Bremen, Germany: Fire and flames for those who profit from fear. OptoPrecision attacked

On the night of November 26, 2024, we attacked the headquarters of OptoPrecision in the Horn district of Bremen with incendiary devices. We set fire to the building in two different places. Stones, Molotov cocktails, and several liters of flammable mixture helped us with that.

OptoPrecision GmbH is a company based in Bremen. In its Security Systems division, the company develops surveillance technologies for the police, security services, and the military. Its product range extends from various laser and LED light sources to complete, custom-made systems for complex observation and surveillance tasks, both on land and at sea.

The company attracted our attention because of its close collaboration with the Saxony police. In collaboration with the Görlitz police department, OptoPrecision developed a mobile camera system for reliable video recordings, regardless of daylight, in order to identify people and vehicles. The use of the PerIS person identification system has made headlines this year. The system was tested in Saxony and, with the help of administrative assistance, at least in Lower Saxony, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg.

Special technique for secret investigations

The cops are snooping around and increasingly intruding into all our private lives. OptoPrecision provides the technology for this. The company offers infrared laser lighting systems, specially designed for covert investigations by law enforcement agencies, which should allow for readable images from hundreds of meters away and in poor visibility conditions. It is increasingly being said that the cops are surveilling comrades for months, even years. OptoPrecision is happy to accept orders from the repressive authorities. This company is therefore co-responsible for the psychological terror, the sleepless nights, the isolation, the fear of searches, and also for the fact that comrades are in jail. We therefore consider our attack as a contribution to the practical work of fighting against repression. On this occasion, we send fiery greetings to our comrades who are in jail or on the run!

Surveillance technology has always been an important tool of the repressive apparatus. The digitization of society and the ever-new technical possibilities help the State to continue, in the future, to improve its public order capabilities. The radical left movement, anti-racist and anti-authoritarian, is already too often threatened by this evolution. A pessimistic view of the future must start from the fact that tomorrow’s right-wing governments and authorities are already preparing their weapons today. In the end, this will not only affect those who resist, but anyone who deviates from a state norm, who has a “bad” origin and/or is in a precarious economic situation. It is therefore not surprising that OptoPrecision not only accepts orders from the police, but also participates in the bloody business of Europe’s borders. On the company’s homepage, you can find techniques for the so-called “border protection.” The company’s vision of humanity is demonstrated, among other things, by the following excerpt from its homepage:
“The tasks of border protection include monitoring national borders and land, maritime, and aerial areas near the border.” In border protection, the challenge is to monitor people and objects over long distances, in varying weather and light conditions.

You did and do the right thing: organizing militant attacks against the capitalist system and all its assholes is important and necessary! Just like organizing to go underground and explore uncontrolled landscapes.

We set off a firebomb under the Audi of Bremen’s Interior Senator Mäurer near his front door on Weidedamm in Findorff, Bremen on July 19, 2023.

It feels like Mäurer has always been the senator for the interior, but for at least 16 years his job has been the unscrupulous implementation of the murderous European and German refugee regulations in the area of the Hanseatic city of Bremen. He was recently reappointed as the city’s chief manhunter for another four years. During his long tenure, he is responsible for thousands of deportations, arrests and imprisonments with all kinds of consequences for those affected. He has always backed murderous cops, such as the killers of Qosay Sadam Khalef and Mohamed Idrissi.

Mäurer had so-called “danger spots” set up in order to be able to carry out “independent-suspicion checks”. Twice a year, at the conferences of the interior ministers, he and his colleagues sing the chorus: “more weapons, tougher laws, more prisons…”.

This was also the case in June 2023, when shortly after the extreme tightening of EU refugee policy, the conference of interior ministers demanded further powers. 2000 km of border fences, tens of thousands of deaths in the Mediterranean, all this was still not enough for them.

Against left-wing radical subversion, Mäurer relies on observations and house searches. He provided administrative assistance for a year-long observation of the “Querlenker” car pool by federal authorities, which was carried out at great technical expense. During the presentation of the last Bremen report on the protection of the constitution, he speculated that the relative calm among “left-wing extremists” could be deceptive. He could be right.

The ongoing destruction of the earth, climate disasters, drought, water shortages, hunger and wars for the remaining resources, will force millions more people to flee. Military and police authorities of Fortress Europe will fight these people even harder. Also because of this:

With our small fire we also remember two revolutionaries who died last year: Ronald Fritzsch and Rolf Heißler. Both began to organize militantly at the end of the 1960s. Later, they fought as urban guerrillas with the June 2nd Movement and the RAF (Red Army Faction), and after their arrests, many years in jail. We will not forget their energetic commitment to a communist or anarchist future.

Since 20/10 Alfredo Cospito has been on hunger strike against the prison regime imposed on him by the Italian state, under the name 41 bis. Alfredo Cospito has been a prisoner since 2012, having taken responsibility for the shooting of Roberto Adinolfi, director of Ansaldo Nucleare, an action carried out by the Informal Anarchist Federation/International Revolutionary Front (FAI/IRF). Since then the comrade remains unrepentant and continues to be committed to the cause of social liberation. For this reason, the Italian state decided to impose the 41 bis regime on him from 5 May, a prison within a prison where he will be in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day, with one hour of pre-trial detention and meeting with other prisoners, who will be decided by the prison management, imposing full control over him, including which of his fellow prisoners he will associate with. Communication with friends and relatives will be limited to one hourly meeting per month, behind glass, or a 10-minute telephone call where the relative will have to make it from a police station or another prison. His right to possession of books and printed materials is also restricted, as is his correspondence. The exemption regime imposed by the Italian State on political prisoners and detainees through the 41 bis is now promoted for the entire consideration of the sentence and not the 4 years for which it was originally valid.

41 bis is a regime of political, social and sensory extermination, aimed at the complete elimination of all contact with the outside world. The aim is none other than the physical and moral extermination of those who choose the path of revolutionary vigilante justice against the tyranny of the state and capital. The extermination or the forcing of them to renounce their action is the essence of the laws of bourgeois justice, the so-called “anti-terrorist” laws, which provide for special conditions, wards and detention centres, isolation, torture and exterminating sentences, intended primarily for revolutionary organisations and their members, as many as the states label terrorists.

This is where the double contradiction of state terrorism emerges. First, it labels as terrorists those who rebel against the class-imposed terrorism of the rulers, reserving physical and moral extermination through its mechanisms, and at the same time the same mechanisms do not recognise the status of political prisoner or political opponent in those whom they try to exterminate. The State, therefore, cannot do real justice because it cannot speak the truth. Bourgeois “justice” is nothing but a mechanism for imposing and perpetuating class power over society.

Since the 1960s and its own storming of the heavens, the archipelago of the revolutionary, antagonistic movement on Italian soil, with armed guarded marches, occupations of factories and houses, self-motivations, organization of armed feminist movements and revolutionary organizations has proved that nothing is unattainable. From the actions of the BR/PCC in the 90s and 00s, to the attacks of the FAI/IRF and comrade Alfredo Cospito, the revolutionary thread continues to be woven with acts of resistance and emancipation that actively declare that nothing is over, and that revolutionary projects and visions remain relevant and alive in the ranks of the oppressed. And it is this thread, the historical continuity and memory that the fascist Meloni government, and every government before it, wants to silence and eradicate. The Italian state, faced with the archipelago of the revolutionary movement in its territories, has been forced to develop a series of repressive and counterinsurgency tools for decades, of which the 41 bis regime is an evolution. To this day, with the life-long imposition of the 41 bis torture regime, the Italian state is clearly leading its political opponents, those who try to do justice for the oppressed, into isolation and torture. The anarchic praxis of attack must be the basic stimulus of anarchy, otherwise it is a walking dead. Action is necessary to make us alive in the ways we consider opportune, removed from every program, hierarchical and vertical structure. Berlin, Germany: Arson attack on a vehicle of the Greek Embassy

Attentively we have followed how the Greek state crushes demonstrations in the streets of Athens. The government of Nea Dimokratia and its judiciary have proven that in the hunger strikes of D. Koufontinas and G. Michailidis, they are ready to let prisoners die rather than give in one step. We know the videos of the lynching with the participation of police officers of Zak Kostopoulos. As well as the execution of N. Sampanis in Perama by DIAS is an expression of a ruthless regime, as is the murder of Vassilis Maggos in Volos. Blood drips from the hands of the Greek authorities.

The new junta thinks it is smart to take advantage of the August vacation period to begin construction of the metro station in Exarcheia. Their goal is to destroy every social base and occupy every place of resistance with troops. The evictions of squats in Thessaloniki and the police invasion of the university there have not escaped us either.

Everywhere the Greek state encounters resistance from parts of society. We want to support this resistance in order to bring down the project of ND. The system of ND, its judiciary and its cops, is the state of rapists. The release of rapists and the simultaneous attack on a feminist demonstration in July in Athens, symbolizes the values of Mitsotakis’ government.

Italy: We will not stay warm during the storm

Let’s be clear: we want Alfredo out of 41bis.

Our proposal is not that of a specialized campaign against 41bis or against prisons: not because we like these institutions or because we think anyone should remain locked up in them, but because we think it is urgent to start from a “simpler” goal, knowing full well that when we have achieved it we will not have even begun in our struggle, which is for social revolution.

A struggle for the destruction of the prison cannot be won as long as there are states and authorities: therefore, these are battles that must be carried on continuously, but we would like, in this case, to try to give ourselves an attainable goal even in the short or medium term.

The fight against prison is – in itself – a fight against the existing, because the end of prisons means the end of the state, similarly the fight against 41bis, in Italy, goes to touch some of the foundations of the Italian state, which since its introduction has made it the workhorse of the “fight against the mafia.” Let’s face it clearly and humbly: 41bis is one of the ideological pillars of the Italian state, which has among its mottos “41bis or death!” The anti-mafia war has shown us this: the state, instead of giving up 41bis, has been willing to make the population pay for mafia bombs, such as the massacre of Via Georgofili in Florence or Via Palestro in Milan. So we find it difficult that on the abolition of that prison regime specifically (as, moreover, of prison in general), we can make pressures, whether harmless or violent. Whereas we think it is different to lobby specifically for the downgrading of Alfredo. This is not to say that our speeches, or our actions, should be watered down. The radicality of our struggle must be ensured, even in the case of a “partial demand” such as Alfredo’s demotion, by never disjointing the goals we can and must set ourselves with the social-political reasons for our anarchist actions. The radicality of action, propaganda, and agitation are the only antibody to strongly reiterate that our struggle is for the destruction of the existent, without mediation, preventing our demands, from that of the liberation of a comrade to stopping this or that project of capital, from being assimilated into a power-compatible reformism. SOLIDARITY TO MIGRANTS IN GREECE

Giannis Michailidis is an anarchist prisoner on hunger strike since 23/5. He has served 8.5 years in prison and, while he fulfils all formal conditions for his release, he is kept in preventive detention. The Greek judges backed by the Greek state refuse to release him on the pretext that he does not meet the substantive conditions of release. This additional detention is being used at will to punish him for remaining unrepentant and maintaining a militant stance within the prison walls. This is not the first time Michailidis faces the vengeance of the Greek state. His heavy prosecution began in 2011 when an arrest warrant was issued against him for involvement in the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, for which he was later acquitted. He chose the path of illegality and was arrested in 2013 in Velvento Kozani, after expropriating a bank together with 3 other anarchists, where he was tortured by the police. Athens, Greece: Attack upon the offices of University Research Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (EPISY) for their involvement in assisting the investigation of cops and the army (National Technical Univeristy of Athens)

In recent times, we have seen the campus of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki turned into a release field for the murderous mania of the cops. Similar incidents of violence will become a daily occurrence in whichever campuses the university police are installed, which in order to get a foothold in the sanctuary will come accompanied by all the forces of the Greek police. This wave of repressive violence is intended to crush any possible resistance to the educational restructuring that has already been passed, namely the exclusion of the social base from higher education, disciplinary measures and the expulsion of students, cameras and controlled entry to schools, the alignment of curricula and research with the interests of capital.

In the wake of this restructuring we see more and more collaborations between Greek universities and military and police services, for whose needs research projects are carried out in the laboratories of the schools. These research projects, which concern border surveillance and the monitoring and suppression of militants, are funded by the EU and NATO to the tune of millions of euros.

In conclusion, within the framework of the European Defense Industrial Development Program, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Patras in cooperation with the Hellenic Air Force and the Ministry of National Defense conducted the research project <<Project Lottus>> for the design of a drone for the protection of land and sea borders. As a continuation of this project, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Thessalias in cooperation with the Hellenic Aircraft Industry will carry out the industrial production of such a drone, which will be made available to Frontex and the coast guard, among others, the agencies responsible for thousands of murders and expulsions of migrants in the middle of the Aegean Sea. Similar research projects have been undertaken by the NTUA, under the EU-funded Horizon 2020 programme. From Jason and Poseidon to Andromeda and Ingenius, the NTUA has been involved time and again with the logistical upgrade of the border guard and the army. Another project that the NTUA has undertaken is Prevision, which promises to be a state-of-the-art tool in the hands of state security. The aim of the programme is to monitor and map individuals with deviant/radical attitudes and views. The coordinator of all these programmes, on behalf of the NTUA, is the EPISY, i.e. the research arm of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Hi, Juan. I’m writing this letter to express my solidarity and send you a big flaming hug of anarchy for the date of June 11th. This date, which is the date of the sentencing demands from the prosecutor, and also is the date for the International Mobilization for Anarchist Prisoners, is one more day in our intransigent lives.

Most likely, you may not remember me, but we met approximately 15 years ago, in Carcelona (i.e. Barcelona, a play on words which mixes the word “Barcelona” with “carcel” or prison in Spanish – translator’s note). I recall your broad smile, your laugh, and your warm and strong heart.

I saw your letter in Respiro number two with a collage of sunflower
seeds and a zen squirrel! Comrades from the Anti-repression fund of the Western Alps sent it to me while I was in the prison of Bristol, which I’m now banned from. When I see the artwork letters of my comrades, it gives me strength. I want to share this vitality with you and all the other comrades through this letter.

Anarchist direct action has precise objectives – it advances towards
those responsible for tyranny and the structures they administer. Our struggle is irrevocable, empirical and international. It is the state which carries out the massacres. It is the state which terrorizes. All the piles of corpses at the borders of Fortress Europe and drowned in the Mediterranean are mass murders. The results of the failed military interventions in Libya, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, just to mention a few, are mass murders in the service of Western interests. Multimillion dead from poverty, malnutrition, and economic adventurism, are mass murders. The killings by police on the streets or in custody, the deaths in prison and at the hands of nationalist fascist gangs are mass murderers. And those responsible where are they? With power. We may be imprisoned but our hearts are free. As anarchists we have nothing to explain to the enemy nor apologize for. It is the state which must justify itself and it is the state which is on trial.

It is said that “mountains and rivers differ in each region. But the
wind and the moon are the same throughout the skies we look upon.”

This is the love of the comrades and the compassion which navigates.
