The Greek justice system doesn’t have a problem, it is the problem itself

Direct Action Cells claim responsibility for the following incendiary attacks:

At the home of the judge Panagiota Yioupi, at dawn on Friday October 14, in the Glyfada area.

Youpi is one of the many servile puppets of the gang that operates under the name of Greek justice. She presided in the trial of the child rapist and member of the Mitsotakis family, Dimitris Lignadis, who was released from prison after being found guilty of raping underage children. She is a judge who is part of the influential entourage of the drug-dealing shipping tycoon Vangelis Marinakis, having issued a series of provocative rulings in favor of his interests during her term as a judge in Piraeus.

Yioupi is relentless when confronted with the poor, handing out years of sentences with the same ease she would hand out toys at a children’s party. But she has a peculiarity, she turns into a sensitive and soulful person when confronted by people from high society, with political connections, access and financial clout.

At the home of the judge Myrsini Papachiou, at dawn on Saturday, November 5, in the Zografou area.

Papachiou occupies the highest levels of the cesspool known as civil justice. The throne that she sits on as vice president of the Supreme Court is built from the pain of shattered human lives destroyed by prison.

Our decision to target her, apart from her institutional role, is related to the fact that she is currently involved in the Novartis scandal, being a member of the special court that is currently trying state prosecutors and government officials from the former SYRIZA government, as defendants for allegedly orchestrating a conspiracy in this particular case. She is also a court tribunal member for the upcoming trial of a former SYRIZA minister in a case regarding TV licenses. In fact, in order for Papahiou to be a member of these tribunals, she was hastily promoted to the rank of deputy-president a few days before the selection of tribunal members took place. Without any desire to get involved in the shifting alliances and infighting of this rotten political establishment, we recognize that this court is acting as a white-washing machine for sections of the political elite who are involved in the Novartis scandal. An international scandal that demonstrates with surgical precision how capitalism works. Multinationals, big pharma and politicians were complicit in the criminal regulation of drug prices in the health sector. They were complicit in the dismantling of public hospitals, in the operation of an organized international state-economic mafia that exploited in the worst possible way one of the most basic services, that of health. The government’s systematic attempt to present this scandal as a frame-up goes hand in hand with its refusal to demand compensation from the company. Our choice to strike at one of the puppets that are part of the government’s white-washing is intended to highlight all of the above. Revolutionary solidarity is a sailboat without borders that rides the waves of the storm!

From Bure, we wish to send all our solidarity to our comrade Alfredo Cospito, who is currently in solitary confinement (called “41-bis”) in the prison of Sassari in Sardinia (Italy) for having shot the CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare, designer and builder of nuclear power plants, for having claimed his action and for having greatly contributed, from prison, to the debate on our modes of action, the diversity of tactics, internationalism and the revolutionary perspective of the anti-nuclear movement.

Any attempt to isolate one of our comrades will fuel our anger and revive the sparks that drive us to act. Alfredo Cospito’s struggle is also our struggle: against nuclear power and the technocrats who rule the world.

While the extraction of uranium and other rare-earth elements continues to ravage territories and destroy bodies, while nuclear “tests” or bomb trainings have contaminated the regions and inhabitants of Quirra in Sardinia, the Hoggar mountains in Algeria, Moruroa and Fangataufa in Polynesia, and other territories taken over by the imperialist powers, while in its war against Ukraine, Russia is using nuclear power plants as a sword of Damocles, Europe agrees that nuclear power is a “green” energy, France is rushing head first to build new reactors and Italy is questioning the shutdown of its production (after all, it didn’t mind continuing to build power plants in other countries, so why continue to pretend to have stopped, right?). The projects of burying radioactive waste, in Bure (France) and now also in Italy, are not a search for solutions to the contaminations that nuclear power has produced, but tools to allow nuclear power to develop, more and more.

The Italian state, in the vanguard of the repression of our struggles, adopts, not too surprisingly, the strategy of isolation. Isolate more and more: on an island far from loved ones, alone in a prison, in a cell in the basement. Sardinia, a militarized island, a training ground for special forces, with its NATO bases, is a node of the war. For a long time, it has been used as a location for isolating the most problematic political prisoners, such as the Red Brigades and the Nuclei Armati Proletari locked up in the Fornelli prison in Asinara, whose revolt of October 2, 1979 should be recounted. The Fornelli prison has now become a museum, but it has not made history of all the other prisons, it has not put an end to the confinements in the 41-bis special regime, and therefore it will not archive our struggles. Even today, Sardinia is used as a land of deportation for the enemies of the state order.

Watching the domestic news of the last few months, one will see that despite the social reactions that have developed, the isolation and suppression of the antagonistic movement as well as the imposition of unprecedented social control measures remains a key objective of the Greek state. The gentrification of Exarcheia includes the construction of a metro station in the square, the redevelopment-privatisation of the Strefi Hill and the blocking of access to the Polytechnic and aims to uproot the revolutionary tradition of the area. Similarly, the installation of MAT platoons and all kinds of cops inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims to sterilize the university premises from any voice of opposition to the bosses. But beyond hitting the movements, the hiring of thousands of new cops, the millions given to equip the police and their constant presence in the public arena on every occasion set the tone of the new social contract. And all this at a time when society is being impoverished anew, with precision pushing those from below to the limits of survival. In a nutshell as Petsas arrogantly informed us adaptation (to capitalist and state dictates) or death.

The effort by the current government to restructure the education system and especially the universities begins the very next day after its election with the abolition of the university asylum. Their pretext was to crack down on lawlessness and instil a sense of security. This was followed by the passing of Law 4777 in the midst of quarantine to avoid major social reactions. The response to those that were manifested was a display of fierceness and brutality. Just a few examples:

the pulling of a gun by a cop at the ΑΣΣΟΕ (Athens School of Economics)
the two evacuations of the occupied rectorate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the space of one month in 2021
the evacuation of the steki at the Biologcko
the hundreds of injuries, beatings and arrests in the last two years in student mobilizations
the firing of asphyxiant inside the ΣΘΕ (School of Sciences) in broad daylight with hundreds of students and workers trapped inside the building and suffocating
the hitting and severely injuring of a student with a flashbang grenade fired at point-blank range
the murderous attack on the crowd attending Thanasis Papakostantinou’s concert during the 3rd Libertarian Festival of Occupied Spaces and Collectives, which almost resulted in people being trampled.

The winter of capital

This weekend’s elections were very important for the fate of Europe. No, we are not talking about the miserable staging of the Italian round of elections, but about the referendums held in some occupied territories of Ukraine for annexation to the Russian Federation.

With them, the proxy and regionalized “world war” being fought between Russia and NATO takes a formal turn with important practical consequences. From the moment the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye officially become part of Russia, Putin’s regime can claim that any Ukrainian attack in these territories will be read as an attack on Russia itself. The result is the order for general mobilization, the proclamation of martial law, and the transformation of its industry into a war economy to defend the homeland.

With this strategic shift, the Russian government moves away from the rhetoric of Special Military Operation – a neologism taken in inspiration from “international police missions,” “peacekeeping missions,” “humanitarian wars,” and other fanciful Doctor Strangelove sorties of the much-hated West – to the declaration of outright war. Demonstrating the farcical nature of any electoral mechanism, which always photographs the power relations between dominants and never an abstruse as non-existent “popular will,” Putin ordered partial mobilization even before knowing the referendum outcome, recalling the first three hundred thousand reservists.

From now on, all those states that have been arming the Kiev regime for months and that have enabled it to resist so effectively and to counterattack with unexpected successes become cobelligerent. Those who arm a state to which war is formally declared are also (almost) at war. Europe and the United States will now have to take responsibility for a conflict that they have fueled by all means, with the aim of bleeding the Russian enemy dry, hoping to achieve maximum results with minimum effort, i.e., by sending Ukrainian ascari1 to their deaths.

Rather than expire in the partisan readings of the court pen-pushers and opposing supporters, which as internationalists and enemies of every state we cannot but reject, reiterating our hostility against all sides in the war, it is worth dwelling on a couple of thoughts. Kassel, Germany: Incendiary attack of the car park of the German army

On the night of Thursday to Friday of last week, two vehicles were completely burned in the district of Bad Willhelmshöhe in Kassel (Hessen region). The two cars that were completely destroyed by fire were two civilian vehicles belonging to the German army fleet, parked near the Bundeswehr technical school. The cops say the damage was in the mid-five figures. A small drop in the bucket compared to the huge sums currently being spent on rearmament.

Since all NATO member countries are required to spend at least 2% of their GDP on war preparations, spending on military and armaments products is skyrocketing in Europe. Since then, the German army has been subtly presented to us as an “antiquated troop, reduced to a pitiful size by cost-cutting” and “not fit for combat”. The aim is to convince the public that the huge investments in the military-industrial complex are justified and serve the security of Europe. When at the beginning of this year the war in Ukraine escalated again and the Russian ruling class sent its army to finish annexing the territories in the east of Ukraine that have been disputed for years, the calls for the necessary rearmament of Europe finally found complacent ears.

In a fast-track parliamentary procedure, 100 billion euros of “special budget” were made available to the German army, in addition to arms spending that had already risen to 56 billion dollars by 2021. German arms companies, whose war material will now be massively sold to the Ukraine and produced for NATO armies, are rubbing their bloodstained hands and can say with a clear conscience: this time we are on the right side. Buoyed by this mood, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, who normally avoids publicity as is appropriate in this industry, is no longer missing an opportunity to promote his group, whose share price has doubled since the start of the war in Ukraine. The fact that the German arms industry is only interested in profits and has no morals is evident in the arms trade with the fascist Erdogan regime in Turkey or with Saudi Arabia, whose army helped to crush the Arab Spring protests in Bahrain in 2011. The big German arms groups have also sold their war machines to Russia, although after the annexation of Crimea an arms embargo was decreed by the EU. In order to do this, the arms dealers used, as is also usual in this sector, a legal loophole to circumvent the embargo. The horrors of war move sensitive souls. To us, however, they remind us that it is injustice that dominates this world. The mangled bodies are always those of poor people, it is never a rich man who dies, who loses a hand.

We do not think we can compete with the violence of the state; your capacity for destruction and death is unparalleled. In recent years you have shown it in Syria, in Iraq, today in Ukraine, and we saw it with the torture and slaughter in Italian prisons in March 2020. We have not forgotten or forgiven.

We cannot compete with your violence and probably do not even have the guts. Instead, we believe in the necessity of revolutionary violence, in action that opens glimpses of freedom. We believe in the contagion of ideas that walk through actions.

Once again the Informal Anarchist Federation becomes a tool for revolutionary communication and propagation of anarchist action. An instrument to which all comrades can adhere by affixing their signatures to the acronym FAI-FRI, putting us in communication without the dangers derived from direct knowledge. A tool with which we can express ourselves, even dialogue and confront each other, in the knowledge that we are talking to comrades who have put their lives and thus their freedom at risk. When words are too many and consequent actions are few, it is up to us alone to reverse this trend.

We brought a little reminder of violence home to those who with state violence do their business.

We sent the parcel bomb that arrived June 27 in Rome to Alessandro Profumo, CEO of Leonardo S.p.A., the state-owned company that produces weapons of war and cutting-edge technological devices. A collector and boardroom climber, a grand boot licker of universities, Profumo is one of those people we are unlikely to see bleeding from the wars with which he enriches himself. Leonardo has done business trading arms with both Russia and Ukraine, today its shares are flying on the stock market, and the Italian government is promising a shower of billions coming in thanks to the NATO-mandated arms race. Their capital is only ever matched by our suffering and sacrifice.

Can you smell the perfume of rage? We are coming to restore some of your terror, scum!

Leonardo is at the forefront of technological development and research in Europe, for example being repeatedly commended for its achievements in the field of aerospace engineering. The coincidence is not surprising since war and technical innovation have always been interconnected.

It is with technology that they ruin our lives, that they spy on us, that they drive us into misery. It is with developments in techno-science that aim to reshape the social fabric, making war possible. Let us strike at those responsible.

Let us call for an international campaign of action against the oligarchs who enrich themselves with war, the masters of energy and the techno-science and industrial sectors. Each with the means and methods they prefer, making their case or letting the facts speak for themselves.

We dedicate this action to Alfredo Cospito: remove our comrade from 41 bis or you will have to start washing the blood of the jailers.

No resignation, no truce, no peace. For international fraternity and revolutionary action.

Spoleto, Italy: The premeptive class warfare of the Italian state

THE PREEMPTIVE CLASS WARFARE OF THE ITALIAN STATE

The arrests that took place in the early morning of Tuesday, July 19, on a warrant from the Piacenza prosecutor’s office are indicative of the repressive climate in Italy and the authoritarian turn underway. Four SI Cobas trade unionists were placed under house arrest for the long cycle of struggles that inflamed logistics from 2014 to 2021. Along with them, two USB unionists were also placed under house arrest and two others are the recipients of other precautionary measures. Prosecutor Grazia Pradella’s charges are of criminal conspiracy, private violence, resisting a public official, sabotage, and interruption of a public service, finalized by extortionist intent in order to obtain better wage conditions for workers.

We do not believe that we should be outraged, as is happening in these hours, by this repressive operation, but rather point out that it is an open manifestation, a true confession, of the mentality of the bourgeoisie in this historical period: for the gentlemen of GLS, Amazon, FedEx-TNT, as well as from the arrogant statements that are being uttered every day by the leaders of Confindustria, everything must be granted, everything must be permissible for them. Even putting up a tough fight for a wage increase becomes extortion. The whole loot belongs to them by right, one must not dare to ask, one must not struggle. The charge of extortion is thus not a scandal, if anything, a sign of the times.

This repressive operation stands in open complicity with the murders of Abd El Salam, which occurred, moreover, in Piacenza itself in 2016, and Adil Belakhdim, who was murdered last year in the province of Novara. In both cases, the murders occurred during a strike picket, the same pickets that have been attacked repeatedly in recent years by police charges and assaults by corporate henchmen. Therefore, judicially attacking self-defense practices means acting basically in concert with the picketers and murderers. People’s lives in the big cities have become so empty. People have ended up dragging their carcasses through a daily suffering and a constant despair just to take a picture of a utility bill at the end of the day and post it on social media with digital cries of futility about a world that leads nowhere and a reality that is unbearable for them in the capitalist machine. People’s eyes have been trained to remain glued to the screens with their brain functions losing touch with their emotions, anger, hatred for the degradation of this rotten world, pain for their neighbor, history, memory, nature. People have been trained to watch the world in a digital reality that runs at ever greater speeds and end up being inert beings in this digital consumption without shaping events. And we, among others, somewhere in the margins of Existence of today, humbly trying to keep the flame alive from the eyes of the people we have lost by our side.

In this way we have honored our dead: We carried the incendiary device for our attack on Real as if we were carrying the remains of the dead of the social war. Two years exactly after the death-state murder of Vassilis Maggos we did this action and the spirit of Vassilis was inside us smiling at us.

At dawn on 13/07 we left an incendiary device of small power on the ground floor of the building outside the door of the Real News – Real Fm snitches. After the external destruction of the door, a fire broke out in the upper part of the building through the duct resulting in the total destruction of the premises of Real News and Real Fm, as well as a shipping company located in the same building. Our action was planned in such a way that no human (or non-human) life such as a passerby, resident, animal or worker/employee would be endangered, as it was, even though Mitsotakis and his mouthpieces would wish for the opposite. We therefore recommend that people keep calm and not eat the lies of the state narrative of events raw because as we will explain below, we live in a reality of lies. For any inconvenience to the working sound engineer of the building due to the murderous negligence of her bosses in not making adequate provision for easy egress of the building, we will seek a public apology from her exclusively, saying in retrospect publicly and humbly that our purpose was to make a symbolic attack. After all we knew the specifications of our action and that it would not put an innocent person at risk in a concrete building in front of Kifissias Avenue in Maroussi. And we reiterate that this is a fact already. It is not a theoretical scenario or an intuition in the realm of probability. It is funny the dimensions and magnitude of the lie given around this issue in the mainstream media, indicative that Greece is one of the countries that are hitting rock bottom in terms of freedom of the press since everything is directed as updates from the government’s mouthpiece. Anyway, we are one of those parts of the working class that is fighting its own struggles alongside many other workers and in no way would we want to harm a sound engineer, but only cause material damage to the building at material cost to their bosses. The crocodile tears of the New Democracy fascists for the worker have provoked our above anger with their crude hypocrisy. I wonder if they ever felt any pain for the many employer murders that have occurred recently such as the electrician Christos Zorbas in the HPEIROS industry or the murder of the COSCO dock worker? Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy… that is all that characterises the vulgarity of those in power. And to clarify the landscape, to answer that if we wanted to kill as presented by the “4th power” i.e. the executive organs of the lie of the state, which are the journalists, we would come one morning with a crowd of workers inside the offices and leave the device. But because we simply did not and do not have such a purpose to endanger ignorant people, obviously for all the reasons in the world we did not choose to do so. Athens, Greece: Attack upon the offices of University Research Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (EPISY) for their involvement in assisting the investigation of cops and the army (National Technical Univeristy of Athens)

In recent times, we have seen the campus of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki turned into a release field for the murderous mania of the cops. Similar incidents of violence will become a daily occurrence in whichever campuses the university police are installed, which in order to get a foothold in the sanctuary will come accompanied by all the forces of the Greek police. This wave of repressive violence is intended to crush any possible resistance to the educational restructuring that has already been passed, namely the exclusion of the social base from higher education, disciplinary measures and the expulsion of students, cameras and controlled entry to schools, the alignment of curricula and research with the interests of capital.

In the wake of this restructuring we see more and more collaborations between Greek universities and military and police services, for whose needs research projects are carried out in the laboratories of the schools. These research projects, which concern border surveillance and the monitoring and suppression of militants, are funded by the EU and NATO to the tune of millions of euros.

In conclusion, within the framework of the European Defense Industrial Development Program, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Patras in cooperation with the Hellenic Air Force and the Ministry of National Defense conducted the research project <<Project Lottus>> for the design of a drone for the protection of land and sea borders. As a continuation of this project, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Thessalias in cooperation with the Hellenic Aircraft Industry will carry out the industrial production of such a drone, which will be made available to Frontex and the coast guard, among others, the agencies responsible for thousands of murders and expulsions of migrants in the middle of the Aegean Sea. Similar research projects have been undertaken by the NTUA, under the EU-funded Horizon 2020 programme. From Jason and Poseidon to Andromeda and Ingenius, the NTUA has been involved time and again with the logistical upgrade of the border guard and the army. Another project that the NTUA has undertaken is Prevision, which promises to be a state-of-the-art tool in the hands of state security. The aim of the programme is to monitor and map individuals with deviant/radical attitudes and views. The coordinator of all these programmes, on behalf of the NTUA, is the EPISY, i.e. the research arm of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
