Athens, Greece: Attack upon the offices of University Research Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (EPISY) for their involvement in assisting the investigation of cops and the army (National Technical Univeristy of Athens)

Posted on 2022/07/06 - 2022/07/06 by darknights

In recent times, we have seen the campus of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki turned into a release field for the murderous mania of the cops. Similar incidents of violence will become a daily occurrence in whichever campuses the university police are installed, which in order to get a foothold in the sanctuary will come accompanied by all the forces of the Greek police. This wave of repressive violence is intended to crush any possible resistance to the educational restructuring that has already been passed, namely the exclusion of the social base from higher education, disciplinary measures and the expulsion of students, cameras and controlled entry to schools, the alignment of curricula and research with the interests of capital.

In the wake of this restructuring we see more and more collaborations between Greek universities and military and police services, for whose needs research projects are carried out in the laboratories of the schools. These research projects, which concern border surveillance and the monitoring and suppression of militants, are funded by the EU and NATO to the tune of millions of euros.

In conclusion, within the framework of the European Defense Industrial Development Program, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Patras in cooperation with the Hellenic Air Force and the Ministry of National Defense conducted the research project <<Project Lottus>> for the design of a drone for the protection of land and sea borders. As a continuation of this project, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Thessalias in cooperation with the Hellenic Aircraft Industry will carry out the industrial production of such a drone, which will be made available to Frontex and the coast guard, among others, the agencies responsible for thousands of murders and expulsions of migrants in the middle of the Aegean Sea. Similar research projects have been undertaken by the NTUA, under the EU-funded Horizon 2020 programme. From Jason and Poseidon to Andromeda and Ingenius, the NTUA has been involved time and again with the logistical upgrade of the border guard and the army. Another project that the NTUA has undertaken is Prevision, which promises to be a state-of-the-art tool in the hands of state security. The aim of the programme is to monitor and map individuals with deviant/radical attitudes and views. The coordinator of all these programmes, on behalf of the NTUA, is the EPISY, i.e. the research arm of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for incendiary attacks on the Secretary General of the Greek Police Officers’ Union and SKAI journalist Aris Portosalte by ‘Direct Action Cells’

Posted on 2022/07/04 - 2022/07/04 by darknights

LET FEAR CHANGE SIDES

The Direct Action Cells undertook the incendiary attacks on the homes of the Secretary General of the Greek Police Officers’ Union Evangelos Mantziorou on June 2 in Peristeri and the SKAI journalist Aris Portosalte on June 14 in Vrilissia. Our attacks were carried out in the context of our strategy expressed through the slogan “Fear must change sides”. For the last 1.5 years we have been trying with all our forces to target people who, from their position, staff the Greek capitalist formation. High-ranking police officers, big journalists, government officials, technocrats who plan government policy, judges, have been targeted. At the same time we have carried out incendiary actions against financial and political targets. Our action is aimed at sending a clear message to these puppet masters. Those who from their position participate in the savage attack that capitalism has unleashed on all aspects of our lives are in the crosshairs of the Direct Action Cells.

Their apologetic statements, the terror with which they jump out of bed when they hear the explosions of the devices we place in their homes, the condemnatory statements of the parties and the media, show that we are on the right track. The encouraging comments from our people, our class people, are our strength to carry on. Through our actions we are trying to keep alive the tradition and practice of direct action. To make it clear that our enemies have names and addresses. To prove that our momentum is greater when we become unpredictable and to call on other militants to follow our example.

The choice of the far-right neoliberal university student and his targeting was not the result of a victimhood and a source of disgust caused by his public presence. Aris Portosalte as a persona encapsulates the most extreme aspects of neoliberal discourse in the country and with his shrill voice he challenges and seduces the sympathetic ears of the neoliberal audience. His daily rants are not the opinion of a journalist, as he and those who deplored the attack on his house want to peddle, but the outgrowth of the political footprint of New Democracy in Greece at the cutting edge of its thought and speech production, the media. Like another harlequin, he has taken a leading role in the forefront of far-right propaganda and is doing the dirty work that the ruling party’s political cadres often avoid. Athens, Greece: Incendiary attack of an Alpha Bank branch in Michalakopoulou by ‘Militant Solidarity’

Posted on 2022/07/03 by darknights

We take responsibility for the placement of 2 powerful incendiary devices on the facade of the bank ALPHA BANK- ABC FACTORS at 48 Michalakopoulou Street, which is located in the same building as AXA Insurance, late on Friday night, July 1. We chose such a central point of the city attempting to send a strong signal of solidarity to Giannis Michailidis who is on hunger strike since 23/5.

In addition, we cannot but comment on the occasion of this action a well orchestrated plan to cover up the solidarity movements in the face of the striker, with the essence of this cover-up being at the very core of Michailidis’ strike. The state administration has kept the strike and many of the actions that accompany it ‘secret’, apparently aiming to de-politicise and end it in terms of defeat and retreat. We stand by the comrade’s side for his release at a time when his health is getting worse by the day. The attack at this moment is a one-way street.

THEIR JUSTICE IS A MISGUIDED DECEPTION

The historical examples of judicial decisions that throw their own children – the whole shipowning dog pack, the ecclesiastical mob, the political establishment and its most prominent straw men – into the mud are numerous. Some do not get the publicity they deserve, others are de-nominated in an attempt to disorientate public opinion and others are simply headlines, infuriating the average person with their neutral texture. Unfortunately, in recent days their judicial time has been very dense and we cannot let it go unattended. All the more so when at the same time the anarchist prisoner Michailidis is fighting at the risk of his own life and claiming the release that – again, according to their own laws – he is entitled to, making his judicial hostage-taking even more challenging. Athens, Greece: Spasm of solidarity with G. Michailidis, attack on luxury apartments HESTIA and the company Grivas/Integrated IT Solutions

Posted on 2022/07/03 by darknights

On Sunday night 25/6, we attacked the luxury apartments HESTIA and the company Grivas/Integrated IT Solutions by breaking their windows on Alexandra Avenue.

Since 23/05 the anarchist political prisoner G. Michailidis is on hunger strike from 23.23.2005. His request is his formal release from the cells of bourgeois democracy, as he has served all the formalities set by their laws. Nevertheless, in his person the state is taking revenge for his steadfast attitude of struggle, his continuation of the struggle, his choice of escape and “illegality” far from capitulating to the regime. Thus, it keeps him in prison indefinitely, activating the dreaming of the statists, i.e. the police of thought and the possible commission of new offences.

For our part, we have nothing more to say but to declare that we are on the side of the hunger striker. This is why we attacked these two places. On the one hand, luxury housing is a target in a neighbourhood (Exarchia and Areos Pedion) that is under an all-out attack of appropriation. Our neighbourhoods are becoming unlivable. Rents are reaching a ceiling higher than the salary. Airbnbs are popping up on every corner and evicting anything that spoils their street. The bosses squeeze the workers. Thus, the neighborhood of the parts in particular becomes an investment hotbed, with private citizens, democrats and cops attempting to run the show.

On the other hand, Grivas/Integrated IT Solutions is one of many that offer their services where the money flows abundantly. And of course this is nothing but war. So, it provides solutions and investigations to NATO and by extension with the war machine of the Greek state, while cooperating in the prosecution of migrant(s) with the Greek coast guard. All this at a time when transnational antagonisms are at their peak and now openly with war on European soil. Of course, we do not ignore all these wars of low or high intensity in the periphery of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, etc., but neither do we ignore the role played by the Greek state in the war and annihilation of migrants attempting to cross the borders.

Every day it becomes clearer that we are the meat for their cannons. That we must run out of wages just for rent and electricity. That we must obey every new or old discipline for our own good. That rapists, all kinds of squealing journalists, politicians, cops, the military must have a say over our lives; that we should oppose all of the above with solidarity, self-organization and resistance to the state and capital.

Freedom to the anarchist G. Michailidis, hunger striker since 23/05

We want immigrants in all neighbourhoods and not tourists on holiday

We don’t fight for the states and the bosses, but only against them

Exarcheia, Athens, Greece: Responsibility claim for the 28/5 clashes as a sign of solidarity with the hunger striker G. Michailidis

Posted on 2022/06/30 by darknights

On Saturday 28/5 we chose to enliven the neighbourhood of Exarcheia a little more.

It was clear in our minds to give the state a clear message about how things will be from now on if the struggle of the anarchist G. Michailidis was not vindicated.

The comrade has been incarcerated since 2013 in the Greek prisons and already since 29/12/2021 he fulfils all the formal requirements for his conditional release. However, the judges of the Amfissa Magistrate’s Court rejected his application.

He decided on 23/05/2022 to start a hunger strike, forced by the obscene tactics of the state to hold him hostage on the sole basis of his political identity and the dignity with which he supports it.

The target of our attack was the much-publicised DRASI Group. One of the two main pillars of repression of society along with the riot police.

Our attack caught them completely off guard, not having the practical ability to approach us they were limited to picking up their fallen colleagues and throwing flash bangs. At our tactical retreat the DRASI felt they had the ability to fight back.

Then something happened that made us even happier. Along with us, a large crowd of people got up from the shops and benches, left for a while the classic hanging out in Messolonghio and joined us in the conflict. The aftermath was beautiful, the garbage of the DRASI Team running chased through the alleys of the Exarcheia.

Against the violence of the state we will always stand ready and willing to return a piece of it to them.

We will always respond to plots and terrorism with solidarity and comradeship.

Immediate release of the anarchist hunger striker G. Michailides

UK: Communication with anarchist comrade Toby Shone cut off by scum prison authorities G4S

Posted on 2022/06/28 by darknights

Imprisoned Anarchist Toby Shone who is being held at the private G4S prison HMP/YOI Parc in Bridgend, South Wales, is now unable to communicate by phone with his solidarity group and closest loved ones after the Security Team at Parc, headed by Daniel Hayman, removed these contacts from his permitted phone pin numbers list on Friday 24th June 2022 at 6pm. This together with interference with his post and emails is an attempt to hold him incommunicado in the jail.

He was formally notified of this decision on Saturday 25th June with the following reasons given: giving interviews over the phone, giving detailed information about staff at the prison which has then been published online, and hate speech against some prison staff.

Neither Toby nor his comrades are surprised by this action and Toby remains strong and defiant. The weak and pitiful lackeys that work in the prison camps of capital, locking other human beings up in exchange for a little piece of silver and a small dimension of power over others, are no match at all for the revolutionary spirit and they know it. Neither Toby nor any of us will ever shut up.

Write to the prison to complain and show your solidarity by contacting the Director of HMP Parc:

Exarcheia, Athens, Greece: Video from the Day X protest & riots to resist the occupation of Exarcheia square by cops and the building of a metro station

Posted on 2022/06/26 - 2022/06/26 by darknights

Exarchia, Saturday night, around 20:30, 26 June 2022. People are starting to gather in Exarchia Square for the march against gentrification, evictions, political denaturalization and state repression in Exarchia. In front of the astonished eyes of the assembled people 5-6 motorbikes of the police group DRASI are defiantly passing by Exarchia Square. Apart from voices denouncing this provocative move by the police and warning of the response they will get the next time they provoke, there is no aggressive move against the police.

What are the police officers going and doing on their part? They leave and come back with more reinforcements to provoke incidents, about 15-20 motorcycles. The result of this is what is recorded in the video.

During their panicked retreat and after once again suffocating the area with asphyxiating gas, they even left behind radios, according to witnesses.

The march through Exarchia moved dynamically with the participation of hundreds. Continue reading “Exarcheia, Athens, Greece: Video from the Day X protest & riots to resist the occupation of Exarcheia square by cops and the building of a metro station” →

Thessaloniki, Greece: Arson attack on Eurobank ATM

Posted on 2022/06/25 - 2022/06/25 by darknights

The anarchist hunger striker Giannis Michailidis is on his 33rd day of hunger strike and is being treated in Lamia hospital with his health condition being extremely poor.

The state, exhausting its vindictiveness, is pushing the hunger striker into a life-or-death struggle, a struggle for freedom or submission. The games played by the Ministry of Propaganda and the Amfissa Judicial Council, which for the umpteenth time rejected the comrade’s request for temporary release, clearly demonstrate that their “correction” against the declared enemies of the state and capital is extermination and torture.

We, for our part, stand on the side of dignity and freedom in the face of the world of oppression, imprisonment and power. We take responsibility as a minimal sign of solidarity with the struggle of our comrade and in the context of the international day of action for the arson of a Eurobank ATM in Agios Pavlos Thessaloniki in the early hours of Friday 24/6.

Italy: An update and some considerations on Operation Sibilla and the 41 bis against anarchist Alfredo Cospito

Posted on 2022/06/25 - 2022/07/24 by darknights

A hearing on the precautionary measures ordered for the repressive Sibilla operation was held at the Court of Cassation in Rome on June 22. The hearing stemmed from an appeal by prosecutor Manuela Comodi against the order of the Perugia review court, which on Dec. 16 had resulted in the annulment of the precautionary measures taken on Nov. 11 in the repressive operation. The Court of Cassation, in spite of the opinion of the Attorney General’s Office (which had called for the rejection of the Perugia prosecutor’s appeal), granted PM Comodi’s request, annulling the order of the review court and ordering a new hearing. The precautionary measures are not effective, and a new review hearing will be ordered for the coming months at the Perugia court.

We would like to take the opportunity of this update to dwell on the reasons that led to the crackdown, adding some of our own considerations derived especially from the recent order to transfer Comrade Alfredo Cospito to a 41 bis detention regime.

In September 2021, following years of investigations conducted by the commands of the Special Operational Grouping of the Carabinieri in Milan and Perugia, eight prison arrests for as many anarchist comrades were requested by the Perugia prosecutor’s office. This order was partly rejected and downgraded by the judge for preliminary investigations. At the same time as this request for arrest, a three-month censure order on correspondence was ordered for comrade Alfredo Cospito, which was subsequently renewed several times.

Thus, on Nov. 11, dozens of searches were carried out by the ROS of the Carabinieri, the Sibilla investigation concerning some 15 comrades was notified, and six precautionary measures were imposed in connection with the charge of incitement to commit a crime with the aggravating factor of the purpose of terrorism: an arrest warrant in prison for Alfredo Cospito (at the time already imprisoned in the Terni jail); the arrest of comrade Michele Fabiani, who was placed under house arrest with all restrictions; and finally, the obligation to stay in the municipality of residence jointly with the obligation to sign three days a week for four comrades. On the very day of the operation, two websites (roundrobin.info and malacoda.noblogs.org) were also blacked out, making their online addresses untraceable, and at present they are still unreachable on Italian territory through conventional browsers (due to technical limitations, the repressive forces were able to order the blackout only in Italy, since it was not possible to completely eliminate the websites in question). As mentioned earlier, after a little over a month, the precautionary measures were all cancelled by the review court.
