On 22/10/2021 the 18 year old Roma Nikos Sampanis was shot with 36 bullets by the uniformed scum of the DIAS unit (motorcycle cops) in the area of Perama. This was preceded by the torture of Vassilis Maggos, which led to his death, followed by the rape at the Omonia Police Station, while on 22/09/2022 16-year-old Michalis was dragged and abandoned by an police vehicle in Ampelokipi in Thessaloniki, resulting in him breathing his last breath in hospital.

A little over a year after the murder of Sampanis, the 16-year-old Roma Kostas Fragoulis was murdered in Diavata, Thessaloniki on 05/06/2022 with a bullet in the head by a cop of the DIAS unit as he committed the crime of not paying for twenty euros worth of petrol.

On 11/11/2023 shortly before midnight after a chase, the cops once again murdered a Roma minor, 17-year-old Christos Michalopoulos. Two and a half months before, Kostas Manioudakis has left his last breath due to a beating by cops of the Souda police station during a random check. One month after the murder of Michalopoulos, a cop beats and abandons 19-year-old Ayse in the city of Xanthi, killing her.

To these incidents we could add countless beatings, torture, murders, all carried out by the police and silenced by the judiciary and the media.

In the few cases when police violence cannot be hidden, the mouthpieces of the state apparatus are quick to present the obvious as an isolated incident, that it was a bad moment or that the cops were in self-defense or that justice will be decided at a later stage.

It is worth mentioning that they try to throw tons of mud at the murdered person. Whether it is the criminal record, the social group to which they belong, or their political beliefs are emphasised over and over again, implying, where they do not say it outright, that it is a good thing the cop’s hand pulled the trigger. The presentation of the cop-killer is diametrically opposed. A family man with children, hard working for the safety of the citizens, with a social contribution, particularly beloved by the rest of the gang (“Hellenic Police”).

The media narrative changes the times when social revolt erupts and targets the perpetrators of so many murders. Suddenly the value of human life has become the ultimate good and the justly targeted uniformed killers become heroes wounded in the line of duty and unfairly targeted. Those who experience state and capitalist violence in their own skin and at times respond combatively to it are portrayed as brutal criminals with murderous intent.

To the apologists of the police: you and those who settle for the fairy tale you are selling are ridiculous low lives without a shred of dignity and morality.

To put it clearly and succinctly there is no room for doubt, the Greek police operate as a gang of armed potential murderers with complete impunity.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the incendiary attack at the EFKA Zografou

We take responsibility for the attack with an incendiary device with gas canisters at the EFKA building in Zografou which resulted in damage to a state vehicle of EFKA as well as to the building.

We would like to start by emphasizing that we do not intend this text to speak more than our action. An attack on the state, on an institution we think speaks for itself. Let these few words be a necessary companion and political defence of the flame of our attack.

We have chosen this target as it is a state institution created by the former Minister of Labour Hatzidakis and now under the authority of this ministry, and responsible for pensions, insurances and labour insurance. In other words, everything that constitutes modern capitalist Christianity. To put it more simply. I have worked for 40 years hoping for a pension to ”live my life” as it comes, and if, and with as much money as the government of the day decides. We even know that this particular body has deliberately delayed the payment of thousands of pensions. But we are not here to beg the state to give the pensions to the ‘poor people’ who have made sure that they have re-elected their oppressors forcefully. We are here to remind the state that any attack on the lower economic strata will involve an attack on it.

The people have spoken at the polls and even as anarchists let us accept that. The majority wants democracy and oppression. But let us be proud of this minority that continues to deny power and attack its institutions. Revolutions and uprisings have come from both powerful majorities and fiery minorities. COURAGE. The struggle continues and will end only in the ashes of the power complex and only with our victory.

The action took place on the day of the victory of the hunger strike of comrade Giannis Michailidis and during the period of 2 political trials, the 4 comrades in custody accused of the attack on the traffic police of Piraeus and the 2 comrades and 1 comrade accused of participation in the Anarchist Action organization. We send our solidarity and wishes for a speedy recovery to comrade G.M. and all the imprisoned comrades and we wish them a speedy return to the paths of freedom. We do not forget the prisoners of war and always keep a special place for them in our burning hearts.

Volos, Greece: Responsibility claim for an attack on ATMs, cops and OPKE in memory of Vassilis Maggos

In the early hours of Saturday morning, we headed to the Eurobank bank at the junction of El.Venizelos and Iasonos streets, where 2 ATM machines were broken and then an attack was carried out on a police car and a vehicle of the OPKE, who arrived at the scene, by throwing empty bottles and stones. The above actions were taken as an act of vigilante action. We have no illusions, nor do we expect any vindication from the judicial organs of the state apparatus in the upcoming trial of the cops-torturers of Vassilis Maggos. It is time for fear to change sides. With this act we call for a generalization of the confrontational actions of the anti-authoritarian space in memory of Vassilis. We carve our confrontational path alone against rulers and their cover-up.

As Direct Action Cells we take responsibility for the incendiary attack on the home owned by the child rapist, pimp and member of the New Democracy party Elias Michos, and his ex-wife Elizabeth Lekka. In the early morning of 23/10, we placed a low-powered incendiary/explosive device at the entrance of their apartment building in the Attica area.

For those who still insist on not understanding the systemic support and cover-up of police and fascist attacks, for those who still insist that the judiciary is neutral and independent of the domestic bourgeois elite and the whole mechanism of consolidating and monopolizing the violence it practices, for those who were not satisfied with the acquittal of the pimp and child rapist of the New Democracy, Nikos Georgiadis, the “special-friendly treatment” of the mafia boss Menios Fourthiotis, but also the full release on parole of the New Democracy’s Petros Lefkowitz for the serial rapes of his daughter since she was 11 years old, we would like to list only a few of the recent cases where the full complicity of the civil justice system with the scum who destroyed lives was proven. All this is already known, we are simply quoting it in a condensed form to make it absolutely visible that STATE AND CAPITAL VICTORY, VIOLATE AND KILL, that their very nature is exploitation, barbarism, devaluation of lives and the imposition of terror, and that every aspect of political and social life is class and value-determined. It is a SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING TERROR, VIOLENCE AND DEATH, with the corresponding mechanisms of communication management and laundering.

Two years ago, after a solidarity meeting for those arrested during a march against the burning of garbage by Lafarge / AGET in Volos, the comrade Vassilis Maggos was arrested. The cops of the Magnesia Police Directorate torture him and, after covering their voracious violent appetites, throw him into the street. The blows were fatal for the comrade, who breathes his last breath on 13/7/2020. This state murder is still being covered up today by the state-judicial apparatus, as only three cops were indicted for the simple misdemeanour of “dangerous bodily harm”, while no names have been released, and now that the case is being tried, the “law and order enforcers” are committing violence against the people in solidarity who had gathered at the Volos courts.
Last summer, the deafening case of the pimping and rape of a minor girl by her father and a cop at the Ilioupolis police station came to light, with the knowledge and the brutal cover-up of the other state agents of that department. The pimps, rapists and cover-ups are still circulating among us, the case was covered up and buried, until the next and the time after that when we will learn again about trafficking and (child) rape rings involving cops and “prominent” households.
One year ago, on 22/10/2021, cops execute Nikos Sampanis in Perama, gunning him down with 36 bullets after a chase due to racial profiling, and defying orders from the operations centre not to follow the stolen vehicle. The cops claimed they were on “defense,” which of course was debunked by video footage and eyewitnesses. The follow-up is predictable. Immediately all seven were acquitted, returned to work as normal and are walking among us. Watching the domestic news of the last few months, one will see that despite the social reactions that have developed, the isolation and suppression of the antagonistic movement as well as the imposition of unprecedented social control measures remains a key objective of the Greek state. The gentrification of Exarcheia includes the construction of a metro station in the square, the redevelopment-privatisation of the Strefi Hill and the blocking of access to the Polytechnic and aims to uproot the revolutionary tradition of the area. Similarly, the installation of MAT platoons and all kinds of cops inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims to sterilize the university premises from any voice of opposition to the bosses. But beyond hitting the movements, the hiring of thousands of new cops, the millions given to equip the police and their constant presence in the public arena on every occasion set the tone of the new social contract. And all this at a time when society is being impoverished anew, with precision pushing those from below to the limits of survival. In a nutshell as Petsas arrogantly informed us adaptation (to capitalist and state dictates) or death.

The effort by the current government to restructure the education system and especially the universities begins the very next day after its election with the abolition of the university asylum. Their pretext was to crack down on lawlessness and instil a sense of security. This was followed by the passing of Law 4777 in the midst of quarantine to avoid major social reactions. The response to those that were manifested was a display of fierceness and brutality. Just a few examples:

the pulling of a gun by a cop at the ΑΣΣΟΕ (Athens School of Economics)
the two evacuations of the occupied rectorate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the space of one month in 2021
the evacuation of the steki at the Biologcko
the hundreds of injuries, beatings and arrests in the last two years in student mobilizations
the firing of asphyxiant inside the ΣΘΕ (School of Sciences) in broad daylight with hundreds of students and workers trapped inside the building and suffocating
the hitting and severely injuring of a student with a flashbang grenade fired at point-blank range
the murderous attack on the crowd attending Thanasis Papakostantinou’s concert during the 3rd Libertarian Festival of Occupied Spaces and Collectives, which almost resulted in people being trampled.

Berlin, Germany: Arson attack on a vehicle of the Greek Embassy

Attentively we have followed how the Greek state crushes demonstrations in the streets of Athens. The government of Nea Dimokratia and its judiciary have proven that in the hunger strikes of D. Koufontinas and G. Michailidis, they are ready to let prisoners die rather than give in one step. We know the videos of the lynching with the participation of police officers of Zak Kostopoulos. As well as the execution of N. Sampanis in Perama by DIAS is an expression of a ruthless regime, as is the murder of Vassilis Maggos in Volos. Blood drips from the hands of the Greek authorities.

The new junta thinks it is smart to take advantage of the August vacation period to begin construction of the metro station in Exarcheia. Their goal is to destroy every social base and occupy every place of resistance with troops. The evictions of squats in Thessaloniki and the police invasion of the university there have not escaped us either.

Everywhere the Greek state encounters resistance from parts of society. We want to support this resistance in order to bring down the project of ND. The system of ND, its judiciary and its cops, is the state of rapists. The release of rapists and the simultaneous attack on a feminist demonstration in July in Athens, symbolizes the values of Mitsotakis’ government.

People’s lives in the big cities have become so empty. People have ended up dragging their carcasses through a daily suffering and a constant despair just to take a picture of a utility bill at the end of the day and post it on social media with digital cries of futility about a world that leads nowhere and a reality that is unbearable for them in the capitalist machine. People’s eyes have been trained to remain glued to the screens with their brain functions losing touch with their emotions, anger, hatred for the degradation of this rotten world, pain for their neighbor, history, memory, nature. People have been trained to watch the world in a digital reality that runs at ever greater speeds and end up being inert beings in this digital consumption without shaping events. And we, among others, somewhere in the margins of Existence of today, humbly trying to keep the flame alive from the eyes of the people we have lost by our side.

In this way we have honored our dead: We carried the incendiary device for our attack on Real as if we were carrying the remains of the dead of the social war. Two years exactly after the death-state murder of Vassilis Maggos we did this action and the spirit of Vassilis was inside us smiling at us.

At dawn on 13/07 we left an incendiary device of small power on the ground floor of the building outside the door of the Real News – Real Fm snitches. After the external destruction of the door, a fire broke out in the upper part of the building through the duct resulting in the total destruction of the premises of Real News and Real Fm, as well as a shipping company located in the same building. Our action was planned in such a way that no human (or non-human) life such as a passerby, resident, animal or worker/employee would be endangered, as it was, even though Mitsotakis and his mouthpieces would wish for the opposite. We therefore recommend that people keep calm and not eat the lies of the state narrative of events raw because as we will explain below, we live in a reality of lies. For any inconvenience to the working sound engineer of the building due to the murderous negligence of her bosses in not making adequate provision for easy egress of the building, we will seek a public apology from her exclusively, saying in retrospect publicly and humbly that our purpose was to make a symbolic attack. After all we knew the specifications of our action and that it would not put an innocent person at risk in a concrete building in front of Kifissias Avenue in Maroussi. And we reiterate that this is a fact already. It is not a theoretical scenario or an intuition in the realm of probability. It is funny the dimensions and magnitude of the lie given around this issue in the mainstream media, indicative that Greece is one of the countries that are hitting rock bottom in terms of freedom of the press since everything is directed as updates from the government’s mouthpiece. Anyway, we are one of those parts of the working class that is fighting its own struggles alongside many other workers and in no way would we want to harm a sound engineer, but only cause material damage to the building at material cost to their bosses. The crocodile tears of the New Democracy fascists for the worker have provoked our above anger with their crude hypocrisy. I wonder if they ever felt any pain for the many employer murders that have occurred recently such as the electrician Christos Zorbas in the HPEIROS industry or the murder of the COSCO dock worker? Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy… that is all that characterises the vulgarity of those in power. And to clarify the landscape, to answer that if we wanted to kill as presented by the “4th power” i.e. the executive organs of the lie of the state, which are the journalists, we would come one morning with a crowd of workers inside the offices and leave the device. But because we simply did not and do not have such a purpose to endanger ignorant people, obviously for all the reasons in the world we did not choose to do so. Athens, Greece: Taking responsibility for the attack on the Acropolis police station

On Saturday 27 November we attacked the Acropolis police station with molotov cocktails. At the time of the attack the guard cop and 4 undercover cops sitting in front of the police station, at the sound of the cry “murderers” scampered and hid in the building while we set fire to the guard post and the entrance of the police station.

We haven’t said the last word yet, these are Alexi’s days.

It is not remembrance, or melancholy nostalgia. It is the very idea of rebellion against our oppressors and exploiters. It is the fiery flame of yesterday that drives the gestures of resistance of today.

It is not a desire for repetition, but the very reality of exploitation, death politics, totalitarian control, segregation and total state management of the pandemic.

It is the intensity of oppression, of the suffocating present that arms us with the will, the desire, the strength to attack the state apparatus. It is the December 2008 uprising that fills us with the faith that the situation can and must change, that those from below can come back to the forefront by claiming their own lives.

The murder of comrade Alexandros Grigoropoulos on December 6, 2008 by the cops Korkoneas and Saraliotis sparked an uprising in the whole of Greece. RESPONSIBILITY CLAIM FOR THE ATTACK ON THE AGET FACTORY

ACTION REPLACES TEARS

Much was said, even more was concealed and little was done. On July 14, 2020, our eyes tear up at the news of the death of comrade Vassilis Maggos, tears that will become rage, rage that thirsts for revenge. Evamer, as he was known and remains in our hearts, was a rare blend of selfless fighter and rebellious youth. A friend – a comrade in every sense of the word, who, with a permanent smile on his face, was always willing to help his neighbour, to discuss and above all to ACT against the state’s power and social subordination. A person who more than once had faced the arbitrariness of power and the bullies of the cops as he struggled with his demons from a young age, growing up in the streets of denial and questioning. Much can be said and perhaps has already been said about comrade Vassilis, but little has been done. We pledge that this condition will change. His beating and subsequent torture by the garbage of the police after the demonstration on June 13, 2020, may not be directly responsible for his death, but everyone can understand the magnitude of the mental burden that was inflicted on him and led to his death. His indirect state murder was a predestined repressive move against the movement forces of Volos, of which Vassilis was a part, and which have been under an ill-conceived and crude industry of persecution for 13 years. It was a direct continuation of the repressive pogrom of those days, with beatings, chemicals, home invasions, filing cases against demonstrators and state terrorism. Moreover, his targeting was constant and continued after his death, with the cops taunting him with forensic procedures, not returning his cell phone to his family and charging him posthumously at the same time that the results of the fake investigation (and the names of his torturers) were kept secret. We have no illusion that justice will be done through the very institutions responsible for perpetuating social and class injustice. We know that the lengthy and covert judicial procedures are intended to cover up and launder the cops, as is the case in all cases of state arbitrariness. But what we can say is that nothing will go unanswered. We respect his family’s choice to take legal action, but for us this is not enough. It is everyone’s bet, therefore, to seek justice for Vassilis’ death and the events of last summer. It is a matter of putting a brake on police arbitrariness, and this cannot be done with comments on Facebook. Those who choose to take our comrade in their mouths would be well advised to turn their words into actions, those who shout about him in the marches should already be planning revenge actions, those who call him out by doing nothing just have a corpse in their mouths, and that is disgraceful, they had better shut up. Let each and every one of them take responsibility! That’s what he wanted and that’s what he did. Just like when he alone went and smashed the offices of the Neo-Nazis of Golden Dawn. The rest is just empty talk to justify their political non-existence and their superficial (if not hobbyist) involvement in the anti-authoritarian struggle. The road to a future world without power, exploitation and oppression is not flowered with rose petals and Vassilis Maggos will always remind us of this!
