Chile: Text from subversive prisoner Marcelo Villarroel for Black August

Posted on 2025/09/09 - 2025/09/09 by darknights

One year after the departure of Tortuga and Belén. Words from subversive comrade Marcelo Villarroel

The daily struggle and resistance against imprisonment in centers of extermination and isolation would not be possible without the fertile bond of insurrectionary complicity between different comrades in different parts of reality.

In high-security and maximum-security cells, in the furtive mountains, in cities and metropolises riddled with techno-surveillance, on the paths of the struggle to live free… there is always one of us, one who does not adapt or surrender to the vicissitudes of domination, and that is where we find Tortuga, on that path of subversive antagonism, and Belén, walking freely through Anarchy.

We walk with our dead, our prisoners, and our fugitives. This is not a slogan but pure reality. We walk with our lights and shadows that feed the eternal fire of our rebellion. We walk with a firm step, seeking change by first changing ourselves, even if it costs us.

We walk without lowering our arms and we resist, we persist, and nothing stops us, not even the death that inevitably embraces us on this long road.

A fraternal and complicit embrace to all those whom nothing and no one can stop. To those who organize, to the imprisoned comrades who wrote, and to all those who resist with dignity in prisons and cages.

One year after the departure of Tortuga and Belén, we will continue to sow chaos and anarchy!
With all our fallen brothers and sisters and comrades!
Subversive anarchist prisoners and Mapuche prisoners out of jail now!
Until we destroy the last bastion of prison society!
As long as there is misery, there will be rebellion!

$hile: Communique by Mapuche Political Prisoners in Temuco Prison on Raids, Beatings and Transfers

Posted on 2025/04/07 - 2025/04/07 by darknights

In the face of raids, brutal beatings and unjustified transfers, Mapuche Political Prisoners in the Temuco prison charge that these events are part of a broader strategy that seeks to dismantle the existing community modules in Chilean prisons.

“PUBLIC STATEMENT BY MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS, CCP TEMUCO COMMUNITY MODULE
The Mapuche political prisoners held in the Temuco prison salute our traditional authorities, Pu Lonko, Pu Werken and Pu Machi, as well as the communities in resistance, and declare the following:
On Monday, March 31, at approximately 10:30 a.m., we were violently raided in the first instance by officials of this penal facility, who were later reinforced by personnel of the U.S.E.P.
As a result of this act, innumerable damages were caused, such as the destruction of furniture, the theft of sporting goods, the arbitrary and excessive use of tear gas, and various physical and verbal aggressions (verbatim words of Lieutenant Martínez and Sergeant Ramírez: “Indios Culiaos, Indios Perkines”).
The most affected peñi was Rodrigo Cáseres Salamanca, who underwent surgery on his right arm less than six months ago and is still in the process of rehabilitation. However, this was not an impediment for the Gendarmerie officials, who continued with the beating without any consideration.
Despite their state of health, the Peñi Rodrigo Cáseres Salamanca, Patricio Queipul and Anthu Llanca were transferred to three different prisons: Angol, Valdivia and Concepción. Where they were sent to maximum security modules, without the right to TV or radio, with a regime of 22 hours of solitary confinement, and 2 hours of courtyard.
It should be noted that the latter two were recently acquitted of a set-up orchestrated by the Gendarmerie of the Angol prison.
We see with this as a first conclusion that the orchestrators of the raid were: the recently transferred Lieutenant Hernández from the concessioned prison of Concepción, who on Monday, March 31, occupied the position of deputy warden, the operational chief of the OSI Mijail Morales, the non-commissioned officer Martínez and Sergeant Ramírez, directed and protected by Néstor Flores, regional director of the gendarmerie.
It is evident that what happened is part of a provocative maneuver directed against the Mapuche political prisoners, and we know that this is only one piece of a broader strategy that seeks to dismantle the existing modules of community members in the Chilean prisons located in our Wallmapu.
This intention is clearly demonstrated by the modifications in the internal regime that will be implemented arbitrarily, without prior notice and under the direction of Lieutenant Hernández. Added to this is the daily harassment to which we are subjected, which is manifested through sanctions that are not officially recorded, which rather respond to racist attributions on the part of Gendarmerie officials.
This strategy is also supported by the entire political class, which acts at the service of business interests, the gendarmerie is nothing more than a puppet institution of political interests and the business community.
We demand that our status as Mapuche political prisoners be respected, as well as our culture, social practices and worldview. Ratified by ILO Convention 169.
From the political prisoners module of the Temuco prison, we call for solidarity with the peñi transferred to the prisons of Angol, Valdivia and Concepción.
In addition, we urge to be alert to the repressive and offensive maneuvers directed against the Mapuche political prisoners modules and the eventual mobilizations that may arise.
Immediate transfers of Rodrigo Caseres Salamanca, Patricio Queipul Millanao and Anthu Llanca Quidel to the CCP Temuko community module.
Freedom for All Mapuche Political Prisoners.
For unity in the Weichan

$hile: Update on anarchist comrades Aldo and Lucas Hernández

Posted on 2025/03/22 by darknights

It has been more than two years since December 22, 2022, the day of several raids orchestrated by the South Metropolitan High Complexity Prosecutor’s Office, where six homes were raided, five of them in the Metropolitan Region and one in the Valparaiso Region, all searched by police groups OS9, GOPE and LABOCAR, resulting in six detainees, four of whom were remanded in custody. Two correspond to the brothers and comrades Aldo and Lucas Hernandez, in the course of the months the comrades will remain under investigation for the explosive attack on the National Directorate of Gendarmerie of Chile, Aldo is indicated as the alleged bomber of the device, he is also charged with crimes under the Law of Arms Control, as well as Lucas charged with various offenses under the Law of Arms and Explosives Control.

Months later, the comrades were asked for a re-formalization hearing, adding for both of them the case of manufacture of weapons and manufacture of explosive devices for various items found in the home raided in Pedro Aguirre Cerda.

In this process we have seen how the prosecution through trickery and dirty games have tried to harm and intimidate this environment with jail, seeking information and even informations in order to complete the investigation and to prove what the prosecution accuses, having a negative result to the harassment, since all the detainees after the raids have remained dignified and integrated to the mediocre attempts of the Prosecutor Claudio Orellana, demonstrating in practice complicity and loyalty to the principles of anti-authoritarian comradeship.

In the course of the months the comrades have lived diverse and different prison realities, since from the beginning the comrades have been separated trying to break their family ties without having contact and sharing the same physical space for more than two
years.

At this moment the comrades are waiting for the oral trial preparation hearing, which has already been postponed twice due to different legal situations.
While waiting for the trial, which has taken more than two years, the comrades are still unable to meet due to security issues, violating their rights to preserve the family ties that unite them.

In that trial they risk exemplary sentences, for comrade Aldo the prosecution requests a sentence of 90 years and for Lucas a sentence of 26 years, we point out that exemplary since this excessive amount of years only seeks to intimidate the environment and those who decide to return blow after blow without turning the cheek or waiting for illusory and idealized opportune moments to go after our enemies. The comrades remain intact and with the impetus intact to continue contributing to strengthen the anarchic walk outside and inside the prisons, clinging fiercely to their ideas and their values, contributing to various comrades who have been deprived of freedom like them, making their ideas a real threat to the range of harmful behaviors inside the prison and practicing prison solidarity, continuing to position themselves against the prison and their jailers inside their own homes (prisons).

The power continues to strike, reprisals are part of the daily life of our brothers. The last event was the transfer of Aldo to the maximum security module 2 in the prison of “La Gonzalina”, on December 24 last year, changing his prison regime. He is currently under a schedule of 21 hours of confinement and 3 hours of yard time, this added to restrictions such as the prohibition of electronic devices (TV, kettle and radios). This transfer was the result of a raid carried out in module 12 (module in which Aldo had been for two years) on December 18, in which the personal information of the 16 gendarmerie officers injured on the day of the attack to the national directorate on December 27 2021 was found inside Aldo’s cell. This information was contained in the respective investigative files of the case, which is why the high command of La Gonzalina decided to isolate him.

The practice of violence continues more than ever, and it is blood to pump the hearts of our brothers in prison. Each accurate action, propagandistic gesture reveals the vulnerability of a predatory system that is sustained by a false security that is nothing more than a breakable mask and within reach of our hands full of conviction and courage.

Actions such as attacks with weapons-bombs to institutions-police-apparatuses that protect the interests of power and the rich are just a sample of that, that the fear is felt by those who imprison us, that the bullets have names and surnames, that our energies are capable of creating what our imagination once thought, that every idea overflows in the minds of those who see that the violent struggle is possible.

Fire and death to the spectator, the scavenger, the martyr and the vulture.

Freedom for the convinced, certain and courageous who go against domination!

Anarchists, subversives and Mapuche prisoners to the streets!

Let’s dare to create the forbidden!

Make ideas a real threat!

Aldo and Lucas Hernandez to the streets!

February, 2025.

Chile: Interview with synthesis anarchists Boina Anarquista

Interview between synthesis anarchists Boina Anarquista in Chile and JURNAL ANARKI in Indonesia.

1. What motivates you to create this counter-information newspaper?

A: Hello, good day. Well, the platform began as a newspaper, edited precariously with Word. What motivated us was that nearly 11 years ago, in 2013, when the waves of the student movement in Chile were still present, we started researching and came across a book about anarchist propaganda in Chile. We were amazed by how much of it existed in the 1920s.

Around that time, there were other physical-format newspapers: El Surco (2009-2013), El Amanecer (from Chillán, in central-southern Chile) (2011-2013), El Sol Ácrata (from Calama, northern Chile; 2011-2024), Acracia (from Valdivia, far south of Chile; 2012-2019) and Solidaridad, a Libertarian-Communist newspaper, aligned with the branch closest to especifismo or platformism (2010-2016).

It was within this context that we decided to found a newspaper called Periódico La Boina (2014), which only released 7 issues. Financial problems, time constraints, and lack of coordination led to its discontinuation, but we noticed that the website’s visits kept growing, reaching over 100,000 per year.

The need to communicate, reflect, critique, share, and discuss with other comrades enriches our ideas and fosters camaraderie, especially through printed propaganda. What I see as a downside—and something we are also guilty of—is that there’s a lot of digital propaganda circulating on social media. While it’s positive to have more contact with comrades from other places, the information becomes more instantaneous, preventing deeper reflection. It also introduces anxiety over likes, making everything faster.

We believe it’s necessary to return to printed propaganda without neglecting the digital. It’s essential to discuss and reflect as the anarchists of the past used to do.

2. In our informal conversation, you mentioned your involvement in a historical archive project. Could you tell us more about it?

A: Yes, I am currently part of a group called Archivo Histórico La Revuelta, which has existed since 2009. The mission of the archive is to preserve the memory of anarchist history. Archivo La Revuelta publishes a magazine called Acontratiempo, where we present research by comrades on the history of anarchism in Chile and elsewhere.

The issue is that, according to some historians, anarchism arrived in Chile in the 1890s and lasted until 1930, when the last mass anarchist unions existed (of course, there were experiences in the 1950s and 1960s, and we have found active comrades in the 1970s, but they are marginal compared to Marxist groups). After that period, anarchism experienced a revival, gradually growing with counterculture and punk in the 1990s. So the archive has the mission of preserving anarchist memory in this region, both from the 20th century and from the late 1990s and early 2000s. There are many struggles led by younger comrades, as young as 16 years old, who may not be as familiar with the struggles fought in the early 2000s, for example.

That’s why the archive doesn’t just focus on the history of anarchism from 100 years ago but also on the present. We aim to collect and reconstruct the history of anarchism from the 1990s, when there were many zines and the first newspapers, to understand what interested comrades of those years and to share those struggles and discussions with younger comrades so they can learn about the efforts and ideas of those who came before them.

On the other hand, anarchist research has emerged in recent years. Its main historians might include Eduardo Godoy, Manuel Lagos, or study groups like the Grupo de Estudio José Domingo Gómez Rojas, which has the Editorial Eleuterio.

Currently, the archive operates in a physical space called Casa Anarquista La Termita, which is shared with other anarchist projects. Also, with comrades dedicated to research, we are also organizing the IV Congress on Research about Anarchism(s) – Santiago – October 2025. The first Congress was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2016); its second edition was in Montevideo, Uruguay (2019), and São Paulo, Brazil (2022).

Chile: Interview with the band La Lira Libertaria

Chile: Interview with the band La Lira Libertaria

Interview between the band La Lira Libertaria in Chile and JURNAL ANARKI in Indonesia.

1. What motivates you in creating this band? The song “Armate” feels like a homage to the memory of insurrectionary Mauricio Morales, how do you elaborate your music and band with anarchist revolt?

The band was formed to show political solidarity and fill the spaces that we frequented around 2009 and a little before: squat houses and social centers mainly. At first the Lira was a paper piece of popular poetry that we printed that year and that rescues the tradition of the popular poets of the late 19th century and early 20th century, but with anarchist content. The formation as a musical band began later around 2010 in the context of the “Bombs Case” and sought to contribute to the spaces that were hit. The song Ármate is undoubtedly a tribute to the comrade Mauricio Morales Duarte who fell in action on May 22, 2009. The lyrics are an adaptation of one of his poems, and the girl who sings it with us was his partner, which is little known. We wrote it for the second commemoration of his death, and we presented it at the now defunct “Cueto con Andes” social center, where Punky Mauri himself visited and contributed to. Some time later, comrade Luisa Toledo would make her words even more well-known: beautifully violent. Sometimes people confuse this and think that they are words from our dear grandmother Luisa, but she took them because it was her favorite song by the band. That way, the songs and its stories are directly related to our recent political processes, and to the revolt and resistance against the neoliberal model in Chile.

2. From our informal discussion in the past you hinted that most of you come from the specific tendency of combative anarchy, can you tell us more about this?

Yes, we all met at the time we were studying, around 2006 onwards, and we were part of the riots and street-based struggles, like so many young people in Santiago. That is why we lived through the processes of the student rebellions of those years and the protests for the release of political prisoners, environmental projects, the denunciation of capitalist democracy and the anarchist movement.

The insurrectional anarchist movement was constantly attacking the system in that decade and even later, when the band was already formed. That’s what our songs are about, that’s why in them there are stories of attack, escape, prison and joyful rebellion too. The band grew up with this marginal discourse, and with the October 2019 revolt it achieved greater notoriety, since it had been talking about the contradictions of the capitalist model for a long time.

3. People from non-latin speaking countries are amazed by the growing anarchist tension in Chile, especially the diverse anarchic movement, the regeneration of the youth, and the especially heavy repression that the anarchists faced amidst all of this yet still retain their combative and insurrectionary action – what’s really making all of this possible?

As I see it, the commitment to the struggle is explained since it is part of generations and generations of combatants, since the times of dictatorship (1973-1990) and even before. It is linked to our families, to our disappeared detainees, and to the indigenous culture itself, which tells us that the Mapuche tirelessly resisted the Spanish.

In that political environment we grow. This is even stronger considering that democracy stained its hands with the blood of the fighters against the dictatorship, and imprisoned those who continued fighting against capitalism. Figures like Claudia López, murdered in the commemoration of the coup d’état in 1998, and so many other Chilean and Mapuche young people, this fueled since childhood our desire to fight, our desire for freedom and our love for our compañeros.

Perhaps that is the most important component, and what explains everything: the love of the struggle and the memory of the comrades who fell fighting and those who still fight to this day. That is why anarchists, despite being beaten time and time again, maintain their action, because it is also a way of carrying within us our beloved compañeros who were taken from us. 15 years after your death in action. MAURICIO MORALES YOU LIVE IN THE FIRE.

“On my back lying on the floor of the street, with the frozen cement, I see my fall pass close by and I see myself lying on this very spot… with my heart beating in a hurry and the rain washing hard the blood from my surroundings”

Mauricio Morales

“We keep our dead in our hearts. We carry them with us in wild moments when the anarchist attack disturbs the order of this world. Anarchy has neither victims nor heroes.”

Conspiracy Cells of Fire

On May 27, 2024 at a few hours before midnight we stormed a public transport bus. With a clear objective, to break the monotony of the city’s rhythm and illuminate the cold night of May in memory of the anarchist comrade Mauricio Morales.

15 years ago… on May 22, 2009 around 1:30 am, a roar shook the silent and cold night of the Matta neighborhood. The wit that transported in the direction of the damned school of gendarmerie of Chile had detonated in advance, the Punky Mauri as he was known in the anarchist environments, died at the instant of the detonation melting with the device that had been arranged to place in that nefarious institution.

Today we remember you with action. That bomb in which you met your death resounds in every complicit gesture that attempts against domination.

We want to contribute to the call for a Black May, an anti-prison May, an anarchist May. It is still time to generate and strengthen offensive complicities, to keep alive the anarchic action. To keep alive the memory of those who went on the offensive, to be an embrace in solidarity with those who are in the dungeons of capital, to contribute in some way to break its precious social peace.

More than a year after their arrest, we embrace the anarchist comrades Aldo and Lucas Hernandez, this also goes for you.

We call for action and to make visible the prison situation and the attempt to bury through isolation the Anarchist comrade Francisco Solar.

Concepcion, Chile: Propaganda action in support of Anarchist and Mapuche prisoners

Posted on 2024/04/30 by darknights

By: Anonymous/ Sent to La Zarzamora

“In the early hours of this morning, April 26th, we carried out a propaganda action in support of our comrades kidnapped in the jails of the Chilean state. We vindicate each one of their struggles against this system of death that only seeks exploitation in pursuit of its economic interests, destroyers of land and life.

We call for solidarity and action in the face of this punitivist scenario that imprisons those who struggle. In addition to the above, we call to be present in a concrete way with the families in struggle in the different land seizures of the Chilean territory.

Down with the anti-takeover law !!!!

Freedom to Francisco Solar and Mónica Caballero

Chile: Territorial action of the Matías Catrileo Propaganda Group, January 2024.

Posted on 2024/01/22 by darknights

On January 6, in the town of Las Araucarias/Los Copihues, as Matías Catrileo propaganda group, we carried out a territorial occupation, deploying ourselves in the town that was 54 years old since its creation under the name of Toma Unidad Popular, where we handed out pamphlets, zines and information that emphasize the importance of direct action and territorial self-organization as valid and necessary means to recover our lives, as Matías taught us.

There are many examples throughout history that show us how to do, from autonomy and direct action, that generate other ways of inhabiting this world in the here and now. The land seizures are one of the most effective ways to directly solve a problem as big as access to housing, also enhancing the revolutionary struggle, generating fertile spaces for carrying out revolutionary processes.

Since colonization, the territory was divided into large estates, estates and states, where neither the poor, nor the Indian, nor the mestizo, had a part in this division, often forcing us to sell our labor force for miserable wages to these same masters who through deception and violence became owners of the land.

What the law says does not really matter, slavery was legal, the embezzlements of the police, milicos and politicians are legal and continue in complete impunity, destruction of the land is legal, the destruction of the Maipo river, the Panul forest is legal and the usurpations and appropriations of the rich are legal, demonstrating that the law is only their system of defense and robbery to maintain their interests and those of their class.

We propose self-organization as the only possible way to recover our lives, through direct action as did our grandfathers and grandmothers who knew how to raise an entire population by sheer will and mutual support, as does the puñi/lamgen in Wallmapu who have managed to push back the advance of capital on their lands, as do the peoples of the continent who resist the advance of this system of misery and death.

It is necessary to look back and reuse the tactics that in the past allowed not only to provide housing solutions, but also gave way to generate land and fertile spaces to carry out the conflict against power and carry out revolutionary processes aimed at the destruction of the state-capital.

Accomplices of the wind and living only to be free, simply free, immensely free.

The expansion of the anarchist urban guerrilla is imminent!
Long live territorial recuperation!
Towards territorial and autonomous organization, without leaders or parties!
For the freedom of the Maipo River and the Panul forest!
For the life that was stolen from us!
In Wallmapu and the city war to the State and Capital!

During January 3, in different parts of the territory controlled by the State of Chile, barricades were erected and confrontations took place in a new commemoration (No. 16) of comrade Matías Catrileo, who in the context of territorial recovery and vindication, was assassinated in the former Santa Margarita estate by Lance Corporal Walter Ramírez Inostroza.

$hile: “Words from the confinement, necessary letters” by Marcelo Villarroel

Posted on 2024/01/06 by darknights

On December 16, 2009 I was expelled from Argentina after 21 months of confinement in different units of the province of Neuquén to be at the disposal of the Chilean state and it has been 14 years since then.

In 2014 I was sentenced to 14 years for two bank robberies. Strictly speaking, I am serving this sentence in its entirety, from beginning to end, without any benefit and it ends today December 16, 2023 and still the state keeps me behind bars.

According to the gendarmes, I must serve 12 more years of imprisonment to be able to apply for some intrapenitentiary benefit only in 2036. According to their retroactive modifications of the illegal Chilean law, in 2056 I will definitively expire my sentences, all of them from events that occurred more than 30 years ago.

A madness of numbers and years typical of Pinochet’s military justice shamefully in force and still today endorsed by recent rulings of the Court of Appeals of Rancagua, of Santiago, of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court of this amnesiac country governed today by the Communist Party, the Broad Front and all the progressive and social-democratic scum always at the service of the interests of the great god of capital.

In this context, a few days ago, Mónica and Francisco, anarchist comrades of action who received the full revenge of the state, were condemned by the capital’s democratic inquisition, particularly Francisco to whom the domination imposed 86 years, becoming today the revolutionary prisoner in the Chilean prisons with the highest sentence and whom we must know how to accompany from the daily practice without pauses since the road will evidently be longer. Always from the complicit affinity and never from the victimization!

On the other hand, in the occupied wallmapu, in the same week, the racist Chilean justice declares Peñi Luis Tranamil Nahuel, who these days is about to receive a hefty sentence, as well as Peñi Nelson Queupil, who faces an imminent sentence, both walking the path of the weichan, are in Chilean prisons, fists raised, living the onslaught of the state offensive of occupation.
