Patras, Greece: Solidarity actions for anarchist comrade Andreas Floros

A few days before Andreas’ apology, we carried out acts of sabotage and wrote slogans on several banks and ATMs in the city of Patras, as a minimal symbolic gesture of solidarity with him.

Andreas was accused of forming and joining the “terrorist” organization “Conspiracy Vengance” and since April 26, he has been held in pretrial detention at the Amfissa prison. On May 16, his trial began at the Lukareos Court of Appeals in Athens, where the court decided to acquit him, thus ending his detention, as he is now outside the prison walls.

As an anarchist, Andreas is targeted by the authorities because of his long-standing and ongoing participation in social and class struggles in the city of Patras. He has chosen to stand against every oppressor and alongside every oppressed person, against every authority that dominates our lives, and to fight for a free world.

The conspiracy built by the Patras state security and the anti-terrorist service, and ratified by the prosecutor and investigator, with well-known tactics such as upgrading charges, anonymous phone calls, the use of conversations with imprisoned detainees to create profiles and criminalize friendly and comradely relationships, reveals at its core the central and timeless policy of the state to attack and suppress anyone who struggles. For this reason, we recognize the prosecution and attack on our comrade as a targeted attack on the entire anarchist and anti-authoritarian movement.

Obviously, the media played an important role in the prosecution of Andreas, as they took care from the outset to reproduce the police press releases and comment on them, deliberately adding characterizations and false information to the detriment of our comrade. In this way, they created an image of Andreas as a “hardened criminal,” distorting his political identity, while at the same time reinforcing the fear that already exists in society and glorifying the role and work of the police. All of the above contribute to his early social condemnation.

Finally, for this symbolic act of solidarity, we chose as our target one of the foundations of capitalism, power, and oppression. Because banks and capital, together with states, contribute to the complete destruction of the world in order to maintain the capitalist system, which alienates, crushes, destroys, and takes away everything we have to survive. It is time to take it all back.

About the Switch Off! attack campaign

A year ago in Europe a campaign of attack against companies and infrastructures that feed the ecological catastrophe around the world, entitled Switch Off! was launched. Large and small actions have positioned themselves in offensive from the concern and need to confront an evident eco-systemic collapse provoked by the global capitalist machinery that destroys everything in its path.

The intention of the campaign is to “attack the system in a sustainable way”, placing direct action in a common context through anonymous communication with each other, inviting to arm themselves with their own means and go on the offensive against the productive infrastructure and with it the property, without falling into false discursive, institutional and/or technological illusions, “making it clear that there can be no green capitalist alternative, nor peace with the existing conditions”.

In a first statement of presentation we can see more precisely what is the background and objective of why to invite the use of the slogan “Switch Off!”:

The certainty that the current system will lead to the collapse of the massively damaged ecosystem has already moved countless people and driven them into resistance. Tens of thousands are taking to the streets against the capitalist machinery’s “business as usual”, people are resisting the destructive large-scale projects en masse, the system’s infrastructure is being blocked and courageous fighters are setting fire to the machines that are robbing them of their livelihoods.

What we need in the struggle against the destruction of nature and the resulting social misery is the common striving for the real revolutionary break and the freedom of all. For an initiative that rejects all compromises and cosmetic corrections of the state and brings about a transformation of our social relations.

Because the destruction of the planet by the neoliberal economic system is inextricably linked to patriarchal thought patterns, racism and colonialism. The initiative for this must necessarily come from below. From the struggles of the marginalized. From the struggles of those who oppose the state’s promise of salvation with a self-organized, solidary coexistence. From the struggles of those who see that there can be no compromise in the fight against the systemic destruction of the biosphere.

We should also be aware that we cannot completely prevent the gradual collapse of a massively damaged ecosystem. Not the loss of biodiversity. Not the depletion of resources. We will not be able to prevent the climate catastrophe, as we are already in the midst of it. Admitting this – without any doomsday pathos – does not paralyze us. On the contrary: it should open up the question for us and our contexts of what our lives and our revolutionary struggles could look like in the future.

We can hardly block and sabotage as radically and uncompromisingly as the climate change caused by capitalism requires. But we should not be discouraged by this. Let us question, sabotage and sustainably attack the infrastructure of capitalism in the fight against exploitation. So that another world becomes possible! Let us cooperate with each other in solidarity so that we can live a dignified life. Let us realize our ideas in the here and now and already within our struggles and actions. We will not be lulled into complacency by the attempts at appeasement by those in power.

Against their technological solutions

The solutions offered by those in power for the now noticeable effects of the ecological crisis are primarily technological. This is obviously also driven by lobbying, but above all it is a strategy to legitimize themselves. The development, control and application of the “technologies of the future”, which are supposed to make growth capitalism “sustainable”, are in the hands of the state, industry and science and are inextricably linked to them. If we are being sold the illusion that climate change can be stopped technologically, then this is based on the belief that those in power only need to take the right steps, the right measures, to save this world.  For one thing, they have absolutely no interest in ending the expansionist capitalism that secures their position of power. And for another, technological reform, with the new dependencies it produces, is also doomed to failure. Examples of this could be e-mobility or technologies for the production of so-called renewable energies. The required raw materials are often procured in the course of neo-colonial environmental exploitation. The transportation of these raw materials and components is in turn highly dependent on fossil fuels. Norway: Wolf murderers go into hiding after being targeted with caltrops

According to pro hunting reports, several wolf hunters in Norway have been targeted over night, with activists placing caltrops around their personal homes.

The wolf cull in Norway seeks to murder 18 wolves throughout the country in 2024. The latest wolf census for the country showed a total of 89 wolves living in Norway.

Environmental minster and known wet wipe Andreas Bjelland Eriksen has publicly condemned the actions, saying “I have full respect for the fact that many people want to challenge predator management, but this is done through democratic processes such as campaigning in front of Parliament and being clear in the media, not through illegal actions that can be directly dangerous for those doing a job for the community,”

The “vandalism” and “illegal actions” referred to by Andreas is the direct attack to several hunters who are actively attempting to kill wolves in Kongsvinger area.

Since the news of the caltrops, the wolf cull in the area has been halted. Whilst the hunting team says it is due to the weather and difficult tracking conditions, the police says it is difficult to know when they’ll be ready to go back out hunting.

We present the English translation of the French publication ‘Black Out. Controversy about meaning and efficiency of sabotage’

Between February and March 2020, all over the world, heads of state made solemn and grave announcements in order to prepare their populations for what appeared to be a new era : one of war against the virus. Within a couple months, the sabotage of telecommunication infrastructures had almost become a daily event in France, as well as in other European countries. Simultaneously, a debate sprang up within anarchist and radical ecological publications, in particular about the meaning and efficiency of these acts. How could we undermine technological control ? Could we provoke a tipping point within this situation? What scenarios did these sabotages open up ? How could we consider efficiency, organization and ethics altogether? Nowadays, the situation has evolved, but the problems brought up by the following texts remain unresolved, maybe even more so now, and without obvious answers : what are the links between direct action and social or ecological movements? What strategies emerge when we separate or combine anarchist, ecologist and techno-critical perspectives? How do these strategies integrate a now-decisive element : the war in Europe, which will guide and harden the grip of states on their populations.

Lyon, France : Three new arrests in the Lafarge case

After two waves of arrests in June, 3 people were arrested this week in connection with the Lafarge case.
Early on Tuesday morning, November 28, three people were arrested in connection with the Lafarge case.
They were arrested by the SDAT, then taken into police custody in Lyon, where they were questioned for 3 days, before being released early Thursday evening.

Already in June, one person had been arrested in Lyon, and had published an account.
An article published in September detailed the invasive investigation methods used in this case.

– ask for a lawyer, if you know one (ask your legal team about trusted lawyers. The name is sufficient)

Indra, an arms manufacturer, constitutes the technical part of the development of the geopolitical and economic interests of states. Numerous contracts with the Ministry of Defense in Spain demonstrate their participation in military weapons projects, aside from being the company who controls 80% of the Sociedad Española de Misiles, the Spanish subsidiary of the main European missile manufacturer. Today, the military industry has adopted a new image that moves away from that of the military giving a coup to present another, the friendliest and smiling professional mercenaries who together with their suppliers respond to a social demand for security. When excuses such as terrorism are not enough to justify the augment of militarization, then the other great concerns of society become the necessary pretext for the military descent in the Metropolis. Thus, events such as the recent creation of the “Bibby Stockholm” prison-barge in the United Kingdom destined to continue repression towards migrants is not a coincidence.

The military complex finally ends up accompanying society in its decline with its gentle image, its technological surveillance systems and its sense of security for the citizenship, seeking to establish the deathly peace of the bosses and the legal owners with the support of the silent majority.

Given all this, we are left with the decision that our battlefield is that of denial and disobedience.
Through this action we would like to spread the fire in these conditions of continuous war against each symbol and face of the authoritarian society in which we have decided to fight.

El pasado martes 25, de madrugada, atacamos con nuestros materiales favoritos: gasolina y fuego, una furgoneta de la empresa Indra cerca del barrio de Vallcarca.
Indra, empresa fabricante armamentista constituye la parte técnica del desarollo de los intereses geopolíticos y económicos de los estados.
Numerosos contratos con el ministerio de defensa de España demuestran su participación en proyectos de armamento militar a parte de ser quien controla el 80% de la Sociedad Española de Misiles, la filial española del principal fabricante de misiles europeo.

Finland: Incendiary attack against Saga Furs

On Thursday 1.6. before dawn we cut a hole in the fence of Saga Furs in Vantaa, Finland and made an incendiary attack against their premises.

Saga Furs has no justification for existing. As a company they make profits for their rich owners and cause monstrous suffering to animals produced for the fur industry. This will not end by asking or hoping.

Until Saga Furs is fertilizer for our gardens.
