Issue 3 of anarcho-nihilist / insurrectionary newspaper “Blessed Is The Flame” has been released

Posted on 2025/01/30 by darknights

PDF download link: [ENG] Blessed Is The Flame – Issue #3

(For those who wish to print the newspaper, see the instructions below.)

The 3rd issue of the anarcho-nihilist/insurrectionary newspaper “Blessed Is The Flame” has been published. Its pages contain reports of direct actions, claims of responsibility, texts, poems, and news from anarchist prisoners and trials that were published in November and December 2024 in ten different languages across various parts of the world, or were sent to us via email and are being published for the first time. (Some of the texts published for the first time will also be uploaded as standalone posts on our blog, blessed-is-the-flame.espivblogs.net.)

Our goal is not only to break down the linguistic barriers that hinder information, solidarity, and the dissemination of propaganda by the deed on an international level but also to give counter-information a printed form. We believe it is crucial for counter-information to transcend the limits of the digital realm.

In an era of rapid developments, we unfortunately published the 3rd issue a bit later than we had planned, as this is the first time the newspaper is officially published in seven different languages: Greek, English, Spanish, Indonesian, French, Italian, and German. A new post will include links to all these translations, once they are published on the respective counter-information platforms.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all comrades—both within Greece and abroad—who contribute by translating, offering financial support, and enabling the circulation of this newspaper in different parts of the world. Anyone interested in helping translate “Blessed Is The Flame” into even more languages can contact us at: blessedistheflame@riseup.net.

Printing Instructions:

For those interested in printing the newspaper, ask a trusted print shop to print it in A5 format as a colored booklet. In a few weeks from now, the English and the Spanish editions of the newspaper will also be available in an alternative format appropriate for the US paper sizing system.

For printing, please download the PDF directly from our website, as the download link may be updated in case we detect minor formatting errors in the file that may have overlooked.

$hile: 9 years since the arrest of comrades Kevin Garrido and Joaquín García, Memory and solidarity with those who challenge power

Posted on 2024/12/04 - 2024/12/04 by darknights

Kevin Garrido on the outskirts of USACH. November 2012.

9 years since the arrest of comrades Kevin Garrido and Joaquín García
Memory and solidarity with those who challenge power

In the early hours of November 19, 2015, comrade Kevin Garrido, who was 18 years old, rode his bicycle to the vicinity of the San Bernardo Gendarmerie School, armed with a bomb, a knife, and a lighter. After selecting the placement location, the comrade activates the bomb they had crafted in an artisanal manner (composed of a fire extinguisher filled with more than 2 kilos of black powder, shrapnel, and a fuse).

After the detonation at one of the entrances of the prison school, the comrade was quickly pursued and captured by a civilian car of the bastard Chilean police who had been following their steps, due to the placement of another explosive device that was set in the 12th police station of San Miguel on October 29, 2015, which was claimed by the “International Conspiracy for Revenge – Explosion Cell Gerasimos Tsakalos“ *(a comrade of the CCF imprisoned in Greece).

That same night, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the anarchist comrade Joaquín García Chanks, who was classified as a co-author of the attack carried out at the 12th police station, along with Kevin. The next morning, both comrades were paraded on all television channels as a trophy for the Chilean police state: “They sat me in one of their showrooms for more than six hours to hear the words spewed by a prosecutor with a nauseating stench. Faced with the speeches of judges and prosecutors accusing my companero and me and threatening us with dozens of years in prison, they expected faces of sadness or concern, not knowing that we would laugh and insult them to their faces.” (Kevin Garrido, Noviembre del 2016).

After their formalization, the comrades were placed in preventive detention in the maximum security section of the CAS. In June 2016, after living for 7 months in this regime of punishment and isolation, Kevin requested a transfer to the Santiago 1 prison/company, where he was sent to different modules for repeat offenders, without first passing through the “first-timers” modules as is the protocol, clearly showing an act of revenge by the gendarmerie. Even so, Kevin never asked for considerations from his miserable prison guards, nor did he walk in fear inside the prison. On the contrary, Kevin lived his imprisonment with the same determination he practiced on the street, and for this reason, he was always well received by other inmates in the modules he lived in.

In July 2016, comrade Joaquín managed to get out of prison with total house arrest, which he broke a few days later. In September 2016, after being in hiding for more than two months, Joaquín was recaptured by the PDI, carrying a revolver and ammunition.

After 3 years and 7 months of imprisonment, an extensive oral trial was held against both comrades. The court found them guilty of the attack on the 12th police station in San Miguel, but additionally, Kevin was found guilty of the attack on the gendarmerie school, and Joaquín for carrying a firearm and ammunition that he was carrying when he was recaptured. For these crimes, on 09/05/2018, Kevin and Joaquín were sentenced to 17 and 13 years in prison, respectively.

On the morning of Friday, November 2, 2018, after the morning count, comrade Kevin Garrido faced a conflict with a tyrannical prison guard, who cowardly and dishonorably attacked him from behind while comrade Kevin was going to get his weapon to confront him. After this cowardly attack, Kevin had to remain seriously injured, without receiving the necessary medical assistance, waiting for the ambulance for 1 hour and 15 minutes. He was transferred to Barros Luco Hospital, where he died after a high-risk operation.

On Sunday, November 5th, a massive funeral was held, which traveled from San Bernardo to the La Victoria neighborhood, where it was received by comrades and supporters, who accompanied the funeral procession with shouts, pamphlets, banners, fire, fireworks, and gunfire. All this under a heavy police siege that included helicopters, GOPE, police cars, injured individuals, and confrontations.

Comrade Kevin Garrido never considered himself a victim of the prison system; on the contrary, he faced it with dignity, declaring war on all expressions of the bastard authoritarianism that constitutes it, whether they be prison guards, authoritarian prisoners, judges, or prosecutors.

The insurrectionary path that Kevin embarked on from a young age, we reclaim every year by making it present in street fighting, in multiple forms of propaganda, and in direct actions that challenge authority, the prison system, and the infrastructure of progress.

Currently, comrade Joaquín García is imprisoned in the La Gonzalina prison/company in Rancagua, sentenced until November 2028.

“Who can say they are the first to tread this path, always cluttered with multiple trails? We inherit, perhaps unwittingly, the tools and the impetus that others have left behind; some have renounced, others have left, and a few still stand their ground, but what has never ceased to exist is the fertile ground, the antagonistic space in which violence can be exercised, projected, matured, and differentiated.” (Joaquín García. December 2018)

*Chile: Claim of responsibility for thwarted attack on San Miguel Police Station (October 29, 2015)

“We know that it never gets dark there, inside the prisons.” There, memories frost over, and one forgets what the sky looks like without bars and barbed wire. If death has its own color, it must be the one painted in its prisons. Because the realm of slow death lies within, and one can feel it every day.”

When a comrade falls into the clutches of power, we cannot remain perplexed and passively watch as the bars are imposed against their will. There is no need to mention the circus created by the media apparatus, always a slave to the bourgeois order – just like the rotten citizen police – although we expect nothing from it, hatred arises every time we see our comrades scourged in the feast set up by the press and the police, celebrating the capture of a new “trophy.”

While solidarity is always important – in all aspects – we cannot be satisfied with many of the actions taken in support of our comrades, even though they are always necessary. We believe that an important part of recognizing oneself as a revolutionary is being willing – as they are – to attack the state apparatus and capital. In this way, we believe that solidarity must transcend words, forge itself in attack, and thus transform into constant action against the order. Because the recognition of affinity is accompanied by complicities and experiences, which create an unbreakable bond among the anonymous.

For all the aforementioned reasons, on Thursday, October 29th at approximately 2:00 AM, we moved cautiously through the streets of the San Miguel commune. Armed with a bomb, composed of a 6-kilogram fire extinguisher filled with more than 3 kilograms of black powder, around 100 four-inch nails and 50 one-inch nails inside to act as shrapnel, a one-liter bottle of sulfuric acid, and two one-liter bottles of gasoline, all activated by a remote control, consisting of a cell phone connected to a modified 2.5-volt light bulb as a detonator. All this to attack the bastards of the 12th police station, located at the intersection of Álvarez de Toledo and Gran Avenida. After placing our vengeful gift on the back gate of the police station, next to the booth of the useless guard, we left the place without any problems. Once we were far away and safe, we made the call that should have activated the bomb. Unfortunately for us and fortunately for the wretches, something within the electrical circuit failed. Our intentions were and are clear, to cause the greatest possible damage to the green and white den -and every fucking authority that presents itself in our lives-, we calculated that the explosion would be able to knock down the gate and hopefully cause the death of some police officer, accompanied by the greatest suffering of their families, if possible, that they choose to commit suicide.

We salute the assumed prisoner of war Ignacio Muñoz, who was kidnapped on August 1 of this year carrying a one-kilo fire extinguisher filled with gunpowder and propaganda for those accused of the attack on the PDI, and who is currently in prison serving a preventive detention of 5 months.

If we failed yesterday, tomorrow and always we will continue attacking.

FOR THE FREEDOM OF ALL PRISONERS IN THE WORLD!

WE WILL RETURN…

.-International Conspiracy for Revenge/Explosive Cell Gerasimos Tsakalos.

Chile: Molotovs Against Police in Memory of Kyriakos X. and Kevin Garrido and in Solidarity with Marianna M.

Posted on 2024/11/27 by darknights

As part of the call for a Black November in memory of comrade Kevin Garrido, a group of young anarcho-nihilists set up barricades and clashed with police near a secondary school in Chile during the first weeks of November. At the scene they threw molotovs for black memory, in solidarity with the prisoners of social war, in solidarity with the comrades of “INBA”, who were hit by fire while making Molotov cocktails in the toilets of a secondary school in Santiago, Chile. Also, among the molotovs thrown there is a call for solidarity with comrade Marianna M. and in memory of comrade Kyriakos Xymitiris.

The propaganda read:

“MEMORY AND REVENGE FOR OUR DEAD!

Black November for Kevin Garrido

Down with the cages of civilized society

Free our imprisoned comrades in Chile and the world, Joaquín García, the prisoners of the July 6 case, Monica and Francisco, Aldo and Lukas, Ayekan and every prisoner of war, in the streets!

Solidarity with the comrades of INBA, action and mutual aid!

Solidarity and action with comrade Marianna M. who is hospitalized in Athens.

Kevin Garrido, Kyriakos Xymitiris and each of our dead present!”

IN MEMORY OF KEVIN GARRIDO – CALL FOR A BLACK NOVEMBER EN/ES

CALL FOR A BLACK NOVEMBER

IN MEMORY OF KEVIN GARRIDO

The anti-authoritarian comrade Kevin Garrido was captured by the Chilean dirty police on November 19, 2015, after placing and detonating an artisanal explosive device at one of the entrances to the San Bernardo gendarmerie school. After his capture, he was also accused of carrying out an explosive attack outside the 12th police station of San Miguel on October 29 of that same year, which was attributed to the International Conspiracy for Revenge – Gerásimos Tsakalos Explosion Cell. During the early hours of November 19, the police also captured comrade Joaquín García Chancks, accusing him of belonging, along with Kevin, to this cell responsible for the attack against the 12th police station.

After a long trial, Kevin was sentenced to 17 years in prison for attacking both police institutions with explosives, and Joaquín García was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the explosive attack and carrying a firearm that he had at the time been recaptured after escaping from house arrest in 2016.

On November 2, 2018, after having lived 3 years of imprisonment as a space of conflict against all types of authority, the comrade Kevin Garrido had a fight with an unworthy and cowardly prisoner who attacked him from behind. Although his injuries were very serious, Kevin did not receive the medical assistance he needed inside the Santiago 1 prison/company and the ambulance took 1 hour and 15 minutes to transfer him to the Barros Luco hospital, where he died after a high-risk intervention.

Comrade Kevin Garrido Present in the anti-authoritarian and insurrectionary memory!

6 years after his cowardly murder, we do not forget the irreducible path that he followed from an early age, until the end of his days.

“On the street – and wherever I find myself – I am a mutinous complicit in everything criminal and in prison I do not cower nor do I have a submissive attitude towards the jailers and any authoritarian bastard who passes through here. I don’t choke on nice speeches or phrases like: “death to all authority”and after a while I became victimized by a few coming blows from the Authority, an authority that I intend to assassinate with my hands. I assume the “consequences” of my actions that never go hand in hand with passivity. Because this is my War, HERE AND NOW.” (Kevin Garrido, February 2016)

Santiago, $hile: Responsibility claim for failed incendiary/explosive attack on RED bus – Black November by ‘Conspiracy for the Savage Iconoclast – Kevin Garrido Cell’

Posted on 2023/12/03 - 2023/12/03 by darknights

Santiago, $hile: Claiming responsibility for failed incendiary/explosive attack on RED bus – Black November.

“We have inherited many great ideas about how to confront domination, we know that nothing is set in stone. From the bones and broken tools of our predecessors we make our weapons. Nothing is guaranteed to work, but we attack regardless” (Müller).

Throughout history we have witnessed how techno-industrial progress has reinforced social control, securing every gear for its perverse reproduction. Capital and the state speak no other language than that of property, commodity, production and profit, and is willing to devastate everything in its path if it implies the perpetuation of its power through citizen-civilized servitude. The interconnection of the metropolis is possible, in part, thanks to the means of transportation throughout the cities. These means, more than a “service”, are the main tools for the transportation of goods within the cities. Yes, when we speak of merchandise we are also referring to humans, since in the empire of the market, all existence is reduced to the quantification of capital.

Without magic recipes or manuals written in stone, we experienced anarchy to the rhythm of the frontal and direct attack against the domain. On this occasion, we deposited an incendiary/explosive device inside a RED bus, which failed to detonate and was found inside a bus terminal. We were not discouraged by the outcome. We analyzed the technical errors, studied the causes and continued on the path of attack, seeking to be more and more dangerous and imperceptible. We know that anarchic warfare is not reduced to relations of material force against the enemy, much less to technical operation capabilities. For this reason, we decided to proudly claim this action, since we think that reducing anti-systemic actions to the result (successful or not) of these, is typical of an exitist paradigm that would only lead us, inevitably, to a militaristic understanding of anti-systemic praxis. Our methods and practices are deployed from informality and individual freedom, this as an antibody against any authoritarian attempt to direct our destructive power; be it “leader”, ” manager”, “collective” or any name that assumes dominance in our relationships.

This action is framed within what is another Black November in memory of comrade Kevin Garrido, murdered on November 2, 2018 in the prison-company Santiago 1. The indomitable and chaotic spirit of the comrade is present in this insurgent attempt against the civilizing domestication that imprisons all of us who cannot stand this horrible and caged world.

A fraternal and complicit embrace to our affinities and comrades. To those who for their audacity and insolence expect to be locked up with exemplary sentences and who have not been victimized or bowed down after their conscious and consistent actions. Francisco Solar, Mónica Caballero, Juan Flores and all the prisoners at war throughout the world to the streets!

ONWARD SAVAGES, ICONOCLASTS, ANARCHISTS AND NIHILISTS!

FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF POWER, CIVILIZATION AND ALL AUTHORITY, TO RETURN TERROR TO ALL WHO ATTACK FREEDOM.

DOWN WITH THE CAGES OF CIVILIZED SOCIETY!

Santiago, Chile: Responsibility claim for bus set on fire outside the Ex-pedagógico (UMCE) and armed confrontation with special forces of the carabineros

Posted on 2023/01/13 - 2023/01/13 by darknights

Note: The events that are claimed below happened on November 4 of last year, and their late date is explained by the fact that, in the words of the comrades themselves, it is “to be able to remember it with the aroma of the passing of time and to begin a new year of subversion and explosions.”

(Received at informativoanarquista@riseup.net)

Santiago, Chile: Bus set on fire outside the Ex-pedagógico (UMCE) and armed confrontation against special forces of carabineros for the iconoclastic memory of Kevin Garrido and in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito and the comrades of the Susaron Case. (04/11/2022).

“We speak of a new war, a new partisan war. Without front or uniform, without army or decisive battle. A war in which the focal points are deployed far from the mercantile flows, although they are connected to them. We speak of a totally latent war. That has time. Of a war of position. Which is being waged where we are. In the name of no one. In the name of our own existence, which has no name” (How to do? Tiqqun).

About the action.

During a quiet and bohemian Friday afternoon at the Ex Pedagógico, while the citizen/student mass lives its lethargic and alienated youthful fun, a violent direct action took place. This action is framed within the so-called “Black November”, where it is informally called to commemorate the life and death of comrade Kevin Garrido through the violent, diffuse and multiform attack. The action begins with our exit through the front of the university to proceed to cut off vehicular traffic in the area. We set up a barricade of tires and debris that we lit at the moment of intercepting a public transport bus. Our intention was to cross the bus horizontally to the street in order to cut off all traffic, however the driver of the vehicle blocked its driving, so we proceeded to set it on fire at the place of its interception with accelerating liquids. Without intending to harm the mass of citizens, we were constantly rebuked and repudiated for this action. We did not care and we responded verbally to their desperate insults and we were attentive to any onslaught that could emerge from any individual-citizen-cop with a craving for civil heroism, we shit on those people who, upon seeing armed comrades, dare to insult them, believing themselves -imbecilically- untouchable, voluntarily putting their physical integrity at risk in front of us. After this eventful moment, we entered the campus to wait for the police deployment and to receive it with all our strength: thunderous gunshots and a rain of Molotov cocktails hit the bodies of the squad of henchmen who naively took cover on the corner of Juan Gómez Millas street while the armored cars crossed the street. They clearly did not expect our means of attack to put their miserable lives at risk, which left a couple of policemen on the ground (apparently wounded by the shots) and provoked an almost immediate response: they shot at us with their service weapons and gassed the entire area of the front gate. After this counterattack, we used and unloaded all our material and disappeared fleetingly from the place.

Motivations.

This action -as we mentioned before- is part of the international campaign for a Black November in memory of the savage iconoclast Kevin Garrido, 4 years after his murder in the Santiago 1 prison. It is also a blow to the gears of capital that subject all forms of life to a lethargy of normality/passivity typical of a counterinsurgent period catalyzed by the democratic mechanisms of a social democratic government that has established an atmosphere of post-transition.

We abhor this reality and have no hope of reforming it, whether for democratic or “revolutionary” ends, so we attack it. Besides, hope (even the “hope of revolution”) is just that: hope. We do not hope. We attack… “when hope dies, action begins” (Beyond Hope, Derrick Jensen). Let those who still believe in social and human redemption wait while their social bases are camouflaged according to the dictates of the government of the day. We no longer believe. We do not even believe in the Social Revolution that the prophets of anarchy occupy to embellish their babbling tongues and project a false image on the depressing reality of this world. We deny it. “The idea of “progress” is central to the modern Western paradigm in which the assumption that the whole world is moving towards an ever better future predominates. The idea of the inevitability or possibility of a global libertarian future arises from that belief” (“Desert”, anonymous). We leave theoretical fables for the masturbatory leisure of academics. We are not part of any revolutionary tradition that dictates and imposes our practical work. Our action is Pleasure through destruction. We live our anarchy today and not in a “revolutionary” tomorrow.

Perhaps a burned bus, a few Molotovs and a couple of bullets will not put an end to domination. However, we prefer to contribute decisively to its destruction without any consequences. Our freedom is found in the attack, because it is only when we untie the chains of morality and the servitude of capital and decide to take action, that we conquer that freedom of which the old and dusty philosophy books talk so much. Thessaloniki, Greece: Explosive attacks on 2 houses of assassins in uniform by Direct Action Cells – Organzation Anarchist Action

Posted on 2021/11/21 - 2021/11/25 by darknights

On 22 October, uniformed assassins of the DIAS, detect a stolen vehicle in the neighbourhoods of Piraeus and pursue it. At the same time that the vehicle is trapped and immobilized, surrounded by numerous and armored police forces, the cops raise their guns and shoot in cold blood with 38 bullets 18-year-old Nikos Sampanis. Typically brought into the arms of civil justice are 7 cops involved in the murder, who under the blessings and praise of the Minister of Uniformed Killers himself, Theodorikakos, are released. The operation is a complete success. Score – one dead for one stolen vehicle.

From propaganda to praxis

Justice is a revolutionary affair and comes like the Sword of Damocles on your heads. As a minimum first retaliation for the previously announced murder of Niko Sampani, we take responsibility for the explosive attacks with low-powered devices on the houses of two bounty hunters in uniform, Lefteris Gatos at 19 Graziou Street and Dimitrios Daggli at 45 Olympiad Street, in the early morning hours of November 15th in Thessaloniki. Our attacks took place a few hours after a new outrageous event came to light: the arrest of yet another uniformed man for indecent assault on his 4-year-old daughter. We had made it clear that nothing goes unanswered, let alone a murder. And while incidents of police brutality are increasing by the day, passive waiting is not one of our characteristics. We go on the offensive again by publicly stating that as of today the bounty list has 19 more unpunished scumbags (with no guarantee that the above two will not be re-targeted in the future).

To cut the laughter…

Last July, we proceeded to put a public bounty on 21 hired killers of the Greek Police, showing you a small but not insignificant sample of our own factionalism in the face of your impunity. And we saw the fear and terror in your eyes when you took Tsairidis from channel to channel crying and begging justice for protection. A few months later, our deeds complement our words. As long as you are unpunished, you are unprotected. History itself has shown that murderers and torturers will always meet the punishing hand of revolutionary violence, of true justice. That is why our attacks on the political descendants of the junta’s torturers, a few hours before the anniversary of the ’73 uprising, are a tribute to the memory of the dead of the Polytechnic.
