Anarchic and subversive words from Chilean prisons

Posted on 2021/12/20 - 2021/12/20 by darknights

Faced with the rearrangement of domination and its capitalist perpetuation: Neither boots, nor votes, only struggle!

It seems that, according to what the citizenry proclaims, we are witnesses of a key moment in the history of this territory; that we have cornered ourselves with our backs to a precipice to which, unless we do something, our fall will be imminent; it seems that we are witnessing an open war, fierce, between two political poles at odds at such a level that, like a cold war, endangers the subsistence and future of all beings in the territory dominated by the Chilean State.

On one side the war cry is: “Communism or Freedom”, and on the other: “Democracy or Fascism”. In the face of such a dramatic scenario, we are presented with the key tool to confront this context, capable of stopping this bloodbath once and for all: participation in the electoral processes, in which suffrage will be the liberating weapon.

We are neither blind nor deaf, we walk with full awareness of this and many other events in the territory, we not only distance ourselves, but we declare war on any institutional instance that seeks any perpetuation of the Status Quo.

We are completely unaware of the false confrontation of two supposedly different systems, the axis on which the battle is fought continues and will continue to be that of Democracy and the administration of Capital; the existence of a “struggle” of different policies only attempts to justify the supposed breadth of the democracy-capital system, the “diverse” essence of this and the supposed space for all types of thought; in no way do we want to be accepted by a system or a society that we reject, we do not want our politics to be one more among the options of this system; we want to destroy all options and the structure that sustains them. We have nothing to do with the electoral show and its staging of elections, plebiscites, votes and so on, we consider that this is nothing more than the tightening of the pin, the bourgeois rearrangement of the class for the maintenance of an imposed and existing order in disguise and according to the times. Greece: International Campaign for Revolutionary Anarchism and Solidarity with Revolutionary Prisoners

International Campaign for Revolutionary Anarchism and Solidarity with Revolutionary Prisoners

With the capitalist destruction of earth and life continuing unhindered and the nearing prospects of an ecological collapse, there is, perhaps more than ever, a serious and immediate need for global revolutionary movements. Where do our movements here in Europe stand faced with the immense challenges and demands of our epoch? Can we retrace our revolutionary roots? Can we become the creative force that can effectively abolish the cannibalistic authority of the rich few over the many?

Outside of Europe, the revolutionary spirit has reaffirmed its historical strength with armed and organized insurrections in Chiapas and the Middle East paving the way for the liberation of life through the self-organization of the people on the bottom, on terms of equality and communitarianism. But also all around the world in recent decades we see that combative resistance and insurrections are breaking out as a result of the increasing violence and totalitarianism of capitalism.

Let’s draw our inspiration from the Black resistance movement in the U.S. and the uprising in Chile. These were popular people-led movements using militant and insurrectionist strategies to directly confront the oppressors and their armed thugs (the police). Daily images of barricades, burning banks and attacks against cops flooding global news are the reminder that the world of those in power is easily set ablaze when the rage of the oppressed finds a collective expression.

Bristol, UK: A letter from prison by Toby Shone

Posted on 2021/12/20 - 2021/12/20 by darknights

Act for free received by email 18.12.21

———————

I didn’t know I was Harry Houdini

26/11/2021

Today I was taken from the cells of G-wing, Bristol prison to the City Hospital under a security escort. This was to detect any reoccurrence of cancer in my abdomen and pelvis. In the reception area of the prison, I had the usual strip search, and I was forced to change out of my own clothes into prison-issue clothes.

This offended my dignity as even when I was being held in Wandsworth prison in London under “antiterrorist” conditions I could at least go to the hospital in my own clothes. Whilst I was waiting for the screws to finish the paperwork, I got a glance of my cover sheet at my file – “escape list” marked in red. I was shackled to a screw with an escort and another two and I was driven by four screws in an unmarked van to the radiology unit. Along the way and back, of course, I was a witness to the pathetic, belittling ,racist, misogynistic “chats” of the screws who consider themselves experts of all aspects of life. At the radiology unit there were discussions between the medical staff and screws with some referral to their superiors, as, without any foresight on the screws part, they hadn’t realised that I couldn’t be shackled inside the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machine. Despite the MIR machine being within a sealed room with a single door, I was forced to wear a pair of plastic zip tight cuffs which were tightened so tight they cut into my wrists.

Due to my loud protests and demands for them to be removed, the screws cut them off with difficulty and pain and placed a second pair almost no less tight on my hands. I was then bound like so inside the MRI in considerable pain and discomfort and in no point in time did the medical staff ask if I was ok or raise any issue of me being treated like this while being told to “be calm” by the screw who had put these cuffs on me and who had remained inside the procedure room. If you have ever been inside an MRI you will know that you are already confined inside an impossibly narrow tiny tube wrapped up in sensitive equipment whilst a torus of magnets whirls around you at deafening volume.

Hardly an easy place to escape from at the best of times. To add an insult to this injury the MRI technician gave the “panic button” which is a kind of pad the patient squeezes to indicate that there is an emergency, not to me who was undergoing the test, but to the disgusting screw who had remained into the room to observe me. One of the screws waited outside the room and one other, for unknown reasons, was asked by the technician to attend INSIDE the adjacent imaging room where the scans were being processed and the technician acted. This final fact is the most angering since these screws are not even medical staff nor technicians but merely
lock and unlock doors, shout and abuse the imprisoned every day. I am not writing this as a “victim of oppression” nor to “establish my
rights”. I write this to denounce the situation and to explain to others what to expect and especially for all the other prisoners who confront cancer.

It is this civilization that makes us all sick. Strength to all those
prisoners who have dreams of freedom in their hearts!

Italy: Update on Maddalena Calore

Posted on 2021/12/17 by darknights

Today we received news of the anarchist comrade Maddalena Calore. Last week, Madda, who was finishing a prison sentence in house arrest, was incarcerated, accused of escape: she would have returned late after some leave of absence.

It is recalled that Madda was arrested in March 2017, in Cagliari, for an accumulation of sentences of 4 years and 3 months, due to different convictions.

The address to write to her:

MARCHA AL CIE DE ALUCHE 30 DE DICIEMBRE EUGENIA DE MONTIJO ES/EN

Posted on 2021/12/14 - 2021/12/14 by darknights

Chile: Words of comrades Juan Aliste and Joaquín García for the solidarity activity in Villa Olimpica

Posted on 2021/12/07 - 2021/12/07 by darknights

From one of the thousands of prisons of the prison society, we extend an accomplice, fraternal and loving embrace to the organizers and attendees of this activity. Our political and personal positions distance us hundreds of kilometers away from any hint of begging, we believe that begging is nothing more than victimhood and welfare logics; we break with those pitiful ideas.

We are accompanied by the substance according to our free lives where the core is the present that touches us, the present that we intend, stress and fight, going through in this autonomous and multiform struggle the complicit and natural sense of solidarity … Whenever we have had any concrete need, we or our support networks, we have done it claiming our position from a combative stance, with the unwavering work of our affinity and our own effort. It would be impossible to maintain dynamics in this way if solidarity were not a basic principle in our constructions and affinities; here the contribution is reciprocal, being one of the starting points to unite us in a praxis with a joint look in the real, autonomous and diverse deployment in the continuous struggle. We appreciate every gesture and consistent participation in pursuit of solidarity.
Greetings full of affection and solidarity.

Greece: Update on the appeal court of anarchist Vangelis Stathopoulos, set for 9 February 2022

Posted on 2021/11/21 - 2021/11/25 by darknights

19 years in prison without evidence

In April, 2021 the anarchist Vangelis Stathopoulos was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Appeal to 19 years in prison. Our comrade has been in custody since November 2019, in the first repressive operation of New Democracy – after coming to power – regarding the imprisonment of militants through trumped up charges and blatant plots.

Vangelis Stathopoulos, when asked, provided first aid to an injured comrade. The court of appeal, presided over by Maria Giannakopoulou – the same judge who had convicted Tasos Theofilou in the first instance – sentenced him to 19 years in prison for participation in the “Revolutionary Self-Defence” organisation and for theft in an ΟΠΑΠ store (the biggest  Gambling company in Greece).

Based on what data? On the basis of the same evidence with which many militants have been imprisoned over the past years: the well-known “anonymous phone calls” of the anti-terrorist police, the anti-scientific “dna samples” of the anti-terrorist police and the “testimonies” dictated by the police. It is significant that during his arrest, the commander of the Anti-Terrorist Service, Lefteris Hardalias, told him: “We know you have nothing to do with the robbery at OΠΑΠ, but you will find the icing on the cake tomorrow.” The cherry on the cake was the police’s methodical claim that Vangelis Stathopoulos was involved in the ‘Revolutionary Self-Defense’ organization.

In a court of law, in which 3 witnesses testified they were with Vangelis in the centre of Athens at the time of the theft at the OPAP store in Cholargos. In a court, in which even the prosecution witnesses themselves testified that they did not identify Vangelis in any of the organisation’s attacks, nor in the theft. In a court, in which a biologist/technical consultant testified that this particular dna sample could be anyone’s. In the same court, our comrade was sentenced to 19 years.

Chile: Against the obstacles of the prison guards – Solidarity, agitation and action for the life and health of comrade Francisco Solar!

Posted on 2021/11/04 - 2021/11/04 by darknights

On September 22, 2021, the anarchist comrade Francisco Solar was hospitalized inside the La Gonzalina prison in Rancagua after being diagnosed with diabetes and found to be on the verge of a coma. Today the comrade is returned to module 2 of maximum security and since then medical staff/prison guards, through negligent and insufficient treatment have tried to stabilize him.

Immediately, both Francisco and part of the solidarity environment from the outside, we began to make arrangements for the entry of a private doctor, to perform a series of tests, modification of the diet and move towards a treatment as autonomous as possible by Francisco, without depending on the mood swings of the jailers who must provide him with insulin.

As expected, the prison guards have given no response or facilities for the entry of a private doctor or the delivery of the medical record of the comrade.

The call is to generate pressure for the entry of a private doctor and the lifting of any obstacle for proper treatment. Therefore we call on all those who feel the urgency of the comrade’s life and health to mobilize and agitate to unblock this situation of prohibitions and obstacles to the comrade’s care.

Letters, militancy, agitation, visits to embassies and all initiatives that each comrade, group or collective deems pertinent within the mutuality. Everything is useful to succeed in bending the infinite prohibitions in the prison world.

Solidarity, agitation and action for the life and health of comrade Francisco Solar!

Chile: On the events that took place in Rancagua’s company prison last Thursday to subversive and anarchist prisoners

Posted on 2021/11/04 - 2021/11/04 by darknights

On Thursday, October 21, at noon, in the high security module 1 of the company prison in Rancagua, there was a violent attack by the jailers -more than 50- with the aim of raiding all the prisoners -less than 20- who were in the yard at that time, It is in this context that, faced with the arrogance of the prison guards, the comrades who are currently in that module and a no lesser number of social prisoners, face up to the orders coming from the executioners and refuse them in order to safeguard their unshakable dignity. Perhaps it is necessary to explain here that the general way in which the prison guard operates is to seek to break the will of the individual, ordering prisoners to perform degrading actions such as putting their hands behind their backs, facing the wall or doing squats, all forms of submission constantly rejected by the subversive and anarchist comrades in prison, since they understand that performing this type of actions, in addition to the submission and indignity of the moment, is transformed into a vortex of submission in which the only logical culmination is the complete degradation of the individual; there is no manual that accounts for this analysis, it is the own conscience and the ability to learn from the mistakes of each of our comrades that has led them to choose this path. It is also logical that this type of response on the part of our comrades leaves a bitter taste in the jailers that often culminates in violence… This was one of those cases, after the comrades refused to carry out these actions, the jailers took a step forward and verbally and physically confronted them, which resulted in comrades Juan Flores and Joaquín García being punished for 24 hours in isolation cells, under the arbitrary accusation of “active resistance” and affecting their conduct (an important point to apply for rights such as parole or Sunday release), not without first being beaten and pepper sprayed, in addition to receiving Nazi and patriotic bravado in support of the ultra-right-wing Kast as the only president who would allow the killing of subversives in prison.

It is not part of their policy to play the role of victims, in this confrontation our comrades have not been beaten, they have resisted the humiliating orders of the prison guards, but that does not make them either victims or victimizers, they carry out their daily life in prison with pride, they know they are anarchists and subversives, they do not need the approval of anyone, because they live and practice it in their daily lives. The fact that they are the ones who have received the blows does not mean that this will always be their destiny, they have demonstrated it and will continue to do so; it is the dynamics of the conflict itself.
