Chile: On anarchist prisoner Marcelo Villarroel’s sentence computation review hearing

Today, July 5, the sentence computation review hearing in favor of Marcelo Villarroel took place before Judge Carolina Gajardo, of the 7th Guarantee Court of Santiago. In this hearing, Marcelo’s defence denounced before the Court the illegality of the Gendarmerie’s action of increasing by 21 years the minimum time of his effective sentence to be eligible for parole. Before this modification, he could have applied for parole in December 2019. This action, covered by the modification of DL 321 by law 21.124 in December 2019, violates a series of fundamental guarantees, especially the non-retroactivity of criminal law and the principle of in dubio pro reo, established in the Constitution (art. 19 n3), in the Criminal Code (art. 18) and in a series of international human rights treaties ratified and prevailing in Chile.

The Prosecutor’s Office was also present, represented by prosecutor Arturo Gómez, who argued that Marcelo must still serve sentences of more than 30 years, given the sentences of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, and that this request of the defence had already been resolved in a negative manner by the Court on repeated occasions, and should therefore be rejected (despite the fact that this is the first action for sentence computation).

In the pleadings, the National Institute of Human Rights also appeared, whose delegate referred to read the general conclusions of a report they prepared in the year 2021 on this matter, in which they provide the grounds for which this modification of Decree Law 321 has been applied in violation of fundamental guarantees of persons deprived of liberty. However, at the hearing, this entity did not express its opinion in relation to the specific case for which its assistance was requested and which was being discussed (despite the fact that this same report explicitly refers to the case of Marcelo Villarroel), even stating that this matter should be resolved by the trial judge.

Finally, Judge Carolina Gajardo rejected the request, basing her decision on the fact that this discussion had already been settled previously and in various instances, and that she was not competent to rule on the actions of the Gendarmerie, leaving Marcelo without legal protection.

The legal team is already preparing the appeal to this resolution, as well as the different motions that will continue to be filed until Marcelo is released.

People’s eyes have been trained to remain glued to the screens with their brain functions losing touch with their emotions, anger, hatred for the degradation of this rotten world, pain for their neighbor, history, memory, nature. People have been trained to watch the world in a digital reality that runs at ever greater speeds and end up being inert beings in this digital consumption without shaping events. In this way we have honored our dead: We carried the incendiary device for our attack on Real as if we were carrying the remains of the dead of the social war. At dawn on 13/07 we left an incendiary device of small power on the ground floor of the building outside the door of the Real News – Real Fm snitches. We therefore recommend that people keep calm and not eat the lies of the state narrative of events raw because as we will explain below, we live in a reality of lies. For any inconvenience to the working sound engineer of the building due to the murderous negligence of her bosses in not making adequate provision for easy egress of the building, we will seek a public apology from her exclusively, saying in retrospect publicly and humbly that our purpose was to make a symbolic attack. Anyway, we are one of those parts of the working class that is fighting its own struggles alongside many other workers and in no way would we want to harm a sound engineer, but only cause material damage to the building at material cost to their bosses. The crocodile tears of the New Democracy fascists for the worker have provoked our above anger with their crude hypocrisy. I wonder if they ever felt any pain for the many employer murders that have occurred recently such as the electrician Christos Zorbas in the HPEIROS industry or the murder of the COSCO dock worker? Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy… that is all that characterises the vulgarity of those in power. And to clarify the landscape, to answer that if we wanted to kill as presented by the “4th power” i.e. the executive organs of the lie of the state, which are the journalists, we would come one morning with a crowd of workers inside the offices and leave the device. Last Wednesday 07/13, a rally was held outside the women’s prison in San Miguel (Chile) demanding that the minimum conditions of health care be met, due to the prohibition of using the patio during the hours that correspond to the female prisoners, etc. Thus dozens of fighters, activists and fellow militants from the October 18 Coordinator were present to denounce this situation that is being experienced in the women’s prison.

On the outskirts of the latter, the bars of the gates were banged loudly so that the political prisoners of this damn government of Boric and the Chilean Communist Party could hear from inside. Likewise, a letter from the political prisoner Monica Caballero was read; from the Coordinator for the Freedom of Political Prisoners on October 18, words were also expressed and from the International Network for the Freedom of Political Prisoners and Justice for Our Martyrs we were as well part of this demonstration carrying the brave voice of Giannis Michaidilis, a Greek political prisoner who has been on a hunger strike for more than 40 days fighting for his freedom against the bourgeois state and the damned justice of the Troika.

The reason is the bourgeois states, their damned justice, whether it is the Pinochetista one or the imperialist Troika’s one, are there to persecute, condemn and intimidate the workers in struggle, the rebellious youth who fight against this capitalist system and all those who face governments and exploitative regimes.

The fight to free Giannis, all the young Greek and Chilean rebels, and all the political prisoners in the world must be one and the same fight.

Santiago, Chile: Explosive attack against Belasco construction company in Las Condes + Claim by “Grupo de Acción 6 de Julio-Nueva Subversión”

During the night of Tuesday, July 5, around 23:00hrs an anonymous cyclist was riding through the wealthy streets of Las Condes to stop at the intersection of Ebro and Encomenderos.

In the place is located the corporate building of the construction company Belasco, the anonymous cyclist manages to enter a small package through the fence to give towards the interior of the building. After a few minutes, the device explodes, causing damage to the facade, mainly to the pillar, the entrance gate and glass of the building.

The unknown silhouette manages to continue its course without any problem or being detected. The typical police personnel for these events arrive at the place: GOPE, LABOCAR, OS-9 in charge of the already traditional Fiscalia Sur, self-styled expert for these cases.

From the progressive government, the Minister of the Interior Izkia Siches said: “the investigations are in progress, I am aware of it and we hope that they will be able to give a quick account. These are facts that we obviously reject as a government and we hope they will not be repeated in our country”.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, said: “We must not anticipate judgments, there are audiovisual images of the person who placed the explosive device, with respect to the company Besalco”. On June 10, 2022, at dusk, a group of hooded people leaves one of the existing university campuses in the sector of Macul and Grecia to cut the street, erect barricades and confront the police with firebombs.

On more than a few occasions this year there have been confrontations on that corner as well as in other educational establishments, used as an excuse to propagate the fight against power. Most of the time these confrontations are vindicated by pamphlets and banners, about some aspect of the struggle in particular. This time the comrades sent a communiqué to different pages of counter information from the “Warriache Matias Catrileo Cell” in an open dialogue with other groups of action and urban guerrilla existing in the territory dominated by the Chilean State.

Santiago, Chile: Arson attack against the Club de Huasos y Rodeo Gil Letelier + Grupo de Respuesta Animal’s claim.

In the early morning of May 26, 2022, anonymous hands set fire to the Gil Letelier Huasos and Rodeo Club in the commune of Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Santiago, in addition to leaving pamphlets and bullets as a threat.

A few days later the action is attributed by the Animal Response Group to different counterinformation pages as a coordinated action and in conjunction with the attack on the gendarmerie building by the “Célula Insurreccional 2 de Noviembre” (November 2nd Insurrectional Cell).

Santiago, Chile: (Updated) Explosive Attack against Gendarmerie Officers Circle in Retirement + Claim of “Célula Insurreccional 2 de Noviembre”.

During the early morning of May 26, 2022, around 1:00 a.m., two hooded men ride a bicycle to the building where the miserable torturers “in retirement” remain. The Circle of Gendarmerie Officials in Retirement (CIRGENCHI), located in José Toribio Medina # 72, in the heart of downtown Santiago.

The unknown persons left a device to leave quickly without being detected or attracting attention. Soon after, a loud explosion occurs, alerting the neighbors, without causing any damage or injuries.

Police personnel quickly arrived and the case was taken to the South Prosecutor’s Office, which delegated its proceedings to personnel from GOPE, LABOCAR and OS9. At first it was reported that a fire extinguisher with its normal chemical powder charge was found in the place, but with the passing of time this information will be denied by the protagonists.

The attack is claimed by the “Célula Insurreccional 2 de Noviembre” through e-mails to different counter-information pages, specifying the explosive nature of the device, as well as directly linking the action to the commemoration of the death of Mauricio Morales in 2009 and the urgent campaign for the release of Marcelo Villarroel, imprisoned by the convictions of the Military Prosecutor’s Office.
It is also noted that this attack was carried out in coordination with the arson attack on the medialuna of the commune of Pedro Aguirre Cerda, by the Grupo de Respuesta Animal (Animal Response Group).

The attack of May 2022 is not the first against this enclosure, already at the end of April 2016 the Autonomous Fraction “Sole y Baleno” carried out an arson attack against the same Circle of Gendarmerie Officials in Retiro, generating considerable damages.

Puerto Montt, Chile: Explosive attack against Special Forces police station + Revival of “Negra venganza. Nucleos de Melipulli Jose Huenante”

During the night of May 25 in the southern city of Puerto Montt, a roar shook the 8th Police Station of Special Forces, now renamed COP (Public Order Control) to clean up its image.

The explosion affected the police building located on Calle Deber Cumplido in Población Miramar.
