Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the incendiary attack at the EFKA Zografou

We take responsibility for the attack with an incendiary device with gas canisters at the EFKA building in Zografou which resulted in damage to a state vehicle of EFKA as well as to the building.

We would like to start by emphasizing that we do not intend this text to speak more than our action. An attack on the state, on an institution we think speaks for itself. Let these few words be a necessary companion and political defence of the flame of our attack.

We have chosen this target as it is a state institution created by the former Minister of Labour Hatzidakis and now under the authority of this ministry, and responsible for pensions, insurances and labour insurance. In other words, everything that constitutes modern capitalist Christianity. To put it more simply. I have worked for 40 years hoping for a pension to ”live my life” as it comes, and if, and with as much money as the government of the day decides. We even know that this particular body has deliberately delayed the payment of thousands of pensions. But we are not here to beg the state to give the pensions to the ‘poor people’ who have made sure that they have re-elected their oppressors forcefully. We are here to remind the state that any attack on the lower economic strata will involve an attack on it.

The people have spoken at the polls and even as anarchists let us accept that. The majority wants democracy and oppression. But let us be proud of this minority that continues to deny power and attack its institutions. Revolutions and uprisings have come from both powerful majorities and fiery minorities. COURAGE. The struggle continues and will end only in the ashes of the power complex and only with our victory.

The action took place on the day of the victory of the hunger strike of comrade Giannis Michailidis and during the period of 2 political trials, the 4 comrades in custody accused of the attack on the traffic police of Piraeus and the 2 comrades and 1 comrade accused of participation in the Anarchist Action organization. We send our solidarity and wishes for a speedy recovery to comrade G.M. and all the imprisoned comrades and we wish them a speedy return to the paths of freedom. We do not forget the prisoners of war and always keep a special place for them in our burning hearts.

VICTORY IN THE HUNGER STRIKE OF GIANNIS MICHAILIDIS

Once again dystopia is dangerously close to us. The state is constantly inventing new ways to undermine more and more our living conditions. Labour rights are now a thing of the past as partial employment contracts, the daily dismissal of trade unionists, often fatal work accidents, wage cuts, and the repayment or non-payment of bonuses under extortionate conditions are the status quo. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly shamelessly obvious how expendable our lives are to the state apparatus. The 57 murders in Tempe, the daily deportations and repatriations of migrant women on equally murderous terms, and the more ‘indirect’ method of the state’s death policy by raising the prices of everyday products, electricity and gas, as well as rents. Of course, even if you have to pay for all this, no one can guarantee that the next day you will still have a house to live in, since there is no longer any protection of the first home and the cops and prosecutors may appear one day in your living room and literally throw you out on the street within a few hours with all the things you have managed to collect.

To enable this condition to be established, a lot of money was spent on hiring cops from every service and buying official vehicles, placing them in ‘key’ places like squares, universities, hills and playgrounds. Apart from their physical presence, the state is more present than ever before through the installation of cameras on every corner, illegally or legally placed, and through the microphones and cameras on our mobile phones. No longer is the ‘big brother’ a fictional character from a novel, but the terrifying everyday life in which we live and grow up, where social control is brutal and universal.

The context of modern totalitarianism could not fail to include the further “upgrading” of the prison system and prisons. The state and those in power, known for their fetishism in punishing and torturing anyone who opposes them, are constantly reinforcing the dungeons of democracy, aiming at the complete annihilation of the imprisoned militants. Thus, in the winter of 2022, in a more comprehensive attempt to fortify the state against the social upheaval that prevailed, the new penal code is passed. According to it, type C prisons were reintroduced under the name of ”maximum security prisons”, disciplinary procedures were tightened, the conditions for granting leave and for the temporary dismissal of those prosecuted under 187A or accused of robbery and drug offences were changed, thus discrediting the position of political prisoners. It also introduces a ban on the transfer of certain categories of prisoners to rural prisons. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the attack on the head of the Prison Control Inspectorate by Direct Action Cells – ‘Cell Katerina Goulioni’

The Direct Action Cells take responsibility for the attack with a low-powered incendiary/explosive device at the home of the head of the Inspection and Control Corps of the Detention Facilities and Deputy Prosecutor of Appeals Spyridoulas Presveias at 13 Solomou Street in the area of Glyfada, in the early hours of 1/4.

We are sending a clear message to prison prosecutors, prison wardens, prison officers, wardens, directors, social workers who choose to treat prisoners as second-class citizens. Who choose to play dirty political games on their backs. Who become agents of the Ministry of Civil Protection in order to advance themselves and their careers. Gather round because you will find us in front of you. The prosecutor we targeted is at the top of the institution responsible for the internal control of prisons and is directly responsible for all the injustices suffered by prisoners, especially after the passage of the new penal and new prison code.

Spyridoulas Presvias as the head of the Prison Inspection and Control Corps (ΣΕΕΚΚ) is the person whose responsibilities concern the most authoritarian parts of the anti-crime policy. He was appointed by the (former) secretary general of anti-crime policy Sophia Nikolaou, a failed New Democracy politician and declared enemy of prisoners, who a few years ago did everything in her power to murder the communist revolutionary Dimitris Koufontinas. In recent years, and after her appointment as its head, the ΣΕΕΚΚ, in addition to conducting investigations and files within the prison, has been upgraded to a body that can take legislative and administrative initiatives to further repress prisoners within the prison. This agency and the upgrading of its repressive tools is part of the broader planning of the New Democracy government for prisons as reflected in the new penal code and the new penitentiary code and a number of other repressive moves they call anti-crime policy. The state may talk about a “war on crime”, but in reality the policies that follow these declarations do not reduce crime, nor do they work to promote the cohesion of society. On the contrary, these policies are the intensification of the war through the systematic class, social and political exclusion declared by the ruling classes against the social base. And the prisons constitute the ultimate point, the absolute domination of this exclusion over the bodies of those who end up in the concrete tombs of bourgeois democracy. HE WHO HURTS BY WAR, BY WAR … EARNS!

This increasingly pervasive and intrusive society is now entirely illuminated by the beacon of science, and it treads, step by step, the path indicated by it.
This light is not only nefarious but is leading us toward a point of no return, toward a deadly precipice.
Although this is well known, it is also pointedly reiterated by scientists and members of the political class themselves.
In a speech a few months ago, the former minister of ecological transition, Cingolani, said that every “breakthrough” procures more problems than it solves, but that nonetheless it is progress and therefore we must move forward.
This “moving forward” translates into the “green” model.
Everything is or must become green: green economy, green nuclear power plants, green technology to which the digital revolution belongs.
It is yet another transformation of society, no longer political as at the time of the French Revolution, nor economic as in the various restructurings of the capitalist model, but techno-scientific.
The various sectors of the capitalist economy either adapt or disappear, and politics supinely carries out the various impositions dictated by science.
The current transformation has certainly taken advantage of three major opportunities that have come its way: climate change, covid-19 and the war in Ukraine.

– Climate change, in the public eye, has led millions of people to demonstrate and thus bring attention to our society’s environmental impact on the planet.
Since very few are actually inclined to radically change their lifestyles, but want to enjoy all the comforts they are accustomed to, their protests are already a blunt weapon from the start. The power system has found in this a nice proposal to renew itself by initiating the so-called “ecological transition,” which consists of a major restructuring of the way of producing energy (renewable sources) and consumer products that are more “sustainable,” that is, with less environmental impact, thus killing three birds with one stone.

THE FIRST political: thus dampening the protests and making it clear that the voice of the governed is close to the hearts of the rulers; one never knows that these, despite the reigning social peace, if unheeded will not seriously disturb the sleep of the masters.

THE SECOND economic: a profit opportunity for companies that can launch new products on the market and by appearing “friendly” to the environment, attract to themselves a slice of new consumers and consequently new earnings.

THE THIRD scientific: the chance to experiment, research in hitherto untrodden fields and further increase their influence on living things.

– The covid-19 has given a strong impetus to medical science, which by appealing to fear and a desire for a return to “normality” has in fact imposed compulsory vaccination without, moreover, waiting for the necessary testing time of a serum before it can be “safe”; a testing on billions of individuals.
Not only to medical science but also to technical applications to monitor and card all those people refractory to the vaccine. The various green passes and permits to be able to travel or work could not be effective without widespread control of individuals, control made possible by the increasingly new and invasive technological apparatuses. Watching the domestic news of the last few months, one will see that despite the social reactions that have developed, the isolation and suppression of the antagonistic movement as well as the imposition of unprecedented social control measures remains a key objective of the Greek state. The gentrification of Exarcheia includes the construction of a metro station in the square, the redevelopment-privatisation of the Strefi Hill and the blocking of access to the Polytechnic and aims to uproot the revolutionary tradition of the area. Similarly, the installation of MAT platoons and all kinds of cops inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims to sterilize the university premises from any voice of opposition to the bosses. But beyond hitting the movements, the hiring of thousands of new cops, the millions given to equip the police and their constant presence in the public arena on every occasion set the tone of the new social contract. And all this at a time when society is being impoverished anew, with precision pushing those from below to the limits of survival. In a nutshell as Petsas arrogantly informed us adaptation (to capitalist and state dictates) or death.

The effort by the current government to restructure the education system and especially the universities begins the very next day after its election with the abolition of the university asylum. Their pretext was to crack down on lawlessness and instil a sense of security. This was followed by the passing of Law 4777 in the midst of quarantine to avoid major social reactions. The response to those that were manifested was a display of fierceness and brutality. Just a few examples:

the pulling of a gun by a cop at the ΑΣΣΟΕ (Athens School of Economics)
the two evacuations of the occupied rectorate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the space of one month in 2021
the evacuation of the steki at the Biologcko
the hundreds of injuries, beatings and arrests in the last two years in student mobilizations
the firing of asphyxiant inside the ΣΘΕ (School of Sciences) in broad daylight with hundreds of students and workers trapped inside the building and suffocating
the hitting and severely injuring of a student with a flashbang grenade fired at point-blank range
the murderous attack on the crowd attending Thanasis Papakostantinou’s concert during the 3rd Libertarian Festival of Occupied Spaces and Collectives, which almost resulted in people being trampled.

Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the Incendiary Attack on the House of Babis Papadimitriou by Direct Action Cells

The Direct Action Cells take responsibility for the attack with an incendiary device at the house of the MP of the New Democracy and journalist of SKAI, Babis Papadimitriou, in Metz in the morning of 6/7. Wanting to honour the real freedom of speech that is persecuted and silenced in the Western countries, we gave the name of Julian Assange to the cell that carried out the action. So that we can recall what it really means to silence freedom of speech with persecution, prisons, courts, when a journalist exposes the war crimes and massacres committed by capitalism.

Babis Papadimitriou belongs to this category of SKAI journalists who redeemed the worm work he did for so many years with a parliamentary seat in New Democracy. The Anglo-Saxon model followed by the SKAI television group in defending New Democracy, as Portosalte had said, has another parameter. The function of SKAI as a political reservoir for future executives and MPs of the New Democracy.

We have mentioned the illusion of security offered by the arrogance of a dominant position of a political official or a big journalist. So now Babis Papadimitriou has crawled out of his house in front of the television cameras to protest against the state’s inability to stop terrorists.

A TV puppet with a consciously argumentative speech, whose persona has been skilfully manipulated over the years by the shipowners who have him on their payroll and the political managers of New Democracy. The similarities with Aris Portosalte are many. After all, together they have marked a period when SKAI was outraged by plaguing the social resistance to the imposition of the memorandum programmes. As a journalistic duo they provoked the anger and disgust towards them from the majority of society. It is no coincidence, moreover, that at the news of the attacks on their homes the social reactions were jubilant from a multitude of people of our class. Santiago, Chile: Explosive attack against Belasco construction company in Las Condes + Claim by “Grupo de Acción 6 de Julio-Nueva Subversión”

During the night of Tuesday, July 5, around 23:00hrs an anonymous cyclist was riding through the wealthy streets of Las Condes to stop at the intersection of Ebro and Encomenderos.

In the place is located the corporate building of the construction company Belasco, the anonymous cyclist manages to enter a small package through the fence to give towards the interior of the building. After a few minutes, the device explodes, causing damage to the facade, mainly to the pillar, the entrance gate and glass of the building.

The unknown silhouette manages to continue its course without any problem or being detected. The typical police personnel for these events arrive at the place: GOPE, LABOCAR, OS-9 in charge of the already traditional Fiscalia Sur, self-styled expert for these cases.

From the progressive government, the Minister of the Interior Izkia Siches said: “the investigations are in progress, I am aware of it and we hope that they will be able to give a quick account. These are facts that we obviously reject as a government and we hope they will not be repeated in our country”.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, said: “We must not anticipate judgments, there are audiovisual images of the person who placed the explosive device, with respect to the company Besalco”. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for attacks on cops on the night of 18/6

In the war against the state we taste the most full and beautiful moments of freedom. These are the moments when we defy the power complex around us and the atmosphere, now full of gasoline and smoke, captures our definition of clean air on the street.

There, we always carry with us the prisoners of this war who are physically restrained in the cells of democracy. An integral part of the anti-authoritarian struggle, they are the imprisoned form of our self, as we, inversely, are the unreleased form of theirs.

One such moment was the evening of Saturday 18/6, when we set up a trap and attacked the Delta group, as well as the other repression groups that rushed to the Exarchia area, as a signal of solidarity with our imprisoned comrades. An attack that was accompanied by people present in the neighbourhood, giving for another Saturday the message that Exarchia is a field of resistance and struggle.

As for Bakoyannis and peace-loving citizens, they would be well advised to come to terms with the idea that as long as we exist the only law that will be applied will be the law of physics that calculates the distance travelled by a panicked Deltas running at 80klm/h. Besides, if they want the business community in the area to flourish they might as well open up parts garages left behind by their friends in uniform. Just as if they want redevelopment they can build the new apartment buildings in the area with all the marble and stones eating away at their heads.

LET FEAR CHANGE SIDES

The Direct Action Cells undertook the incendiary attacks on the homes of the Secretary General of the Greek Police Officers’ Union Evangelos Mantziorou on June 2 in Peristeri and the SKAI journalist Aris Portosalte on June 14 in Vrilissia. Our attacks were carried out in the context of our strategy expressed through the slogan “Fear must change sides”. For the last 1.5 years we have been trying with all our forces to target people who, from their position, staff the Greek capitalist formation. High-ranking police officers, big journalists, government officials, technocrats who plan government policy, judges, have been targeted. At the same time we have carried out incendiary actions against financial and political targets. Our action is aimed at sending a clear message to these puppet masters. Those who from their position participate in the savage attack that capitalism has unleashed on all aspects of our lives are in the crosshairs of the Direct Action Cells.

Their apologetic statements, the terror with which they jump out of bed when they hear the explosions of the devices we place in their homes, the condemnatory statements of the parties and the media, show that we are on the right track. The encouraging comments from our people, our class people, are our strength to carry on. Through our actions we are trying to keep alive the tradition and practice of direct action. To make it clear that our enemies have names and addresses. To prove that our momentum is greater when we become unpredictable and to call on other militants to follow our example.

The choice of the far-right neoliberal university student and his targeting was not the result of a victimhood and a source of disgust caused by his public presence. Aris Portosalte as a persona encapsulates the most extreme aspects of neoliberal discourse in the country and with his shrill voice he challenges and seduces the sympathetic ears of the neoliberal audience. His daily rants are not the opinion of a journalist, as he and those who deplored the attack on his house want to peddle, but the outgrowth of the political footprint of New Democracy in Greece at the cutting edge of its thought and speech production, the media. Like another harlequin, he has taken a leading role in the forefront of far-right propaganda and is doing the dirty work that the ruling party’s political cadres often avoid.
