On December 16, 2009 I was expelled from Argentina after 21 months of confinement in different units of the province of Neuquén to be at the disposal of the Chilean state and it has been 14 years since then.

In 2014 I was sentenced to 14 years for two bank robberies. Strictly speaking, I am serving this sentence in its entirety, from beginning to end, without any benefit and it ends today December 16, 2023 and still the state keeps me behind bars.

According to the gendarmes, I must serve 12 more years of imprisonment to be able to apply for some intrapenitentiary benefit only in 2036. According to their retroactive modifications of the illegal Chilean law, in 2056 I will definitively expire my sentences, all of them from events that occurred more than 30 years ago.

A madness of numbers and years typical of Pinochet’s military justice shamefully in force and still today endorsed by recent rulings of the Court of Appeals of Rancagua, of Santiago, of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court of this amnesiac country governed today by the Communist Party, the Broad Front and all the progressive and social-democratic scum always at the service of the interests of the great god of capital.

In this context, a few days ago, Mónica and Francisco, anarchist comrades of action who received the full revenge of the state, were condemned by the capital’s democratic inquisition, particularly Francisco to whom the domination imposed 86 years, becoming today the revolutionary prisoner in the Chilean prisons with the highest sentence and whom we must know how to accompany from the daily practice without pauses since the road will evidently be longer. Always from the complicit affinity and never from the victimization!

On the other hand, in the occupied wallmapu, in the same week, the racist Chilean justice declares Peñi Luis Tranamil Nahuel, who these days is about to receive a hefty sentence, as well as Peñi Nelson Queupil, who faces an imminent sentence, both walking the path of the weichan, are in Chilean prisons, fists raised, living the onslaught of the state offensive of occupation. USA: Anarchist Prisoner Eric King Released to Halfway House After Ten Years

Following nearly ten years of incarceration and numerous attempts by the State to frame, murder, and break him – anarchist prisoner Eric King has now been released and is headed to a half-way house “for several weeks,” reports supporters.

Imprisoned for taking direct action in solidarity with the Ferguson uprising, Eric King survived everything from COVID, to attacks by neo-Nazi prisoners, and years of abuse from guards. In a statement from 2016, King stated:

I stand by my actions. After seeing what happened in Ferguson, so close down the road, I was disgusted by the lack of mobilization in my city. Three hours away people were fighting for their lives and we weren’t even taking to the streets. We were doing nothing. My act as a very personal display of my anger and rage toward the state as well as an act of solidarity to everyone in Ferguson. We never know our own strength until we are tested and even with my ridiculous sentence I feel at least proud to have been able to stand strong and refuse to cooperate with the state.

In 2022, Eric King was victorious in court against a frame-up attempt by guards, after they attacked him in a supply closet and attempted to slap him with an additional 20 years in prison.

Currently there is a fundraiser set-up for Eric to help him with his post release. Eric is also one of the co-editors of the new book, Rattling the Cages: Oral Histories of North American Political Prisoners, published by AK Press, sales of which benefits the Anarchist Black Cross warchest program and Eric King’s family.

– Internationalist solidarity for the end of the sentence and freedom of comrade Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda, arrested in Argentina in 2008 after nearly 16 years in prison. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Pinochet’s military “coup” in Chile, wanted and created by North American imperialism as in Ukraine today, the comrade is sentenced by Pinochet’s legacy military justice. Today this legal aberration is applied, which coexists comfortably with the consensus democracy of the Chilean state, now ruled by the Boric left. Democracy and reactionary fascism are two sides of the same coin, tools of the Imperialist-State.

– Solidarity in the face of the beginning of the trial against comrades Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar [the judicial hearing, the main trial phase, began on July 18], the vengeance of state rule does not stop against those who go on the offensive by attacking its untouchability and impunity.

– Solidarity with Comrade Juan Aliste Vega, also convicted by Pinochet’s military justice, and Comrade Joaquin Garcia Chancks.

– Solidarity for the downgrading of anarchist Alfredo Cospito from 41 bis. Against 41 bis, out everyone, and for the abolition of life imprisonment.

– Solidarity with comrade Anna Beniamino and Alfredo Cospito convicted in a political trial on the abnormal charge of Article 285 c. p. p., massacre against the security of the state, or commonly called political massacre, this is the first time a massacre without massacre against the internal enemy has been used in this way in Italy. Article 285 c. p. c., massacre against the security of the state, has not been applied to the massacres that have been perpetrated in this country, Piazza Fontana, the Bologna station, Piazza della Loggia, since the 1970s of the so-called strategy of tension, massacres carried out by the Italian state, but, like Pinochet’s “coup”, wanted and created by North American imperialism in its struggle to keep the world under its control. U$A: Eric King Statement for June 11, 2023 EN/ES

Greetings comrades. Let me tell you about this prison, the federal supermax ADX [in Florence, Colorado]. In this joint there are different levels and units with varying levels of physical isolation and communication, but there are things we all experience. Everyone is locked down at least 21 hours a day, at max 24. When you have inside rec you are by yourself in a room without a pull up bar. Outside rec cages are 8 x 10 foot dog kennels surrounded by concrete walls and a chain link roof — a cage within a cage. Unless you are in the pre-release unit (K-A) or long-term elder unit (K-B), you will never be in the same room as another person. And even in those units you only come around your ‘group’ — which is one to four other people — for inside rec. The other 22 ½ hours are in your cell by yourself. I have been in C-unit, the discipline unit and K-A; there is one other person in my group.

The cells are sparse. Concrete walls and double doors make any communication between convicts very difficult. Cells feature a low concrete beed, an oddly shitty mattress, a concrete desk, concrete stool, and in some units, a shelf above the desk. You never have solo interactions with staff — you are always double-manned with one of them carrying a steel baton, and you’re always cuffed behind your back. Depending on the unit, you can get 4–10 calls per month. I’ve made two ‘live-monitored’ calls in the past 10 months, but I’m being told that by participating in psychology programs I’ll earn a few calls per month. Time will tell. We’re allowed five visits per month, all non-contact in a concrete booth over the phone. All visits have to be scheduled in advance, which can be difficult with such restricted communication. I’m the only Anarchist here, but I’m definitely not the only political prisoner. Within this prison there is a group of prisoners the US government has attempted to bury. The general abolitionist community has consented to this, and it’s devastating.

The most restrictive unit in the most restrictive prison in America is H-Unit, which is for people on SAMS (Special Administrative Measures). These restrictions are placed by the Attorney General, and they are sickening. SAMS vary per captive, but all entail only being allowed to write to direct blood family and your lawyer. The FBI must read and approve all letters, magazines, and books. Calls are severely limited, live-monitored by the FBI, and reviewed by magistrate judges. These convicts get three showers per week. The vast majority of people on SAMS are Muslim and foreign born. Because their families are in Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, or in Africa, it is nearly impossible to get visits, calls, or mail. These people will never see their families or home countries again. Their children will get married, have kids, grow old, and they will never know it. Against Oblivion, Against Despair: A Call for June 11th

Another year passes, and another June 11th is upon us. Once again we’re appreciating all that has unfolded in anarchist struggle over this period, both triumphs and hardships, outside the prison walls, and within. We’re appreciating the beauty in fighting back, and the strength that can be fostered when we refuse to succumb to both oblivion, and despair.

Against oblivion: we refuse to let the state disappear rebels, to erase their sweet or sharp words from our discussions, or to remove or obfuscate their contributions to our shared struggles. Instead, we remember them. Their actions, words, laughter, potential, and humanity. We can act as conduit for each other through prison walls and among generations. They can be kept involved as our struggles shift and change, and we can keep them connected to the outside world, and too the outside connected to them.

Against despair: up against the power of the state, it can feel as if nothing can be done. Despair is a very particular space to inhabit. Despair is not hopelessness, as hopelessness can be a fair assessment of circumstances. One can see and acknowledge hopelessness with a full heart and strong spirit. But despair, despair destroys courage. What is despair, but to value the knowing of suffering without acting against it. We refuse to wallow in the realm of despair, indefinitely. We refuse to let despair destroy our courage.

Instead, we will offer hope to one another. Not a naive or misguided hope that offers false solutions. But instead, an impassioned belief in our capacities as individuals, and capabilities together, to continue on. We can learn from people, like prisoners, who face the full power of the state in isolation and maintain their principles, their humor, their courage, and their resolve. We will act not just based on what’s possible or “strategic,” but on what we know to have value and meaning both out of care and love for each other and in an acting for our own selves, our own aliveness and spirit. Imprisoned comrades are often an incredible example of persevering in the face of hopelessness. Of coming out on the other side of it to the fierce activity of nothing to lose, and nothing worse to be feared.

Santiago, Chile: Responsibility claim for bus set on fire outside the Ex-pedagógico (UMCE) and armed confrontation with special forces of the carabineros

Santiago, Chile: Bus set on fire outside the Ex-pedagógico (UMCE) and armed confrontation against special forces of carabineros for the iconoclastic memory of Kevin Garrido and in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito and the comrades of the Susaron Case. (04/11/2022).

“We speak of a new war, a new partisan war. Without front or uniform, without army or decisive battle. A war in which the focal points are deployed far from the mercantile flows, although they are connected to them. We speak of a totally latent war. That has time. Of a war of position. Which is being waged where we are. In the name of no one. In the name of our own existence, which has no name” (How to do? Tiqqun).

About the action.

During a quiet and bohemian Friday afternoon at the Ex Pedagógico, while the citizen/student mass lives its lethargic and alienated youthful fun, a violent direct action took place. This action is framed within the so-called “Black November”, where it is informally called to commemorate the life and death of comrade Kevin Garrido through the violent, diffuse and multiform attack. The action begins with our exit through the front of the university to proceed to cut off vehicular traffic in the area. We set up a barricade of tires and debris that we lit at the moment of intercepting a public transport bus. Our intention was to cross the bus horizontally to the street in order to cut off all traffic, however the driver of the vehicle blocked its driving, so we proceeded to set it on fire at the place of its interception with accelerating liquids. Without intending to harm the mass of citizens, we were constantly rebuked and repudiated for this action. We did not care and we responded verbally to their desperate insults and we were attentive to any onslaught that could emerge from any individual-citizen-cop with a craving for civil heroism, we shit on those people who, upon seeing armed comrades, dare to insult them, believing themselves -imbecilically- untouchable, voluntarily putting their physical integrity at risk in front of us. After this eventful moment, we entered the campus to wait for the police deployment and to receive it with all our strength: thunderous gunshots and a rain of Molotov cocktails hit the bodies of the squad of henchmen who naively took cover on the corner of Juan Gómez Millas street while the armored cars crossed the street. They clearly did not expect our means of attack to put their miserable lives at risk, which left a couple of policemen on the ground (apparently wounded by the shots) and provoked an almost immediate response: they shot at us with their service weapons and gassed the entire area of the front gate. After this counterattack, we used and unloaded all our material and disappeared fleetingly from the place.

Motivations.

This action -as we mentioned before- is part of the international campaign for a Black November in memory of the savage iconoclast Kevin Garrido, 4 years after his murder in the Santiago 1 prison. It is also a blow to the gears of capital that subject all forms of life to a lethargy of normality/passivity typical of a counterinsurgent period catalyzed by the democratic mechanisms of a social democratic government that has established an atmosphere of post-transition.

We abhor this reality and have no hope of reforming it, whether for democratic or “revolutionary” ends, so we attack it. Besides, hope (even the “hope of revolution”) is just that: hope. We do not hope. We attack… “when hope dies, action begins” (Beyond Hope, Derrick Jensen). Let those who still believe in social and human redemption wait while their social bases are camouflaged according to the dictates of the government of the day. We no longer believe. We do not even believe in the Social Revolution that the prophets of anarchy occupy to embellish their babbling tongues and project a false image on the depressing reality of this world. We deny it. “The idea of “progress” is central to the modern Western paradigm in which the assumption that the whole world is moving towards an ever better future predominates. The idea of the inevitability or possibility of a global libertarian future arises from that belief” (“Desert”, anonymous). We leave theoretical fables for the masturbatory leisure of academics. We are not part of any revolutionary tradition that dictates and imposes our practical work. Our action is Pleasure through destruction. We live our anarchy today and not in a “revolutionary” tomorrow.

Perhaps a burned bus, a few Molotovs and a couple of bullets will not put an end to domination. However, we prefer to contribute decisively to its destruction without any consequences. Our freedom is found in the attack, because it is only when we untie the chains of morality and the servitude of capital and decide to take action, that we conquer that freedom of which the old and dusty philosophy books talk so much. (Santiago, Chile) ATTACK WITH EXPLOSIVE DEVICE AGAINST OXIQUIM S.A.

With anarchist attitude, the central offices of Oxiquim S.A. in the municipality of Providencia, Santiago, Chile, were attacked.

The high-powered device did not explode because of a solvable technical problem, so we are aiming for more.

Oxiquim, a giant of the Chilean chemical industry and a direct supplier to the country’s major extractive industries in the forestry, mining, agroindustrial and fishing sub-areas.

Oxiquim, a company headed by Fernando Barros Tocornal, a businessman with a high level of influence in Chilean politics, a direct advocate of dictator Pinochet, former president Sebastián Piñera, and a board member of the animal exploitation company Agrosuper.

Oxiquim, directly responsible for the pollution and ecocide of the waters, territory and inhabitants of Quintero-Puchuncaví, defended by the Chilean Navy during protests against the so-called “sacrifice zones.”

This is a new act of revenge against the perpetrators of Earth devastation and destruction. It’s a new violent action by anarchist hands in permanent conspiracy and revolt. It’s a new attack justified by the existence of domination. It is another insurrectionary action in the no-holds-barred struggle for Total Liberation.

Against technological industrial complex that seeks to exploit and dominate all forms of life, WE ARE SELVAGE FORCE. Against illusions of democracy and against all governments and those responsible for Earth devastation, WE PROPOSE CHAOS AND ANARCHY.

We want that the news of this action reaches eyes and ears of imprisoned anarchist comrades, claiming solidarity as the continuity of the attack against power outside and inside prisons.

With particular complicity we stand with the vegan anarcho-nihilists arrested after the anti-speciesist attack against the animal exploitation company Susaron and with anarchist prisoners Joaquín García, Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar. We also salute the high school students imprisoned for the anarchist uprisings in Santiago high schools and all those who from prison resist and struggle against the state and capital.

We send strength to Boris, Ivan and the anarchist prisoners in France. Strength for Erick King and the anarchist prisoners in the USA. Strength for Toby Shone in England. Strength for Gabriel and the anarchist prisoners in Spain. Strength for Giannis Michailidis and for anarchists imprisoned in Greece, Russia, the Czech Republic and around the world.

Strength for all anarchists who take action.

This attack is part of the international campaign of solidarity with anarchist prisoner Alfredo Cospito, on hunger strike against Italian state-imposed isolation. Alfredo, this is for you.

Statement from Eric King

Hello friends, comrades, and government Nosey Nathans! I’ve been in ADX for about two months now and wanted to give a little update and talk over what things are like here.

This prison, more than any, exist to break spirits and disrupt connections to the real world. It was built specifically for that purpose. The isolation here is on a very deep level. There are days that pass where I literally speak to no one and hear no one else. Some folks have decades here; imagine if you can. It’s brutal and sickening. This entire joint is a psychological war zone.

We are given TVs, which is cool, but you can get lost in them. It’s very easy to give up on fitness, mail, reading, and live in the screen. That is 100% what they want, digital social control, screen shackles. I do lots of jogging in place when a show is on, lots of movement. I’ve been in the SHU the last 4 years, most of that time without radio or books let alone a TV. That time was brutal as shit but it did teach me how to set a routine, and to get by on very little…that’s also easy for me to say knowing I’ll be out in approximately 10 months, having done one year here…many don’t have an outdate, or mail, or books coming. Alishare, I heard your message of solidarity, thank you, it gave me strength. I would turn the energy with this open letter, and I hope to kick a brick from the walls. One more time. In a flurry of black feathers and lunar wisdom, a murder of crows delivered your statement and those wily crows told me about your situation in FCI Memphis.

I want to add on to this dialogue and talk about three anarchist comrades imprisoned in Italy. The first is Anna Beniamino who is serving a 17 year sentence for the Scripta Manent case in a high security regime in Rebibbia prison (Rome). The Scripta Manent case involved the arrest of 7 anarchists accused of subversive association with terrorist intent and a series of direct actions claimed by the Informal Anarchist Organization. An absurd farce with obscene conclusions. The second comrade I want to mention is Alfredo Cospito who has been locked up since 2012 for the Adinolfi case for which he was sentenced for nearly 11 years and is now waiting for the confirmation of another sentence of 20 years for the Scripta Manent case. Alfredo was recently struck with the legislature 41 bis, special security regime. Each month, he can only receive either one phone call (10 minutes) or one visit strictly with family members with glass and recorded; he can only walk in the yard with maximum 3 other prisoners previously approved by prison security; he cannot receive books, censorship is applied to his correspondence (number of letters per month is extremely limited), and he has a very limited amount of items which he can keep in his cell. Several international agencies have continuously condemned the 41bis prison regime as torture. The third comrade I want to mention is Juan Sorroche. On the date of the international day of with long-term anarchist prisoners, June the 11th , Juan will face a court hearing in Treviso. Juan is on trial accused of an attack against an office of the Lega Nord political party claimed by the “Cell Haris Hatzimihelakis/Black International (1881/2018)” that happened in August 2018. Juan who was already serving time for other judgements, is now facing a long sentence in this other political trial. Like all the imprisoned anarchists around the world, these three comrades deserve the support and solidarity that the international anarchist movement can give them. June 11, 2022: International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason & All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners

As time moves on and the seasons change, we approach once again the June 11th International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason & All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners. Another year has passed, and many of our dear comrades remain captives of the state, subject to its daily subjugation, isolation, and brutality. June 11th is a time to stop the ever-quickening rush of our lives and remember.

Remember our imprisoned comrades. Remember our own histories of revolt. Remember the flame – sometimes flickering, sometimes blazing – of anarchism.

WE ARE ALL POTENTIAL PRISONERS

With June 11th, we desire to deepen a critique of prison that challenges the distinction between prisoner and supporter. For us, these differences are conditional: we, as anarchists, see ourselves as potential prisoners. Some of us have been, some of us will be. This is the basis of our solidarity – a recognition of ourselves in the plight of those in prison.

The continuum of prisoner and supporter can only be seen as tenuous if one looks to the examples of imprisoned and formerly-imprisoned comrades: Marius Mason’s activity with the Anarchist Black Cross, Bill Dunne’s liberation of an anarchist prisoner, Pola Roupa’s attempted helicopter rescue of anarchist prisoners, Claudio Lavazza‘s actions to liberate prisoners.
