Dimitris Lignadis is an integral link in the chain of the Greek bourgeoisie as well as a personal friend of New Democracy executives and ministers. At the starting point of the case, government spokesman Christos Tarantilis, tried to cover up for Dimitris Lignadis by stating that he resigned for personal reasons, while Lina Mendoni concealed their personal relationship, claiming that she was deceived by Dimitris Lignadis’ ‘deep hypocrisy’. Moreover, during the hearing of the case it became apparent that, unlike other cases of government scandals, he is not just a “front man” or “scapegoat” of the government to wash the political system, but a deeply rooted and organic part of the bourgeoisie and the New Democracy. A fact that is moreover obvious both from the release from prison and from the public moral support of Dimitris Lignadis in the recent articles of Kathimerini. At the same time the anarchist political prisoner Yannis Michaelides who is on hunger strike since 23/5 demanding his release is being exterminated by the judiciary and the government of the N.S. For all these reasons we chose to express our anger against the Ministry of Culture. Thus, after the end of the demonstration in defence of Exarcheia we attacked with 8 Molotov cocktails the grounds of the ministry on Zaimi street, delivering two of their official cars to the flames.

Giannis Michailidis: Rape after the murder of the concept of justice

For Greek “justice”, a rapist of a child (D. Lignadis) has been sufficiently rehabilitated and is not a danger to society after less than 1.5 years in prison. A racially motivated murderer (Ath. Hortarias), has been sufficiently rehabilitated and is also not a danger after 2 months in prison. The murderer of 15-year-old Alexandros (Ep. Korkoneas) does not deserve life imprisonment. Another rapist (P. Filippidis), earns his freedom prematurely as he is not considered dangerous because of his celebrity. This is the “epic” of crony Greek “justice”.

However, for Greek “justice” an anarchist bank robber and escapee, after almost 9 years in prison and 7 months, after completing the required 3/5 of the sentence, “risks committing new crimes as he has not spent sufficient time in prison”.

What I understand is that robbing a bank and escaping from prison is far worse than rape or murder. Especially if the rapist is a close friend of ministers or the killers kill troublesome kids or marginalised people. After all, isn’t the role of the state to protect capital? Also, it will obviously show more vindictiveness towards someone who has actively challenged the feared institution of prison, absolutely necessary for disciplining society.

And as for bank robberies, now that we’re impoverishing you, don’t get any ideas. If you want to rape a kid, a wink to a minister will do the trick! This is the clear message of Greek “justice”.

I received it. That’s why I started a hunger strike. To expose all those arbitrary acts against me, which I list at the beginning of the text. However, from what I can see they don’t need me. They have made their own judgments. Not even for appearances.

I think they are even using the hunger strike as an example now. They’ve set my appeal hearing for 7/25. On that day I will have done 64 days’ hunger strike. The aim is clear. To exhaust me. A possible permanent disability reinforces the message they are sending. Perhaps my eventual death, which becomes more likely with each passing day. Such a perversion of the concept of justice is unthinkable. Let them enjoy their “justice”. Enjoy your careers.

As for me, who do not have access to their villas with their lavish tables paid for with bribes, I can greet this world fasting, but with the spiritual fullness of total existential conflict with their rotten system.

On Monday night 11/7 we attacked the Patras courthouse, painting the facade and breaking its windows, in solidarity with the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis who is on hunger strike since 23/5, waging a struggle against state vengeance with his own body as a weapon.

The comrade, having already served about 8.5 years in prison since December 2021, is entitled to his temporary release from prison, something that runs up against the refusals of the competent judges and councils, as in essence, he does not abandon his militant identity, course and dignity, as clearly demanded by the extortionist regime imposed on him.

It is the same justice that is now avenging the comrade but also so many other militants, so many others who are in the excluded and impoverished social strata, all this prison population that is being beaten by the repressive state boot of the law and order doctrine, the new prison and penal regulations.

In the person of the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis, the state takes revenge on all those who stand up against the violence and the rottenness of the capitalist authoritarian world, who take a stand for struggle and action. At the same time, every rapist, every fascist, every uniformed murderer, every paramilitary, every golden boy, every politician responsible for scandals and so many others who are the children, the cogs of political and economic power, enjoy either immunity or the favour of justice.

Daily femicides, countless rapes and abuses, insulting and ironic comments, questioning and bullying. On 21/01, yet another piece is added to the puzzle of the cultural rot that dominates social and political life. A 37-year-old priest child rapist is accused of systematic indecency against an 11-year-old girl who attended the catechism of the religious pack of pimps in Patisia(Area of Athens).
