Kassel, Germany: Never fit for combat! Fire at Bundeswehr vehicle depot

It’s war, and Germany is getting ready. Military, political, and economic associations have been gripped by a mania for military preparedness, and everyone is expected to go along with it. “Operation Deustchland” is supposed to make the country fit for war in five years, and camouflage is flourishing everywhere: Rheinmetall, KNDS, and others are snapping up one location after another, the civil clause is crumbling at universities, VW’s management is thinking out loud about getting into the arms business, hospitals and supply structures are being made ready for war, and the Bundeswehr is promoting service to Germany with glossy image campaigns in schools, social media, and billboards. Investment in armaments is becoming a principle of sustainability. Parallel to material and ideological rearmament, there is an authoritarian shift internally, as can be seen in the repression of Palestine solidarity or the anti-militarist movement. The turning point is also in full swing.

Even Friedrich Merz knows that capitalism is in a serious global crisis, and Germany’s “export world champion” model is also suffering as a result: “It was primarily the Americans who secured peace and our freedom, while we concentrated on the economy – and it ran brilliantly. Global markets, cheap intermediate products mainly from China, low-cost energy mainly from Russia, refinement in Germany and then out into the world – that was the German business model. All of that is now being called into question.”

So tough times are ahead, dear citizens. But if German capital wants to continue exploiting the world, making the rich richer and finally producing strong, capable men again, then we have to go through with it. And we have to do it together. This mindset is not one that is only fermenting in the depths of Blackrock’s brains. From all sides, the cry echoes through the republic: Prepare for war if you want to keep your prosperity and freedom. For the struggle for power in the 21st century is far from decided; it is entering a new phase.

The fact that we now have to prepare for World War III here at home brings home the reality of the world. For all the years that we were able to tell ourselves fairy tales of peace and prosperity, cannons were thundering elsewhere. War has been killing for years wherever there is still something to be gained: in Iraq, Yemen, Gaza, destroying societies in Mexico, Kurdistan, Brazil, and raping in Ukraine, Congo, and the Sahara.

But those who bet only on war are incapable of true peace. The fight against war is a fight against capitalism, which needs every crisis to generate new profits, just as it is a fight against patriarchy, which for millennia has drummed into us that there will always be rulers and ruled in this world. There is no place for humanity, community, and dignity in this logic. This will never be our war. It is a war of the rulers, dripping with destructive masculinity, delusions of grandeur, and exploitation. Neither Trump, Putin, Xi Jinping, nor Netanyahu are fighting for human values in this war.

We will not allow ourselves to be distracted by their games. A good life can only be achieved when people across national borders fight for a world that is not up for sale and in which human lives are not cheaply exploited. What we need is a peace movement that fights and lives up to its name. We need a whole flood of initiatives, networks, actions, and resistance to counter the impending conflagration. Our action is part of this, and we welcome everyone who comes together, organizes, resists, and seeks solutions.

Never alone, always together, always international! Yes, war and fascism are already at our doorstep, but together with all our fighting friends around the world, this can be our turning point. Because Lieutenant General Bodemann is right about one thing when he says: “The most important thing is that, in the end, every single citizen will matter in this war.” Mr. Bodemann, we agree on that.

So: Do what really matters!

Thessaloniki, Greece: Bomb attack against the chief prison guard of Diavata Prison

A powerful explosion from an explosive device shook the Analipsis area of Thessaloniki in the early hours of Saturday July 26th, causing extensive material damage. The explosion occurred at 2:10 a.m. at the entrance of an apartment building on 19 Makedononachon Street. The powerful shock wave, which according to residents was heard more than a kilometer away.

The president of the Panhellenic Federation of Prison Officers and chief guard of Diavata Prison lives in the apartment building, a fact that has raised alarm bells among the authorities. The cops are focusing their investigation on the possibility that the bomb attack was linked to his position, that it was directed as venegance against him, with possible ‘terrorist’ or ‘mafia’ motivations. In the past there used to be a police guard at this location, but it had been withdrawn.

Raids were conducted by the armed cops of the anti-terrorst EKAM at Diavata prison in response to the attack, but as of yet no links to who commited the attack have been found outside or inside the prison.

Athens, Greece: Claim of Responsibility for Arson of Cop’s Vehicle

At dawn on 25/7 we carried out an arson attack on a private cop’s motorcycle in the area of Elliniko. As a result, it suffered significant damage and was forced to repair it. This move was not accidental as we chose to attack a uniformed garbage at a time when the state is increasingly strengthening the security forces with more funds in equipment and human resources, as well as privileges for them. This is done in an attempt by the state to shield internal social peace against resistance, against those who struggle, against the internal enemy, against the anarchist space. So it uses the cops as protectors of the politically and economically powerful, securing their interests. In the same strategy, it militarizes repression and control, tightens the laws and the penal code. At the same time, it displaces those who are left over and sterilizes the city center and public spaces (parks, squares, universities, etc.), evacuates squats and takes more security forces to protect goods, tourism, construction, and in general the gentrification and investment plans at the expense of the poor and persecuted.

With this move we want to remind in every direction that for us no cop can sleep peacefully and everyone has a responsibility from the moment they consciously decide to support the state and sovereignty with their work.

Patras, Greece: Solidarity actions for anarchist comrade Andreas Floros

A few days before Andreas’ apology, we carried out acts of sabotage and wrote slogans on several banks and ATMs in the city of Patras, as a minimal symbolic gesture of solidarity with him.

Andreas was accused of forming and joining the “terrorist” organization “Conspiracy Vengance” and since April 26, he has been held in pretrial detention at the Amfissa prison. On May 16, his trial began at the Lukareos Court of Appeals in Athens, where the court decided to acquit him, thus ending his detention, as he is now outside the prison walls.

As an anarchist, Andreas is targeted by the authorities because of his long-standing and ongoing participation in social and class struggles in the city of Patras. He has chosen to stand against every oppressor and alongside every oppressed person, against every authority that dominates our lives, and to fight for a free world.

The conspiracy built by the Patras state security and the anti-terrorist service, and ratified by the prosecutor and investigator, with well-known tactics such as upgrading charges, anonymous phone calls, the use of conversations with imprisoned detainees to create profiles and criminalize friendly and comradely relationships, reveals at its core the central and timeless policy of the state to attack and suppress anyone who struggles. For this reason, we recognize the prosecution and attack on our comrade as a targeted attack on the entire anarchist and anti-authoritarian movement.

Obviously, the media played an important role in the prosecution of Andreas, as they took care from the outset to reproduce the police press releases and comment on them, deliberately adding characterizations and false information to the detriment of our comrade. In this way, they created an image of Andreas as a “hardened criminal,” distorting his political identity, while at the same time reinforcing the fear that already exists in society and glorifying the role and work of the police. All of the above contribute to his early social condemnation.

Finally, for this symbolic act of solidarity, we chose as our target one of the foundations of capitalism, power, and oppression. Because banks and capital, together with states, contribute to the complete destruction of the world in order to maintain the capitalist system, which alienates, crushes, destroys, and takes away everything we have to survive. It is time to take it all back.

Athens, Greece: Bomb containing 5 sticks of dynamite found outside home of media scum journalist Giannis Pretenteris

An explosive device found in the garden of the one-storey home of well known scum journalist personality Giannis Pretenteris, in the suburb of Neo Psychiko, northern Athens. The device consisted of five dynamite sticks and a timer and it was wrapped in a plastic bag. It is assumed that the perpetrators threw the device over the wall, possibly during the night, but for unknown reasons it did not go off. There was no warning and so far no claim.

Giannis Pretenteris is a typical ‘talking head’ journalist of the newspaper ‘To Vima’ and appears mostly on the disgusting spectacle that is MEGA TV news channel as a contributor to discussions of political content. He is no friend of anarchists speaking out against them, slandering them constantly as terrorists and has done his upmost to defend Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ New Democracy right wing governement. The reason he’s a scumbag has been explained in a previous attack by Direct Action Cells.

As expected, once again, the police-DAEB in collaboration with the corrupt judges did what they know best to do, to “cook”, to direct, to set up the trials and to get the result they want. Thus, with great audacity, the prosecutor Pappas Spyridon, within an hour, without any substantial arguments and a clear picture, “bagged” most of the accused, assigning to five of them the charge of 187A, that of terrorist organization. A specific name often used by the state and the judiciary to suppress their enemies. In other words, those who chose to oppose social cannibalism, those who chose not to be slaves of the bosses, those who do not accept the few to rule the many, for a life of freedom. Freedom is a basic foundation of life, it is in the nature of human beings, let alone prisoners, to seek it. Thus, on Thursday 10/7, in the Loukareos courts, some of the accused chose the path to freedom, even at the risk of their own lives. Despite the protection measures of the state apparatus and without any scruples about the consequences of this decision, they clashed with the cops, managing to wrest the weapon from one and immobilize a second. However, in their attempt to free the remaining accused, the cops regrouped and the escape attempt ended. They may not have won their freedom this time, but they managed to humiliate the entire security system with its armed cops, sending a strong message of solidarity and the realization that with risk and will, anything can happen. This attack is intended as a contribution to the protests against National Veterans Day next Sunday – fire and flame instead of glory and honor for militarism, soldiering and fatherland!

Tiny giants at the intersection of technology and war

The web of capitalist domination is tightening ever tighter around us. Technological progress is the engine that drives the destructive mega-machine and allows it to penetrate ever further into the most intimate areas of our existence. Inanimate objects made of plastic and metal, which, equipped with sensors, microphones, lenses, microchips etc., are increasingly becoming prostheses for social interaction, replacing genuine, empathetic relationships and causing our cognitive abilities to atrophy. At the same time, we are being tracked at every turn by social media, voice assistants, artificial intelligence, “smart” devices, facial recognition and many other surveillance tools, whereby everything we do is being increasingly incorporated into the capitalist value chain. Big data becomes big money. The implementation of such technologies in our everyday lives shapes our existence and the algorithmic calculations derived from them increasingly decide and determine our future. Once we have become accustomed to them, these mechanisms have such an all-encompassing effect that it is almost inconceivable for most people today to escape their digital grasp. For many, even the thought of it triggers anxiety. What remains is an army of slaves to the machine, dependent, controlled, externally determined and not even aware of this relationship.

However, this is only one side of the technological attack. Technology can and should not only manipulate our thoughts and actions, it should also kill. Almost all relevant technologies can be traced back to military research and development in order to gain advantages on the battlefield. Not only against hostile nations, but also in the social war against the exploited, superfluous and precarious of the population. From nuclear power to the internet, from cybernetics to artificial intelligence – our everyday lives are permeated by things that have a military logic at their core. In extreme cases, this can mean that apps that playfully accompany us through the day today feed and train the same machines on the basis of which an AI-controlled drone will determine and destroy its target tomorrow. A practice that is sometimes used by the Israeli military in particular through AI programs such as “Lavender” in their unleashed campaign of destruction against the Palestinian population of Gaza and with the friendly support of their Western accomplices. What seems like an episode from a dystopian science fiction movie is the gruesome reality of technological “achievements”, which are summarized under the term “dual-use” and are inherent in most technologies. Companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Siemens, Telekom and Tesla are just some of the best-known players operating at the interface between civil and military applications. Companies that produce highly specialized key technologies such as microchips/semiconductors, without which none of the modern technical devices would work, are far less well known.
